The purposes of this study were to summarize the concept of well-being and well-being apartment, to grasp the present condition of apartments which were introduced with well-being factors, and to find out the consumer preferences of design factors for well-being apartment. Library and internet surveys were performed to summarize the concept of well-being and well-being apartment and to grasp the present condition of apartments which were introduced with well-being factors. Questionnaire survey was carried out from 2nd to 22nd of June 2005, to investigate the preferences of design factors for well-being apartment, and the respondents were 250 residents living in urban area. As major result, the design factors haying the preference were revealed as complex design, sports & health facility, and interior surface materials.

Recently with increasing interest in the operation of life cycle, building remodeling business is spreading like a fashion. Keeping pace with the trend, the present project carried out the remodeling of an existing neighborhood facility into a religious facility based on the concepts of remodeling, reform and renovation. Basic requirements were overcoming spatial limitations, solving structural problems, meeting various functional needs, and securing a spatial size, and the project designed the interior of the building according to these requirements suggested by the owner. To overcome the low floor height of the existing space, the main sanctuary on the 1st floor had the ceiling in the form of a slant and installed indirect lighting into the resulting gaps, maximizing the depth and width of the space visually. The subsidiary sanctuary on the first basement was finished with red bricks, forming an arch using the bricks, to create religious atmosphere. However, considering the low floor height as in the 1st floor and the ceiling even lowered by the arch structure, the arch was formed threefold and the radius of the curvature of the arch was enlarged to secure a spacious feeling. The outer appearance was finished with granite on existing structure to save the cost of construction. In addition to the use of the finishing material, the structure of the arch and the frame of the opening part and the finishing of the walls were expressed with uneven surface in order to avoid the plainness of the appearance.

There can be two definitions of modern ideal medical surroundings. One is medical services satisfied patients' with their desire and the other is places suited to remedy realized by rational operation. Particularly, in case of dental service, there is a need for an effective regard of moving lines and there are many rooms for a dental service belonged to a curer and not a curer. So a design has been developed by many concerns. flow do we proffer more familiar and comfortable places to both a curer and not a cuter. Nowadays, the design is making progress to the unprecedented and up-to-date direction. I would suggest a general plan used by a nature of an original art for this design. The design used by a nature between human beings and things is able to induce comforts and intimacies. So to speak, I would like to remove artificial design and keep up organic lines, shapes and forms of a nature like it is. This study grasps the organizational limitation of this design and the visual characteristic of organic forms used by harmonious image of a nature and a new way is applied to limited medical places, a dental service, based on the study. Also, I'm go to examine the meaning and worth of a new design and suggest the direction of it.

This design plan aims at the presentation of the representative character of Design Center by making a new image of the cafeteria that is located in the 1. floor. To create an ambience of intercommunication and relaxation, it must be set up the basic concepts like Mobility, Flexibility, Transparence and Color-Play. As the design solutions : - first of all the 360 grade reversible and removable dividers are installed around the 5 pillars - in accordance with the basic concepts Mobility and Flexibility the cubic form construct that plays not only a role of a kitchen, but also a role of a counter, is designed to be relocated at one's own. - the various kinds of seating module and the chill-out zone are introduced to bring out the functionality and the aestheticity simultaneaously - to make a contrasting image to the glass surface of the yellow-, orange- and red-colored dividers, the black chairs and tables are arranged in the middle.

The design concept of this dental clinic Interior design is emotional color expression for the medical facility. This dental clinic is showing off the new adoption of the Korean primary traditional color pallette for the medical interior design. The graphic wall of the corridor is strongly attracting the eyes of customers while wrapping the corridor wall and partition with rather unconventional primary colored graphic shaping a tooth. Also the vivid and the dynamic atmosphere are emphasized by using the red color in the treatment area and the powder room. For the space programing, I focused on the functionality of each space and the efficiency of the traffic line. Centering around the information desk, the principal traffic line Is divided Into the staffs' private movement and the public movement.

The motor show is the most popular show in domestic exhibitions. It provides many interesting events and exhibition programs from small parts of the car to luxury sedans. It should be spatially designed for not only display programs but also various other programs such as concerts or events. And it needs to approach strategic and complex plans for unique stand design because of a great number of visitors' safety and accomodation, and competition with other companies. S motor is the company of middle standing, producing the most luxurious sedans and SUVs. I had to find a display and space composition way to harmonize with luxurious sedans and outdoor vehicles in a booth. The booth had to be distinctive and unique inspite of relatively small and handicaped area compared with other companies' booths. So I designed two major plans; ceiling structure covered whole booth space and office space for staff. These plans could get completely majesty and unique design for booth, events and other programs. And the structure of booth was minimalized for visitors' safety and accomodation in great event time.

