필자가 금속절삭연구에 종사하여 오면서 때로 느낀 것 중에 이것만이라도 지켜 주었으면 하는 소망에서 본 제목을 택하여 보았다. 절삭 기구에 영향을 주는 인자는 수 없이 많으나 본 강좌에서는 free cutting에 의한 2차원 절삭과 3차원 절삭을 정의 하여 구별하고 공구각 중에서 가장 중요시 되는 유효졍사각에 대하여만 언급하고 절삭 실험에서 지켜야 할 기타 사항 순으로 피력코저 한다.

Using the design parameters of multi-joint manipulator, worspace of the manipulator were evaluated analytically, and the relation between such design parameters and nonlinearity of the manipulator were presented dynamically. The ratio of the volumes of a manipulator's workspace to the cube of its total link length presents a kinematic performance index [NVI] for the manipullator. It is possible to geometrically represent the manipulator dynamics with the generalized inertia ellipsoid (GIE). The relation between the GIE configuration and the characteristics of manipulator dynamics was analysed in terms of inertia and nonlinear forces (Coliolis and centrifugal forces). The nonlinearity caused by the change of the GIE configuration were affected by the difference between the major and minor axes length of the GIE. The results of this investigationare applied to the optimal design of the manipulator.

This paper describes a computer aided process planning system called "Deep-Drawing", "Deep-Drawing" is designed for the drawing sequence of cylindrical and rectangular cups with or without taper and flange. The computer program has written in BASIC language with personal computer. Design Rules for process planning are formulated from process limitation, plasticity theory and experimental results including the know-how of many manufacturing factories. "Deep-Drawing" Capabilities include the analysis of drawing sequence by the determination of optimal drawing ratio, the determination of intermediate shape, dimensions, punch and die radius etc., the calculation of drawing loads and blank holder force to perform each drawing step, and the graphic outputs for the operation sheet.tputs for the operation sheet.

Height micrometer is a kind of end standards. It consists of a stack of gage blocks which is capable of moving up and down by a micrometer head. Height micrometer requires calibration with very high accuracy because its resolution is generally 1 .mu. m and its accuracy is higher than few micro- meters. Conventionally, comparison with gage blocks is used to calibrate height micrometer, but it is less accurate and time consuming method. A height micrometer calibration system using a laser interferometer instead of gage blocks has been developed. The measuring range of the system is 300mm, and the accuracy is better than ${\pm}0.5{\mu}m$ A new method of maintaining the laser-beam alignment is described as well.

A triple hot-wire probe has an essential potentiality for the measure- ment of an instantaneous velocity vector in a three dimensional unsteady flow with large amplitude of velocity fluctuations, the key problems asso- ciated with this instrument are the directional range of applicability and the accuracy. This present paper is concerned with a new method of the techniques of calibration and data processing to estimate the three dimensional flow field using an arbitrary shaped triple hot-wire probe. The method is not based on the assumptions of orthogonality or symmetry and it is especially useful for applications to a hand-made probe where probe geometry is not accurately known. The test application is made to evaluate the effect of cone angles of symmetric non-orthogonal probe.

This paper presents the development of a microcomputer-aided design program for a SISO control system. The program has been written in GWBASIC language which is suitable for Intel 80861 CPU with 640KB memory. By utilizing this program, sampling time, the number of bits for the A/D and D/A converter, and the stability for the digital control system can be determined. To demonstrate the utility of this program, a microcomputer controlled precision temperature control system has been employed as an example.

This paper dealt with experimentally the effect of $N_2$ and $H_2$ gas mixtures ratio in the fatigue characteristics of SM45C on Ion-nitrided. The specimen were treated water cooling after Ion-nitriding at $500^{\circ}C$ and 5 torr. in 80% $N_2$and 50% $N_2$gas mixtures ratio in the atmosphere for 3 hrs. The hardness distribution and the depth of nitriding layer shows more increase in 80% $N_2$gas mixture ratio than 50% $N_2$. Ion-nitrided specim- en for 80% $N_2$gas mixture ratio show more increase infatigue strenght in the $>1.5{\times}10^5$ cycles region than 50% $N_2$. In the $<1.5{\times}10^5$cycles region, fatigue failure is due to cracking of the brittle nitrided case, and the propergation of the surface cracks into the core. But in the $>1.5{\times}10^5$cycles region, it is found that cracks propagate from the non-metallic inclusions in the subsurface.

In recent, the requirement of remote control of hychaulic system is in- creasing. The actuator unit whose output position is proportional to input electrical signal needs a pressure reducer and a dump valve. The pressure reducer provides a constant regulated pressure and filters contaminants. The dump valve supplies proper pressure to the pressure reducer and unloads when the system is not operated. In this thesis, dump valve and pressure reducer with auxiliary function are studied. The choke in the pressure reducer prevents actuator from supplying higher pressure than necessary pressure at beginning, and the spring constant affects on the dynamic characterisics. In dump valve, it is proved that diameter of servo-slide hold and choke diameter of dump plunger affects on damping response.

Surface rolling which is one of the plastic deformation have advantages to imporve surface roughness, hardness and fatigue strength with relatively simple processes. In this study, the effect of previous cutting process before rolling on the surface roughness in surface rolling for mild steel was investigated. The results obtained are as follows. (1) Waveness of the previous process has the effect on the precision of the works and coarse waveness resulted in less improvement of the surface roughness. (2) The reduction of diameter and increase of hardness can be obtained at the first rolling process.
