In the phase of an architectural designing, the Pinakothek der Modeme in Munich is considered that it is influenced by the Altes Museum in Berlin. The critical elements were composed of the classification of Tominaka and my points of view. Two buildings were analyzed for comparison by six elements, such as, a spatial construction, an organization of plan, an organization of section, a composition of elevation, a method of construction and a composition of mass. The results of the analysis were that the design of the Pinakothek der modeme was influenced by the Altes Museum as follows: 1)the use of square and circle in the composition of plan, 2)the use of a curtain of columns and a formation of the transitional space between columns and front wall, 3)the location and function of the main stairs and the inner court, 4)the arrangement of exhibition halls, 5)the covering of dome, 6)the unification of spaces of different floors through the rotunda. This study may be helpful for any architects who make a decision of the method and the range of reference to some other building in the beginning of design.

Jeju Special Self-Governing Province are trying every effort to be presented as an International Free City with unique combination of history, culture and landscape, This research focuses on the analysis of characteristics we can find in buildings in Jeju province. The main purpose is to provide basic and informative materials for the landscape formation of Jeju by investigating current status of buildings in Jeju province. This research divides Jeju province into 34 areas and categorizes buildings by use. 2,973 cases in total are collected and analyzed their architectural features. A basic analysis of the collected data is conducted in the first and the second stages. And In the third stage, 505 cases whose addresses can be identified are selected for the in-depth analysis of the registered building data on architecture year, building area, and total area. These data are analyzed by the categories of region, year, and size for the study of general characteristics of buildings in Jeju. The results show that territoriality is weak because of the simplicity of building layout on the streets. Exterior form of buildings, streetscape image, and overall city image are tedious and boring because of the lack of the variety of facade and exterior finishing materials.

As people have paid much attention to their health along with increased interest in high quality of living, they have managed their health in organized manners. Space is a physical field which directly and indirectly interacts with human life, there is a little research on its therapeutic aspect and it is only negatively applied for development of products and alternative medicine. This study aims to identify research trends and flows targeting previous research on therapeutic approaches in domestic space design and present basic materials on space design approaches in a therapeutic view, which will be helpful in ultimate development of space design in theories and practices. As a result, it was discovered that there were only a few papers which were searched with direct key words on curative environment, which indicates that specific studies as therapeutic approaches are insufficient. When the studies were analysed according to annual publications, research on residential welfare and medical space was active, and research on design methodology, design techniques, and design plans was active, but research on psychology, behaviors, laws and institutions was relatively insufficient, which indicates studies on physical and psychological aspects of space design are necessary. In conclusion, it is suggested that further studies on therapeutic environment for direct and specific persons should be defined and classified although there have been relevant studies in various fields.

This study aims to be the useful resources for selecting play therapy facility in the future by analysis of used colors in the play therapy facility as the subsequent studies of the thesis of KIID in 2010, titled 'Study on the planning factors of case study for children's play therapy center'. As research method of this study, the overall understanding about play therapy facility was improved through theoretical considerations, and it was about the Moon-Spencer's theory of color harmony which will be used for the framework of case study. In Section 3, the field trips at 6 facilities were conducted as the case research and the data research through website was conducted for case study. Moon-Spencer's theory of color harmony used the Munsell's color Order System, so after measuring CMYK value of the picture for the case research through photo shop, the color, brightness and saturation were measured through Munsell Conversion program. The following three kinds of features were drawn by research of the harmony and disharmony of used colors for the cases after substituting the theory of color harmony through the measured color. brightness, and saturation. First. series Y and YR were used mainly for warm image as the concept of play therapy room. Second, the various colors were used for comfortable image like home. But the various patterns were used by mixing for the therapy room F, so it gives confusing impression. Third, series YR and achromatic color as the color of wood were used unavoidably for using materials of manufactured goods.