In modern society industrial structure is being altered in complex and various way owing to rapid technical development and economic development, and concerns and recognition for surrounding environment is being moth heightened. For this reason, modern people requite the environment which can be applied in more pleasant and convenient way, and in order to satisfy such requirements, importance of the interior design mote vividly stands out, and concerns or the society for the design is being more Heightened these days. Especially, as for the design of the office space, the study transforming the office, which is the rendezvous of the information, into the business environment with more comfortable and sensitivity, being free rrom the design concentrated on the business efficiency and economic feasibility, has been actively proceeded. As it is the reality that various and new types of the business spaces have appeared, new office landscape design is requited as the device to solve the matter related to the society change. It is purposed to propose the office space which is comfortable together with flowing sensitivity by applying the color plan that unconsciously controls the human sense through remodeling of mid size of the office space.

The purpose of this study was to examine preference for the planning components of kitchen according to residential characteristics. The questionnaire survey was adopted in this study, and 184 cases were used for data analysis. The questionnaire consisted of condition and preference in size, location, and layout of kitchen, remodeling elements, and satisfaction with kitchen. Frequency, percentage, and mean, correlation, x2-test, and ANOVA were used for data analysis. Subjects preferred the kitchen of size $4{\sim}5$ pyung. And they tended to prefer the kitchen located the inside and 6th shape-separated kitchen from dinning area. The findings showed that the preference of the planning components of kitchen according to residential characteristics was not distinct except housing size.

Ministry of Construction and Transportation approved amendments to the Seongnam City that permits the redevelopment of Seongnam City in December 2001, The city will begin the first of three phases in the redevelopment which will be spread over more than ten years. This study aims at inquiring into the design process of the 'Seongnam Redevelopment Exhibition Center' project by focusing on the role of the architectural and exhibitional designer. In terms of architectural approach, 'Seongnam Redevelopment Exhibition Center' will play a role environmentally as a street object, and functionally as an exhibitory, selling, public, educational and cultural space for Seongnam citizens. The plan of exhibition space, cultural space, rest area and office space is not independent or contradictory but organical in a three-floor composition.

Medical institution has changed into specialized spaces for patients. In particular, women's hospital is the most noticeable change among the medical institutions. The purpose of this study is to provide a basic interior design data through the analysis of case study. For this purpose this study has analyzed of 4 women's hospital built in Seoul since 2000. Especially, environment of ward, resting room, and corridor are analyzed. The results of this study are as follows : Ward needs lighting and room conditioning system which is adjustable for each patient. One-side corridor and alcove-style resting rooms are suitable for patients in general.

The purpose of this study is to actualize the unit planning space. First, to understand various needs about residential space of apartments inhabitants. It is necessary for us to understand exactly what differences of residential needs and how different they are with todays's viewpoint because different residential life should be developed according to family structure, age and personality. Second, to suggest plan type as many as possible to reflect and accept various residential needs of inhabitants. The main bed room is normal used for the space of husband and wife, it is necessary to consider the room to be free from the main living room, to introduce variety in the area division or location of rooms an to mark kitchen and dining room as family room or pieasure room besides as a working space

The purpose of this project is to greatly elevate the image of a high-technology wireless communication company by improving its office space environment through remodeling techniques. In order to accomplish this goal, the design concept was established in the direction of harmonious beauty with maximized functionality and aesthetics. Specifically, an efficient traffic line was planned in consideration of the connectivity between mutual spaces, and smooth yet strong formal aesthetics was given to such things as planes, frontal surfaces, and ceiling design, so as to do away with the existing authoritarian atmosphere and create an image of a futuristic company.

The aim of this project is to Improve the environment for Sanbon Oriental Medical Center, Wonkwang University. Since 1997 both Occidental Medical and Oriental Medical have occupied this building. Last year most of Occidental Medical except emergency and operating parts moved to the next new building. The serious problem was the fact that the building was designed as function for office not hospital. Especially, I tried to express the images of Won-buddism as well as Oriental Medical and the design targets are : 1. comfortable, creditable atmosphere, 2. traditional, scientific image, 3. ergonomic approach, 4. faith in Oriental Medical, 5. bright, smart space. This is also to create the optimum CEI(Commercial Environmental Identity) by the value pyramid.

Environmental problems caused by rapid industrialization and environmental issues have emerged worldwide. The Green Building Certification Policy has been introduced. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the environment-friendly planning factors in Environment-friendly Housing Certification. Six multi-family housing in Environment-friendly Housing Certification have been analyzed. The findings of this study are as follows. While outdoor planning factor is focused on building arrangement and ecological environment, its application in building material and environment plan is inadequate. In ecological environment, various green planting systems such as green zone and plant inhabitation area are utilized.

