This study proposed a technique for inverse problem, linear approximation of contact position and loading in single and double meshing of spur gear, using 2-dimension model considered near the tooth by root stress. Determine root stress is carried out for the gear tooth by finite element method and boundary element method. Boundary element discretization near contact point is carefully performed to keep high computational accuracy. And from those estimated results, the comparing estimate value with boundary element method value was discussed.

In this paper, The torque of CNC spindle motor during machining is estimated without speed measuring sensor. The CNC spindle system is divided into two parts, the induction spindle motor part and mechanical part. In mechanical part the variation of the frictional force due to the increment of the cutting torque and the effect of damping coefficient is investigated. Damping coefficient is found to be a function of spindle speed and not influenced by the weight of the load, while frictional force is a function of both the cutting torque and spindle speed. Experimental formulars are drawn for damping coefficient as a function of spindle speed and frictional force as a function of both cutting torque and spindle speed respectively, to estimate the cutting torque accurately. Graphical programming is used to implement the suggested algorithm, to monitor the torque of an induction motor in real time. Torque of the spindle induction motor is well monitored with 3% error range under various cutting conditions.

In any rapid prototyping process, the layer by layer building process introduces an area error between the staircase and the surface line specified by the computer-aided design model. This affects the dimensional accuracy as well as the surface finish for different part build orientations. This paper describes a methodology for computing the area error for any orientation of the part built by the fused deposition modelling system. This technique can be applied to determine the best build orientation of the part, based on the minimum area error. This technique is verified by comparing the results with the experimental measurements of the area error of the parts built at different orientations.

This paper dealt with FMEA, which is a method of the analysis to secure safety and confidence coming up to customers'expectation in consideration of the environment of the corporation, the industrial environment, and the functional improvement. And by using FMEA, We showed the example analyzed the confidence of the Air Supply System. It was proved by the result of the analysis that the rate of the breakdown which is usually regarded as the first important point to reform can't satisfy the selecting basis to improve. Also the result said that it is not right to depend on only the rate of the failure in making the list of the reform. Through the analysis of the breakdown, FMEA can present the important factors of the reform to improve the confidence of the system. In this study would show the important factors of the improvement in order to product the goods guaranteed confidence through the method of FMEA.

The development of feed drive system with high speed and accuracy has been a major issue in the machine tool industry. Linear motors can be used as the efficient tool to achieve fast feed mechanism and high accuracy. However. a high speed feed drive system with linear motors can generate heat problems such as the variation of temperature distribution and the resultant thermal stress. In this paper, the important heat sources and the resultant thermal errors are presented. The thermal deformation characteristics of the machine tool with linear motors were identified, which are thermal expansion of linear scale, shrinkage, expansion and bending in the machine tool structure.

In the face of global competition, the requirements fer the continuously increasing productivity, flexibility and quality (dimensional accuracy, mechanical properties and surface properties) have imposed a major change on steel manufacturing industries. The automation of hot rolling process requires the developments of several mathematical models for simulation and quantitative description of the industrial operations involved. To achieve this objectives, a new loaming method with neural network to improve the accuracy of rolling force prediction in hot rolling mill is developed. Also, Genetic Algorithm(GA) is applied to select the optimal structure of the neural network and compared with that of engineers experience. It is shown from this research that both structure selection methods can lead to similar results.

There are many factors in machine tool error. These are thermal deformation, geometric error, machine's part assembly error, error caused by tool bending. Among them thermal error is 70% of total error of machine tool . Prediction of thermal error is very difficult. because of nonlinear tendency of machine tool deformation. In this study, we tried thermal error prediction by using multi regression analysis.

Brake tube is considered one of the most important parts in automobile. The shape of brake tube-end has a great influence on the function of brake, and the quality and productivity of brake tube have relation to die design. The forming process of brake tube-end is peformed by hydraulic press forming machine. In this paper, the forming processes of tube-end for automobile is analyzed and designed to make the optimal form of brake tube-end. Also, finite element analysis has been carried out using DEFORM-3D
$\^$ TM/ to predict the optimal shape of brake tube-end and the results obtained showed the optimal length between punch and chuck is 1.0 ∼ 1.2mm. The shape of tube-end is in good agreement with the finite element simulations and the experimental results. -
This study has performed rotary bending fatigue testing that smooth specimen using SM45C materials and notched specimen whose radii were R6, R4 and R2, were processed in 3% NaCl aqueous solutions or in the air. The results are as followed; 1. In the air fatigue limit at 10
$^{7}$ cycles remarkably reduced as notch radius goes small. 2. In 3% NaCl aqueous solution fatigue strength at 10$^{6}$ cycles also had large range of reduction as notch radius goes small. 3. Comparing fatigue strength in the air, fatigue strength at 10$^{6}$ cycles in 3% NaCl aqueous solution reduced by 46.2% at smooth specimen, 55.3% at R6 notch radius, 45.8% at R4 and 39.7% at R2 respectively. 4. The reason that fatigue strength reduced in the reduction of notch radius sire was because the surface of notch exposed in corrosion was small and consequently it was less corroded. -
It is an object of this research to develop a fine friction tester capable of analyzing a friction characteristics of a small size specimens in a load range of 0.03 ∼ 2.0 N. According to the test results using the developed precision friction tester, it is expected to get the experimental data with fine resolution and high reliability.

