In recent days, it is usual case to extend the dwelling area to the balcony which is provided by service area. But the use of the extended area can be arisen discomfort with a view point of thermal environment by excessive heat accumulation in summer and excessive cold draft in winter. In this study, the skills were reviewed to improve the thermal environment of the extended area and evaluations were carried out. Additional heat supply by heat-convector installed at the lower end of the curtain wall can improve the thermal environment of the extended area and also arise surface temperature of the curtain wall surface. And aluminum plate installed under the floor could not improve the thermal environment but it was effective to shortening the initial heating time.

In this paper, we compared the thermal environment in the livingroom with panel heating system of Korea and Japan. The houses are two apartments and two single houses in Korea, and two apartments in Japan. The outdoor temperatures, indoor air temperatures, surface temperatures on floor and humidities were measured. The survey to the residents and recording of operation were also collected. The results were as follows.1. The Korean houses are warmer and drier(approximately 23
$^{\circ}$ C, 38%) than those of Japan.(approximately 20$^{\circ}$ C, 57%). And indoor temperaures of Korean apartment are stabie. 2.The residents in Japan put on and off the switches of the heating system frequently. -
Now days, as the consideration of sound environment is getting important, method of physical measurement such as reverberation time and sound pressure level becomes common. However, such method cant include subjective sensation such as personal emotion and feeling, evaluation. So there is a limitation to make the most optimized sound environment. Therefore, in the present experiment, I improve big indoor gymnasium that has sound defect because of too long reverberation time. After that, I conduct the auditory sense evaluation of human psychological response. From the experiment, I will make research into sound satisfaction rate about the subject space and response of each item. As well as, I will present the result as basic database of sound environment improvement experiment of indoor gymnasium.

The present article has the purpose of evaluating subjective response of Won Buddhism sanctums by psychoacoustics experiment. Furthermore, basing on this experiment, the present article makes a suggestion of a physical sound-evaluating index. To achieve the purpose, I conducted an psychoacoustics experiment at 6 sanctuaries out of the representing 40 sanctuaries of Won Buddhism sanctums, which size is bigger than 1,000 m
$^3$ . I made a reanalysis with 3 Buddhist sanctums out of the subjects of psychoacoustics experiment which are generally rated superior. From the result, I can make each evaluation type into two types, sound clarity and space sense of sound. Also, I make various suggestions of physical parameter, with which I can evaluate the proper sound condition for Won Buddhism sanctums. -
The present article evaluates a performance hall, which improves sound efficiency. In general, the sidewall of the music hall is plane circle. thus there happens a focus phenomenon. To overcome it. the music hall improves its sound efficiency by making its sidewall irregular. After measuring impulse response from the performance hall, evaluation indices on the temporal distribution of sound energy such as RT, EDT, D50, C80, RASTI and BR were obtained, and based on them, indoor acoustic characteristics and the generation of echoes were determined. According to the results, evaluation indices showed that the acoustic condition was satisfactory in general. This study is to provide fundamental data for acoustic design of music hall with round form by analyzing the room acoustic characteristics of music hall.

This paper is contents about method to measure interception performance of shock noise of floor slab of apartment house to be simple. In the case of interception performance of light floor impact sound level, according to measurement method, grade of sound insulation performance showed greatly differently. But, in the case of interception performance of heavy floor impact sound level, it was similar result in all measurement method. Therefore, use of simple method of measurement was examined by possible fact in case of interception performance of heavy floor impact sound level.