With one hour fire-resistant approval code, reflecting work ability and efficiency, steel-framed house market is expected to extend from one or two story house to multi-purpose facilities up to four story height. More models have been constructed in this system than the first appearance of fire-resistant approval in Korea in 1997 Also, cost estimation of components such as frame walls, roof trusses and floors is obtained with shop drawings. Also, the lack of suppliers of steel framed house shop drawing and unstandardized drawing method get constructors have difficulty in understanding its design. In steel framed house industry, shop drawings are essential part in building and constructing framework and they have major effects on construction deadlines and expenses. By exploring method of shop drawing automation, this study aims to optimize work flow with a standardized drawing method. The proposed system can be applied to manufacturing automation in domestic industry of factory-built panelizing method in the near future.

Partitions have been set of to put it in and to help diagnosis process to be done smoothly in the formational space. The whole atmosphere is intended to be harmony with the natural surroundings in Je-Ju. It will inspire people visiting this clinic to image the deep blue sea in Je-Ju. By using projective non-material a lot, especially material wooden windows and doors, it is believed to create the bright and stable atmosphere. It will lead patients feel comfortable.

Current city that we live in exist many modern architecture have historical meaning and high value. This modern architecture is disappearing because study - definite thesis of concept, division of the time - of preservation wasn't advanced fully and we have the feeling of being victimzed for Japanese imperialism, in addition to lack of recognition for cultural treasure value. These days, a growing number of people tend to focus on preservation and uses of cultural properties including mordern architectures. Therefore, this study aims to figure out constructive uses of mordern architectures by purposing analysis and preservation methods with a selected architectures which deserve to be conserved.

The lobby is the space that contributes the most to conveying the first impression of an enterprise or company that is occupying a building, and enhances the quality of the urban or business environment around an office building. Transparency is the biggest change in architecture since the modern age began, and it is the most important element of the lobby expression methods. Therefore this study was an attempt to understand the expression method of transparency which is expressed in the lobby space of office buildings, and used documentary survey and field survey to analyze it. In the examination of the theoretical background of transparency to make a specific study purpose, and based on an on-the-spot probe document, an attempt was made to grasp the expression method of Visual Transparency and Phenomenal Transparency. The data collected during this investigation was studied and a correlation coefficient. A summary of the findings of this study is as follows: 1) Transparent materials does not appear often in floors. But Phenomenal Transparency material is used in the floor. 2) During the survey it was discovered that Visual Transparency was often used in the walls of each investigated building. Phenomenal Transparency materials are found less in walls than in the floors of lobbies. 3) The expression methods that appeared the most in ceilings among the Visual Transparent expression methods. In the case of Phenomenal Transparency, the highest distribution is seen in ceilings. 4) The result of the analyzation of the correlation coefficient of Visual Transparency and Phenomenal Transparency is as follows: Expression method: There is more than one expression method of transparency, 'Open Sight', 'Light Material' and 'Surface Material' methods were introduced in case of the introduction of 'Transparent Material' among Visual Transparency in office building lobby space planning. If the 'Superimposed Space' method is introduced, then the 'Ambiguous Border' or 'Dual Sight' methods are introduced.

The purpose of this study is to provide basic guidelines for qualitatively advanced children's facilities and spaces in grand bookstores. The main concept is considered with a situation that grand bookstores of large corporations are increasing in quantity, but their social missions for the user are often being connived. The study is performed by research of current six domestic grand bookstores, two branches of each three large corporations, larger than 2,500py in Seoul, and the research is applied to Murtha's User Benefit Criteria as a basic format. As a result of the research, some problems to be improved are detected in ways of behavioral facilitation, physiological maintenance, perceptual maintenance, and social facilitation, therefore findings in survey turned out to be parents' dissatisfaction in many aspects. Finally, with this result, it is desirable for interior designers to reflect the indicated insufficient elements to their following children's bookstore space design for the user, children and their parents.

The various kinds of consumption belong to a general category and at the same time the expression of most basic aspiration in the human life. Since the ancient times, the consuming activities have lasted with the other basic activities and the consuming space conducting consumption has developed as physical devices along with the human history. Those companies that have been given attention and getting favorable impression currently being selected by the consumers are now concentrated on the storytelling marketing. The storytelling marketing is that the emotion-oriented marketing activities give consumers the opportunities to enjoy the product contained stories to put the stories to marketing activities. It approaches to consumer with human story emotionally rather than rationally and heart rather than mind. Recently, the architecture has become artistic either it was linked and contacted media or part of marketing. We think that the story telling marketing is the eternal triangle among art, architecture and marketing that is a propensity or movement to interior at this time. I found out that the storytelling marketing methodology is able to touch the consumer's heart and stimulate consumption aspiration that makes new circumstances and experience expressing space. And for that, effective marketing methodology is to give the consumers a more exciting and enjoyable motivation in accord with the modern society to give companies positive image to customers and accordingly for the companies to gain profits. The story telling space that is filled with ideas which produce new circumstance and experience using the established narrative and theme will be required continuously and able to develop in the future.

