1994년 3월부터 1995년 2월까지 1년동안 말초성 안면신경마비로 경희의료원 한방병원 침구1과에 침치료를 받기 위하여 내원한 환자중 발병한지 1주일 이내로 이부(耳部) 대장포진(帶狀疱疹)이나 종양 또는 외상을 당하지 않은 초발환자 44명을 대상으로 일주일에 3회씩 합곡(合谷)(L14), 족삼리(足三里)(ST36), 영향(迎香)(LI20), 찬죽(BL2), 예풍(TE17), 지창(地倉)(ST4), 협차(頰車)(ST6), 수구(水溝)(GV26), 승장(承漿)(CV24), 양백(陽白)(GB14)과 어요(魚腰)(Ex-HN4)를 선혈(選穴)하여 자침하고 치료경과를 관찰하였다. 지창(地倉)에서 협차(頰車), 수구(水溝)와 승장(承漿)에서 지창(地倉), 양백(陽白)에서 어요(魚腰)로는 투자법을 실시하였다. 환자의 평균연령은 39.3세이었고, 여성이 63.6%를 차지하였고 그중 한 명은 임신중이었다. 안면신경마비의 회복판정 척도는 House-Brackmann facial nerve grading scales를 사용하여 초진부터 초진후 7주까지 또는 7주이내 완전히 회복될 때까지 매주 평가하였다. 86.4%의 환자가 초진후 7주이내에 완전히 회복 되었으며, 회복되는데 걸리는 기간은 평균 3.7주로 관찰되었다.

연구배경(硏究背景) 및 목적(目的): 국내(國內) 대부분(大部分)의 한방병원(韓方病院)에서 많은 수의 환자(患者)가 중풍(中風)으로 입원(入院)하고 있다. 이에 한방병원(韓方病院)을 찾고 있는 중풍환자(中風患者)에 대한 임상적(臨床的) 통계분석(統計分析)과 더불어 앞으로 나아가야 할 방향(方向)등에 대해 많은 연구(硏究)가 필요(必要)할 것으로 여겨져 본 연구(硏究)를 시작(始作)하였다. 대상(對象) 및 방법(方法): 1994년 1월(月) 1일(日)부터 동년(同年) 12월(月) 31일(日) 까지 경원대학교(暻園大學校) 부속(附屬) 한방병원(韓方病院) 순환기내과(循環器內科)에 Brain CT나 MRI상(上) 뇌혈관질환(腦血管疾患)으로 진단(診斷)받거나, 임상적(臨床的) 증상(症狀)으로 뇌졸중(腦卒中)으로 진단(診斷)받은 161예(例)의 환자(患者)를 대상(對象)으로 조사(調査)하였다. 결과(結果) 및 결론(結論): 1. 뇌졸중(腦卒中)의 종류별(種類別) 빈도(頻度)에서 뇌경색(腦梗塞)이 가장 많았으며 뇌출혈(腦出血), 지주막하출혈(蜘蛛膜下出血), 고혈압성뇌증(高血壓性腦症), 일과성뇌허혈발작(一過性腦虛血發作)의 순(順)이었다. 2. 선행질환(先行疾患)은 고혈압(高血壓)이 가장 많았으며, 당뇨(糖尿)도 많은 예(例)에서 나타났다. 3. 일반적(一般的)인 통례(通例)와는 달리 겨울보다는 여름에 많이 발생(發生), 입원(入院)하였다. 4. 입원당시(入院當時) 의식상태(意識狀態)가 안 좋았던 환자(患者)에게서 예후불량(豫後不良)한 환자(患者)가 많이 나타났다. 5. 물리치료(物理治療)의 평균(平均) 개시시기(開始時期)는 뇌경색(腦梗塞)에서 11.4일(日), 뇌출혈(腦出血)에서 22.7일(日)이었다. 6. 한(韓), 양방(洋方) 협진(協診)을 실시(實施)한 경우가 많았으며, 그 필요성(必要性)이 많이 나타났다.진단(診斷)에서부터 치료(治療)의 전과정(全過程)을 통(通)해서 서의치료(西醫治療)와 동의치료(東醫治療)를 결합(結合)하여 종합치료(綜合治療)를 하므로써 폐암(肺癌)의 치료효과(治療效果)를 높일 수 있는 새로운 치료법(治療法)으로 계속적인 연구(硏究)가 필요(必要)할 것으로 사료(思料)된다.較)하였다. 끝으로 본(本) 연구는 1965 年度 서울대학교 대학원(大學院) 연구비(硏究費)로 수행(遂行)한 것이며 본 연구를 시종 지도편달(指導鞭撻) 해 주신 서울대학교 농과대학 농화학과 주임교수 이춘영박사(李春寧博士)에게 감사(感謝)를 드리며 또한 본 연구의 시료를 제공하여 주신 서울대학교 농과대학 농학과 이고웅박사(李股雄博士)에 게 사의(謝意)를 표하는 동시에 본 연구의 분석에 협력하여 준 서울대학교 대학원 농화학과 김수영군(金洙榮君)에게 사의(謝意)를 표하는 바이다. 5 참조(參照)) (4) 벼를 pot에 심고 2회(回)에 걸쳐 control, Imidan, N-hydroxy methyl phthalimide, anthranilic acid 및 phthalimide의 10, 25, 50, 100 ppm 농도(濃度)의 각(各) 유제(乳劑)를 살포하고 일정기간후(一定期間後) 생육상(生育相)을 조사(調査)하였더니 Imidan 구(區)와 N-hydroxy methyl phthalimide 구(區)가 control 보다 좋은 성적(成績)을 보였다. (5) Imidan 250 ppm 유제(乳劑)를 수도엽면(水稻葉面)에 살포(撒布)하고 3 일(日), 5 일(日), 7 일(日) 및 14일후(日後)에 일정량(一定量)의 엽경(葉莖)을 채취(採取)하여 acetone으로 추출(抽出)k고 acetonitrile을 가지고 prechromatographic piriication 을 거쳐 paper chromatography에 의(依)하여 다음과