This thesis sets out to study the immanent mechanism of architecture which had classified as external spaces in general. As human controls a space, it controls or manages human's behavior, too. This study is depended on the humanities to analyze a various operation of power in the architectural space. It makes a comparative study of a space-power in a dwelling space through a discourse of Michel Foucault and Jacques Lacan, in particular everyday's microscopic scope. According to analytical results, the space-power of dwelling falls under the influence of a spacial arrangement and subject's desire. It has shown a noticeable characteristics in aspects production & consumption, using behavior, and use value. As it is seen through the aspects of production & consumption, owns of the space-power in a dwelling could not be its subject. We have also understood about a physicalistic furniture at the using behavior, it has a special power unconsciously to control a human's action and lifestyle. And then in the aspects of use value, the centric theme is a television. It lies on the core of space-power in dwelling, because is profoundly related to an innate respect of a dwelling value. In conclusion, so this study has the important meaning in the side to offer some interpretative possibility about the architectural space-power through a microscopic structure.

In this study, the ecosystem aesthetics is not only a critique against existing growth-ideology and technical civilization, but also the art pursuing the life as an artistic state and achieving the dream for qualitatively different new future. Lao-tzu's Natural Beauty assumes that the adaptation to natural laws can lead every purpose's achievement. Based on such theoretical alternative, the earth construction as a medium for coexisting mankind, nature and construction interacts with the other objects through the natural affinity, the energy efficiency, the material generation. The earth construction provides the images of naivety, naturalness, folk as well as emotional stability in cultural terms. This study's direction and method are as follows. First, it researches the ecosystem aesthetics from the Taoism viewpoint, the alternative for environmental healing based on theoretical reviews about the ecosystem aesthetics. Second, it researches the earth construction's ecosystem aesthetic features and construction features from the low-tech aspect in continual construction genealogy. Third, it analyzes some cases targeting domestic buildings by drawing out expression methods and features through the connectivity of earth construction and ecosystem aesthetics. The earth construction lies between the heaven and the earth, but coexists in natural cycle. The earth construction caused from ecosystem aesthetics will be a future alterative, and various studies about its features and methods should be continued.

All the phenomena and subjects of nature and society are within correlation interconnection, and they are inseparably connected one another. The elements of this interaction can be found out through the concept of transparency in the space composition of Korean traditional architecture. This study is focusing on the access space, in other words, a gate-house that is a buffer zone playing a process role up to the main space among successive spaces. It was chosen to be the subject of the study since it strengthens convergence into the main building and with the effect connecting spaces, it could show well the spatial possibility of transparency. Besides, the subject of the study is limited to the Moonru Multi roofs that improves the functionality of spaces between gate-houses, and it is intended to progress contents by comparative analysis of two kinds such as Seo Won gate-house and temple gate-house. Korean traditional architecture places emphasis on harmony within the whole spaces. There are intimate relations between surrounding environment, external spaces and internal spaces, and it is important understand the spatial relations according to the shape appearing through interactions of parts in the whole spaces. In conclusion, the Moonru Multi roofs is analyzed with the method of extracting the concept that is contained in the frame of analysis and through ecological views through a visible and structural method. It can be understood what kinds of method for communication were used for ancestors to recognize and use spaces with the deduced concept through the analysis of the Moonru Multi roofs with different character.

The purpose of this study is to set a relationship between intentional system and spatial orientation, and with space model in the human world to orient yourself is to present the basic spatial concepts. This is composed of parts of intentional system and spatial orientation on the research. Through the study of intentional system which is based on the orientation with Daniel Dennett's, it suggests the space-model that composed with aspects of intentionality and spatial elements. With space-model and judgement of spatial types, it makes relationship confirm between them. Through this process, following the results of this study were derived. First, intentional stance of space is the key for building knowledge and memories about space, and for identifying external environment images which are experienced in the senses of human. Second, changing the meaning from space to place makes horizons of space broader and creates a new sense of space with put the intentional orientation into the space. Third, this study can make confirm what the aspect of the space-schema-elements for orientation in space, serves as the presentation elements. This study leaps an old-view of the architectural customs about spatial orientation, and creates an opportunity to refine the newer concept of space. This concept of space is a basic essential for 'site-selection' and 'spot-catching' as an intentional system for spatial orientation and to establish a relationship with human beings in the world of his own orientation to the concept of space.

