School architecture has been functionally changed a lot as well as the changes of school education. School tries to educate people to recognize their dignity and give life to their personality. In addition, it's also important for school facilities to contribute to making social communities as community establishments beyond its own purpose of education. Researches for school architecture have been going on to make facilities suited for that. At this point of view, this research is looking for methodology contributed to design institutions suitable for education through working on precedents for planning school design. One way to this is studying the method of designing of the design team, 'Coelacanth', selected for good architecture in Japanese school architecture so many times and finding out its connection to interior.

The purpose is to analyze space through phenomenological features of museum space with the background of studying patterns and characteristics appearing in modern museum space based on Perceptional Phenomenology by Merleau Phonty, and then giving meanings to our daily-life space and offering new museum space. This research studies about recognizing phenomenological cognitive experiences not as conception fixed in modern museum, analyzes phenomenological particularities based on Phenomenological conception by Merleau Phonty, and studies on the features appearing in museum space by phenomenological language focusing on museums since 1990's.

By changing housing market, housing cultural center furnishes information, value added, image of housing. For publicity their unique house, construction companies provide not only concrete and substantial material but also sensible and capacity service through the community space of housing cultural center. The consumer's experience of housing cultural center have an effect on purchase power apartment. The image of enterprise is important to select commodities to consumers. Though main clients are women, housing cultural center has not space concept and aim to concern for them. According to begin women a group of consumers, they have purchasing power in family. Apartment is no exception. Housing cultural center is used as continuous culture space that provide various experiential chance for consumer, especially women by systematize and distinct design detail and feature component. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is an analysis about community space of housing cultural center with the woman marketing based on experience.

Recently, many performing arts facilities are under construction to accommodate people's various interest in cultural experiences. However, due to Korea's lack of know-how in such constructions and an absence of proper regulations on design planning, each designer designs and constructs the facilities differently, so several problems are occurring in the process of construction, such as high production cost for stage sets, high labor cost, low efficiency of stage work, and complicated work process. This resulted in low quality production of performance. This study is conducted to address the need for a systematic study on stage floor, and to propose an efficient way of regulating stage work in existing performing arts facilitiesand new facilities to be built. By a comparative analysis of performing arts facilities in Korea, and by analyzing stage floors of the facilities, this research suggests minimum modules as well as an appropriate unit of modules based on the minimum modules; and provides basic data on stage floors, which can be used for remodeling existing facilities orfor planning new cultural facilities. Also, this study suggests various ways of utilizing performing arts facilities in Korea.

In recent years, the cultural industry is considered to a major industry in the 21 century, and performing culture is growing rapidly in Korea. Also, rapid development in terms of quality and quantity can be found in the diversification of usage, a trend focusing on the space for performance, and an emphasis on the accessibility between the stage and auditorium. In addition, active research is being conducted on the performing arts facilities, a relationship between the stage and auditorium, and a space programfor each space considering users. However, most of the current studies are conducted byviewing the facilities in a two-dimensional space. Similar to other cultural facilities, such as museums and galleries, performing arts facilities have been planned in the thinking that the ratio of capacity increases in proportion to the area. Considering a dimensional capacity in the spatial composition of performing arts facilities is important, but it has been ignored until now. Therefore, in order to analyze performing arts facilities in the three dimensional approach, this study is conducted centering on the actual capacity and provides basic data that can be used for planning a construction of future performing arts facilities.

The advent of new media resulted in the revolutionary change of human way of life, which have big influence on the society and new culture other than that of the past appeared. This study aims preparing indicators of digital display space which meets with paradigm of the new age by studying characteristics of expression of new media in digital display space. his study searched for their meaning and possibilities by analyzing their characteristics of expression through cases of digital display space at homeand overseas since 1990s with key words of characteristics of expression of new media. Characteristics of expression in modern digital display space are characterized by immateriality, interrelated actions, nature of non-rectilineal figure, space is immaterial and abstract by new media, and new aesthetics completed by expression of images. Accordingly, we expect that this study will be the medium of development of digital display space which is developed more and communicated mutually by rapidly understanding changes of digital display space in the future.

