This paper discusses the service life prediction methods for CFRP bar for concrete reinforcement using accelerated degradation tests. The relationship between performance degradation and the rate of a failure-causing chemical reaction is assumed for the temperature accelerated degradation tests. Methods of obtaining acceleration factors and predicting service life of the CFRP bar using the degradation model are presented.

This paper presents the comparison of climatic environmental tests of IEC Pub. 60068 and MIL-STD-810. Cold, dry heat, change of temperature, and heat-humidity cyclic tests are compared in terms of the types of tests and test severities. This study shows the difference between the standards, which will provide the useful information to the industries and be helpful in applying the standards.

GPS(Global positioning system) system is widely used in artificial satellite, ground controlled approach system as well as in end-user environment such as in the automobile. It is exposed to a very diverse environment and consists of many complicated components and therefore needs careful approach to the enhancement of reliability of the item. In this article reliability standards for the GPS system are established in terms of quality certification tests and failure rate tests.

Reliability tests should be designed to verify whether reliability requirements are satisfied or not effectively and efficiently. The portion of reliability requirements that a reliability test scheme composed of different types of tests can cover is defined as test coverage in software engineering. For the cases of hardwares, to be effective, a reliability test scheme should enhance the test coverage. This study is to develop an evaluation method of test coverage for a reliability test scheme proposed for new products. Case studies are also given.

The power law process model the Rate of occurrence of failures(ROCOF) with monotonic trend during the operating time. However, the power law process is inappropriate when a non-monotonic trend in the failure data is observed. In this paper we deals with the reliability modeling of the failure process of large and complex repairable system whose rate of occurrence of failures shows the non-monotonic trend. We suggest a sectional model and a change-point test based on the Schwarz information criterion(SIC) to describe the non-monotonic trend. Maximum likelihood is also suggested to estimate parameters of sectional model. The suggested methods are applied to field data from an repairable system.

An organic light emitting diode (OLED), also light emitting polymer (LEP) and organic electro luminescence (OEL), is any light emitting diode (LED) whose emissive electroluminescent layer is composed of a film of organic compounds. The layer usually contains a polymer substance that allows suitable organic compounds to be deposited. They are deposited in rows and columns onto a flat carrier by a simple "printing" process. The resulting matrix of pixels can emit light of different colors. Such systems can be used in television screens, computer displays, small, portable system screens such as cell phones and PDAs, advertising, information and indication. OLEDs can also be used in light sources for general space illumination, and large-area light-emitting elements. In this paper, we develop the general guide line of the accelerated life test for assuring B10 life of AMOLED(Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) and PMOLED(Passive Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) which are widely used for display monitor less than 115 mm.

This paper intends to suggest a design to reduce the thermal load of a hand-carried ultrasound (HCU) system, with the aim of increasing the product life. To design ways to reduce the heat load, the surface temperatures of key parts of an HCU system were measured as the 4 system cooling fans, which have a direct relation to the system life, were operated normally. When the derating rate of 80% was applied while the fans of the HCU system were operated abnormally, it was observed that the key image processing parts exceeded the surface temperature (TC) with consideration to derating. Since the part surface temperature did not exceed the derated level when the regulated voltage was derated from 12V to 9V, it is expected to lower the operating voltage of the fans to 9V to increase the fan and HCU system lifetime by 1.8 times.