Arranging 63 kinds of separate volumes and papers published on Oriental medicine, I could get the result as follows. 1. The herbs for internal application used commonly in vitiligo are 155 kinds totally. The herbs for external application are 67 kinds. The herbs for external and internal both application examined into 23 sorts. 2. Herbs for weakness syndrome in vitiligo are 49 kinds. Another type, excess syndrome is 105 sorts, the'latter is roughly twice as many as the former. 3. It is as follows that the results of study in relations to kinds, factors, and medical treatments of herbs about vitiligo in and out of the country with the division of former times to 1900, 1901 to 1980, 1981 to 1990, and 1991 to the latest day. In comparative study of inner and outer of thc country about factors and medical treatments of vitiligo in chronicle classification, its factors in the internal documents are classified by outside factors. Although there arc the differences of factors by each epoch, however, the factors of vitiligo according to external documents are blood stasis(血熱), deficiency of um of the liver and kidneys(肝腎陰虛), deficiency of blood(血虛), excess of exhaustion(勞倦過多) etc. Moreover, the medical treatment is more diverse and the differences by each epoch as to the medical treatment is also put down more saliantiy than in internal documents. 4. In comparison with herbs in experimental and no experimental documents, herbs applied for weakness syndromes in experimental method are 40 kinds totally. The herbs in no experimental methods are 35 kinds. The herbs used by experimental method are 65 kinds. The common herbs for excess syndrome by no experimental method are 78 kinds. We can see comparable difference from kinds of herbs used by experimental method. In brief, there are the differences classified by each epoch in Oriental medicine for treatment. Especially one of the most important feature, the frequency in use of weakness syndrome herbs has increased more than that of excess syndrome herbs. In external documents (china) and experimental study, generally the differences of common herbs and factors have disappeared through many experimentsitudy. The classification of its factors have been fractionalized clinically. Besides, in Western medicine and Orienal medicine, vitiligo tends to be prescribed not to simple skin disease but a mental and physical disease, a whole body and an internal disease.

In industrialized countries, low back pam is very common, with up to 60 to 80% of the population being affected at some time in their lives. Herniated lumbar intervertebral disc is one of principal cause of low back pain and radiculopathy. The therapy of the disease is classified into conservative treatment or surgical intervention. The majority of these cases successfully heal with conservative managemant, even though it was claimed that the henirated disc material would not resolved spontaneously without surgical removal. It was reported that there was no significant difference in outcome and cost effectiveness between conservative and surgical therapy group. Also after conservative therapy the resorption of herniated disc with satisfactory improvement of symptom was reported. Conservative treatment includes bed rest, heat, drug therapy, therapeutic exercises, physical therapy such as traction and manipulation, and acupuncture. These managements show favorable outcome in the patients with herniated lumbar intervertebral disc. So conservative management should be applied in the therapy of herniated intervertebral disc, unless there exist aggravation during the first 3 weeks of treatment or apparent surgical care indication. And further investigation to improve effectiveness of conservative therapy should be ensued.