Children's museum has roles of the characterized place for children as well as the museum for education. Therefore, specific color selection especially for children is one of the most important points to be considered. This study is the short investigation on various interior color systems of children's museums in Korea. In case of Children's Museum in National Museum of Korea, each exhibition area is apparently divided by adopting colors in accord with the subject of each space. Middle color in that museum generally gives stability, and clear color and accent color give better perception and vitality Children's folk Museum has adopted Korean traditional colors, O-Bang Colors, which have indicated Korean tradition for ages. All sections in Incheon Children's Museum are spatially divided, but similar colors of ceiling, wall, and floor give boring atmosphere. Since original colors of furniture in Science section distract attraction of children, proper color selection should be required for better reaction from children. Therefore, this research is aiming for detailed investigation in color system of children's museum and the proper interior color planning of the next children's museums with their main purpose for children in the future.

The part of women was limited in a large family of the past and the benefit of a family was more valuable than the advantage of an individual. But social activity of the individual who is a member of the family is increased by the industrialization and rapid changes of society. As a result importance of the family is on the decrease in a society. All such phenomenons make new family types that we could not imagine at past and various life-style. This research proposes life-style of the near future and investigated by life-style stream process according to change members of the family with various documentary record. In conclusion, life-style of the near future is changed individualistic, rationalistic and material.

A tendency of active exchanges of newly-generated culture and mind following with the world globalization has been leading totally new concept of social level, its life style and spending habit. According to these social movements, people's way of thinking has been shifted from we-centered to I-centered, which generate (cause) individualism. The tendency of putting much weight on individuality prevailed in the society grows the social awareness on individual's needs and tastes and ultimately lead overall movement of longing for single life style. The rate for singles also has been dramatically increased these days, and expects reach 30 percents of overall popularity in 2010. Therefore, various new concepts of residences for singles have been introduced recently, such as an office apartment, condominium and serviced residents, which combines concepts of both a hotel and an apartment. In this thesis, six examples of newly-styled residence for singles would be researched in every aspect, such as its service, facilities and so on. Although the fact of that overall service quality of new type residence now is well constructed and performed is derived from this research, I expect to contribute more various and advanced service quality into new social movement and new type of residences for single life, and finally provide satisfactory life style for singles.

The shortage of storage space in the apartment housing has been chronic problem in the Korean housing history. So far many studies on the storage space focused on the enlargement of indoor storage space but these studies could not be a complete solution. To solve problem, this study analyzed the case which installed exterior storage space and the regulations. The followings are several findings. The exterior storage space should be a essential element in the apartment planning and should be included as a community facility. The standards on the size, safety, facility, and management of storage space should be enacted.

Recently designed residence complexes, there is an increasing interest in qualitative and quantitative improvement of not only the primary function of the residence, but also the community facilities designed for the convenience and welfare of its residents. Among such community facilities, an apartment's playground for children still remains in a traditional form and lacks the versatility required to satisfy the needs and interests of modern children, especially an age diverse child population. Therefore, this study intends to analyze the status of children's play facilities as community spaces, analyze the community's satisfaction with them, and suggest alternatives to the limited functions of children's play facilities in order to improve opportunities for neighbors to meet and build a stronger community.

Recently, Townhouse has emerged as a blue ocean of real estate market in Korea. In designing town houses, which are luxurious suburban houses centered around the capital area, the construction companies are using 'designer marketing' in which they hire interior designers and architects and express various styles of design in the interior space of the town houses. Therefore, this study examined the unit-family cases of Korean townhouses and analyzed the expression characteristics of design in the interior space of the town houses built after 2000 in terms of their spatial, morphological, material, and color aspect. "The extensibility of space" and "variableness of space" seem to have the same meaning, but they turned out to be not related to each other due to the particularity of houses. "The extensibility of space" turned out to show its characteristics via "the use of transparent materials." "Minimal form" utilizes the unified "achromatic and simple colors" to emphasize the simplicity and in some cases, highlights the use of original colors. The interior space of the townhouses expresses the traditional or heterosexual oriental image through "the use of natural materials," and they point out the "oriental form" through the controlled beauty expressed by using oriental components and "achromatic and simple colors."

