In recent time there are vigorous requirement for the use of thick steel plate in various industrial fields including shipbuilding industry. Especially, with the continual increases in marine transportation volumes on a global scale, the steel of container ships have become thicker and thicker with the increased size of ships. In addition to, the brittle crack arrestability of heavy thick plates were big issue, in recently. In this study, crack arrest test were conducted in order to investigate the crack arrestability of thick plates for shipbuilding steels, where test plate thickness were 50mm and 80mm. This paper introduce the brittle crack arrestability of heavy thick plates for shipbuilding.

In recent years, hydrogen-oxygen mixed gas generated by electrically dissociating water has been proposed as alternative cutting fuel. The mixed gas consists of a hydrogen-oxygen mixed gas in the mixture ratio of 2:1. And gas has some merits as cutting quality and speed compared with existing gas cutting process. Because main source of mixed gas is water, mixed gas is environmental-friendly clean fuel. The purpose of the present paper is to investigate cutting characteristics and optimum cutting parameters of mixed gas, The effect of cutting parameter on the cutting characteristics of mixed gas is also investigated as compared to existing gas cutting process.

The fatigue experiments of friction stir welded Al-6061-T6 alloy with and with out back bead were performed to investigate the variation in fatigue strength and life of the Joint. It was found that there were always existed flaws at the roots of friction stir welds for the normal welding parameters and clamping conditions. In order to overcome this root flaws, friction stir welds with optimum back bead has been developed. The test results with root flaws and with back bead were compared. The fatigue life of weld with root flaws was 5-10 times shorter than that of the friction stir weld with back bead.

Welding-induced buckling distortion at the free edge of thin-plated panels has been studied. Welding distortion at free edges causes the additional man hours to straighten for the easy adjusting works of the following assembly stage. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a free-edge distortion control method. It is the purpose in the study to evaluate the effectiveness of buckling distortion prevention of the current design practice and design modification.

This research is concerned with a study of failure strength evaluation on heat element gap at resistance welding. The failure strength of resistance welded joint is changed by welding factor like as current(power level), welding time(total energy), pressure etc. and another heat element factor like as number of element line, element gap etc. Tensile-shear tests were carried out with the single-lap specimen using polypropylene(PP). The failure mechanism and optimization of gap was discussed in order to explain the tensile-shear strength evaluation on heat element gap at resistance welding. Orthogonal array was used by fractional factorial design for efficient experiments.

The instability of the arc in the
$CO_2$ arc welding affects the quality of the weld in the automotive industry. This paper evaluates the effects of the arc stability in$CO_2$ arc welding with respect to vertical welding positions. In this experiment, galva-annealed steel sheets(CA) were used as specimens, and these materials were welded by adopting new Cold Metal Transfer (CMT) process. For each sample, fillet joint welding trials were carried out using the same conditions. Each part of welding joints was welded with vertical-up, vertical-down position at$45^{\circ},\;90^{\circ}\;and\;135^{\circ}$ degrees. A high speed camera and a welding signal monitoring system were used for monitoring fluid-flow phenomena in weld pools and frequency measurements, respectively. Through this study, the welding position were found to be key factors mainly to influence the arc stability in$CO_2$ welding moreover and that the arc stability in the vertical-up welding position was observed to be more stable than the vertical-down welding position below$90^{\circ}$ . -
In this study, actual scale welding were conducted at the USC thermal power plant turbine and main steam pipe casting candidate mock up material 9Cr-1.5Mo-CoVNbNB steel(CB2) and 9Cr-0.5Mo-MVNbN steel(P92). And to evaluate the welding process for the actual production, mechanical property testes were conducted for the weld metal. The Mock-up welding condition successfully led to an excellent structural welding joint between casting and pipe material.

Methods of repair welding are different to production welding for welding position, welding process, welding power source, heating methods. This study investigated proper the welding process used the welding process SMAW and GTAW in the weldment of inconel filler metals. Mechanical test showed that SMAW and GTAW process had higher mechanical properties than those of material specification. Both SMAW and GTAW welding process can appy the repair welding. In comparison, GTAW welding process had more higher mechanical properties in the weldment.