This paper is contents about vibration character that produce floor slab make up of concrete when played striking at each location. An experiment was achieved in apartment house just before occupancy which build newly to 100m
$^2$ scale. Vibration level plays striking in whole 9 places and measured vibration character of x, y, z direction. As the result, vibration level of verticality direction showed high than horizontality direction. -
In recent days, IAQ(Indoor Air Quality) is regarded as one of the most important environmental factors as well as thermal and acoustic comfort. Various architectural materials are applied and air-tightness of the building is more strengthening to save energy consumption. This is why the air quality of the newly built houses became worse. In this study, contaminants(CO, CO
$_2$ , Radon, TVOCs, HCHO) density was measured in a newly built house and evaluation was carried out by ASHRAE and EPA Standards. As a result, CO, CO$_2$ , TSP and Radon density of the newly built house was in a range of ASHRAE and EPA Standards, but it turned out TVOCs and HCHO density exceeds almost 3${\sim}$ 5 times in comparison with that of ASHRAE and EPA Standards. -
The ambient noise in modem society is the factor to give people serious influence. Noise barriers installation is mostly used in the apartment estate to protect countermeasure about the road traffic ambient noise. The purpose of this study is to suggest reference data fur design of traffic noise reduction in apartment estate. It finds out how the traffic noise is measured about a noise barriers and physical characteristics. The 57dB was measured from the noise barriers in a 2m point. An ambient noise's of the part to belong noise attenuation is big at the sound arresting area of the noise barriers as the distance far.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the noise environment of one-room type multi-family housing around the campus. The field measurements on equivalent noise level of indoor and outdoor were carried out in 6 subject house units during the 26th
${\sim}$ 28th of November 2002. The results are as follows. 1) Outdoor noise levels of 6 subject buildings were distributed 52.8${\sim}$ 65.3dB(A) and were inappropriate to the standard for environmental noise, 55dB(A). 2) Indoor noise level of 6 subject house units were measured 27.5${\sim}$ 63.5dB(A). These values were higher than the indoor noise standard (40dB(A)) except subject house D(average 37.6dB(A)). 3) It was found that the differences of indoor noise levels between subject house units were caused by resident's living factor, characteristics of window, and existence of balcony. -
The purpose of this study was to survey the residential satisfaction of the residents who lives in Bundang in order to offer the information helpful to housing designers and housing policy makers. Documentary research and questionnaire survey methods were used in this research. The sample was taken from 320 the residents living in Seoul. Data were analyzed with the SPSS PC+ window version. The results were as follows: 1) residents were satisfied with rather their housing unit than residential environment, 2) there is significant difference the evaluation of residential satisfaction according to the age of husband and wife, the educational level of wife, 3) there is significant difference the evaluation of residential satisfaction according to living area, housing type, housing size, homeownership, living period

Fast economic growth resulted in fast industrialization and metropolitanization. At that time, housing was supplied in large quantity, and the apartment became a dominant type of housing in Korea It is partly due to the high population density. But, large quantity supply of apartments caused a lot of problems. One of the biggest problems is decomposition of traditional communities. As interest about quality of life grows since the 90's, the recovery of communities is getting an import assignment that should be solved. Architects investigate ways of arrangement and community facilities planning. off-line Communities might be substituted by or supported with cyber communities through the use of IT technology. The construction of cyber apartment is getting popular by the governmental incentive in 1999. At first, the infrastructure has been constructed, and then the current emphasis in on forming the information community to provide various service.

The green space become more important in the city. It is shown as the urban neighborhood park. But the current problem of urban neighborhood parks planning in Ulsan is uniform without reflecting area's characteristic. The Purpose of this study is to propose the planning methods of urban neighborhood parks by surveying characteristic of each urban neighborhood parks in Ulsan actual states and use behaviors.

The purpose of this study is to propose design guidelines for vitalizing neighborhood traditional markets within the city of Ulsan. To do practical study, we surveyed 9 markets in Ulsan. we analyzed results of the problems through investigating physical characteristics, its conditions and collected user's information by interview.