This study aims to inspect changes of physical expression in surfaces of both building interior and exterior in contemporary architecture. Nowadays society has transformed into more complicated framework with the development of the new media and digital technology in 21 century. Surface's expressivity has been changed with design trend and material development. Although surface study has been mainly concentrated on properties of materials and structure characters, new technology and cultural acceptance enables it extend itself to a new area with various design methods, taking its place as an important contemporary architectural element. Interior surface design is expressed with several unique methods such as optical illusion, surface exposure and spacial depth and volume, and it created dynamic space within the surface itself. In case of exterior surface, whole space seems to be designed to be coordinated with structured optical illusion as well as symbolic expression. Surface's area is extends itself with the stream of the times. This study explored the nature of surfaces with categorizing and comparing them in a various views and methods.

Today, brands are transforming into a strategic structure which emphasize brand image more so that the product itself, and the brand identify that factors in personal preference and taste assume important positions. In particular, space where brand identify is factored in is increasingly in importance these days, which means that it is no longer about selling products themselves, but selling brand image. Accordingly, it is necessary to approach in a strategic manner when it comes to the space that factor in brand value in terms of selling brand image. Accordingly, this research examines the relationship between brand identity and space components through the space in coffee shops where brand identity is applied, to identify how indoor expression trend is utilized.

Modern architecture after enlightenment period of Korea has been defamed indifferently before preparing devices for preservation. Many modern architecture has been underestimated by the feeling of being cultural victimized for Japan and economic logic. Other advanced countries make laws for their historic heritage with a concept for past-present-future. Also they re-create their cultural heritage to help their local economic. As the Registration System is established at july 2001, we have to find organic, positive interior space utilization methods about modern architecture. Modern architecture is private property in real using but it has historic trace. Therefore, modern architecture can be affirmative social property because it is a base of historic, cultural circumstances for local identity. The purpose of this study is to construct preservation and utilization methods of interior space for modern architecture.

China which has 960km of domain area is one of the biggest countries in the world. Also China has a large population of 1,300,000,000 which are 25% of total world population and consist of 56 ethnic groups. In addition, History of China is immemorial and Confucianism of feudalistic and Taoism idea have effect on Chinese for a long time and architecture is influenced by them. Thus a large degree of variety, abundance, and uniqueness can be found in Chinese traditional dwelling. This research will be focusing on Sanapwon, a traditional housing in Beijing, which represents China's original and distinctive dwelling features. By looking at Sanapwon, we can learn the distinguishable characteristics of Chinese residential area and understand the concept of space. By looking closely at the worldly outlook, historical view, originality, and the spatial notion centered around human beings, many types of Sanapwon and its formation process have been examined Likewise indoor plane construction, and basic element of composition of space will help to study the whole of residing space.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the trend of Korean domestic multi-family housing. For that, this study surveyed 139 apartment complex cases which were sold from December 2002 to December 2005. When Hwasung Dongtan apartment complex was sold in 2004, there were a lot of attempts in various quarters, especially in unit planning and eco-friendly design. Accordingly, it is worthy that analyzing the trend before and after of 2004. As a result, the trend has been moving from 'convenient and high class' to 'LOHAS, one-stop living, convergency, and residents' satisfaction' because leasure and well-living have been the purpose of their living. Therefore, we can predict that B.I. and design identity would be more important, and various contents would be created for residents' community and private life.

With the sustainable development theory introduced, some planning factors, such as how to minimize bad effects on the environment and how to be more environmentally friendly, have been Integrated in planning the residential development. In addition, a new residential space concept, the ubiquitous home, arouse the interest of architects and residents. Although there have been many efforts to achieve the environment-friendly and convenient residence, the problem is that the environment-friendly architecture's many of the efforts have been primarily focused on the outside of the apartment units. Thus, the purpose of this study is to show possibilities of housing model not only being applied the environment-friendly construction concept to the inside of the apartment units, but also being integrated the ubiquitous home model inside.

Multiplex have many screen in one place and provide customer Multiple Entertainment Option. Today multiplex cinema is a new culture place for the public to approach most easily in Korea. It also gave a chance to recognize how important a popular culture place is. but it has a problem that this space wasn't designed for customer and don't have even a rest area for them as they focused only on economic growth. therefore, in this study, it point's the utilization of Service Areas problems and provide basic data of interior design for customer.