This study is object to structural analysis of high pressure injection nozzle. The finite element model was developed to compute the stress, strain for high pressure injection nozzle. For structural analysis using result from FEM code. This structural analysis results, many variables such as internal pressure, boundary condition, constraint condition and load condition are considered.

A hydraulic Excavator is applied for outdoor tasks in construction, agriculture and undersea etc. When a hydraulic Excavator works crane function tasks, most of disasters happen. In this study, In order to preventing these disasters, the safety equipment algorithm for crane working is developed, and the safety equipment algorithm for crane working is being developed. The proposed control algorithm(Zero Moment Point) is designed to avoid overload. The hydraulic excavator for crane function must work within a maximum limit of load. To accurately detect a working load, pressure sensors of boom, arm cylinder, and angle sensors of boom, arm and bucket joint are used.

In this study, researchers developed the est algorithm for artificial defects in the semic packages and performed to it by pattern recogn technology. For this purpose, this algorithm was I that researcher made software with matlab. The so consists of some procedures including ultrasonic acquistion, equalization filtering, self-organizing backpropagation neural network. self-organizing ma backpropagation neural network are belong to metho neural networks. And the pattern recognition tech has applied to classify three kinds of detective pa semiconductor packages. that is, crack, delaminat normal. According to the results, it was found estimative algorithm was provided the recognition r 75.7%( for crack) and 83.4%( for delamination) 87.2 % ( for normal).

This paper used the Laser Speckle Interferometry to present the strain analysis of Nd:YAG Laser welding zone. Previous TIG welding to sheet plate, which welds only high-skilled engineer, produces residual stress nearby welding zone due to thermal effect. However, Laser welding makes sheet pate welding easy and thermal effect minimum. Thermal effect zone is measured by strain analysis of the laser-welding zone by ESPI under tensile testing of sheet plate welded by Nd:YAG laser. The ESPI results, which compared with strain gage method, are agreed within error 3 %.

In this paper, Compression in the case where dissimilar blocks are twinned variously are carried out in the condition of lubricated interface. The degree of growth is experimentally investigated. Moreover, numerical simulations are carried out by the elastic-plastic FEM for the case of the dissimilar blocks with the initial sawtooth angle of 60。. The dissimilar blocks are twinned, larger difference between material properties leads smaller growth, and the degreased interface leads smaller growth than that in the lubricated one. Furthermore, by the simulation of compression where dissimilar blocks are twinned, it is confirmed that the tendency of the general deformation pattern is very similar to the experiment.

Therefore, we constructed a monitoring system using neural network in order to monitor of the cutting trouble. A field test was peformed to estimate the thermal performance of the forced convection electric air heater by the experiment. Air temperature, flow rate and electrical power input were measured with the related measurement sensors, and acquisition methods for the measured data were studied to effectively estimate the thermal performance of the tested air heater. To determine the mean air temperature at the flow cross-section, measuring positions were chosen by considering the flow velocity profile and the equally divided cross-sectional area. From the experimental results, thermal efficiency is obtained as an indication of the tested electric air heater performance.

In this study, the prediction on the quality of tools after coating process has been investigated. Under different coating conditions, cutting resistances have been obtained and analyzed with a tool dynamometer to provide optimized coating conditions. The optimized coating condition has been computed with the most effective factors found by S/N ratio of Taguchi method. To evaluate the influence of the factors on cutting efficiency through the minimum of number of experiment times, the way of neural network design using Taguchi method has been employed.

Electrical discharge machining uses thermal energy from electrical discharge, while wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) technology is widely used in conductive material machining. This paper proposes a method for evaluating the characteristics of wires in WEDM. In order to evaluate the wire processing performance, processing speed and roughness, straightness, corner processing have been assessed with precision experiment equipment and image processing including Laplacian filtering with various threshold levels.

The machining parameters for the wire electrical discharge machining(WEDM), including no load voltage, pulse-on time, pulse-off time, wire tension, water flow rata offset etc. should be chosen properly so that a better performance can be obtained An optimum selection of machining parameters relies heavily on the operators technologies and experience. This study presents a method by means of Taguchi method to select optimal machining parameter combination for an cutting speed or surface roughness. Experimental results demonstrate that the machining models are appropriate and the derived machining parameters satisfy the real requirements in notice.

Studies on the optimization of machining process can be divided into two different approaches: off-line feedrate scheduling and adaptive control. Each approach possesses its respective strong and weak points compared to each other. That is, each system can be complementary to the other. In this regard, a combined system, which is a feedrate control system for cutting force optimization, was proposed in this paper to make the best of each approach. Experimental results show that the proposed system could overcome the weak points of two systems.

