The Purpose of this study was to identify the effects of the elderly Koreans of residential relocation and to find their conditioning variables that mediate some of the negative effects of residential relocation. The research was performed by questionnares. Subject samples consisted of 448 elderly individuals who have lived for two years or less in one of the two new residential communities in commuting proximity with Seoul: Ilsan or Bundang. Two variables measured for the life of the elderly to residential relocation were the change of the social relationship network and the change of the depression level. Results indicated that the relocation had a substantial disrupting effect on the social network of the elderly. The level of depression of the subjects after relocation was decresed. It was also found that the effects of the elderly to residential relocation was mainly affected by physical factors of environment and residential satisfaction.

The purpose of this study is to provide a basic information for the plan of neighborhood facilities as residential environment. For the purpose of this study, this paper is to investigate all criteria of neighborhood unit on the related laws and regulations, As a result, the legal criteria of neighborhood unit has come to no conclusion of terms(the neighborhood life facilities, the life benifit facilities, the neighborhood facilities, etc.) and ranges(the density of population, the number of floors, etc). Therefore a consistent neighborhood unit can be applied to the development plans of new cities as well as new residential areas for the future.

It is very well known all over the world that Sweden has a long history of social welfare. especially in the area of housing for the elderly and they have managed it succesfully until now. In this study. the group homes for the elderly with dementia which is adapted and developed in Sweden recently is discussed in reference to the characteristics of the inhabitants. way of management, characteristic of architectural design for the group homes in order to find any possibility to apply it in Korea in the future.

The Purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of the space composition of Korean traditional residence by analysing the meaning and function of traditional residence's An-Daecheong of late Chosun dynasty, as well as its interrelationship with other spaces. It can be analysed. then that such factors as the weak economic ablility of the current agricultural society and reduction of the number of family member have made the function of the An-Daecheong weak, and that such factors as westernization of life style and modernization of residence facilities have reduced the functional interrelationship of the An-Daecheong. An-Madang and Kitchen.

This study aims at finding out the characteristics of the spatial organization for the private house and housing environment of an old village ‘Moo-Yee Ma-Yul’, Sun-san, KyungBuk, Korea. This village has sheltered since 5～600 years ago and is located geometrical on the buffer area between Southen and Northen area of South Korea, and is composed by two types of housing form; one is southen type and the other Northen. The housing was definded on scale with the ecinomical basement, and is changing rapidly on the quality of its environments such as the city-life housing style with the recently increasing income. The surveying time on the site was october 25th-30th and June 21st-22nd, 1996

This study was conducted to examine the environmental factors of apartments and therefore to suggest elements necessary to plan environments by evaluating and analysing both reside environments and conditions with residents at high-rise apartments in Kumi city. Kyongbuk. Korea. The result of this study is summarized as follows: The evaluation of satisfaction showed that residents residing at apartment A tended to be satisfaied with all factors other than ‘complex’ although there was wholly dissatisfaction. In addition. it was shown that apartment B was satisfaied with housing and complex. apartment C with comfort. respectively, and apartment D with housing.

The purpose of this study is to research the residents' subjective opinion the apartment noise. To attain this purpose. we investigated 182 residents' responses at “Da” apartment in Chonju. . Analysis showed the following results. The residents which are living in the building next to the road strongly felt the external traffic noise. The residents living on the first to fifth above the sixth to fifteenth also are suffering from the internal noise. Generally speaking. the apartment residents' life are considerably disturbing with noises. Especially this disturbance was serious in summer.