The purpose of this study was 1) to analyze the attitudes about Senior Congregate Housing(SCH) among 4 urban areas, 2) to propose the various model for SCH which should be provided to satisfy the demand. Same opinions among 4 urban areas were ; 1) Whom were willing to move into SCH for later life, most of them were in early 50s. Most of the respondents desired to be serviced community alarm system preferred one-room style, size of 11
${\sim}$ 15 Pyung, and preferred living at suburban area The multi-family type was preferred when not being healthy and be singled, but if healthy, preferred the type of single detached house. And they preferred the home ownership, highly valued of heating control system, health care and leisure programs. But different opinions among 4 urban areas were ; 2) Willingness live in SCH for later life had little difference in level of income, education, property. Especially, residents of Seoul Metropolitan area and Busan did not want to open their own common facilities to the public. -
This study was purposed of finding housing characteristics, especially bathroom and preferred by the Elderly in Daejeon City. Collected By housing expenses and an administrative district, the Elderly over 65 were interviewed by well-trained investigators and 583 case was analyzed through SPSS PC 10.0. The results of this study were as follows ; They have a little emphasized emergency bell and convenience of a balustrade and have layed stress on non-slip floor in bathroom and stairways. Non-slip floor was considered more important thing for safety by the elderly.

This study aimed to analyze the housing lifestyles of one person households (OPH) with the perspective of digital placemaking in order to suggest the planning criteria for OPH house. The structured questionnaire survey was accomplished by 145 OPH. The main findings were as follows. (1) OPH's housing lifestyles were classified into four types composed of ten factors. (2) The user preference for the space organization was varied by four types of housing lifestyles. (3) Most OPH required the informational appliances and their needs for other digital appliances were significantly differed by four types of housing lifestyles.

This study is to investigate residents' living satisfaction with high-rise mixed-use apartment complexes built in the structures of the reinforced concrete constructing and the steel framed reinforced concrete construction. The results of this study were obtained as follows: 1. Residents expressed below average satisfaction (below 3.0) with the common-area landscape and environmentally-friendly factors, children's playground and its facilities, community service for residents' by the management offices and the plan of utility. 2.According to the satisfaction of sound environment, residents of SRC group expressed above average satisfaction; it can be concluded that problems of causing noise around the residential area of the SRC and S groups were well solved in this study. However, satisfaction with the freshness of indoor air, humidity, and smell in the living quarters was rated low by the residents of SRC group. 3. High-rise mixed-use apartment complexes should accomodate families's life cycle, design an environmentally-friendly resting place in harmony with city life, and provide various communal programs for residents.

The purpose of this study is to propose a ‘nature-friendly’ kindergarten playground design process, which is adopted from users needs. The concept of the design was decided by the pictures drawn by children, kindergarten owner's educational philosophy, and by the request of the teachers. As a result the concept approached to 'our neighborhood (Korean traditional village)'image, and was planned with a focus on an open space, which allows nature-like elements(earth ground, trees, flowers vegetable farm water and sand etc.) and various play activities.

Cohousing is communities balance the traditional advantages of home ownership with the benefits of shared common facilities and ongoing connections with your neighbors. It is characterized by private dwellings with their own kitchen living-dining room etc, but also extensive common facilities. These cooperative neighborhoods are one of the most promising solutions to many of today's most challenging social and environmental concerns. The purpose of this study is suggest planning direction to cohousing as alternative house. It focuses on the planning method through case study. The result of the study are summarized as follow ; Size of cohousing is 20
${\sim}$ 50 family. Location of cohousing is urban. Type of house is detached house+row house. Size per family is 0${\sim}$ 15m$^2$ . Common house makes up kitchen, dining-room living-room, guest room nursery room and so on. -
Quantitative planning element and qualitative planning instruction which are required for planning and evaluating environment-friendly building are accessed in previous studies. In this study, the concept of symbiotic housing is introduced for upgrading existing planning elements, so as to study the planning elements collectively. This study can be summarized as below: (1) Planning elements for saving energy and using resources effectively are added in order to preserve the earth environment. (2) In order to harmonize with neighboring environment more, sunshine duration of neighboring buildings is considered; streets and village view are harmonized; space in-between is prepared. (3) For healthy and amenity residential environment, following items are added, improved pleasantness of inside and outside space; improved amenity and health of housing; and, co-dwelling with large scope. Besides, the necessity of residents' agreement is proposed to induce residents' participation, which has not been mentioned before.