주강소재 보수용접부의 품질 및 용접생산성 향상을 위해 기존 용접후열처리 조건(이하 PWHT)을 모재에 적용하는 품질열처리(이하 NTT)로의 대체 및 반자동 FCAW 용접방법의 적용 가능성을 확인하기 위해 상온 및 고온 물성평가(고온인장강도, 크리프 파단강도)를 수행한 결과, 제작 공정 측면에서 FCAW의 적용이 가능한 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 PWHT 대신 NTT를 적용함으로서 용접방법별 물성 편차가 줄어드는 NTT 열처리의 긍정적 효과가 확인되어, 궁극적으로 기존 PWHT 및 NTT 모두 적용이 가능한 것으로 확인되었다.

Magnesium sheet used in electrical device due to mobility and EMF shielding characteristics. Magnesium case by press forming was advantageous compare with conventional die casting process, because of its thin gauge of wall and surface quality. But it need to makes the boss to fix inner part or assemble the case. CD stud welding was effective way for joining the boss to the thin gauge case of the electrical devices. In this study, we investigated the performances of the magnesium boss welder To measure the process parameters such as the force and the weld current, we design the monitoring system for CD stud welding. We test the characteristics of CD stud welding for AZ31 sheets at some variables. Finally we select the optimum welding range of magnesium sheets in CD stud welding process.

Laser welding technology for automobile body is studied. Laser system, robot and seam tracking system are used for 3D laser welding system. The laser system is used 4kW Nd:YAG laser(HL4006D) of Trumpf and the robot system is used IRB6400R of ABB. The seam tracking system is SMRT-20LS of ServoRobot. The welding joints of steel plate are butt and lap joint. The 3 dimensional laser welding for non-linear pipe welding line is performed.

The resistance spot weld is among the most common automotive weld method, now a constant current type is the most common used types. A constant current type have a weak point which can not deal with a defect occurrence by external factors, and recently the adaptive resistance spot weld have been applied around the advanced automotive company. This technology can maintain a stable weld quality through a suitable control the current and weld time with weld environment. In this research, the adaptive resistance spot weld is applied to high strength steels, and its application possibility and weld characteristics are presented.

The study was performed in order to develop high efficient Electrode Gas Welding with additional solid wire by means of a surplus heat source. This technique can be reduced welding heat input in the weldments, welding speed can be increased over 30%, and mechanical properties can be more excellent than traditional method.

To investigate mechanical property on the low temperature plate weld metal, the two different plates of the same steel grade were welded and evaluated on the multiple pass welds and both side one run welds with different Mo contents welding consumables. The results are summarized as follows; 1) Welds made by no Mo containing wire showed very low impact values for type of material company. 2) Welds made by 0.25%Mo containing wire showed good impact value regardless of both side one run welds and multiple pass welds. 3) Welds made by 0.5%Mo containing wire showed good impact value for both side one run welds, while it was not acceptable value for multiple pass welds.

This study aimed to evaluate the low temperature properties of the 18Cr ferritic stainless steel weld. Applied welding methods were LB(Laser Beam) and GTA(Gas Tungsten Arc) welding to compare the different low temperature properties of the welds. Low temperature properties were evaluated by the Charpy impact, Erichsen and Expansion test at low temperature. LB weld showed superior low temperature properties in the cases of the Charpy impact test and expansion test at low temperature, while GTA weld showed a superior low temperature property in the case of Erichsen test at low temperature. The different low temperature properties with test methods are still under analysis and may be due to different crack path depending on the microstructure, test speed and stress concentration during test.