The survey was done on 30 cases of obese patients who were treated by fasting therapy in the Dept. of Oriental Rehabilitation Medicine, oriental medical hospital in Won Kwang University from May 1995 to August 1995. The results are as follows: 1. The ratio of females to males was 1:14. The distribution was 20th decades (63%), 30th decade(13%), 10th decade(6.7%), and 40th decade(6.7%). 2. In the age of obese-prevalence, the middle to high school years was the highest number as 12 persons(40%). The 20th decade(23.3%) and 30th decade(13.3%) were the second and third highest frequency of subjects. 3. In the obesity index, 150% of ideal weight was the highest percentage with persons(40%). 120-129%(30%), 130-139%(23.3%) and 140-149%(6.7%) were in order of frequency. 4. In the family histories of obese patients, it was found that hypertension had a high incidence of 8 persons. Other evidences of family histories were DM (7), cancer (3) and CVD (2). In hereditary tendency of obese parents, it was known that hereditary tendency of obese mothers was high at 14 persons, that of obese fathers was 5 persons, and that of obese parents was 2 persons. 5. In identifying the cause of obesity, it was found that changes of diet patterns was high at 24 persons(80%). Pregnancy, birth and diseases were in order of cause. 6. The review of consumption showed that obese patients ate the same amount as non-obese persons in the case of 21 patients(70%), 8 patients(26.7%) ate more than non-obese persons and 1 person(3.3%) ate less than persons of the same ages. 7. Obese patients consumption of daily snacks was 10 persons(33%). 17 person(57%) of the obese patients ate midnight snacks every 3-4 days. 11 persons(37%) of the obese patients ate out every 3 - 4 days. 8. For the purpose of weight reduction, 15 patients(50%) used exercise. Fasting therapy(36.7%) and food restriction(33.3%) were the second and third methods used by obese patients. 9. In the relation of constitution medicine usage with obese patients, TAE-EUM-IN was 14 persons(46.7%), SO-EUM-IN was 11 persons(36.7%), and SO-YANG-IN was 5 persons(l6.7%).

This bibliographic study was designed to research indications of the Moschus which was representatively used for resuscitation in acute stage of stroke throughout successive books of oriental medicine. Especially, in this study, severe cases with disturbance of consciousness and acute stage of stroke were investigated. The results were summarized as the followings: 1. The Moschus was dried material which secreted from aromatic vescicle of Moschus moschiferus L.. which was pungent in flavor, warm in nature, nontoxic and strongly aromatic. The Moschus removed the obstruction in the channels and used to early stage of stroke. 2. The Moschus was aromatic resuscitatable medicine, which recovered disturbance of consciousness due to stroke. 3. The Moschus had excitatory actions of respirtory center and vascular motor center, heart stimulating action, inhibitatory action of the platelet aggregation and anti thrombin action and recovered cerebral ischemic change. According to these actions, the Moschus could be used cerebral infarction. 4. Prescriptions included the Moschus was used to symptoms of unconsciousness, secretion, stuporous mental state, dysarthria, facial palsy and hemiplegia. That was Angungwoohwangh wan(安宮牛黃丸), Woohwangchungshimwon(牛黃淸心元), Sahyangsohaphangwon(麝香蘇合香元), etc. According to the above mentioned results, the Moschus was aromatic resuscitatable medicine which was used for symptoms of conscius disturbance, convulsion, sudden fainting etc., promoted cerebral blood flow and had good effect on acute stage of stroke and severe cases with conscious disturbance. Therefore, it is considered that the Moschus must be studied for effect of cerebral infarction and hemorrhage in clinic with animal's and pharmacological experimental results.

In the Oriental Western Consideration of Habitual Abortion, the result of this study is summarized as follows: 1. Habitual abortion means repetition of Tatae(abortion within 3 months), Sosan(abortion after 3 months), and Bansan(abortion after 5 months), as it agrees with Hoaltae, Sutatae and Nuing-Nuta in oriental medical science. 2. Frequency in Occurrence of habitual abortion is about 0.2-0.4%> in the whole pregnancy and the Ratio of Risk increases according to frequency and age increase. 3. Generally, the cause of habitual abortion is due to the cause of the mother. Therefore, diagnosis and treatment of before-childbirth are needed, and 'measures taken to prevent abortion' is in use to improve the condition of health of before-childbirth in oriental medical science. 4. The 50-60% of early abortion is due to the heterochromosome and the ratio of risk of habirual abortion is hightest in heterochromosome. 5. The causes of habitual abortion are summarized as vital energe and blood weakness. impairment of Chong and Ren, aflection by exopathogen, fever caused by blood deficiency. weakness of the spleen and the stomach, excess of seven emotion. excess of a sexual desire and injury of a contusion and also the treatments are summarized as invigorating qi (vital energy) and enriching the blood, reducing fever and enriching the blood, reinforcing the spleen, tonifying the Chong and Ren, the practice of a sceticism, psychological peace in oriental medical science. 6. The approch of modem oriental medical science is based on diagnosis and treatment based on 'over all analysis of symptoms and signs' of traditional oriental medical science. it goes abreast with diagnosis of western medical science, and it can be expected mare inclusive effect of treatment because 'Acupuncture for prevent abortion', 'Acupuncture with the needle warmed by burning moxa', and so on being developed except medicinal therapy.