Real-time monitoring and control of the cutting force is essential for unmanned cutting process. Although the cutting force can be measured directly using tool dynamometers, their implementation is not feasible in industry due to high cost. Alternative approach is the cutting force estimation based on spindle drive models, but it requires the knowledge of their characteristics with the spindle speed variation. This paper investigates the power-factor and frictional characteristics of three-phase induction motors and determines its characteristics below and above the base speed, respectively. In order to realize the proposed cutting force monitoring system, a stand-alone DSP board was utilized. Its monitoring and control performance is evaluated in a CNC lathe.

The mechanism of the aerosol(mist) generation generally consists of spin-off, splash, and evaporation/condensation. Host researchers showed some theoretical model for predicting the particulate size and generation rate without real cutting in turning operation. These models were based on the spin-off mechanism, and verified good for modeling the process. However, in real machining, the cutting tool destroys the flow direction of the cutting fluid and generate the heat by the relative motion of between tool and workpicee, and so the mass loading of the mist is greatly increased as compared with non-cutting. In this paper, we show some experimental data that the mist formation characteristics of cutting is different from that of non-cutting.

본 연구에서는 선반가공에서 일반적인 선반작업 후 밀링이나 드릴링 가공이 가능한 복합가공기의 역할을 한번에 수행할 수 있는 CNC 공구터렛의 홀더 주축에 대한 수학적 모델링을 통하여 시스템의 횡진동 및 비틀림 진동 해석으로 발생할 수 있는 진동 문제에 대처할 수 있는 방안을 제시 하고자 한다.

This paper presents a multiple sensor system for rapid and high-precision coordinate data acquisition in the OMM (On-machine measurement) process. In this research, three sensors (touch probe, laser, and vision sensor) are integrated to obtain more accurate measuring results. The touch-type probe has high accuracy, but is time-consuming. Vision sensor can acquire many point data rapidly over a spatial range but its accuracy is less than other sensors. Also, it is not possible to acquire data for invisible areas. Laser sensor has medium accuracy and measuring speed among the sensors, and can acquire data for sharp or rounded edge and the features with very small holes and/or grooves. However, it has range- constraints to use because of its system structure. In this research, a new optimum sensor integration method for OMM is proposed by integrating the multiple-sensor to accomplish mote effective inspection planning. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, simulation and experimental works are performed, and the results are analyzed.

Recently, LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is the display product widely used on various fields of industry. This is generally composed of many parts. Among many parts, polarizer film control the intensity of the transmitted light according to the degree of rotation of the polarizer axis. Therefore, this film must be free from defects. But it contains many defects such as the defects caused by dust or different thing, adhesive badness, scratch. Presently, the inspection of these defects is depending on the sight of operator. In this paper, we propose the vision system composed of telecentric lens and optical mirror. This system use the coaxial illumination and the light is specularly reflected on the optical mirror. And we develop the image processing algorithm using the threshold and morphological technique.

The object of this study is to investigate the effect of compounded welding through the AE (Acoustic Emission) characteristics on static tensile test. This study was carried out a SM 490A, high tension steel using the low hydrogen type E4316 of electronic shield metal arc welding and compound wire of
$CO_2$ gas arc welding.$CO_2$ welding, weak in the intensity of HAZ (Heat Affected Zone), can be improved by being combined with coated arc welding, Coated arc welding, weak in the intensity of the bead, can be improved by being combined with$CO_2$ welding. Especially, electronic coated arc welding and$CO_2$ welding complement the mechanical intensity of HAZ and the bead with each other. So, compounded welding increases the intensity in the special parts and enhances the quality of goods. -
In metal cutting, Chatter is an unstable cutting phenomenon which is due to the interaction of the dynamics of the chip removal process and the structural dynamics of machine tool. when vibration and chatter occurs, it reduces tool life, results in poor surface roughness and low productivity of the machining process. In this study, the experiments were conducted in CNC lathe without cutting fluid to investigated phenomenon of the chatter, In the experiments, accelerometers were set up at the tail stock and tool holder and the signals were picked up. In order to observe the effect of chatter on the surface roughness profiles, in this paper, surface roughness profiles will be generated under the ideal condition and the occurrence of the chatter based on the surface simulation model.

In recent days the more use of CFRP composite is in the airplane, automobile, and sport goods, etc., the more necessity of research on it in this engineering. In this research, the CFRP composite specimen are fabricated by 48 CFRP plies with 6 stacking sequences, and the specimens are drilled with 4 tools. The results are analyzed with consideration of cutting force, type of tools and fabrication condition. The specimens with each drilling conditions are also investigated with SEM. The optimal drilling conditions such as drill types and cutting force with respect to the fabricating condition are studied.

In the CNC gas cutting of steel plate, the cutting quality are strongly dependent on the various cutting conditions. The cutting tests of high tensile steel plate(AH36) were carried out using CNC gas cutting machine at various cutting conditions such as cutting speed, steel plate thickness, distance between tip and specimen etc. The kerf width and the surface roughness of cutting surfaces are examined. The photographs of cutting surface and cutting section are also analyzed.