The demand for residential space is encompassing diverse ranges to keep pace with the times. Due to the Increase in wealth, people today want more functional and physical well being as well as giving more weight to the emotional aspect in spatial planning. This study paid special attention on the psychological effect of color--especially difference of warm/cold temperature--and the individual variation on favorable colors. 1. For a communal space (e.g. living rooms), subjects showed high preference of YR range of colors and warm colors. 2. For an individual space (e.g. bedrooms), subjects showed high preference of GY range of colors and neutral colors. 3. For a sanitary space (e.g. bathrooms), subjects showed high preference of PB and B ranges of colors, and cold colors. 4. For all of the above spaces, subjects showed high preference of warm colors.

Just like a movie, a space can also express time, personality of characters and background stories. Symbolization of a space tells philosophy and emotions, making meaning of the space abundant and consistency in entire composition of the space. Media art has been differentiated and evolved depending on the development of digital technology and the growing of pop culture. Finally experiential ways, which make much of communication with human beings, bring themselves into relief in media art, and these various ways broke lines between virtual reality and reality with the elevation of digital technology, and that has a direct effect on expressing actual space. For this reason, diversified expressions of media art can be an important guideline for studying how to express modern space. This research analyzes expressing features in media art establishing a link with modern industrial interior space and offers new future-oriented space.

As coffee's taste and scent are emphasized, and interior atmosphere has changed along with sale of brand's own products, there are also epochal trend changes in interior. So, changes within the space should be focused onto open type self coffee shop, a new cultural space distinguishable from existing coffee shops. Therefore, in this study, the following results could be obtained by performing customer-centered, spatial structural characteristics research on 5 take-out coffee shops opened after 2005 that are practicing self service in Busan and Gyeongsangnam-do regions. In this study, it was shown in the above results that location of the entrance, kitchen, and condiment bar, area per person, size and positioning of furniture, area of windows and doors, etc have strong influences for self service which customers themselves carry their food. Therefore, in planning the interior of self coffee ship in the future, presentation of more effective and practical space based on this analysis will be required.

Underground passage shopping center which is one of the underground space is a public facility. Therefore, underground passage shopping center needs physical environment that everyone (such as ordinary adults, seniors, disabled and ETC) could use it without any difficulties. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the application of universal design into main entrance space of underground passage shopping center. The scope of this research was adjusted as 8 underground passage shopping centers that are located in Seoul. Spacial scope of the research was set as public space such as main entrance space, slope way, stairway of underground passage shopping center and the content of scope of this research was the application of universal design. The conclusion of this research is as following. First, public space of underground passage shopping center needs physical environmental improvement for the convenient usage for seniors and disabled. Second, the application of universal design is needed for public space for shelter and rescue of underground passage shopping center. Third, Underground passage shopping center needs a plan to minimize the safety infringement of user by commercial activity of stores in it.

The idea of shopping is changed from a purchase of merchandise to an experience of pleasure. This study is a space composition analysis for the introduction of theme in multi-plex shopping center design to reflect variable consumer trend and company marketing strategy. The study progressed through theoretical consideration and substance analysis about the shopping centers which had been designed by Jerd Partnership from 2000 in Japan. The following is result. The path is a sole main street that is made of curve form, parallel and vertical circulating rout and movement of human being. It leads continuity. The node and landmarks have a circular court with typifier as powerful center, character of transition space and event for experience. It makes locational quality. The districts are composed of retail shops, restaurants and culture facilities and the edge is represented by closed vertical wall and parapet. It induces a domain. The characteristic of Jerde shopping center is an experience of theme environment through the path as betweenness space with a story based on a main theme.

The rise of the machine culture in the last 20th century has rapidly changed the world into a high-tech civilized society but at the same time, it also caused environmental estrangements such as damage in the environment and the loss of humanity in the human society due to materialism. As a reaction to the absence of humanity in such environment, in these modern days design which acts as the product of public art, escaped from the previous physical functional satisfaction and stood out as the culture industry that satisfies human's sensibility. This study is focusing on the method of how such sensitive designs are expressed in the interior space of retail shops and such methods are researched through the image evaluation test conducted to the 10 brands of overseas' jewelery shops. The purpose of this study is to analyze the meaning and effects of designs that took consideration of sensibility in a retail shop and to establish efficient marketing strategy using sensitive design and to utilize it into the interior space.