Under social changes focusing diversification, human-oriented ecological values and emotional and pscyhological satisfaction have been considered more important in space. Such trend has developed into interest in the effect of architectural space and shape on human perception and consciousness, and space has been considered as interactive in ecological, psychological and behavioral, and aesthetic terms rather than physical environment. In particular, exhibition space where interactive sympathy between environment and users through emotional experiences is more important, can have appropriate interaction through intended relationships between environment and humans in space. Therefore, this study aims to understand affordance, an internal mechanism of space recognition and human behaviors. Then it analysed representative types of exhibition space for emotional experiences as a characteristic of affordance Based on the results analysed, it is expected that introduction of affordance as real information in space will be helpful for effective connection of space with human emotional experiences.

When observing an object in a space, a part of it is remembered into our perception in the time for paying attention or conscious observation and it reaches to our visual understanding. In this study, it examined characteristics by each subject through the process of visual understanding by changes in such observation time. The results from this study are summarized as belows: First, through analysis of the observation data focused on the distance between the observed points, it was able to apply those visual theories organized before to the analysis of characteristics of the time for understanding by each subject. Second, there showed big differences in the time for visual understanding by each subject according to changes in the observation time so that it was found that there were big differences according to the characteristics of subject's intention or purpose of the observation of a space. Third, as the number of continuous observation gives an important clue in judgement of how well the space was understood, it was able to compare and organize the mutual characteristics of the time the attention was concentrated, the time observed intentionally and the time understood visually. Fourth, it was found that the shorter subjects gave the intentional observation in observing a space, the longer they spent the time for paying attention, while the less they could understand it visually.

This study identified characteristics of Christmas window display, which is one of visual marketing methods used in department stores, using cases of department stores in Seoul and the New York and to compare the characteristics between Seoul and New York department stores in order to extract the directions and components of window display in each country. Based on the photographs of Christmas window display at the sampled Seoul and New York department stores, we analyzed the window display of each department store. From the results of analysis were drawn conclusions as follows. First, as to the direction of Christmas window display design in Seoul and New York department stores, window display was designed using various themes according to the characteristic of each department store. In case of Seoul department stores, however, specific luxury brands linked to the characteristics of the department stores displayed their products separately, but in New York department stores, various Christmas themes, images related to the department stores, and products were displayed together according to the characteristic of the department stores. Second, among display components, the formative structure and the frequency of mannequin use were different between Seoul and New York department stores. Various formative structures and diverse mannequins used in the window display of New York department stores played the role of stamping the brand image of each department store and exhibiting various designs through window display.

Despite the recent economic depression, the beverage industry is becoming as big as the bakery industry, reaching 3 trillion in scale. With the national income exceeding twenty thousand dollars, the consumption of coffee has greatly risen, of which professionals say that the coffee craze is only in the beginning stage. With this growth, the number of coffee shops is also increasing, and in order to increase competitiveness and to secure profit in the market economy, design marketing is being perceived as a very important factor. By examining domestic coffee shops and their space design, and deducting their marketing strategies and expressive elements of space design through SWOT analysis and 4P analysis, this research aims to analyze domestic coffee houses and their marketing strategies by case studies. This research shows how important expressive elements are through comparison of the various expressive elements of space design used in the individual types of coffee houses. Future research might investigate in depth about each element and their adequateness for the space types.

This study is investigation into the number of major subjects and computer-using subjects in department of interior architecture-related in 2008 & 2010 year. We arranged and analyzed collected data by searching homepages of subjects to survey and was able to reach conclusions as follows : Firstly, the number of department of interior architecture-related has decreased in colleges and universities at the same time in 2010 than 2008. Secondary, computer-using subjects tended to open lower grades than higher grades, so students used to control computer softwares easily. Thirdly, the purposes of computer-related subjects divide to four parts, 2dimensional-drafting, 2dimensional presentation, 3dimensional design, 3dimensional presentation(modeling and rendering included). Fourthly, from average 4.7 to 4.3 subjects have opened each the two year(2008, 2010) in college and from average 4.7 to 2.5 subjects in universities. and each 4(or5) subjects in college and 2(or 3) subjects in universities are opened mostly. Fifthly, Computer-related subjects tend to decrease the number of opening those subjects in universities, however it is necessary to be opened four computer-related subjects at least in order to design by using computer softwares.