In this study, examined the cutting characteristics of alumuminum alloy AC8A-T6 that is used to present car piston materials. And in been holding materials machining empirically escape as result that experiment comparison changing the cutting speed and feed on various condition to choose efficient machining condition. The following results can be summarized from this research. 1. As the cutting speed decreased, principal cutting force and thrust cutting force is increased, and reason that cutting force interacts greatly in the low cutting speed is thought by result by BUE's stabilization. 2. The feed speed and cutting speed increase, friction factor is decrescent and the cause appeared the thrust cutting force is fallen than cutting force relatively because chip flow according to increase of the feed rate is constraint. 3. Though specific cutting resistance grows cutting area and the feed rate are few, the cause was expose that shear angle decreases by rake face of tool gets into negative angle remarkably as wear of a cutting tool or defect part of workpiece is cut. 4. Cutting speed do greatly depth of cut is slow, surface roughness examined closely through an experiment that becomes bad, and know that it can get good surface that process cutting speed because do feed rate by 0.1mm/rev low more than 250m/min to get good surface roughness can.

In this paper, stability of ultra precisio unit is analyzed, this unit is the kernel unit precision processing machine. According alteration of shape and material about stability investigation is performed. Through this stability investigation, trial is reduced in design and manufacture, at the time, we are accumulated foundation data for control.

This paper deals with turning experiments of aluminium alloy using a single crystal diamond with round cutting edge. A face cutting was conducted using a special precision machine to study the characteristic phenomena in heavy cutting of aluminium alloy. In many cases, one of the most important matter on the surface integrity is about a damaged layer remaining just under the surface after machining. A machined surface roughness can be improved at a small geometrical surface roughness under special cutting conditions, even if a steady vibration exists between a tool and a workpiece.

This study proposed the analysis of mass position detection due to the change of the mass and stiffness of structure by using the original and modified dynamic characteristics. The method is applied to examples of a cantilever and 3 degree of freedom by modifying the mass. The predicted detection of mass positions and magnitudes are in good agreement with these from the structural reanalysis using the modified mass.

In recent years, precision positioning stage is demanded for some industrial fields such as semi-conductor lithography, ultra precision machining, and fabricating of nano structure. In this research, precision multi-axis positioning stage, which consists of pzt actuator, flexure, and capacitance gauge, is designed and developed. The performance of 3-axis positioning, characteristics of motion and resolution are verified.

This paper aims to derive a mathematical model of the dynamics of handling tasks in robot finger which stable grasping and manipulates a rigid object with some dexterity. Firstly, a set of differential equation describing dynamics of the manipulators and object together with geometric constraint of tight area-contacts is formulated by Lagrange's equation. Secondly, problems of controlling both the internal force and the rotation angle of the grasped object under the constraints of area-contacts of tight area-contacts are discussed. The effect of geometric constraints of area-contacts on motion of the overall system is analyzed and a method of computer simulation for overall system of differential-algebraic equations is presented. Thirdly, simulation results are shown and the effects of geometric constraints of area-contact is discussed. Finally, it is shown that even in the simplest case of dual single D.O.F manipulators there exists a sensory feedback from sensing data of the rotational angle of the object to command inputs to joint actuators and this feedback connection from sensing to action eventually realizes secure grasping of the object, provided that the object is of rectangular shape and motion is confined to a horizontal plane.

Machine of textiles let off is equipment supplying constantly fabrics. Nowdays, as it is replaced band - brake type with hydraulic motor driven type, we looked into characteristic of hydraulic solenoid pilot direction valve(SPDV) for controlling acceleration performance of hydraulic motor. This study deals with controlling the initial speed of textiles let off machine. Finally, to control the initial speed of hydraulic motor, we controlled the adjustment screw of SPDV by a hand. Test which was carried out in the laboratory shows that initial speed of textiles let off could be improved by controlling adjustment screw of SPDV. Also, the results of experiment work were compared with dynamic characteristic of other on/off solenoid direction valve(SDV).

This thesis is to introduce development process and application for domestic production of Automation System for High Density and Perpendicular Storage used in the industrial field. Most of the traditional Automation Systems for High Density and Perpendicular Storage are imported and using in the industrial field. As a result of this condition, foreign competitive power is decreased cause increasing of production cost. In spite of economical burden to protect a loss with management in the case of the industrial field dealing with various products, imported Automation System for High Density and Perpendicular Storage is used. On this developed Automation System for High Density and Perpendicular Storage solved these problems. Developed system uses managing computer, it is easy to manipulate input and output of production and inventory management. Moreover, Developed system accomplished shortened driving time and mechanical safety.

This paper presents a new approach to the design of cruise control system of a mobile robot with two drive wheel. The proposed control scheme uses a Gaussian function as a unit function in the fuzzy neural network, and back propagation algorithm to train the fuzzy neural network controller in the framework of the specialized learning architecture. It is proposed a learning controller consisting of two neural network-fuzzy based on independent reasoning and a connection net with fixed weights to simply the neural networks-fuzzy. The performance of the proposed controller is shown by performing the computer simulation for trajectory tracking of the speed and azimuth of a mobile robot driven by two independent wheels.