This study analyzes the problems, which the residential inner area has, and proposes systematic and gradual progressing improvement plan for the residential environment in the inner area. Also, planning instruction is proposed through the case study of parcel·jointed complex housing. This study can be concluded as below: (1) Improvement plans sub-divided into promoting districts and inducing districts of the residential inner area are proposed. (2) Necessity for construction of streets is proposed in order to compensate existing problems in sites. (3) Necessity of complex housings is proposed fur roadsides of household unit or small-sized annexation of parcel. (4) Collecting design examples and existing literatures, the planning guideline for jointed parcel complex housing is proposed based on the established relation with a whole surface of streets, formation and distribution of purposes and increased role of exterior space.

This study intends to make a counterproposal for re-building existing high-rise/high-dense buildings and for planlessly re-constructing multi-dwellings. Also, it proposes the plan instruction fur reconstruction by small collective housings through annexing parcels in the residence Inner area. This study can be summarized as below: (1) Remained site generated by site boundaries can be utilized by annexing two or more parcels. (2) Vacant lots between buildings can be utilized as building space or common space by small-sized annexation. (3) Bad effect of residential environment caused by simultaneous development of total blocks can be minimized. (4) Formation of site size and plane, which are advantageous to reconstruction, is available. (5) Accessibility to neighboring roads can increase. (6) Residents' participation in development can increase in economical and planning aspect. In order to utilize these planning instruction, residents' participation and improved public ownership system for parcel annexation are required.

Since 1960's Mapo Apartment Housing, the apartment housing has been established as the typical urban housing type, and its design of outdoor spaces being transformed diversely. The purpose of this study is to identify the periodical trend of outdoor space design by analysing the elements of outdoor spaces in the apartment housing estates constructed in Daejon City.

The purpose of this study is to establish the rainwater Utilization for the housing complex through the using rainwater, infiltration and detention. This study focused on the following items. 1) Legal basic conditions for the rainwater utilization in Germany 2) Case study on the rainwater management with examples. As the results of this study, it is necessary to implement these rainwater management system in laws, legal norms and technical regulation.

The purpose of this study is to find out the residents' needs fer the residential services according to residents' characteristics in multi-family housing. The results of this study are as follows 1) It was found that the 22 elements were selected as the residential services and they were categorized by 5 factors for the analysis 2) The ranked favorable needs of residential-services were the garbage separation(M=3.97), the apartment complex management (M=3.89), the parking management(M=3.88) etc. orderly. 3) As to there results analyzing the needs for the residential services, it was found that there were differences in needs according to the residents' characteristics. Therefore, this study emphasized on the necessity of the planning to classify the residential services according to the residents' characteristics.

Therefore this study has a purpose to show the characteristics of related companies and the process of Japanese Co-operative Housing through the field trip in Japan.

The purpose of this study is to analyze how the concept of Korean traditional characteristics has been reflected in modem residential complex. The specific objective of this study is to identify the features of space planning in the exterior design of modem residential complex. This study is based on the content analysis in the site-plans of the selected case and adopteded in quantitative analysis for spatial characteristic using the space syntax modeling methods.

The characteristics of Japanese housing stock is as follows. 1. It is predicted that population from 2010 and general household from 2015 will decrease. The aging speed in Japan is faster than several advanced nations. 2. Housing shortage has resolved from 1973. In 1998, dwelling number per household is 1.13 houses and vacant dwelling rate is 11.5 percents. 3. Dwelling level of rented dwelling is lower than owner occupied houses; for instance, floor area of the former is one third of the latter. As for a household of thirties, family type household lived in rented houses reached 60 percents, it reveals that the demand exceeds the supply. 4. Houses constructed before the new earthquake resistant standard enforced from 1981 year is the half of the whole, housing improvement is needed in the future. Future housing market is changed to practical use of housing stock. Consequently, expansion of multi-habitation used a vacant housing of city dwellers, activation of the used houses distribution, growth of dwelling reform market, and activation of the rented houses are expected.