월경통(月經痛)은 부인과(婦人科) 질환중(疾患中) 가장 흔한 질환(疾患) 중의 하나로서 대부분의 여성(女性)들은 월경(月經)의 시작(始作)과 함께 그 정도(程度)가 경미(輕微)한 어느 정도(程度)의 복부불쾌감(腹部不快感)이나 피로감(疲勞感)등을 느끼지만 일상생활(日常生活)에 별다른 지장(支障)을 초래(招來)하지않을 뿐 아니라 월경직전(月經直前)에만 나타났다가 월경(月經)이 시작(始作)되면 정상(正常)으로 회복(回復)되므로 특별(特別)한 치료(治療)를 요(要)하지 않는다. 다만 그 정도가 심(甚)하여 강도(强度)가 높은 동통(疼痛)을 수반(隋伴)하거나, 혹(或)은 장기화(長期化)하여 심신(心身)에 장애(障碍)를 초래(招來)하게 되는 경우 이것을 월경통(月經痛)이라하니 치료(治療)를 하지 않으면 안된다. 월경통(月經痛)의 원인(原因)은 다양(多樣)하지만 병기(病機)는 모두 기혈(氣血), 허실한열(虛實寒熱), 경전(經前), 경후(經後)를 막론(莫論)하고 통(通)하지 않으므로 통(痛)하게 된 것이라고 할 수 있다. 그러므로 월경통(月經痛)의 치료원칙(治療原則)은 통(通)하게하여 불통(不痛)케하는 것이니, 활혈통락(活血通絡)하고 충임맥(衝任脈)과 기혈(氣血)의 조리(調理)를 위주(爲主)로 하여 온경지통(溫經止痛)하고 통창기혈(通暢氣血)한다. 월경통(月經痛)의 치료법(治療法)은 월경(月經)의 변화시기(變化時期)에 따라 치료법칙(治療法則)에 차이(差異)가 있으나 그 중에서 월경중(月經中)에 치료하는 것이 가장 치료효과(治療效果)가 우수하다고 한다. 이에 월경중(月經中)에 한약(韓藥)의 내복치료(內服治療)와 함께 병용(竝用)하여 사용할 수 있는 치료법(治療法)중 경락(經絡)에 약물(藥物)을 붙이므로서 약물(藥物)의 효능(效能)이 직접 경락혈위(經絡穴位)의 피부(皮膚)를 통하여 흡수(吸收)되어 종합적(綜合的)으로 효과(效果)를 발휘(發揮)하므로 치료효과(治療效果)가 신속(迅速)하며 통증(痛症)이나 부작용(副作用)도 없고 경제적(經濟的)인 혈위첩부요법(穴位貼敷療法)을 월경통(月經痛)에 이용한 자료를 조사하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 월경통(月經痛)의 혈위첩부요법(穴位貼敷療法)은 주(主)로 기체혈어(氣滯血瘀)와 한습응체(寒濕凝滯)한 실증(實症)의 월경통(月經痛)과 원발성월경통(原發性月經痛)인 경우(境遇)에 많이 응용(應用)되었다. 2. 월경통(月經痛)의 혈위첩부요법(穴位貼敷療法)에 있어서 치료혈위(治療穴位)는 신궐혈(神闕穴), 즉 제부위(臍部位)의 복부임맥혈(腹部任脈穴)들을 주로 선혈(選穴)하고 있다. 3. 월경통(月經痛)의 혈위첩부요법(穴位貼敷療法)의 치료약물(治療藥物)은 주(主)로 활혈거어(活血祛瘀)하고 온경통락지통(溫經通絡止痛)하는 약물(藥物)들로서 내치법(內治法)의 약물(藥物)과 동일(同一)하였다. 4. 월경통(月經痛)에 혈위첩부요법(穴位貼敷療法)으로 치료(治療)한 시기(時期)는 월경(月經) 3일전(前)부터 월경중(月經中), 또는 월경후(月經後)까지의 기간(期間)으로 주(主)로 월경전후기(月經前後期)에 집중(集中)되어 있다. 5. 월경통(月經痛)의 혈위첩부요법(穴位貼敷療法)의 치료효과(治療效果)는 우수(優秀)한 것으로 나타났으며, 주(主)로 기혈허약(氣血虛弱)이나 간신휴손(肝腎虧損)의 허증(虛症)보다는 기체혈어(氣滯血瘀)와 한습응체(寒濕凝滯)의 실증(實症)인 경우(境遇)에 더 치료효과(治療效果)가 우수(優秀)하였다. 6. 월경통(月經痛)의 혈위첩부요법(穴位貼敷療法)은 외치법(外治法)의 하나로서 간편하고 경제적(經濟的)이며 통증(痛症)과 부작용(副作用)이 없는 등(等)의 장점(長點)이 있다. 7. 이상(以上)으로 월경통(月經痛)의 혈위첩부요법(穴位貼敷療法)은 행경기(行經期)에 급치(急治)하고 표치(標治)하는 치법(治法)으로 활용(活用)할 수 있다.

The results were as follow: 1. In classification of the virulence of medicines, it is the virulent animal that have a deadly poison and the rest is the animal of weak nor non-toxic. 2. In classification of the channel distribution, the most is the medicine that belongs to liver channel, the next are the stomach, lung, kidney and spleen channel. 3. In classification of four characters, the most parts are cool, common and warm medicine and there is a few that is hot and cooling. 4. In classification of five tastes, the most numerous tastes are sweet and salty and the next are acrid, bitter and sour tastes. 5. In classification of the medical action, there are few medicine of invigorating vital energy, tonic therapy and astringent and a great part of the medicine are regulating vital energy and blood, removing blood stasis and mass, clearing away heat-evil and eliminating sputum, calming the river to inhibit the wind-evil and pain control. 6. In classification of the application of cancer, the most numerous disease is the liver cancer and the next are stomach cancer, esophageal cancer, lung cancer, leukemia, uterine cancer,mastitis, brain tumor.