In this paper, a self-organizing fuzzy controller(SOFC) for the industrial robot manipulator with a actuator located at the base is studied. A fuzzy login composed of linguistic conditional statements is employed by defining the relations of input-output variable of the controller, In the synthesis of a FLC, one of the most difficult problems is the determination of linguistic control rules from the human operators. To overcome this difficult SOFC is proposed for a hierarchical control structure consisting of basic level and high level that modify control rules. The proposed SOFC scheme is simple in structure, fast in computation, and suitable for implementation of real-time control. Performance of the SOFC is illustrated by simulation and experimental results for robot with tow joints.

We developed a Off-Line Graphic Simulator which can simulate a robot model in 3D graphics space in Windows 98 version. 4 axes industrial robot was adopted as an objective model. Forward kinematics, inverse kinematics and robot dynamics modeling were included in the developed program. The interface between users and the off-line program system in the Windows 98's graphic user interface environment was also studied. The developing language is Microsoft Visual C++. Graphic libraries, OpenGL, by Silicon Graphics, Inc. were utilized for 3D graphics.

In this paper, it is presented a new scheme of adaptive-neuro control system to implement real-time control of robot manipulator. Unlike the well-established theory for the adaptive control of linear systems, there exists relatively little general theory for the adaptive control of nonlinear systems. Adaptive control technique is essential for providing a stable and robust performance for application of robot control. The proposed neuro control algorithm is one of learning a model based error back-propagation scheme using Lyapunov stability analysis method. Through simulation, the proposed adaptive-neuro control scheme is proved to be a efficient control technique for real-time control of robot system using DSPs.

Impact behavior of polycarbonate in various defect state was investigated using an instrumented impact fester. A mettled of analyzing raw impact data was developed and successfully demonstrated the impact behavior in terms of load-displacement and energy-displacement curves. This technique was shown to be capable of separating defect, no-defect initiated fractures as well as their propagation behaviors.

$\mu\textrm{m}$ . This paper describes the performance of powder blasting technique in micromachining of pyrex for the accelerometer sensor and the effect of the number of nozzle scanning and the stand-off distance on the erosion depth. -
In this paper, the development process of an unique and creative micro/nano-structure fabrication technique based on micro/nano-tribology are reviewed and discussed. The so-called Mechano-Chemical Process(MCP), which has been developed since 1995 by Tribology Research Laboratory at Yonsei University with the motivation to overcome the demerits of the conventional photolithographic techniques, is based on the fundamental understanding of the interaction between the tool tip and the workpiece surface. This process is a maskless process which offers tremendous flexibility in surface patterns that can be created on a workpiece surface without using any capital intensive equipment. It Is capable of fabricating the prototypes of micro/nano-components, micro- structured surface with various geometries, micro-molds for making polymer or metal parts, and micro-fluidic channels for lab-on-a- chip

Copy machines have been used in the 3 dimensional shape machining like the non-sphere surface. This study is intended to show the possibility of manufacturing of a non-sphere shape without a exclusive CAM(Computer Aided Manufacturing) software in the process of metallic mold. It has been examined under the two types of working conditions. One is a cutting by manual programming and the other is a cutting by a general-purpose CAM software. Two kinds of output data were compared and analyzed, and data by a manual program were discovered more accurate than those of a general-purpose CAM software. In this study, I came to a conclusion it is possible to manufacture a 3 dimensional shape without a exclusive CAM software.

We present the analysis and design of a new six degree-of-freedom parallel mechanism, Eclipse-II, which can be used as a basis for general motion simulators. This mechanism allows x, y and z-axis translations and a, b and c-axis rotations. Most significantly, it presents the advantage of enabling continuous 360 degrees spinning of the platform. We first describe the computational procedures for the forward and in inverse kinematics of the Eclipse-II. Next, the complete singularity analysis is presented for the two cases of end-effector and actuator singularities. Two additional actuators are added to the original mechanism to eliminate both types of singularities with in the workspace. Some practical aspects of the prototype development are introduced.

In the present investigation, the improvement of processing efficiency in the high speed machining of GC250 is explored. This study is to evaluate the tool performance in difficult-to-material using the new developed tool. Tool performance evaluation are conducted by tool wear, surface roughness, chattering in machined surface. The tool wear of A type was smaller than B type. In type B tool the chatter mark was observed in machined surface. The good surface roughness was obtained in type A tool. Consequently, the tool performance of A type is better than B type.

High-speed machining generates concenter thermal/frictional damage at the cutting ed rapidly decreases the tool life. This paper I at determining the effect of cutter orienter the cutting environment on tool life, tool mechanism when down milling. In this paper, experiments were carried out in various tool and cutting environments, such as dry, wet compressed chilled air, tool life were measu evaluate machinability in high-speed milli difficult-to-cut material and die steel, Tool measured in horizontal upwards, horiz downwards, vertical upwards and vert downwards. In addition, tool life was measur dry, wet and compressed chilled air. For this a compressed chi1led-air system was manufact The results show that a horizontal cutter ori provided a longer tool life than a vertical orientation. With respect to the cutting envi compressed chilled air increased tool life. H the wet condition decreased tool life due thermal shock caused by excessive cooling high-speed mill ins and the compressed chilled had little effect.