It occupies roughly the same position in the japanese pantheon of aesthetic values as do the Greek ideals of beauty and perfection in the West. All things air impermanent. All things are imperfect. all things are incomplete. it offers an aesthetic ideal that uses the uncompromising touch of mortality to focus the mind on the exquisite transient beauty to be found in aoo things impermanent. Wabi-Sabi is a beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. It is a beauty of things unconventional. Wabi-Sabi is the art of everyday life. These may be the methods for the relationship establishment between human and space on the ground of Wabi-Sabl concepts which is commonly found no in contemporary interior space in japan.

Modem society has been complicated and diverse, and then various paradigms coexist. We can see Postmodernism moving in the flows of modern architecture. Therefore looming large is the Fold architecture that can surmount the limit of design in Postmodernism and Deconstruction and suits to the modern culture as an architectural alternative. So I believe this research can make us perceive the streams of modern interior space by considering the features and meanings of Fold conception which has been noticeable in the overall architecture and culture since the middle of 1990's with analyzing and defining atypical organic Fold characteristics appearing in modern interior since 2000, and also predict the next changing direction.

Women's Hall is a local facility that supports women's activities in the community and has the purpose in establishing self-support for low-income women and women's participation in society. Its functions are largely separated into social welfare, education, culture, and community services. The purpose of this study is to highlight and discuss the characteristics of space for community functions among other functions of Women's Hall. It has investigated and analyzed ten cases in total of all the women's halls that have opened since 1995. The examples selected for study have been analyzed in terms of the functions of each community space, layout of the rooms, finishing materials, and colors. The result of the study indicates that social demand for women's halls is changing. However, the characteristics of the space or the environment are incapable of accommodating the change. In order for the women's halls that will open in the future to perform acceptable community functions, they need to determine the degree of satisfaction and preference of the users and come up with a specific proposal for improvement.

Modern society changes so fast that it makes the borderlines obscure among all the elements in physical environments as well as culture and economy through rapid flows of Network or new media. Also these flows of changes appears and collides everywhere at the same time, which continuously generates heterogeneous environmental factors. For this reason, architecture is required to correspond with circumstances of the day, but it doesn't keep up with the speed of social changes actually because it features physically fixed construction. This research offers new direction and possibilities of architecture space elements using pluralistic and do-centering attributes of hypertext as a counterplan, and finds out how architecture space should correspond with the moving environment of modern society.

Environmental marketing is the marketing that minimizes the reverse function so as to obtain the satisfactory result, and it is still in the stage of fundamental investigation. stage. As the concept and type of environmental marketing have not been established yet for interior design, environmental marketing currently applied to indoor space is classified Into three types in this study. Through the four types of environmental marketing, which are the introduction of natural elements to indoor space, the use of eco-friendly materials and the use of sustainable materials, renovation it is intend to derive the environmental marketing strategy and present the sequence of strategy establishment and desirable direction in environmental marketing.

The people shares the street with various activities. The colour-blind also shares this public space of the city. But, the colour-blind is difficult to feel and act as the normal people, because of their limited visual ability. The purpose of this research is to suggest the color matching codes of the city for the colour-blind adopting the NCS color system. This research analyzes the result of the simulation with color programs. This paper discusses ways of improving city color planning towards the public environment for all people, especially the colour-blind.

In the twentieth century, due to extraordinary development of companies and life style, etc, market environments to which companies around the world currently face are being changed with reflecting the current age in various fields, which result from globalization, digitalized innovation, diversity by information acceptance, an enhanced level of a consumer's consciousness, developed mass media, etc. The companies are trying to expand their sale areas, not only products but also their cultures, images, and brand power in the name of a 'marketing' in a space In other words, if companies and brands express some identities without considering an entire image evaluated by customers, a mis-positioning for the companies and the brands may be caused. In this case, the companies and brands may not influence on potential major customers at all, of an image for the companies and brands may be degrade Accordingly, a space marketing is required as a distinguished strategic means in characterizing identities according to brands. Also, a design for communicating the space marketing with the customers is required. Therefore, the purpose and effects of the present research are to analyze how identity characteristics for brands and company images are reflected by analyzing a faadeof a hall for housing cultures, and are to analyze how they are recognized by customer.

In this modern life, the study of emotional and sensuous experience and metaphoric process can not be overlooked and should be researched more thoroughly to complete the theory of the new space design.