The purpose of this study is to suggest basic data to establish policy directions for improvement on quality of rural housing in Korea. A literature survey were used fur study The contents of survey includes policy supports in rural Korea and rural America. The results of the study grasped the situations that the newly built and repair, a vacant house, landscape and welfare with the support of rural housing policy in Korea. Also rural affordable housing policy examined supports of RHS programs in USDA variously. Based on the results, some policy directions to rural housing and community were suggested.

This reserch is to compare and analyze of the residence disposition and feature of ground plan on Seomi 2 Dong in An-dong and Hyun-ri in Mun-gyong. The scope of this reserch concentrated on 33-housed which are 12-housed in Seomi 2 Dong and 21-housed in Hyun-ri. The focus of this reserch is mainly to investigate the characteristic of the site, and ground plans on individual houses. As result of it, there are mostly Yeo-Kan houses (six spans sized) on Seomi 2-dong village in An-Dong on the other hand there are a lot of Straight-Houses in Hyun-ri in Mun-gyong. Otherwise in characteristic of residence, There is dissimilarity between Seomi 2-dong which located in mountainous districts has space organization of utilitarian and Hyun-Ri has justification primacy as a farm village.

Urban residential redevelopment policies have inevitably been bound up with issue of conflicts among renewal associatios, local government and developer. The purpose of paper is to examine the causes of conflicts through four residential environment redevelopment projects. In result for the successful redevelopment projects, strategies for citizen paticipation program and relocation should be set up.

The purpose of this research is to analyse the relationship between the types of supplied apartment plans and the dweller's remodelling of their housework space. Major findings of this research are as fellows: 1. The concept of house wort space has been greatly changed according to the evolution of socio-economic situation. 2. Increasing trend of remodelling activities for house work space is closely related with the housewife's changing attitude on the concept of house work, that is, the change from hard labor to enjoyable object. 3. The concern for house work space remodelling has been increased since 1980's, which is closely related with the appearance of consumer oriented housing market environment.

This study aims to understand the architectural characteristics and living pattern of the Daor and to make a comparative study with the Han race. This research inquired into the background of the Daor and surveyed the present condition of traditional houses. As a result of this study, the features of Daor's traditional house is synthesized as follows. 1) The arrangement of village is in a row facing south. The site plan and exterior shape is like as the Manchurian race. 2) Making west window and creating a bright atmosphere is the unique architectural style. 3) Viewed from spatial layout and function, Daor's has more remarkable difference from Han's. That is to say, the room equipped with Kang is daily space and kitchen is just space for cooking in contrast with the Han.

1999년부터 20세대 이상의 신규 주택분양시 분양가격 규제가 철폐되었다. 2001년 이후 아파트를 중심을 가격이 상승하자 그 원인이 신규 주택의 분양가격이 상승하였기 때문이라는 주장이 나오면서 분양가를 다시 규제해야 한다는 의견이 나오고 있다. 본 연구는 분양가격의 상승 실태와 재고 주택가격간의 관계를 고찰하여 분양가격 규제가 필요한지 여부를 검토한다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the architectural visual identity, and scheme of conceptional extent of architectural visual identity through literature research and sample analysis by design factors for apartment design. Korea National Housing Corporation's Mapo apartment put first caterer which is continued about 30 years to solve shortage of houses by beginning and the impact of IMF and the price decontrol on second half in the 1990s have changed the housing status to commercial goods. Construction companies have introduced brand concept to satisfy consumer's appetite in production of house goods including apartment under market situation. Importance of visual identity in apartment design occupies has risen in heftily. However most companies are in condition of stay on two-dimensional application that uses symbol, logotype, and character assistance. Several high position construction companies are trying architectural visual identity, but those are applied in partial element and those are not going forward to systematic classification and synthetic visual identity plan within peculiarity of apartment complex. This study is to grasp plan and design tendency to acquire identity of design element of construction field and goods through design examination. In conclusion visual identity in apartment design is architectural visual identity on all of 2 dimensions and 3 dimension for application. Architectural visual identity is a language of form that prescribe identity about external appearance in combination with brand image.