In order to investigate the characteristics of grinding and diamond wheel grinding ceramic materials, grinding resistance, surface roughness of worked surface and image of grinding wheel were acquired using experimental method. Through the experiments, this makes it possible to observe grinding wheel behavior by grinding resistance, surface roughness and cutting edge ratio. In case of A1
$_2$ O$_3$ , cutting edge ratio is begger than that of ZrO$_2$ and Si$_3$ N$_4$ . That's because A1$_2$ O$_3$ has a characteristics of low fracture toughness and bending stress. -
Several types of burrs form on the edges of all machined and stamped parts. These burrs must be removed to prevent interference fits or short circuits, to improve fatigue life or to prevent injury. Despite the full or partial automation of FMC or FMS, deburring operations to obtain workpiece with fine surface quality are difficult to be automated since the occurrence and condition of burr are not constant. This study focused on developing micro-deburring technique for small electro- parts produced by press process. The successful performance was demonstrated by deburring experiment using the powder blasting.

High-speed machining is one of the most effective technology to improve productivity. Because of the high speed and high feed rate, high-speed machining can give great advantages for the machining of dies and molds. This paper describes on the improvement of machining accuracy in high-speed machining. Depth of cut, feed rate, spindle revolution and cutting force are control factors. The effect of the control factors on machining accuracy is discussed for the results of surface roughness and machining error in Z-direction for the high speed machining of STD11.

The shot peening process is most often used to improve fatigue properties of metal parts. In order to achieve optimum, repeatable and reliable fatigue enhancement from the shot peening process, the important shot peening parameters must be controlled. In this paper, the optimum shot peening condition is investigated. Rotate bending fatigue test was accomplished to investigate the effects of shot peening on the fatigue strength. Experimental results show that the fatigue strength was tremendously increased by optimum peening condition. But the fatigue strength was decreased by under peening or over peening.

The production part requiring multiple processes such as piecing, blanking and notching are performed with a high production rates in progressive die. In order to prevent the defects of process result, the optimum of strip process layout design, die design, die making, and tryout with inspection etc. are needed. According to these factors of die development process, they required theory and practice of metal working process and its background, die structure, machining conditions for die making, die materials, heat treatment of die components, know-how and so on. In this study, we designed and analyzed die components also simulated the strip process layout of multiple stage drawing by DEFORM. Especially the result of tryout and its analysis become to the feature of this study.

The Cut off-type progressive die for U-bending production part is a very specific division. This study reveals the sheet metal forming process with multi-forming die by Center Carrier type feeding system. Through the FEM simulation by DEFORM, it was accepted to u-bending process as the first performance to design of strip process layout. The next process of die development was studied according to sequence of die development, i.e. die structure, machining condition for die making, die materials, heat treatment of die components, know-how and so on. The feature of this study is the die development of scrapless progressive die of multi-stage through the Modeling on the I-DEAS program, components drawing on the Auto-Lisp, CAD/CAM application, ordinary machine tool operating and revision by tryout.

A feature-based inspection planning system is proposed in this research to develop more efficient measuring methodology for the OMM (On-machine measurement) for complicated workpiece having many primitive form features. This paper focuses on the development of the CAIP (computer-aided inspection system) methodologies. The optimum inspection sequences for the features are determined by analyzing the feature information such as the nested relations and the possible probe approaching directions of the features, and forming feature groups. A series of heuristic rules are developed to accomplish it. Also, each feature is decomposed into its constituent geometric elements, and then the number of sampling points, the locations of the measuring point, the optimum probing path are determined by applying the fuzzy logic, Hammersley's method, and the TSP algorithm. To verify the proposed methodologies, simulations are carried out and the results are analyzed.

In engineering design environment it is hard to link design data and system because the types of them are disparate. Therefore, the importance of metadata has increased. Some researches have been executed to develop metadata. But they cannot interact with other metadata and are difficult to extend. The purpose of this paper is to develop a common metadata structure which represents the general information of mechanical part assembly using XML, and to use it as base documents in order to integrate design data and systems. It is composed of part and assembly documents. Part document represents the information of a part independently to part type. Assembly document represents the location of part documents which compose an assembly. Common documents can be used as a broker between design data and systems and improve interpretability and reusability of document. We applied the developed common document structure to 2-stage spur gear drive.

The first method is frequency response of speed loop with design parameter by use of MATLAB application, in order that other axis can do equal to bandwidth. Recently, the interest on micro optical parts has increased rapidly with the development of technology related to microsystems. Among the optical parts, micro lens is one of the most broadly used micro parts. To mass-produce the micro lenses, it is very effective to use the mold insert and injection molding process. There are many methods to fabricate the mold insert for micro lenses: electroforming, etching, mechanical micromachining and so on. In this study, we fabricated the mold insert for micro lenses using a micro ball endmill to apply mechanical micromaching method and analyzed the effect of main process parameters such as spindle speed, feed rate, dwell time on the processed surface. Then, using fabricated the mold insert we fabricated the micro lenses through injection molding process.