The purpose of this research is to analyze the manifestation of children's color education in the software in order to evaluate conditions of color education as well as improvement of its direction. The procedure and method of the research is begun from evaluating the characteristic of children's developmental stage, content analysis of the nation's organization of color education and analysis and evaluation of education program through the investigation on 8 different softwares in reward for the tournament. The results are as followings; First, the research shows that the elementary school stage of color education is inadequate in comparison to children's cognitive developmental stage. Second, most of the color theory was composed of characteristic of a color, stimulation of emotion and effects of psychology. Considering of children's cognitive development, it is necessary to make up for the basic of color theory and the system of color. Third, Softwares of color education program for 1 st. and 2nd grade in elementary school was so rare that it should be properly developed and made for systematic contents. Fourth, color education for the 5th and 6th grade children remained in understanding basic characteristics of the color which is below the par and brings the necessity for more professional and structural contents.

Third, the horizontal axis with respect to the identity and principles to guide development in the detail, and the vertical axis as a place to build an image in order for the specific design items are listed. Fourth, the guidelines can set a specific motif, and coverage including identity of the place. Fifth, by applying image and schematic the identity can be Implemented effectively and clearly. Without interfering with the designer's creativity and implement new image of the place, Design guidelines should study how a reasonable instructions.

In order to pursue the traces of truth, boundaries set by man for convenience were crossed or Integrated leading to the discovery of new paradigms. In particular, development of digital technology is moving away from its previous color based on scientific, statistical and quantitative perspective by using diverse variables. Also, as the borderlines of genres become increasingly more ambiguous, various concepts of color blending developed rapidly. Thus These chaosmos-like color blending have created new contents. This research aims to understand the principle of color blending in Karim Rashid's work, which advocates the world of design in diverse fields from industrial products to architecture. The principle of color blending such as information change, source color and destination color, interaction, and etc. makes it possible to extract the expressed element and method of color blending. Meanwhile, the features of color blending such as integrated space and time, vague form, and narrative genre can be inferred from case analysis.

Now, 1 person or 2 people households have increased in Korea. But the quality of living environment of small houses and small houses supply for university students are insufficient. The purpose of this study is to propose the types and spaces of small houses, and the elements and types of interior space planning of small houses for university students. This study surveyed 293 university students lived in metropolitan area. And the methods of this study are literature review and survey. Through this study, the conclusions of this study are as follows. First, the types of small houses are 9 types, and the types of interior space planning of small houses are 10 types. Seconds, the introduction of natural elements and spatial separation based on openness in small houses for university students are necessary. Thirds, the spatial planning for security and safety in small houses for university students are necessary. Fourth, the planning of various storage space and space maintenance of small houses are necessary. Fifths, generally, the consideration of functional elements as 'safety', 'storage', and natural elements as 'ventilation', 'view' and 'daylighting' in small houses are necessary for university students.

This study analyzed visitors' behaviors in the viewpoint of Attraction Power and Holding Power of exhibits on the basis of exhibition layout of real science museums. Through the analysis, the study grasped efficiency of analysis index and exhibition environment elements which might have an effect on planning the exhibition space of a large-scale museum and producing detailed ranges of exhibition. The main indicators used are: 1. Attraction Power: it indicates the relative incidence of people who have stopped in front of an object/exhibit during the exhibition tour. It is calculated by dividing the number of people who stop by the total number of people who have visited the museum or gallery. 2. Holding Power: it measures the average time spent in front of an information/communication element. It is calculated by dividing the average time of stay by the time "necessary" to read an element. As a result of analyzing the exhibition areas of National Science Museum (Daejeon) and National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation(Tokyo), the Holding Power was found to be relatively lower than the Attracting Power. This means that 3.5 out of 10 visitors stop in front of the exhibit in 6 exhibition areas, and among these, only 1/10 is used when compared to the user required time of the exhibits. In other words, like the method of deriving an analysis index, the stage of viewing can be categorized as Attracting Power and Holding Power, and because the stage from Attracting Power to the stage of Holding Power are strongly linked, it shows that it is not easy to display a meaningful result. Except, the general distribution of Attracting Power was shown to be high from the entrance area of the exhibition hall based on the standard of viewing sequence. Also, the Holding Power became sequentially lower according to the sequence of exhibition viewing and displayed a meaningful interrelationship with the distribution ratio of island exhibits. In the case of island exhibition method, it is less influenced by the movement flow of visitors when compared to the wall type method of exhibition and can be understood as an exhibition method that provides spatial chances enabling stopping and viewing.