Sustainable interior design elements are related with human health. We know that a demand for environmental-friendly housing and all about the others demanding are for human health. We have to make up basement of natural environment for sustainable space composition. If natural environment is polluted that surrounded by human, we have to effort to revive without any pollution. We have to get accomplished stability, comfortable, security, convenience and organize interior design elements for sustainable space to enhance for the quality of life. Furthermore, it needs to get a respect lifestyle on personal. To study composing of the sustainable interior design, we arranged interior design elements to compose sustainable space of housing. We investigated how to compose energy-efficiency, sustainable, interior tree-planting, alterable of the space.

This project was planned to construct the healing environment in medical clinic. The concepts of design were extracted from the literatures on this subject, and reflected on the output of design. The main concepts for the healing environment consisted of light, control of privacy and communication, efficiency, comfort, and identity. As a result the healing values had been realized in this medical clinic with design concepts, and we expected that they would provide users of this clinic with well-being society.

With the development of industrial technology an amount of information has sharply increased and an information-oriented society had come. This information environment changed the function of library. Today's public library not only save and record the information but also encourages residents to use information and culture activities such as lifelong education. As the library plays a variety role, it has become an multiplex space. Added new function, various space has formed and each space requires their own interior images that fits it's character. Here this study is to research new changed library's characteristic in interior image through five library's on-the-spot survey.

2007 Design Festival on Seongnam Living Design has been held with the theme of "You and I, We" on the basis of harmony through design. This kind of theme has the main concepts as follows: Harmony- the exhibition program that can capture our mind, Communication-the experience program not through personal work but through group work, Design Seongnam-joyful Sungnam which we have made together by regional participation design project. Especially, it also has encouraged active and voluntary participation based on the promotion of the event and design exhibition that are hosted by the universities, elementary and secondary schools that represent the downtown Seongnam. In understanding Seongnam City, it has applied the plan introducing emotional process. These are the programs, which are reading, thinking, listening, watching, touching, making, and dreaming. Through the processes of being with Seongnam by participants, it has helped people know more about Seongnam, and focused on being the exhibition understanding the members of the community Seongnam.

In modern society, sense of crisis from environmental destruction caused by rapid industrial development, economic growth and improvement of educational level and medicine made environmental preservation and comfortable residential environment a necessary and sufficient condition. Since government conducted 'green building rating system' from 2002, application of pro-environmental elements has been extended. But the concept of substantial pro-environmental housing remains the stage of complex planning yet and application of system to interior space which has the most direct influence on actual dwellers is very poor.

This design plan aims at the designing of the pharmacy counter as the space in which the two inter-related elements of the pharmacy, for example, the pharmacist and the customers, selling medicines and transmitting health informations, etc. keep in contact with each other. To create an ambience of intercommunication for health care and relaxation, it must be set up the basic concepts like Functionality, Flexibility, Transparence and Material-Change. As the design solutions : - first of all the long counter must be divided into the independent places with character and function. - in accordance with the basic concepts functionality and flexibility each small counter must represent a one's own form language that is determined according to a given function and also open and flexible to the change of the situation. - the various kinds of display module are introduced to bring out the functionality and the aestheticity simultaneously. - to make a contrasting image to each other various materials are arranged on and around the counters.

The Japanese 'H' motor company is the one of a few engine makers for F1 racing machine in the world. And it has a tradition and ability to make a humanoid walking robot 'Asimo'. But 'H' motor company is known as a motorcycle maker not a car in Korea. It wanted to reinforce the brand image and identity to Korean consumer. And it needed a powerful marketing tool for the brand image distinguished from other global motor companies. It demanded a stand design to show their powerful and unique identity for surpass other rivals in 2007 Seoul Motor Show. This stand for 'H' motor company in 2007 SMS has an area of 1,250m2 and located between huge domestic motor companies, K and SR. The design was planed to show its unique identity and image, overcoming its relatively small size. I designed a round-shape ceiling structures covered whole booth space for enclosure and vortical space sense. That made a strong brand image by light and sharp structures completely distinguished from other stands. And it has a main logo sign for recognizing the stand from a distance.