This study beings from solving problems of permanent rental housing with environmentally-friendly planning factors to raise quality of life. Environmentally-friendly planning factors of permanent rental housing are derived from the study of references and green building certification systems of other countries. Surveys of inhabitants and experts give weights on these factors. Inhabitants do are focussed natural ventilation, life cycle cost, operation and maintenance cost. This reflects their interest in indoor amenity and a burden on the cost. Experts put more weights on pedestrian spaces considering the old and feeble persons and block planning. Besides, T-test pointed out that there are meaningful differences in land use between inhabitants and experts. Though inhabitants' opinion has priority because they are real user, experts' opinion which has the variety and the view in the long term should be reflected.

Korean Apartment Housing, which has been built up for short-time, represents as popular housing reflecting our unique cultural background, and recently the utility room in apartment housing has been changed to accept residents' needs, focusing on their improving life styles. At this point, the purpose of this study Is to analyze the characteristics of the utility room between 1995 and 2005 in order to grasp the current change of the utility space in Korean Apartment Housing. For this, this research investigated 176 samples, collected in 'Apartment Encyclopedia(2004)'. The major results of this study are as follows : 1) As the utility room gets bigger, the size and the ratio to the whole unit area are increased, however the ratio in small area is bigger than the ratio in other area. 2) According to time, the utility room tends to increase the size and the ratio to the whole unit area, and the Increasing tendency appears distinctively after 2002. 3) The utility room used to be located with rear balcony area, however, now it appears to be planned Independently with its unique function. 4) Currently, Second-Kitchen start to plan in the apartment housing.

An increase in the proportion of Korean population in older age is much faster than the rest of the world. Along with rise of nuclear family due to rapid industrialization, informatization and materialization, ageing, on current situation in Korea that a reality of being diminished consciousness involving the sense of filial piety, and of respect or honor for the elders, does mean that such topics in ageing have become sociocultural issues that a nation should get more deeply involved in caring later life of the elderly population in an official and obligatory manner. Under this circumstance, an exhibition space in the hall intended for experiencing the later life of the elderly will surely play the role of locomotive in the respect of education to understand aging adults, and to promote development of health and welfare industry, especially for older population, also in creating and developing a positive and desirable culture and environment. To implement design project concerned with the space for the elderly population in a more careful and effective manner, the features of the Old Age Experience Hall that will satisfy the requirements thereof and the space compositions as well as characteristics of three exhibition halls having already been operated were analyzed examining closely the current facing issues in this aging society and also investigating the aging process related to physical functions of older adults. Based on those analyses, this study was aimed to prepare an efficient and systematic theoretical foundation for planning space composition of the Old Age Experience Hall further having extracted basic directions for design from, which should be meticulously considered and reflected so as to make the Old Age Experience Hall function properly.

Since the middle of 1990's, domestic apartment building suppliers have set up brand images to overcome the difficulties in financial situation after IMF foreign exchange crisis. The main trends in recent apartment buildings could be classified generally into several types, such as 'Ubiquitous Intelligent(standing for High-tech)', 'Walkable Community(community-friendly)', 'Eco-friendly', 'Ergonomic Humanity(Human Engineering)', 'e-easy Home through Internet(Digital Home)'. With those brand images, construction enterprises have been making inroads into local apartment markets, especially one of the region around Dae-gu. It is meaningful and worth researching and analyzing the local residents' preferences and tendencies to form marketing strategies of brand images. Here, this research and analysis is of pre-examination before getting down the study of this subject.

In general, performing facilities consist of various functional groupings. The functional groupings should be arranged, in relation to each other, depending on the circulation of users in a space. The performing culture in Korea has been rapidly progressed in recent years. However, compared to the superior examples of foreign performing facilities, it still needs improvements and systematic research. In this study, the functional groupings of general performing facilities as well as the circulation patterns of users will be analyzed. From the results of this study, a circulation system for each spatial composition will be suggested for the performing facilities to be constructed in the future.

The development of digital technology makes our life more convenient in our lives and its calmness promotes the qualify of our life. Digital-home-automation system lets indoor-living more free, safe and clear so that it really has come true our life style that considers our mind and healthy to be important. Moreover, LED light source that combines the semiconductor with the digital technology has been tried as a current indoor illumination. Also the introduction of the light which has a high technology, like LED light, has been required in living space. It shows that it is very important to have an illuminated- plan which is accepted as well-developed technology. This study deals with the investigation into the user satisfaction of the existing residential area illumination and the investigation into the user satisfaction of the LED illumination being supplied for commercial area now. In the result, the fact is investigated that the user wants the introduction of the digital technology In the illumination because of a backward the residental area illumination in the circumstances being digital gradually. The inconvenience of the illumination used now should be minimized and the development of the LED illumination is a way satisfying the desire. The intended illumination project of the residential area should be accomplished according to the lifestyle of a changing residence.