Lately majority of churches have preferred to enlarge their worship area to both horizontal and vertical axis. According to expand their area which brings more devotees to the limited service area. Transform from a small church into a large church is no longer unprecedented issue in South Korea. As the size of church getting bigger, many unexpected issues become matters. One of the significant problem is that the number of people have experienced either fall a sleep or feel a doziness during their service period. Due to the limited condition for the specific building type such as religion facility(church), IAQ improvements is seriously concerned. Therefore, we are going to examine by using simulation tool, CF, a difference of ventilation efficiency about the location and number of windows, and find the best way of the ventilation efficiency in a multi-stories type church by changing the exhaust pipes location and size. Furthermore, in this thesis, by changing a ceiling height from the existing building to confirm that $CO_2$ have been satisfied for both the ventilation efficiency and IAQ.

Street furniture such as benches, streetlamps, and shades which are easily accessible in cities has contributed to the promotion of active, lively environment for people living in cities. Furthermore, they make the characteristics of specific regions and cities, and are valued as a communication interface to restore the relationships between people and cities. The street furniture design with inherent publicness is an essential element for leisurely life and refined image of modern people who have experienced severance and mental poverty in uniform, vertical modern city space with the development of advanced science and technology. The purpose of this study is to analyze the new design approaches to street furniture which plays an important role in the determination of the images of modern city environment and to examine the characteristics and trends of such designs. First, in accordance with the flow of studies from publicness and public space to street furniture, the concept and meaning of publicness which is the basic element of public space were identified through theoretical examination, and the characteristics and roles of modern public space were analyzed through literature review, data review, and international cases. Based on the results of this theoretical analysis, the concept and meaning elements, function elements, and design elements of the street furniture which was planned in accordance with the goal and functions of public space were identified. For the meaning elements of street furniture design, fun, health, culture, sustainability, and vitalization were identified. For the function elements of street furniture design, convenience, safety, and delivery were identified. As the characteristics of modern street furniture design, convergent, green, digilog, functional, and universal designs were analyzed. This study is meaningful in that it recognized the roles of street furniture in modern public space as a concrete, practical environmental design element and estimated the development directions of street furniture design in public space.

This study is on the space planning of accommodation area in accommodation barge, which is a kind of offshore plant supply vessel providing workers with exclusive accommodation facilities. Firstly, the space layout of accommodation area is analyzed using the general arrangement drawings of 10 actually-built accommodation barges currently in use. Secondary, the design guides and standards for living quarters of offshore plants issued from overseas classification societies such as ABS, NORSOK etc. are analyzed and based on the analysis design guidelines for accommodation area of accommodation barge are newly suggested. Thirdly, a model of accommodation area in accommodation barge is set up and space arrangements and movement lines for each deck of the accommodation area of the model are planned. Fourthly, cabins, dinning room and galley, recreation spaces, and sanitary spaces of the accommodation area of the model are planned. The results of this study may be summarized as follows. An accommodation barge has 'barge deck' for small scale work and material storage, and 'accommodation area' for the living and resting of workers. The accommodation area is made of workers accommodation sector, service sector, crew sector and business sector. The interior design guidelines for accommodation area of accommodation barge should be made soon by Korea Register of Shipping.