폐암(肺癌)의 치료법(治療法)에 대해 서의치료(西醫治療) 동의치료(東醫治療) 동서의(東西醫) 결합치료(結合治療)에 대해 최근문헌(最近文獻)을 중심(中心)으로 고찰(考察)해 본 결과(結果) 다음과 같은 결론(結論)을 얻었다. 1. 폐암(肺癌)의 서의치료법(西醫治療法)은 소세포암(小細胞癌)(SCLS)과 비소세포암(非小細胞癌)(NSCLS)으로 나누어 분기(分期) 및 증상(症狀)에 따라 수술치료(手術治療) 방사선치료(放射線治療) 화학치료(化學治療)를 단독(單獨)으로 또는 두가지 이상 복합(複合)해서 활용(活用)한다. 2. 폐암(肺癌)의 동의치료(東醫治療)는 초기(初期), 중기(中氣), 말기(末期)로 나누어 부정거사(扶正祛邪), 공보겸시(功補兼施), 기혈쌍보(氣血雙補)의 치법(治法)을 쓰거나 증상(症狀)에 따라 폐비기허형(肺脾氣虛型), 폐열음허형(肺熱陰虛型), 습담어조형(濕痰瘀阻型), 기혈어체형(氣血瘀滯型), 기음양허형(氣陰兩虛型)으로 분(分)하여 변증시치(辨證施治)하거나 혹은 단미(單味) 또는 복방(復方)으로 대증치료(對證治療)를 한다. 3. 폐암(肺癌)에 대(對)한 동서의결합치료(東西醫結合治療)를 함으로써 생존율(生存率)이나 생존(生存)의 질(質)에 있어서 현저(顯著)한 향상(向上)이 있는데 수술후(手術後) 동서결합치료(東西結合治療)는 수술후(手術後) 회복력(回復力)을 촉진(促進)시키고 생존율(生存率)을 높였다. 방사선치료(放射線治療)와의 결합치료(結合治療)는 방사선치료(放射線治療)에 의한 독부작용(毒副作用)을 감소(減少)시켜 치료효과(治療效果)를 높이고 생존율(生存率)을 높였다. 화학요법(化學療法)과 동의결합치료(東醫結合治療)는 화학요법(化學療法)의 독부작용(毒副作用)을 경감(輕減)시키고 생존(生存)의 질(質)과 생존율(生存率)을 높였다. 이상(以上)의 결과(結果)로 보아 폐암(肺癌)의 치료(治療)는 진단(診斷)에서부터 치료(治療)의 전과정(全過程)을 통(通)해서 서의치료(西醫治療)와 동의치료(東醫治療)를 결합(結合)하여 종합치료(綜合治療)를 하므로써 폐암(肺癌)의 치료효과(治療效果)를 높일 수 있는 새로운 치료법(治療法)으로 계속적인 연구(硏究)가 필요(必要)할 것으로 사료(思料)된다.

Using Bi-Digital O-Ring Test which was developed by Ohmura Toshiaki, constiution classification by the vegetables' was Measured by various muscle power measurement meters and the results are as follow: 1. Pinch Gauge (Model:pc5030HPG, Japan) is the gauge to measure finger power between the thumb and the second finger, Grip Strength Dynamometer (Model: T.K.K. 5101, Japan) is to measure the hand power (hand dynamometer), Back Strength Dynamometer (Model: T.K.K. 5102, Japan) is to measure back muscle strength, Vertical jump Meter (Model: T.K.K. 5106, Japan) is to measure the height of jump. The above gauges were and its result found that the radish, potato, carrot and cucumber can influence to muscle strength was not true. 2. When the physical constitution is distinguished by the O-Ring Test method, Taeyangin's rate appeared as average 21% although it was insisted that there will be only 0.03-0.1%. This means that the physical constitution but it appears accidently according to the examinee's emotion about the material such as vegetable etc. as favor or unfavor. 3. It was found that the result of O-Ring Test is the same at any time and at any place was not true. there is no reemergence character. 4. The import of O-Ring Test mehtod to the physical discrimination disregarded that the mental factor influences absolutely to the physical heath in the ideological physi cal constitution medical science. 5. 'O-Ring Test method is a objective judgement method.' is wrong judgement. As you see on the above result, Bi-Digital O-Ring Test set the changeable voluntary muscle as the standard of the judgument, that was first mistake logically, second in spite of leass influence of mental influence by the examiner and examinee than the vegetable discrimination influence, the test disregarded the influence. Third, only grasp of some material on hand can influence to the voluntary muscle was a wrong theory disregarding the physiology. Finally the misunderstaning his subjective view as an objective view in spite of examiner and examinee's strong influence. Therefore such kind of physical descrimination method must be sublated.