The storage style has changed because of diversity of family types, improvement of cost of living, and increase of leisure time. In spite of this change, storage space has still caused discomfort since it did not consider residents' convenience. Therefore, in this study, Brand Apartments were selected, furniture detail drawing was analyzed by plan of housing size and zone to calculate storage area and capacity, and finally needs of storage space were analyzed using survey. Satisfaction of storage space was generally low and $20{\sim}30%$ increase of storage space was demanded. The reasons why the storage space was not satisfied are followed. First, storage space was insufficient. Second, the inner structure of storage space was unified. According to change of life style, needs have changed. To satisfy these needs, the inner division of storage space is planned with considering various items. In addition, development of hardware, flexible division, and priority of storage space with considering user's convenience are needed.

Following to current interior design that becoming more varied and composite, minimal tendency has also been changed. Furthermore, according to the lapse of time, minimalism, a space design, has been developed in a new look among such complex trends. Therefore, in this study, changes of tendency into a style of minimalism and characteristics thereof shown in interior design amid current of times were carefully reviewed, and local and foreign artists together with their works were investigated and analyzed having focused on the inclination of minimalism displayed in interiors of commercial spaces, especially before or after 2000s by dividing them into distinctive features in connection with space, material and type. It is thought that the interior space under the concept of minimalism will be changed and developed further in a variety of shapes to suit the environments in the current era getting rid of simple physical characteristics.

Space design is a process of solving spatial problems to create and construct all kinds of human lives. It also bestows new values to a medium to induce human perception based on the relationships between 'human and space' surrounding people. Research on user behavior has several ultimate goals including understanding both individual behavior and the relations between the user and space from a more scientific and systematic perspective, predicting various phenomena that can happen between space and humans, and reflecting the results in space design. As user behavior that's once limited within given space is going through some changes due to the introduction of digital technologies, research on user behavior in today's space design should be newly illuminated in the aspects of organic relations. Space now works as a receptor communicating with the user and responding to user behavior, and user behavior once under one-sided influences from space becomes more diverse and active. The influences of user behavior, in turn, cause changes to space itself. Thus this study set out to suggest new directions in research on user behavior based on interactions between space and the user in space design.

The concept of non-linearity, which has been derived from a scientific paradigm, has generated new discourse in formative arts. The non-linearity enables various new possibilities such as, generation of diverse and dynamic space, creation of non-geometric form and space, and the shape in the space as it is in nature. This study percepts and explains the concepts of non-linearity and their principles in space modeling in the field of interior design, in terms of the philosophy of fractal geometry. We also analyze cases, which shows trends and specific embodiments of non-linear space modeling. This study will provide perspectives on the non-linearity as a new methods in the space modeling. For the study, we review the concept and characteristics of non-linearity, by examining various literatures, and developed an analyzing tool which was used to study various cases of Western and Korean interior Design.

Along with the development of industrious society, the shape of city and the way of life have changed in accordance. The development of the city deepened gravitation of the city population, leading to the lack of housing and land, and apartment complexes became an alternative way of securing a number of families into a small space of land. Apartment can have a lot of families reside In a small space of land, and it can also be satisfactory to individual's privacy and anti-crime measures. On the other hand, there are negative problems with it. Among them, contacts with neighboring people showed that they only greeted each other when they met in the walkway. As shown in this, one of the reasons that there is a lack of friend ship activities is because there is short of space for common use. And in comparison to those of stairway walkway, apartments with one-passage walk way showed a higher level of contacts with neighbors. It is assumed that apartments with one-passage walk way have more chances to meet neighbors than do those of stairway walkway. This study analyzed the phases appearing in neighbor relations through investigation of the literature, and presented a coping measure. One solution is to prepare flower beds from the outside of walkway by enlarging the width of the walkway in apartments with one-passage walk way, and providing benches in front of flower beds so that residents can take a rest there. The more often residential people take a rest there, the more frequently they can meet each other. Accordingly this can solve problems of contacts with neighbors and the dreary scene of walkway can become a wider view in a nature friendly environment, bringing them to an active acquaintance activities.