Increasing demand of using low weight materials in recent automotive trends has been the challenge to develop a sound welding of aluminum alloys. A heat treatable AA6082-T6 and a non-heat treatable AA5083-0 aluminum alloys were joined in this study. Investigations revealed that about 60 UTS will be reduced due to welding process. Fracture happened in the interface between fusion zone and base metal of top specimen where penetration is shallow. Therefore, lower welding torch angle produced the better strength which allows deeper penetration to the top specimen. PWHT at
$560^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours can be used to return the original UTS of the specimens. -
Magnesium alloys are the lightest in commercial alloys. Also, they have high damping capacity and the shielding effect of electromagnetic waves. Recently, magnesium alloys have received considerable attention from the transportation industry. Many manufacturers of cars try to increase the use of magnesium alloys in their product. In order to evaluate the weldability of magnesium alloy, gas-tungsten arc welding(GTAW) have been applied to the AZ31, AZ61 and AZ91 alloys and established the optimum welding conditions.

1) 자체 제작한 NCP인 A, B, C 3종은 상용화 제품에 비해 도포성에 관련한 특성은 우수한 것으로 나타났으나 Tg 등의 열특성은 개선이 필요한 것으로 판단된다. 2) 접합강도의 경우 4종의 큰 차이가 없었으나 필러가 비교적 적은 조성인 B 조성의 경우 가장 큰 접합강도를 나타냈다. 3) NCP A, B, C 3종에 대한 접속저항 측정 결과 필러가 가장 많은 C의 경우가 가장 높은 저항 값을 보였으며 이는 가속 고온 고습 시험에 대한 결과에서도 급격한 접속률 감소를 통해 확인할 수 있다. 4) 시간에 따른 접속저항의 급격한 증가는 NCP 성분 중 친수성을 가진 물질이 있는 것이 원인이라 판단되며 이에 대한 개선을 통해 고습에 대한 신뢰성을 향상시킬 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

It has been known that the underfilling technique is effective in reducing thermal and environmental stress concentration at solder joint in FC asscemblies. In this paper, the effect of thermomechanical properties of underfill such as coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE) and Young's modulus on reliability of FC assembly under thermal cycling was investigated. For parametric study for optimal design of underfill, finite element analyses(FEA) were performed for seven different CTEs and five different Young's modulus. The results show that the concentrated maximum stress decreases as Young's modulus of underfill increases and the CTE of underfill decreases.

The Friction spot dissimilar welding of galvanized steel/Al6061-T6 was performed to investigate the mechanical characteristics of the joints. The presence of thin film of aluminum oxide on the surface and melting of zinc in the coating, made substandard joint characteristics for dissimilar Friction spot joining(FSJ) performed with out removing the coating. Where as, for dissimilar FSJ of galvanized steel/Al6061-T6 after removing the coating, superior agitation and welding quality has been obtained for a configuration of galvanized steel as the upper plate and Al6061-T6 as lower plate. The results from tensile tests and microscopic examination for various combinations of the welding parameters have been presented.

The butt and lap configurational friction stir welding of type 304 stainless steel was conducted in this study. The sound joints were obtained by WC tool. As the welding distance increased, tool deformation gradually increased at the pin edge. The discoloration by oxidation was observed at the top surface of the joint, a sufficient heat-input was required to avoid the welding defect owing to the lack of stirring at the welding start point. Very fine grains were observed in the stir zone, and the grain coarsening was not observed in the heat affected zone. -

Sn-Bi eutectic solder alloy have is good wetting and physical properties. The results of solder paste properties test, melting point is about
$139^{\circ}C$ and spread test is represent spread properties of$7{\sim}16%$ . The results of shear strength after as reflowed, thermal shock test, high temperature storage test of 500hr and 1000hr at$100^{\circ}C$ . The shear strength value range is from 6000 to 11000gf, pull strength value range is from 2200 to 3300gf. -

The laser welding process was effective way to join the metals, because of the high productivity, the low distortion and the good weld quality. The fiber laser used the double-clad fiber architecture, the single element diode laser and the fully-spliced side pumping. It has the advantages in the views of the energy conversion efficiency, the beam quality, the robustness and the mobility. Recently, the thick material was welded with the high power laser in ship building or construction industry owing to the super bright fiber laser. In this study, we introduced the characteristics of high power fiber laser and its welding performance of thick gauge materials.