The experimental studies were done to research the clinical effects of lnsambaekhabtang and Insambaekhabtanggamibang on the xylene-poisoned-lung damage and hypoprothrombinemia induced by warfarin injection in rats and mice. The results are as follows: 1. As to the hemostatic time in mice, lnsambaekhabtang was recongnized no significance but Insambaekhabtanggamibang was recognized significance( P<0.02 ). 2. As to the prothrombine time in rats. lnsambaekhabtang and lnsambaekhabtanggamibang Were recognized significance ( P<0.05, P<0.05 ). 3. As to the recalcification in rats, Insambaekhabtang and lnsambaekhabtanggamibang Were recognized significance ( P<0.05, P<0.02). 4. As to the lung TBA values in Xylene intoxicated rats, Insambaekhabtang was recognized significance but Insambaekhabtanggamibang was no recognized significance ( P<0.05). 5. As to the oxygen consumption in Xylene intoxicated rats, Insambaekhabtang and lnsambaekhabtanggamibang were no recognized significance. According to the above findings, it is suggested that the solid extract of Insambaekhabtang and Insambaekhabtanggamibang revealed effects on the xylene-poisoned-Iung damage and hypoprothrombinemia induced by warfarin injection in rats and mice.

The following results were made by observation GOT, GPT, ALP, total cholesterol and higlyceride in serum to research the effects of medicines which are Injinsaryungsan(Sample- A) and another medicine(Sample-B) of which Injin(Artemisiae Capillaris Herba)was increased in quantity on liver damaged by $CCl_4$ and d-galactosamine in rats. 1. The high concentrated extracts of Sample A group and Sample- B group showed significant inhibltory effects on the increase of serum GPT, ALP, LDH, total cholesterol and triglyceride levels induced by $CCl_4$ and d-galactosamine. 2. The high concentrated extracts of sample A group and Sample B group showed more significant inhibitory effects(P〈0.001) than the low ones' effects(P〈0.01) on the increase of serum triglyceride level induced by $CCl_4$ 3. Sample-A group showed significant inhibitory effects on the increase of serum GOT, GPT. ALP, total cholesterol and triglyceride levels, but no significance on the increase of serum LDH level induced by d-galactosamine. 4. Sample-B group showed very significant inhibitory effects on the increase of serum GOP, GPT, ALP, LDH, total cholesterol and triglyceride levels induced by d-galactosamine. 5. As compared with Sample-A group, Sample-B group of which Injin was increased in quantity showed more significant inhibitory effects on all items of this experiment induced by $CCl_4$ and d-galactosamine. As mentioned above. it seemed that both Injinsaryungsan and another medicine of which Injin was increased in quantity had effects protecting liver and anti-fatty liver induced by $CCl_4$ and d-galactosamine in rats. Specially Sample-B group had very significant effects on liver damage as compared with Sample-B group. Therefore it seems that more researches on variation according to the increase of Injin dose must be continued for curing liver diseases.

The studies were investigated in the coma time and the survival time induced by KCN, the duration of breathing after decapitation, the survival time following ligation of both common carotid arteries and the survival time after it is treated for normobaric bypoxia with a nitrogen gas, a carbon dioxide gas or a vaccum in mice. The results were as follows: 1. In histotoxic anoxia, Moschus(0.4mg／kg, p.o) demonstrated a protective effect on coma induced by a sublethal dose of KCN(1.8mg／kg, i.v.) in mice. 2. Mice subjected to a lethal dose of KCN(3.0mg／kg, i.v.) did not die by administration of Moschus. 3. Moschus was significantly extended the duration of breathing after decapitation in mice. 4. Moschus showed a significant extension of survival time in mice following ligation of both common carotid arteries. 5. In the normobaric hypoxia with a nitrogen gas, Moschus showed a significant extension of survival time in mice. 6. In the normobaric hypoxia with a carbon dioxide gas, Moschus showed a significant shortness of survival time in mice. 7. In the normobaric hypoxia with a vaccum, Moschus showed a significant extension of survival time in mice. From the above results, it is suggested that Moschus demonstrated protective effects on the brain damages induced by cerebral anoxia.

The purpose of this study was to know the difference of the effect between the E- A and the S-A. The 19 patients complaining the pain on the neck, shoulder and upper limb were chosen, divided and controled by two groups; One was the E-A group treated at upper limb meridian point, the other was the therapy group treated by S-A at the scalp and E-A at upper limb meridian point together. In 20 minutes after treatment, the change of plasma cortisol concentration was observed. The results were as follows: 1. In E-A group, there was no significant change of plasma cortisol concentration. 2. In S-A and E-A group, there was significant increase to plasma cortisol concentration. In conclusion, it seems that the increased stimulation by the treatment of S-A and E-A together has close relation with the plasma cortisol concentration. And the further study about the intensity of acupuncture stimulation and S-A is expected.

