Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop a quality assurance model and to determine appropriate warranty period for a guided missile using its field data. Methods: 10 years of actual firing data is collected from the defense industry company and military. Parametric maximum likelihood estimation for a reliability function is determined with the data. Results: The reliability function estimates average lifetime of the missile. That function shows a user requirement, 80% reliability (lifetime) is come up when 8 years have passed, which is longer than the estimates in the missile's development phase. Conclusion: Quality assurance warranty for a guided missile must be established with actual test data. It is necessary to update and modify the reliability prediction and the warranty period with actual field test data.

Purpose: Reliability prediction standards consider environmental conditions, such as temperature, humidity and vibration in order to predict the reliability of the electronics components. There are many types of standards, and each standard has a different failure rate prediction model, and requires different environmental conditions. The purpose of this study is to make a sensitivity analysis by changing the temperature which is one of the environmental conditions. By observing the relation between the temperature and the failure rate, we perform the sensitivity analysis for standards including MIL-HDBK-217F, RiAC-HDBK-217Plus and FIDES. Methods: we establish environmental conditions in accordance with maneuver weapon systems's OMS/MP and mission scenarios then predict the reliability using MIL-HDBK-217F, RiAC-HDBK-217Plus and FIDES through the case of DC-DC Converter. Conclusion: Reliability prediction standards show different sensitivities of their failure rates with respect to the changing temperatures.

Purpose: Accelerated degradation tests can speed time to market and reduce the test time and costs associated with long term reliability tests to verify the required service life of a product or material. This paper proposes a service life prediction method for components or materials using an accelerated degradation tests based on the relationships between temperature and the rate of failure-causing chemical reaction. Methods: The relationship between performance degradation and the rate of a failure-causing chemical reaction is assumed and least square estimation is used to estimate model parameters from the degradation model. Results: Methods of obtaining acceleration factors and predicting service life using the degradation model are presented and a numerical example is provided. Conclusion: Service life prediction of a component or material is possible at an early stage of the degradation test by using the proposed method.

Purpose: The most previous works on designing accelerated life tests (ALTs) are focused on the application of a single stress. Because of the difficulty to obtain the sufficient information in a reasonable duration using single stress only, there is needed in practice to use multiple-stress ALTs frequently. This paper presents new practical plans with two stresses for Weibull distribution. Methods: The four-level practical plans based on rectangle test region are proposed and compared with the corresponding three-level statistically optimal plans. Sensitivity analyses for assumed design parameters and life-stress relationship are conducted. Results: A procedure to choose practical ALT plans is illustrated with a numerical example and guidelines for planning two-stress ALTs are provided. Conclusion: The proposed two-stress ALT plans on practical constraints to assess a quantile of Weibull lifetime distribution at the use condition are efficient and robust.

Purpose: To investigate the corrosion inhibition effect of the natural spearmint oil extracted from Mentha Spicata plants on 304 stainless steel in different concentrations of hydrochloric acid. Method: The anti-corrosive effect has been investigated in 0.5m, 1m and 2m HCl using weight loss test and electrochemical polarization method as a function of inhibitor concentration and immersion time in strong chloride environment. The surface morphology was analysed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results: The corrosion rate of steel decreased and inhibition efficiency increased with the increase in inhibitor concentration. Microscopic evaluation revealed significant corrosion in the specimens immersed in uninhibited conditions. Potentiodynamic polarization test results showed an increase in corrosion potential (Ecorr) and decrease in corrosion current (icorr) value with increasing concentration of inhibitor. Conclusions: Immersion of steel in higher concentration of inhibitor resulted in greater surface coverage value and hence lesser number of surface corrosion sites/pores were formed; thus lowering the corrosion rate.

Purpose: This article provides step-stress accelerated degradation test (ADT) plans based on the Wiener process. Method: Step-stress levels and the stress change times are determined based on the D-optimality criteria to develop test plans. Further, a simple grid search method is provided for obtaining the optimal test plan. Results: Based on the solution procedure, ADT plans which include the stress levels and change times are developed for conducting the reliability test. Conclusion: Optimal step-stress ADT plans are provided for the case where the number of measurements is small.

Purpose: In this paper, we propose a test method for evaluating the life time of the inverter which is one of the main internal configuration systems in order to evaluate the life time of the power supply for the vehicle. Methods: The performance and failure criteria required for the development of the accelerated life test method were established and the Taguchi method was used to derive the stress factors affecting performance and reliability. Results: The major stress of the product degradation were considered to be high temperature. Conclusion: The acceleration factor was estimated through a two-level high temperature test and a test methods was designed to guarantee the accelerated life time of the inverter.

Purpose: In recent years, weight reduction for improving fuel efficiency of the vehicle and cost reduction have been developed. The structure of suspension link is widely used as a single plate press structure which can reduce process and weight compared to existing pipe welding method. However, it was found that the lifetime of a single plate press structure is determined by initial defects that occurred during initial manufacturing rather than fatigue damage caused by driving. Methods: I research the mechanism of failure phenomenon of the single plate press assist arm of rear wheel. In addition, I investigate durability effect parameters to determine the link lifetime in inserting bush into single plate press process through durability test. Conclusion: I discover significant durability effect parameter in inserting bush into single plate press process. It is expected that the durability can be improved by suggesting a bush inserting process inspection guide for similar suspension link like single plate press structure.

Purpose: The RAM objective is a very important factor that has a great effect on the improvement of the operation ration during the operation maintenance and the reduction of the life cycle cost. It is used as a design criterion during the system development, and its sufficiency should be evaluated during its test evaluation. Method: This study analyzed the cases related to RAM objective setting and suggested the improvement measures. Result: The base data for RAM objective is OMS/MP, which needs to be drawn up under the supervision of the requirement military, and a high-accuracy operating availability should be set through ALDT calculation which reflects the military logistics support environment. In addition, data collection necessary for RAM objective and RAM analysis should be made by supplementing the input data of DELIIS. Conclusion: This study suggests improvement of RAM objective considering for the weapon system.

Purpose: The purpose of this research is to study research trend in the field of warranty and maintenance policy of second-hand products. Methods: To this end, we consider research articles, which deal with warranty and maintenance of the second-hand products, published on journals during the past 20 years and classify them by taxonomy scheme proposed by Shafiee and Chukova (2013). The taxonomy scheme consists of three maintenance models in warranty for second-hand product. In each models, we analyze proposed maintenance and warranty policies with respect to types of upgrade models, types of preventive maintenances, decision variables and decision criteria model. Results: We obtain the scheme of maintenance and warranty of the second-hand products and define cost related to warranty and maintenance of the second-hand item. Also, we summarize the characteristics of maintenance and warranty policies in each classified model. Conclusion: There have been several research reviews on maintenance and warranty polity of new products. This research surveys researches of authors during the past 20 years and classifies, summarizes and compares proposed maintenance and warranty policies of the second-hand products. This research provides useful information to researchers who are interested in maintenance and warranty of the second-hand products.

Purpose: In this research, we develop an effectiveness analysis simulation model using Agent Based Modeling with Communication Effects for the development of a new weapon system. Methods: To describe the future battlefield that has more complexity, we develop Agent Based Modeling to describe communication Effects. We use the communication theory (Path-Loss Model) and the real map. Results: We have compared simulation model with real map and simulation model without real map. The Blue Survival Ratio of simulation model with real map is worse than one without real map since the performance of communication gets lower. Conclusion: There are many studies about the effectiveness analysis of a weapon system. Most of previous researches assumed no communication error. In the real world, however, it's not appropriate assumption. Therefore, this study considers the communication error and shows that it is important factor in the effectiveness analysis.