Effects of Nd:YAG Laser Welding Parameters on Fatigue Life of Lap Joint Structure in Stainless SteelExperimental analysis was carried out to understand the fatigue phenomena of different thickness stainless steel overlap joining structure by Nd:YAG laser welding. The fatigue life was obtained through fatigue tests with the various levels of applied load. The fatigue life is related with the parameters such as gap condition and penetration depth through experiment. As the results, tensile and fatigue strength were proportional in heat input level and bead width was identified the major factor for joining strength. Also the fatigue life were decreased depend on gap condition, it was more affected at the low load level.

High Mn steel has been developed for automotive applications since the steel has an excellent combination of strength and ductility. However, from the viewpoint of welding, high Mn steel has a few problems related to its chemical composition. In this study, development of dissimilar laser welding technology has been investigated for expanding application of high Mn steel. The results have shown that dissimilar weld joint between high Mn steel and carbon steel has poor erichsen property using STS309L filler wire or not.

Laser cladding technology was studied as a method for upgrading the present repair procedures of damaged tubes in a nuclear steam generator and Doosan subsequently developed and designed a new Laser Cladding Repair System. One of the important features of this newly developed Laser Cladding Repair System is that molten metal can be deposited on damaged tube surfaces using a laser beam and filler wire without the need to install sleeves inside the tube. Laser cladding qualification tests on the steam generator tube material, Alloy 600, were performed according to ASME Section IX.

The center floor is a part of underbody of cars. The assembling method is mostly a resistant spot welding. But the resistant spot welding has many demerits in productivity such as low welding speed, large spatter occurring, hard to verify the welding quality. The laser welding has many merits such as high welding speed, high static and dynamic weld strength. So the laser welding has been studied to substituted the resistant spot welding. Therefore, in this study, as a pre-evaluation stage for replacing the resistance spot welding with laser in production of automobile parts, the weldability of cold rolled and zinc coated steel sheets is studied and also evaluated the weld strength by the tensile shear test. And the shape of weld bead appearances and micro structure of the weld bead section is also evaluated.

A spacer grid assembly, which is an interconnected array of slotted grid straps and is welded at the intersections to form an egg crate structure, is one of the main structural components of the nuclear fuel assembly for pressurized water reactors(PWRs). The spacer grid assembly is structurally required to have enough buckling strength under various kinds of lateral loads acting on the nuclear fuel assembly so as to keep the nuclear fuel assembly straight. And also, the spacer grid assembly is hydraulically required to have less hydraulic resistance of coolant. To meet this requirement, it is necessary to weld the welding parts carefully and precisely. In this study, weld qualities such as, weld bead size and spatter manufactured by various welders were compared and analyzed. And performance parameters such as impact strength of spacer grid and hydraulic resistance of coolant were also compared and analyzed. Comparison results show that the weld qualities could be improved by selecting the optimal welding condition and also improving the welding technique.

Solderability Evaluation of Sn-0.3Ag-0.7Cu Solder Alloy with Different Flux Activity and In AdditionSn-0.3Ag-0.7Cu 조성의 젖음 특성과 반응 특성을 Sn-1.0Ag-0.5Cu 및 Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu 합금의 결과와 비교, 분석하였다. 또한 Sn-0.3Ag-0.7Cu 조성의 용융 및 응고 특성을 DSC로 측정하고, 인장시험을 통한 stress-strain curve를 관찰하였다. 아울러 할로겐 함유량이 많은 플럭스를 사용하여 Sn-0.3Ag-0.7Cu 조성의 젖음 특성을 향상 시킬 수 있는지를 조사하였으며, Sn-0.3Ag-0.7Cu 조성에 미량의 In을 첨가하여 젖음 특성의 개선 정도를 분석하였다. 그 결과 할로겐 함유량이 높은 플럭스를 사용한 경우보다 미량의 In을 첨가한 경우에서 wettability의 향상을 보다 효과적으로 유도할 수 있음을 관찰할 수 있었다.