According to increase of personal incomes, spread of automobiles, a five-day only work week and expansion of cultural life, modern people today are increasingly showing leisure time interests. Under such social circumstances in which people's spare time are gradually increasing, weekend trips accompanied with hotel staying are increasing to a greater extent rather than one-day trips. In Korea where differences between regions and four seasons are remarkable, the resort industry has developed in harmony with seasonal environments and regional characteristics. In particular, an increasing number of modern people living in the wellbeing era tends to visit spa resort hotels for recreation and health. This study intends to compare realities of local and foreign spa resort hotels and investigate space characteristics of local spa resort hotels for promotion of use. In this study, it has been found that the proposed addition of characteristic-oriented spaces to the existing recreation, service and basic facilities beside the fundamental accommodations would be able to remarkably elevate use of the hotels.

As more people want plastic surgery for various reasons, the demand for pleasant and aesthetical environment has increased also. This study, therefore, conducted literature and portal sites research before surveying women in their 20's and 30's who are more likely to be interested in and have plastic surgery. And we worked out a questionnaire to predict the customer demand and a survey board using specific vocabulary conveying emotional information as well as designs, targeting 120 people in Gangnam and Myeongdong areas. As a result, the respondents preferred natural designs, followed by modern and casual one with slight differences based on the areas. Thus, this is open to further studies. The preference for natural designs is considered to be related with the current interests in well-being and nature-friendly trend, coupled with new naturalism in the 21C. Hence, in order to add more colorfulness, minimalism, and vitality to the existing natural environment, one needs to seek motives from nature but make use of high-tech materials with strong colors to avoid boredom but create a lively indoor environment.

Recently, In Korea, diverse elderly facilities have increased by geometric progression cope with rapidly aging society. But, there haven't been enough systematic understanding about elderly housing. To approach the concept of elderly housing, the clear theory of its definition and types should be established. Thus, the purpose of this study is to set up the concept of elderly housing and clear definition, and to recreate criteria fit our situation. This study was proceeded by contents analysis of elderly housing environment in prior research. First, we understand the use of terms about elderly housing in references and redefine. Then, analyze the cases of categorizations in developed countries. Finally, the research point out current problems and make criteria in housing environmental aspects. This study leads new perspective to consist synthetic services according to special conditions of elderly, far from the economical point of view. It will contribute to understand elderly housing designing aging friendly environment.

The purpose of this study is to propose the standards for dimension system for unit space of the classroom in elementary school. The curriculum of elementary school has changed. It has been reflected the architectural plan of classroom of the nationwide elementary school. However the Ministry of Education repealed the statue about the facilities of the schools on September in 1997 and the new education curriculum -the 7th curriculum- demands various activities in the classroom. So we need to another size of unit space of the classroom in elementary school because the size of unit space will affect the quality of education. This study represents that the size of unit plan is based on the size of human body, education curriculum, established day, the number limit of classroom and teaching tools. In this study, regression analysis is used to find out a part of the body-size of Korean.

The concept of surface has become more relative and more relationship-oriented based upon interaction between spaces as the traditional realm of perception succumbed to that of a more flexible, open perspective. If surface characteristics are consideredas an interface, an interface with individual characteristics will form part of the whole and will become an element in the whole (the environment), manifesting itself as a medium incorporated in an architectural space. This authorintends to understand interface not as a mere intermediary space but as an intervening border that allows exchanges between different environments and as a medium that allows expressions of aesthetic order through organic order. Also, it is the Intention of this author to grasp extended meanings of interface.

This thesis is a study on the exactitude of Simulation Tool by using illuminate formula. Lightscape looks like general 3d program, but is a lighting simulation program that set up the properties of materials and light-sources about the model. This thesis calculates illuminance by a formula and simulates a light simulation using Lightscape for two luminaires data in space of ideal environment. As then each value was compared. As a result we got an error under 1% on the whole.

Korean society is changing into aged society with the speed which has never happened by other countries before. This has been the consequence of low birthrate and Increase in life expectancy. However, such social problem result in many studies on elderly environment. The purpose of this study is to systematically analyze empirical studies on elderly environment in Korea, find out research streaming and understand social backgrounds. For this study, content analysis was conducted. Articles of 4 registered academic institute published from 1986 to 2005 were units of analysis. Using keyword through library database systems, the articles were systematically selected. As results, trends of research according to 4 periods were identified. Among them as major trends, expansion of the quantity, expansion to Intoner design, more facilities for dependent elderly appeared. This result showed implications on interior design education and research for aging friendly design.

The trend of well-being image in this 21st century has been developed by issuing 'Health and Long life' integrating the quality. We are characterize the colors of the nature with emotional feelings of Korean people with respect to Korea four seasons and adapt it into choosing subtle colors in interior design for the good space of well-being image.