SANGNYANGHYOLTANG(SYT) is one of the most important prescription that has been used in oriental medicine for diabetes mellitus. The sudy was done in order to elucidate the anti-diabetic effect of SYT. After pretreatment of SYT(1,000mg／kg) for 6 weeks, the effect of of SYT was prevented on serum liver function test and hepatic lipid peroxide content in rats i.v. injected with streptozotocin(STZ, 50mg／kg, tail vein) 5 weeks after pretreatment of SYT. The hepatic microsomal cytochrome P-450 and aniline hydroxylase were significantly decreased, and aminopyrine N-demethylase activity was significantly increased in SYT-STZ group as compared with control group. Changes in aldehyde oxidase, xanthine oxidase, superoxide dismutase, catalase, epoxide hydrolase, UDP-glucuronyltransferase and sulfotransferase activities were not significantly different in any of the group. The cytosolic glutathione S-transferase activity was significantly decreased in SYT-STZ group as compared with control group. The selenium-independent glutathione peroxidase was significantly increased in SYT-STZ group as compared with control group, but there was no significant difference in selenium-dependent glutathione peroxidase in any of the groups. The hepatic glutathione concentration was significantly increased in SYT-STZ group as compared with control group, and ${\gamma}-glutamylcystein$ synthetase and glutathione reductase activities were not significantly different in any of the groups. The hepatic lipid peroxide content, serum aminotransferase and sorbitol dehydrogenase activities were slightly decreased in significantly in SYT-STZ groups.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of pretreatment with Saegchinyanghyoltang(SYT) on the serum lipid composition and atherosclerotic index in streptozotocin(STZ)-induced diabetic rats. SYT pretreatment in STZ-induced diabetic rats inhibited the rise of serum glucose concentration. Serum total lipids and triglyceride levels in the STZ -induced diabetic rats were significantly higher than those in the control group. But in the group pretreated with SYT, triglyceride and lipid levels were significantly lower compared with those of STZ -induced diabetic rat group without STZ. However, the serum phospholipid levels were not statistically different among treatment groups. In the STZ-induced diabetic group, the serum total cholesterol, VLDL-, LDL-cholesterol levels and atherosclerotic index Were higher and HDL-cholesterol level was lower compared to the control group. However, these changes were prevented by SYT pretreatment Pretreatment with SYT significantly increased the activities of serum lipase compared to the STZ-treated group.

Jwagyuyeum and Woogyuyeum, being known to reinforce Kidney-yin and -yang, were tested for the effects of on free radical generating enzyme and lipid peroxidation in senile rat brain. In vitro, levels of lipid peroxide in tissues of brain were proportionally decreased to concentration of extracts prepared from Jwagyuyeum and Woogyuyeum. They were much more decreased, when lipid peroxidation was induced with ferrous iron ($Fe^{-2}$). In vivo, after both berbs were administered to the rat. levels of lipid peroxide in brain were decreased. especially it was much more decreased using Jwagyuyeum. Also, enzyme activities of xanthine oxidase and aldehyde oxidase in brain were decreased. The ratio of type conversion of the brain xanthine oxidase was lowered in both, especially Jwagyuyeum was much more done. These results suggest that Jwagyuyeum and Woogyuyeum decrease the activities of free radical generating enzymes such as xanthine oxidase and aldehyde oxidase which form lipid peroxide, Consequently both herbs might delay aging.

In order to prove the antitumor effect of Wekyungtang(WKT) that was originated in Bigeubchunkeumyobang(備急千金要方), Wekyungtang with Houttuyniae Herba(WKT-I) and Wekyungtang with Oldenlandiae diffusae Herba(WKT-II) experimentally, the studies were done, We evaluated the cytotoxic activity against B16- Fo as well as the synergistic effects with anticancer drugs such as cyclophophamide (CPM), cisplatin(CPT) and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in vitro and measured body weight, survival time, hematological changes, changes of tissues in G57BL／6 implanted with B16-Fo. The results were obtained as follows: 1. In vitro cytotoxic effect against B16-Fo was shown in all groups as compared with control group, but the concentrations showing inhibitory growth rate below 55% of control was recognized in all concentrations of Wekyungtang(WKT) against B16-Fo and also concentration of $10^4$g／ml above in all group with cyclophophamide (CPM), concentration of $10^3$g／ml in Wekyungtang(WKT-l) with cisplatin(CPT) in synergistic effect, 2. In vivo body and tumor weight were significantly suppressed in all groups as compared with control group 3. The number of platelet, WBC, RBC were significantly increased in all groups, platelet aggregation was significantly increased in WKT-I and WKT-II as compared with control group. 4. In changes of tissues heavy infiltration oh cancer was shown in portal vein, pulmonary tissue, vein, peribronchiole, aveoli, while WKT-I was effective in antihepatic metastasis and WKT-II in pulmonary matastasis. From above results it was concluded that wekyungtang(WKT), wekyungtang with Houttuyniae Herba(WKT-I) and wekyungtang with Oldenlandiae diffusae Herba(WKT -II) had antitumor effect, and also wekyungtang combined with Houttuyniae Herba or Oldenlandiae diffusae Herba were more effective than wekyungtang only and also cyclophophamide (CPM), cisplatin(CPT) showed the more synergistic effect which suggests the necessity of continuous study on the mechanism of antitumor action of Houttuyniae Herba or Oldenlandiae diffusae Herba.