철계 피삭재 가공 시 적용되는 cBN(cubic Boron-Nitride)의 경우 열적/구조적 안정성으로 인해 융착 시 계면에서 화학적 결합이 어려워, 지립이 단일층으로 형성되어야 하는 융착 공구의 경우 적용되질 못하고 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 세라믹과의 젖음성이 우수한 Ti 성분이 포함된 67Ag+28Cu+5Ti(wt.%) 조성의 합금분말을 이용하여 cBN을 접합을 하였으며, 이때 융착조건은 진공 분위기(
$6{\times}10^{-6}$ Torr),$900^{\circ}C$ 온도에서 5분간 유지하여 융착을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 주목적은 Ti 합금화 된 Ag계 합금분말 및 cBN의 융착 계면에서의 융착 계면거동해석을 통한 건전한 접합공정을 찾는데 있다. 이에 온도$900^{\circ}C$ , 유지시간 5분에서 건전한 융착층을 형성함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 결합력 측정기를 이용하여 결합력을 측정한 결과 diamond와 융착하였을 때가 123N, cBN을 융착하였을 때 107N으로써, cBN 융착이 diamond 융착의 87%정도의 결합력을 보임을 알 수 있었다. 한편 cBN과 Ag-Cu-Ti계 브레이징 필러의 계면에서의 미세조직 및 화학반응의 메커니즘은 SEM, EDS를 이용하여 분석하였다. -
The surface mounting technology of 0402 electric chip part is necessary to fabricate a high density and multi-functional module, but there is a limitation of the technology, like as a bridge and self-alignement. This work estimated SMT processing factors of 0402 chip. To obtain optimum SMT process, we evaluated effects of stencil thickness, shape of hole on printability and mountability. Printability shows best results under the thickness of
$80{mu}m$ with circle hole shape and 90% square hole shape. In case of chip mounting process, chip mis-alignment and bridge was occurred rarely in same conditions. In more thin stencil thickness,$50{mu}m$ , strength of 1005 chip parts was poor, because of amount of printed solder was insufficient. -

본 연구에서는 Ag anisotropic conductive adhesive(ACA)의 종류, 경화 조건 및 안테나 패턴의 재질에 따른 flip chip bonding된 RFID die의 접합부 신뢰성이 조사되었다. 접합강도 측정에 의하여 접합강도가 최적화되는 공정 시간을 결정할 수 있었으며, 그러한 최적의 공정조건에서는 paste-type Ag ink로 인쇄된 안테나 상에서의 RFID die의 접합강도가 Cu 재질 안테나에 비해 상대적으로 높게 측정됨을 알 수 있었다. RFID tag의 인식거리 측정 시험을 통하여 적절한 경화 조건이 적용된다면 안테나의 재질이 인식거리 변화에 가장 주요한 영향을 미치는 인자임을 알 수 있었다. 아울러 Cu 안테나 패턴은 RFID die의 접합 과정에서 곡률을 가지며 휘어지면서 인식거리와 관련된 long-tem reliability를 악화시킬 수 있음을 관찰할 수 있었다.

본 연구에서는 플립칩 범프를 형성하는 여러 가지 방법 중 전해도금을 이용하여 Sn-0.7wt%Cu 솔더 범프를 형성 하고자 하였다. 전류밀도에 따른 전류 효율을 알아보기 위하여 전류밀도에 따른 실험적 증착 속도와 이론적 속도를 비교 분석 하였다. 도금 두께는 FE-SEM(Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope)을 이용하여 측정 하였으며 최종적으로
$20{\mu}m{\times}20{\mu}m{\times}10{\mu}m$ 크기에$50{\mu}m$ 피치를 가지는 straight wall 형 Sn-0.7wt%Cu 솔더 범프를 형성하고자 하였다. -
Recently, 3D-electronic packaging by TSV is in interest. TSV(Through Silicon Via) is a interconnection hole on Si-wafer filled with conducting metal such as Copper. In this research, chips with TSV are connected by electroplated Sn bump without PR. Then chips with TSV are put together and stacked by the methode of Reflow soldering. The stacking was successfully done and had no noticeable defects. By eliminating PR process, entire process can be reduced and makes it easier to apply on commercial production.