Recently, The machine tools have been needed for high speed and accuracy to increase productivity. The most important thing to get a more stabilized machine is to know the frequncy response which has an effect on manufacture a lot. This problem should be considered seriously by many researchers. There are many programs about FEM. but just using FEM program to get information of the object is not enough to put our confidence in the stability of the structure design. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to make a study for proving one of the ways to design to produce stabilized a machine more efficiently by comparing FRT with Simulation through FEM. At this two tests, we can learn about the frequency response area causing resonance and we can reconfirm the result to trust.

It is very important to measure linear cycle plane positioning accuracy of NC lathes as they affect those of all other machines machined by them in industries. For example, if the linear cycle plane positioning accuracy of each axes directions is bad, the accuracy of works will be wrong and the change-ability will be bad in the assembly of machine parts. In this paper, computer software systems are organized to measure linear displacements of ATC(Automatic tool changer) of NC lathes using linear scale and time pulses comming out from computer in order to get data at constant time intervals from the sensors. And each sets of error data gotten from the test is expressed to plots by computer treatment and the results of linear cycle plane positioning error motion estimated to numerics by statistical treatments.

An efficient method of machining impeller is presented. In the roughing process, the cutting area is divided into two regions to reduce cutting time and select cutting tools. The regions are determined by characteristic point on the geometry of impeller blade. Then, the tool of the maximum radius is selected in each area. Tool interference in cutting areas is avoided by checking the intersection between cooing tool axis and ruling line on blade surface.

Linear motor food system control algorithm was extended to the two axis system. Among several factors considered, overshoot of the response was the most important one in minimizing position tracking error. Balance between overshoot and settling time has to be adjusted to guarantee to best tracking performance. Tracking route was carefully executed to eliminate the possible error during the machining process. Even though there exists slight discrepancy between desired mute and cutting track at the corner, precision machining could be implemented using the cutting scheme introduced.

In a high speed spindle system, it is very important to monitor the state of rotating rotor. Particularly in active control spindle system, the position sensor must provide feedback to the control system on the exact position of the rotor. In order to monitor the state of a high speed spindle exactly, high accuracy and wide frequency bandwidth of sensors are important. The focus in this paper is to make a fiber optic sensor for monitoring rotor of magnetic bearing, to design the circuit for detecting optical signal, and to evaluation static and dynamic characteristics of fiber optic sensor.

One of the major limitations of productivity and quality in metal cutting is the machining accuracy of machine tools. The machining accuracy is affected by geometric errors, thermally-induced errors, and the deterioration of the machine tools. Geometric and thermal errors of machine tools should be measured and compensated to manufacture high quality products. In metal cutting, the machining accuracy is more affected by thermal errors than by geometric errors. In this study, the compensation device and temperature-based algorithm have been implemented on the machining center in order to compensate thermal error of machine tools under the real-time. The thermal errors are predicted using the neural network and multi-regression modeling methods. In order to compensate thermal characteristics under several operating conditions, experiments performed with five gap sensors and manufactured compensation device on the horizontal machining center.

Due to various advantages over the conventional linear motion device such as ball-screw, linear motors have been used in wide variety of industrial applications for years. Driven by increased demand for precision machine tools, the importance of high positioning accuracy, high stiffness and high thrust are greatly increasing. The merits of linear motor are high speed, high acceleration and good positioning accurcy. In addition, Linear motor for high quality machine tool call for high thrust, high stiffness. In this paper, thrust ripple, detent force and thermal behavior are considered for the development of high performance linear motor whose thrust is up to 4,000N. This paper presents a comprehensive study for an iron core type linear motor characteristics that include the influence of PM position on thrust, thrust ripple by detent force and motor dynamics as well.

In order to manufacture a precision mold/die by machining, users need high speed & precision mold/die machining center. So, for development of this machine, we intend to use linear motor that is instead of ball-screw, servo-motor and coupling, high-speed spindle of pressurized air journal bearing and composite materials. In this paper we research column moving type and table moving type. The former is mainly piling 3 axes on one moving body, the latter is consist of two independent carriages. Both types are available to high speed & precision machine, but we finally draw a conclusion column moving type due to an advantage of high-speed control of linear motor.

In view of reliability assessment, the failure mode analysis by performance tests for machine tools is researched in this study. First, the error analysis with circular movement test data is studied. The various errors and their origins are analyzed by the error equations and then related parts and failure modes are investigated. Second, This paper deals with analysis of vibration testing for machine tools spindle. The various frequency components are classified by fourier transform and order analysis. The simple measuring devices and web-based analysis programs for each test are also developed.

The characteristic equation for regenerative chatter loop including a delay element replaced by a rational function is presented by a linear differential-difference equation, accounting for the dynamics of the AMB controllers, the uncut chip thickness equation and the cutting process as well as the rigid spindle dynamics itself. The chatter stability analysis of a rigid milling spindle suspended by 5-axes active magnetic bearings(AMBs) is also performed to investigate the influences of the damping and stiffness coefficients of AMBs on the chatter free cutting conditions, as they are allowed to vary within the stable region formed by the AMB control gains. Several cutting tests varying the derivative gains of the AMB were performed to investigate the regenerative chatter vibrations, and it was concluded that the theoretical analysis results are in good consistency with the test results.