Nowadays, the disabled are increasing because of industrial injuries and traffic accidents. The attention of the disabled is flourishing along with growing concerns about social participation of tile disabled. The purpose of this study is to investigate the interior design factors for the disabled in public libraries. Four public libraries in seoul since 2000 were investigated. The findings of this study are as follows: The legal items are adequate. But many recommended items are inadequate. Generally, moving facilities are adequate, but direction and refuge facilities are inadequate. Cubicle and lending table are inaccessible for the disabled.

Currently, both Korea and Japan have cooperated to get a foothold in economic major countries in the Asia through the various economic cooperation and the overcoming of cultural difference in cultural interchanges between two countries. However, in the present age, two countries are on the other road in historical view and conception; the final report over 3 year studies by the two countries' history study partnership commission shows the above views; while Korea has been in base of Japan colonialization's unjustification, Japan has been in base of its facts. The aboves have proved that Japan has not taken an honest self examination and conscience over the history. Accordingly, Japan resistance volunteer memorial is proposed as the educational place to carry down the martyr's holy patriotism in later ages and practice its spirit by learning the resistance volunteer resistance volunteer movement, which focused on resisting the Japan invasion and fighting the independence.

With regal extension of balcony, the flexible design to remodel interior space of apartment has appeared as a new trend. But this desire of residents is allowed partially because of lack of flexible furniture design. So this study proposed to design for flexible livingroom cabinets at 30 pyong apartment according to life styles and furniture uses. To satisfy the storage and decoration of livingroom cabinets, it focuses on diverse decorative demands as well as practical functionality. And it suggests the applications of flexible factors; opening and closing, extension and reducing, assembling and dismantling, rotation and transfer according to 3 types like child-centered, hobby-centered, couple-centered family.

To promote the efficiency and comfort of the working environment, diverse employee's working characteristic and individual requirements have been observed. To build a good working environment, flexibility of space and communication between employees and employer in the office are very important. Due to the business growth, "K" financial company requires more working space. The design idea for the main areas such as the executive officer's room, the reception, the elevator hall, the conference rooms and the working areas in this project targets the harmony of the functionality and the aesthetic. This project could be able to deliver more convenient and comfortable working place by adopting three main concepts, which are modern, simplicity and moderation.

The direction of this project is creates a future and it experiences ubiquitous world. The subject of the space is 'Ubiquitous Creative World' which Imagining the past becomes actuality and imagining in future become actuality and future when it will approach at once. The storyline of this space is as belows; 1 Zone - Ubiquitous life Gallery : it will be able to experience the future world ; home, office, street, school and the others. 2 Zone - Interactive Play Gallery : it will be able to explore the interactive media with information technology ; digital cafe, imagining jump, digital art and the others. 3 Zone - New product and Business Gallery : it composed with business, new product, and demonstration gallery such as public information space. The space concept makes connection and concentration which uses unit and line for world which becomes accomplished by the network. Connection of digital and the human being to make the center of new digital life.

This project was designed to create a warmth space for Kwacheon House. To create warmth space, four factors - Natural Habitat, Timeless Comfort, Exotic Exuberance, Luxe Living - were hired to design concepts. At first, the walls were remained to support structure and to keep privacy and others were removed to draw in light to the inner space. Light is the main element to have variation and natural space. Ornaments that were motived by nature, were accepted in moulding, furniture and fixture to enhance the comfort. At last, classical lightings added up to harmonize between day and night.

New paradigm of modern society today - environmentally sound and sustainable development - led to the attempt on the introduction of natural elements in various spaces by people's interest in the quality of life. As one of the distinguished space marketing in designing the outer space of resort, this plan attempts to limit artificial boundary within open scenery, thus creating nature within nature - interior theme garden. In addition, this plan is aimed to obtain location property of inner garden through limited boundary, to promote the identity of resort by endowing it with new values in space and to form emotion care garden and culture garden for users. The plan has proceeded under the following concepts. 1) Differentiation from outer space has been made by creating a theme garden with unique theme garden - landscape elements and an attempt have been made to increase the values of interior garden through the introduction of new species of plants and the state-of-the-art facilities. 2) Emotion care garden - The garden has been created to get emotion purified systematically within nature and let people take a rest and enjoy their spare time. 3) Culture garden - The garden has been planned where culture could be created through various experience activities as a space with education and entertainment by providing a variety of interesting elements.