This study conducts numerical simulations of Isotropic conductive adhesives using low melting point alloy fillers during the reflow process. The CIP method and predictor-corrector method are used to simulate more accurately on free surface flow of low melting point alloy fillers. For finding out optical conditions to obtain reliable conduction paths, the present study conducts extensive numerical simulations.

In this paper, fabrication of Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu solder bumping having accurate composition and behavior of intermetallic compounds(IMCs) growth at interface between Sn-Ag-Cu bumps and Cu substrate were studied. The ternary alloy of the Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu solder was made by two binary(Sn-Cu, Sn-Ag) electroplating on Cu pad. For the manufacturing of the micro-bumps, photo-lithography and reflow process were carried out. After reflow process, the micro-bumps were aged at
$150^{\circ}C$ during 1 hr to 500 hrs to observe behavior of IMCs growth at interface. As a different of Cu contents(0.5 or 2wt%) at Sn-Cu layer, behavior of IMCs was estimated. The interface were observed by FE-SEM and TEM for estimating of their each IMCs volume ratio and crystallographic-structure, respectively. From the results, it was found that the thickness of$Cu_3Sn$ layer formed at Sn-2.0Cu was thinner than the thickness of that layer be formed Sn-0.5Cu. After aging treatment$Cu_3Sn$ was formed at Sn-0.5Cu layer far thinner. -

Sn-base solder bump is mainly used in micro-joining for flip chip package. The quantity of intermetallic compounds that was formed between Cu pad and solder interface importantly affects reliability. In this research, micro-bump was fabricated by two binary electroplating and the intermetallic compounds(IMCs) was estimated quantitatively. When the micro Sn-Ag solder bump was made by electroplating, SiC powder was added in the plating solution for protecting of intermetallic growth. Then, the intermetallic compounds growth was decrease with increase of amount of SiC power. However, if the mount of SiC particle exceeds 4 g/L, the effect of the growth restraint decrease rapidly.

이 연구는 cBN과 활성 Ag계 금속필러메탈을 이용하여 접합계면에서의 금속성분과 화합물, 탄화물의 거동을 분석하는데 있다. 진공 브레이징은
$900{\sim}1000^{\circ}C$ 에서$25^{\circ}C$ 간격으로, 유지 시간은 각각 5, 10, 15, 20분으로 실시하였다. Ag-Cu-Ti을 사용하여 브레이징된 cBN은$950{\sim}1000$ 도, 유지시간 10분 사이에서 각각 건전한 계면과 표면을 얻을 수 있었으며, 계면에서 Ti-rich상과 화합물이 확인되었다. 이상의 결과로 부터 화합물의 생성과 건전한 접합공정은 브레이징 온도와 시간이 좌우하며, N과 B, Ti의 함유량이 cBN의 브레이징 접합 특성의 중요변수로 생각되어진다. cBN과 Ag계 브레이징 필러의 계면에서의 미세조직 및 화학반응의 메커니즘은 DTA, SEM, EPMA, XRD를 이용하여 분석하였다. -
현재 다이아몬드 공구에서 극세선에 브레이징 공정을 이용하여 다이아몬드를 접합하는 기술은 국내외 적으로 전무한 상태이다. 이 연구는 금속 와이어에 다이아몬드를 브레이징을 실시하여 최적의 와이어 브레이징 공정법을 개발 하는데 있다. 다이아몬드와 금속필러메탈 접합 계면에서의 금속성분과 탄화물의 거동을 분석하며, 브레이징에 따른 와이어의 물성 변화를 관찰하였다. 금속필러로는 Ag-Cu-5Ti(wt.%)을 사용하였으며, 와이어는 스테인리스를 이용하였다. 브레이징 공정은 진공 접합 장치를 이용하여
$800{\sim}1000^{\circ}C$ 에서 유지시간$5{\sim}30$ 분로 실시하였다. 브레이징된 다이아몬드는$900{\sim}950$ 도, 유지시간 10분 사이에서 각각 건전한 계면과 표면을 얻을 수 있었으며, 계면에서 Ti-rich상과 화합물이 확인되었다. 또한 열처리 따른 와이어의 최적의 건전한 상태를 고찰 하였다. 다이아몬드와 Ag계 브레이징 필러의 계면에서의 미세조직 및 화학반응의 메커니즘은 SEM, EPMA, XRD를 이용하여 분석하였다. -
In this paper, the effects of the reflow number in the mechanical reliability of flip chip solder joint was investigated by flip chip shear test and thermal shock test. For evaluation mechanical reliability of flip chip, We experiment that specimens were operated 3-times, 6-times, 9-times, 12-times under reflow Process. After shear test and thermal shock test, We measured max shear strength and coming first crack number of thermal cycle. And We observe fracture surface and cross section by using SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope) and optical scope. In the results, the more specimens were operated reflow process, the more decreased maximum shear strength and number of thermal cycle.