Decrease of children caused by economic growth, scientific and technological advancement, long life, spread of nuclear families, increase of women's entry in public affairs, etc. in modern society has given rise to aging societies as another social problem. This has resulted in the advent of problems of the aged and necessity of geriatric hospitals specializing in providing medical services for the old. Even though the geriatric hospitals currently operated are mainly used by aged persons, however, their color environment has been decided, for the most pin, not in view of characteristics of the old but in view of supporting families' criteria for selection of facilities. This study intends to help geriatric hospital designers recognize importance of color environment considering characteristics of the old and select the relevant colors In designing geriatric hospitals in future to elevate remedial value and prevent accidents in space use. To this end, this study suggests problems of color environment found in surveys of the existing geriatric hospitals currently operated throughout the nation and further make some proposals for improvement.

The purpose of this study is to assess the characteristics of self-reported symptoms of workers in office building with HVAC system, and also to provide better workplaces in terms of comfort and health. The methods employed in this study include literature review, field observations, and survey. The self-reported symptoms of workers such as headache, fatigue, itching and dryness regarded as SBS symptoms commonly occur after around 3:00 pm and are relieved after leaving their office buildings. according to results in previous studies, above are possibly related to CO2 concentrations. It is also found work environment factors and the satisfaction on indoor environment are all associated with worker's health. Hopefully, this overview of current work environments concerning the level of satisfaction and health problems of workers would help create healthier indoor environment.

The purpose of this study is to examine the advertisements of eco-friendly interior products and finishing materials in 3 interior design magazines which have been published for 4 years since 2002: to identify specific types of the products and materials that consumers can choose and to analyze their special ingredients which have functions and effectiveness related to health. Literature review and content analysis on the advertisements were employed. The results are as follows: The amount of advertisements has been continuously increasing due to the public concerns on well-being and finishing material types absolutely took the greatest proportion (92.8%) among them. Floor coverings, wall papers, and paints are the big 3 materials in the finishing material advertisements. The frequently mentioned health-related ingredients in them were charcoal, natural jade, nanosilver, yellow soil and quartz porphyry, And their main functions were emission of negative ions and ultra infrared. However, it's not easy to find their scientific test results on health. Objective guidelines are needed for the right selection of interior products and materials to maintain healthy interior environment.

The purpose of this study was to identify the influence of living factors on TVOC(Total Volatile Organic Compounds) concentrations for newly-built apartments. The field measurements of TVOC concentrations were made totally 30 times(5 times per one subject house) in six apartment units in which residents recently moved. Those apartments authorized its business approval before May 2004, the Act of Indoor Air auality Management for multi-use facilities. The findings were as follows: The TVOC concentrations of the measured subject apartments ranged from about 1/10 of the recommended standard for multi-use facilities($400{\mu}g/m^3$) to up to 90 times as high as the standard. Since then, the Recommended Standard of Indoor Air Quality Management for newly-built apartment house was announced in December 2005. In accordance with this standard($2390{\mu}g/m^3$) it ranged from about 1/100 to up to 15 times as high as the standard. The subject house whose TVOC concentrations reduced below the recommendation standard in the shortest period had the largest amount of ventilation (all the windows were open for ventilation in the past three months) among ail measured houses. The reason of another house whose TVOC concentrations were much higher than the rest was fronted with new furniture in the room. It's recommended that they should open all the windows for at least three months for ventilation in newly-built houses, and it would be better to avoid remodeling than needs be.

The purpose of this study is to draw out the features of expressions about Nature in Korean interior design, because the Nature has been being very important theme in the interior space. So, the 68 cases of domestic famous interior designers' works during last ten years were selected from authorized design magazines like as INTERIORS, MARU and so on. And next, the cases were analysed in according to interior image style, design elements used for effect of Nature and the direction of expression(directly or indirectly), As the results, composite expressions with a few elements were found in modern, hi-tech, elegant, minimal and casual styles, while direct expressions with many elements were found in natural and ethnic styles. And main elements for effect of Nature were trees and stones. Among many elements, water and stones became more important elements after 2000 than before. In the meantime the use of composite expressions was being increased and so appeared even in natural and ethnic styles.

For the company, the office space is the expensive resource next to human resource. Employees are under the influence of physical characters of the office space. Among them lighting is the most effective factor in physical, biological and psychological for employees. Although there are lots of investments in architectural aspect of the office space, there is almost no investment and consideration about the lighting environment. Therefore this study was trying to find out these things as follow. First, evaluate lighting environment of people who works in the office spaces. Second, find out which factors are more affective in evaluation of lighting environment. And then with these findings this study found what should be considered as important in lighting planning of the office space. As the result of this study, however the majority of the employees are satisfied with current lighting conditions, they are not satisfied with individual operation of lighting. And in office space work type and position changes by age can affect in a large degree more than other factors. Therefore when planning lighting of the office space, it is necessary to figure out work features of Individual and group exactly and accept the difference by positions appropriately.