In order to prove the antitumor effect of Taraxaci Herba experimentally, studies were done. The antitumor effect against hepatic cancers such as Hep G2. Hep 3B & PLC and also the synergstric action was evaluated in the combined treatment with anticancer drugs using chiefly for liver cancer. such as. The results were obtained as follows: 1.$IC_{50}$ against Hep G2. Hep 3B and PLC was $15.5{\mu}g/ml.\;25.4{\mu}g/ml,\;31.25{\mu}g/ml$ in Mitomycin C(MMC), $92.5{mu}g/ml,\;50.2{\mu}g/ml,\;62.5{\mu}g/ml $in cisplatin(CPT) and 125 in 5-flurouracil(5-FU) respectively. 2. In cytotoxic effect against Hep G2 every fractions showed the anti tumor effect as compared with the data of control but EE fraction of Taraxaci Herba was most effective and also hexane fraction was most effective in the combined treatment with anticancer drugs. 3. In cytotoxic effect against Hep 3B every fractions showed the antitumor effect as compared with the data of control but EE fraction of Taraxaci Herba was most effective and also hexane fraction was most effective in the combined treatment with anticancer drugs. 4. In cytotoxic effect against PLC every fractions showed the anti tumor effect in the concentrations of $10^{-5}g/ml$ above as compared with the data of control and also the combined treatment with MMC was most effective. 5. Fractions of Taraxaci Herba showed the most antitumor effect against Hep 3B and also the combined treatment with MMC was most effective. From the above result it was concluded that ethyl ether fraction of Taraxaci Herba was most effective fraction, every fraction showed more antitumor effect against Hep 3B and Hep G2 than PLC.

In order to prove the antitumer effect of Bupleuri Radix(BR) and Artemisiae capillaris Herba(ACH) experimently, studies were done. The antitumer effect against hepatic cancer such as Hep G2, PLC & Hep 313, and also th synergastic action was evaulatcd in the combined treatment with anticancer drugs using chiefly for liver cancer, such as mitomycin(MMC), cisplatin(CPT) and 5-fluorouracil(5-FU). The results were obtained as follows: 1. IC50 against Hep G2, Hep 3B and PLC was 15.5ug/ml, 25.4ug/ml, 31.25ug/ml in Mitomycin (MMC), 92.5ug/ml, 50.2ug/ml, 62.5ug/ml in cisplatin(CPT) and 125ug/ml in 5-fluouracil(5- FU) respectively. 2. The antitumor effect was shown in the all concentrations of ACH, BR and below 55%-Cytotoxic effect against Hep G2 as compared with the date of control was shown in the concentration of $10^{-4}g/ml$ above of BR but not in ACH and also BR and ACHI revealed the synergistic effect with MMC. 3. The antitumor effect was shown in the concentration of $10^{-5}g/ml$ above of ACH, BR and below 55%-Cytotoxic effect against Hep 3B as compared with the data of control was shown in the concentration of $10^{-5}g/ml$ above of ACH but not in BH and also BR & ACH revealed the svnergistic effect with MMC. 4. The antitumor effect was shown in the all concentrations of ACH, BR and 55%-Cytotoxic effect against PLC as compared with the data of control was shown in the concentration of $10^{-5}g/ml$ above of ACH but not in BR and also ACH revealed the synergistic effect with MMC. From the above results it was concluded that Artemisiae capillaris had antitumor effect against PLC, Hep 3B, Bupleuri Radix against Hep G2 and also MMC showed the most synergistic effect in the anticancer drugs.

The present study was carried out to investigate the effect of water extract and 70% ethanol extract from Gastrodiae Rhizoma on cardiovascular activities and plasma levels of catecholamines in unanaesthetized spontaneously hypertensive rats. The depressor response in SHR was observed during three to six hour period after an oral administration of water extract from Gastrodiae Rhizoma(GR). There was a statistically significant correlation between the magnitude of the depressor response induced by an oral administration of water extract from GR and the initial control blood pressure level. The increase in blood pressure induced by norepinephrine was less in Wistar rat treated with GR water extract than those without GR extract. No significant change in heart rate was observed in SHR receiving either water extract or ethanol extract from GR. Associated with the depressor response, there was a concomitant reduction in plasma levels of norepinephrine in SHR at 4 hour after an oral administration of water extract from GR. Plasma levels of norepinephrine and epinephrine were decreased slightly at 2 hour after an oral administration of ethanol extract from GR. These results suggest that the depressor effect of water extract from GR may be due, in part, to a decreased sympathoadrenal activity.