For this study, SM45C steel rods using generally for power transmission shafts and machine components was selected and welded by Butt-GMAW method. and then it was studied about estimation of fatigue strength and the region of infinite life. From this result, it is demanded that the stress for safety design of machine components using SM45C butt-welded steel rods must be selected in the region of the lowest infinite life of heat affected zone.

In nuclear power plants, residual stress of dissimilar metal weld propagates cracks in the weld metal which is susceptible to stress corrosion cracking. Overlay welding is a process widely used to mitigate residual stress replacing inside tensile stress by compressing stress. The purpose of this paper is to predict the effect of weld overlay by finite element analysis.

Many processes have been introduced to join PE pipes, but most of these methods have lots of disadvantages such as costs and lack of reliability, etc. Recently due to the benefits of cost, safety and reliability, the but welding has been paid much attention to join PE pipes. In case of butt welding, the heat plate which is used to melt PE pipes is the most critical equipment. In this study, after designed secondary developed heat plate of new shape, the PE double wall pipes were but-welding by using the developed heat plate and secondary developed heat plate and comparison of weld-zones and tensile test were performed. As results of tensile test, tensile strengths using secondary developed heat plate were measured higher
$1.17{\sim}1.5$ than using developed heat plate. -
This paper reviews corrosion characteristics of welded in the area of 409 Stainless Steel, Aluminium and Carbon steel. The effects of alloying elements and welding conditions on the intergranular-corrosion in weldment of the 409 stainless steels(SS) were investigated. And then this was to investigate factors affecting the composition and concentrations of fumes generated from various types of welding processes. It is also suggested that the direct relationship between the corrosion characteristics and welding type be clarified by experimental and analytical results.

The superconductor characteristics of BSCCO spray films by Heat treatment was studied.
$Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_x$ (Bi-2212) is high-Tc superconductor(HTS) coatings have been prepared by Heat treatment. Where high current carrying capabilities are required and therefore thick film and bulk material are called for, the Bi2Sr2Ca1Cu2O8-d(Bi-2212)compound has evoleved as one of the most promising. and the Bi-2212 HTS coating layer is synthesized through the peritectic reaction between Sr-Ca-Cu oxide coating layer and Bi-Cu oxide coating layer by partial melting process. The superconducting characteristics depends on the spray distance which was related to the spray particle melt. The Bi-2212 HTS layer consists of the whisker growth and secondary phase in 2212 layer were observed. -

Ir-192 source is one of the most widely used radioisotopes in the field of non-destructive testing applications. To obtain radiation safety it is necessary to take into consideration integrity of welded joint in the production of sealed radiation source. Generally, the quality of a resistance welded joint is strongly influenced by process parameters during the welding process such as current, welding time and applied force. In this study, resistance welding technology and system were developed for sealing of Ir-192 industrial radiation source capsules. In order to evaluate the weld quality in real time, quantitative relationships between process parameters and electrode displacement were also established.