This study has analyzed the environmental characteristics of Cheong-Ju city and the priority of residential choice elements by residents. The results of analysis are as follows. 1) The rate of housing supply in Cheong-ju city is low at 80.2%, concentrated on small sized apartments. Furthermore educational and traffic facilities are much insufficient. 2) While residential choice in Chong-ju is heavily characterised by educational surroundings, it is less affected by both economy such as housing prices, the value of investments and accessibility to public transportations, distance to working places. 3) It is affected by residents' general characters like the sell age, life cycle, education level, properties, home ownership, number of room and type of house they want.

Purpose of this study is to supply data that need in qualitative improvement and plan for middle class through a post occupancy evaluation by the tenants in the rental apartment of national housing size. The results of this study are as follows; 1) Characteristic of household differ as the size tenants live in at present. But, usually characteristic of household was family life cycle was from child-rearing time to secondary education time, a family's number was 3
${\sim}$ 4 person, and income per month was 1${\sim}$ 3 million won. 2) The satisfaction of whole and physical environment were satisfied more than average 3 points. However, the satisfaction of economic performance and administration environment were dissatisfied by average 3 points low. 3) Factors that affect in housing satisfaction were administration environment, the housing size, a family's number. -
The development of rapid science technology and data communication technology in 1990 was infiltrated into our real lives deeply and drew forth various changes in various sides. According to that with the new definition of the character of space the users' patterns in the space were changed. We come to have a turning point of change with the introduction of personal computer and digital revolution late in the 20th century. Accordingly, this study is to analyze the connected structure of the space on a basis of the apartment model house since 2000 in order to investigate the aspect of changing the space according to the era of informationization. This analysis of space structure makes the characteristics in the era of informationization objectified. And it will understand the distinct change of space by grasping the relations with the connection of space, and predict the direction that the dwelling space heads for the future.

The main gate of university is a symbolic role to grasp the its activities within a limited area. The form or shape is various at its circumstances such as activity type, region, etc. The study aimed at offering the information to grasp the fixed quantity to an university gate plan which analyzed a psychological judgment criteria according to form or shape characteristics of the university main gate. It selected ten universities through a classification of the types. The twenty adjective phrases were extracted by review of the further research. After then, it extracted to draw high adjective in observers visual image formation. This study analyzed the preference, symbolized representation of the university main gate. The results are summarized as follows : 1. The symbol and representation of form has a high correlation. In other words, the symbolic scale would be high positively when the representation scale be high. 2. Eight items among the twenty adjective items appeared to explain the university main gates. The twelve items of them wouldn't be related to grasp the main gate

The purpose of this study was to find out the moving motivation of senior cohousing inhabitants in Scandinavian countries, which experienced change of typical nuclear family structure and higher vocational activity rates of women, earlier than East Asian countries. Cohousing schemes were evolved as an alternative housing to reduce housework for working women, and to reduce loneliness of elderly people by promoting active mutual relationship among inhabitants in the community. This paper described why the elderly moved to senior cohousing in Sweden and Denmark. The project was carried out by social survey. 935 postal questionnaires were sent from April to May 2002 to 28 senior cohousing communities throughout Denmark and Sweden. Of those, 536 replies (57.3%) were collected and analyzed by SPSS program. 19 moving motivations were discussed connected with the variables such as characteristics of residents, community-initiative, and dwelling size. As a result ideology of senior cohousing, wanting to be free from housing management and physical attraction of the building could be interpreted as main reasons to make inhabitants move to senior cohousing community. The important variables affecting moving motivation were found out as living situation and community-initiative. This findings could be used for some information to architects, designers and decision makers who intend to develope senior cohousing projects in the near future in Korea as well as Scandinavian countries.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between the affective responses and residents' satisfaction in apartment housing estates. This study was conducted to empirically identify the effect of physical contents of apartment buildings on the affective response and satisfaction of residents. The area for evaluation was limited to four apartment buildings in Daegu, and the subjects for evaluation were also limited to a group of residents living at the four apartment buildings. SPSSWIN, a statistical program was used for analysis.