Nowadays, there are required more speed and accurate machining in order to improve the productivity through the reduction of cutting and non-cutting time. In this study, the high-speed HMC is specially designed to do remote control and high-speed mechanism with 30000rpm, 50000rpm, 40m/min, 100m/min and bridge type structure. Every structural deformation and vibration that is generated from all of factor is analyzed being based on the virtual manufacturing technologies: thermal characteristic analysis, machine-ability, tool wear measuring system, driving characteristic of linear motor and so on. As the application of these results had been consisted of three axes to move slight and rigid finally. Therefore, table errors that are resulted in change of work weight can be removed.

New methods for screw and spline production has been developed recently by Japan and other developed countries in the basis of Rolling Dies work to cut down the production cost. These methods give us high precision of the products. But we in Korea mostly import Dies for manufacturing forming products. It is thought that if we don't develop our own technology for Rolling Dies, we will have to spend much money for importing Forming concerned equipments. In this paper, we designed the rolling dies based on the diameter of material and calculated the proper number of teeth of gear to establish desirable method for Rolling dies. And the result is shown after manufacturing Involute spline with the rolling dies.

This paper presents the methodology for measuring eccentricity of the cylindricaliy machined part using CCS(Cylindrical Capacity Spindle Sensor) signal in the CNC turning process. In order to investigate the relationships between CCS orbits and eccentricities, the initial conditions for various eccentricity state and machining process is applied to the experimental strategy. AS a result, it is considered the linearities of CCS signal and magnitude of eccentricity of machined cylindrical surfaces based on the possibility as a automatic detection apparatus for the CNC lathe.

Aspheric optical lenses and mirrors are widely used in recent. It is more difficult to manufacture and measure the aspherical optics compared to conventional spherical ones. The interferometric optical test is common for the measurement of spherical optical surface. But the application of the interferometry to the measurement of aspheric surface is difficult because it needs a precise null corrector and very careful environmental conditions such as keeping constant temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure and vibrations. To enhance productivity of optics manufacturing on-machine measurement and correction has been developed in this study. For practical applications, robustness of the measurement method to environments is more important. For the purpose an optical OMM(On-Machine Measurement) system has been developed using Shack-Hartmann test which has robustness to the environment. The wavefront has been reconstructed from the measured data using the primary aberration polynomial function by least square fitting. The measured result of the developed only system gives the maximum deviation only in 200 nm from the result measured by a commercial Fizeau interferometer Wyko 6000.

Hydraulic and Dynamic equation of field robot are constructed in this paper. Inputs of system are angle data from each link (boom, arm, bucket, swing) and pressure data from in, out port of each cylinder. Outputs of system are voltage into electo-proportional valve.

In this study, designs of protection fences such as the concrete median barrier and the guardrail were performed. The foreign standard of concrete median barrier was introduced and implemented without modification fitting to domestic vehicles and highway conditions. In a car accident, median barrier doesn't protect vehicles effectively, especially for heavy vehicles such as bus and heavy truck. Guardrail doesn't protect vehicle effectively, either. The purpose of this study is to develop the optimal performance design of concrete median barrier and design of guardrail using the design of experiment as well as crashworthiness analysis which is done by Pam-Crash. As a result of this study, an optimal design of concrete median barrier was obtained considering von Mises stress, volume and COG acceleration of truck. And design of guardrail satisfying the domestic requirements was obtained.

In the part industry, pipe has required high accuracy in surface roughness and size. Especially, when producing the high frequency welding pipe, cutting process is very important as the finishing process that remove the hot welding bead. The objective of this paper is to investigate the hot machining high frequency welded pipe by simulation and experimental tests. To test the cutting process as hot machining, all cutting environment is reproduced in turning with heating system, and the test is accomplished by comparing with room temperature machining and hot machining in consideration of cutting force, tool wear and cutting temperature.

This paper has studied thermal characteristics of machine tool to develope high speed spindle and optimum design considering the thermal deformation. Comparing the test data of temperature measurement and structural analysis data using FEM, we verified the test validity and predicted thermal deformation, influence of spindle generation of heat, and established cooling system to prevent the thermal deformation. 1) The temperature rise of spindle system depends on increasing number of rotation and shows sudden doubling increment of number of rotation over 7,000rpm. 2) Oil jacket cooling can be effective cooling method below 8,000rpm but, over 8,000rpm, it shows the decrement of cooling effect. 3) Comparing FEM analysis results and revolution test results, we can confirmn approximate temperature change consequently, it is possible to simulate temperature rise and thermal distribution on the inside of spindle system. 4) We can confirm that simulated approach by FEM analysis can be effective mettled in thermal-appropriate design.

Glass fiber reinforced PET (Poly-Ethylene-Terephthalate) matrix composite was manufactured by rapid press consolidation technique as functions of temperature, pressure and time in pre-heating, consolidation and solidification stages. The optimal manufacturing conditions for this composite were discussed based on the void content, tensile, interlaminar shear, and impact properties. A tensile test was attempted to investigate the mechanical properties of the composite. It is found that the level of crystallinity and microstructure affects on the tensile properties substantially.