It shows not only positive effect with fan as a way of improving condition in workplace but also shows air supply, ventilation condition in welding site with CFD analyzation. Also when the wind blew to the front side by a fan, the welding Hume significantly reduced, As this was examined as CFD and was gone through enough exhaustion to become streamline flow laminar, the toxic materials will be reduced. The improvement of welding work and education are investigated to be more significant factors than wearing protective equipments and setting safety tools to prevent welding works from welding fume exposure.

Two metal cored composite wires were manufactured to satisfy AWS F7A4-EC-G specification. They were used to weld EH36 grade steels with three different fluxes. Variation of carbon, manganese, silicon, titanium, and boron contents which affect the weld metal strength in weld metal was investigated.

Friction Spot Joining(FSJ) has a strong potential for aluminum alloy joining in automobile industries. The present paper focuses on the attempt to optimize the FSJ process for lap joining of A5052-H32 and A6061-T6 aluminum alloys. For A5052 maximum tensile shear strength has been observed for a tool rotating speed of 800rpm and for A6061 at 1000 rpm. Study on fracture modes of the tensile tested specimens of both A5052-H32 and A6061-T6 revealed, for high tensile strength values, plug fracture mode and lower tensile values, shear fracture mode. Above 2000 rpm distortion of the base metal, beside the tool shoulder was larger and plug fracture mode has been observed.

Nd:YAG laser welding of AZ31B-H24 magnesium alloy was carried out using AZ61 filler wire(Mg-6wt%Al-1wt%Zn). Microstructure and mechanical properties of welded joint were examined by optical microscopy, scanning electronic microscopy(SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS), electron probe micro analyzer(EPMA) and victors hardness, tensile test at the room and elevated temperature. Test results indicate that the specimens welded with AZ61 filler wire have better tensile strength, elongation and victors hardness at room temperature than those of welded without filler wire. However tensile strength are similar but elongation are quite different at elevated temperature.

It was carried out to evaluate microstructure and mechanical properties of friction stir welded(FSW) on magnesium alloys. Two types magnesium alloy was used in this work, AZ31 wrought and AZ91 cast magnesium alloy. Microstructure near the weld zone showed general weld structures such as stir zone(SZ), thermo-mechanically affected zone(TMAZ) and heat affected zone(HAZ). In the AZ91 alloy, the SZ had a fine grain size and
$\beta$ phase particles which were well distributed in matrix. It was characterized to redistribute by partial or full re-solution of the$\beta$ phase which is coarse in base metal during FSW processing. The hardness of the SZ slightly increase than the base metal in AZ31 Mg alloy. -

The resistance spot weldability of surface textured cold-rolled steel sheet was evaluated. One steel sheet(T4.5) showed reduced electrode life with less than 2000 welds, and all other steel sheets(E2.2, E4.5, T2.2) made more than 2500 welds. The carbon imprint test revealed that there is sudden electrode diameter increase around 1700 welds. It is believed that the increased electrode diameter decreased current density, and resulted in decreasing weld electrode life due to small weld button size. It is considered that surface roughness difference may attribute to heating during weld cycle and reduced the weld electrode life. -
The microstructures and mechanical properties with the different Sc content of AA2519 FSW joint were investigated in this study. The sound FSW joints were obtained under applied all welding conditions such as the Sc content and the tool rotation speed. The grain size of the stir zone decreased slightly with increasing the Sc content. And the ultimate tensile strength increased and elongation decreased with increasing the Sc content. The intermetallic compound contained the Sc is considered to bring out the improvement of mechanical property in FSW joint.

Titanium and its alloys have excellent corrosion resistance, high strength to weight ratios and high temperature creep properties, which make them using many various fields of application. Responding to these needs, welding processes for titanium are also being used including TIG, MIG, resistance welding, plasma arc welding, diffusion welding, electron beam welding and laser welding. In this study, It is possible to get sound beads without humping bead and spatter with the decrease of peak power according to increase of pulse width and change of welding speed for heat input control at pulsed Nd:YAG laser welding of titanium plates for Lap welding.
