It is very important that we create reference templates to recognize speech of speeker-independent as convergence as possible vocal tract variation of each speaker. We used to clustering technique for this and creation rule of reference templates to be cluster centers is key point of thema. In this paper, we created reference tempaltes using the minimax for existance and MMS technique suggested in this study. Also, we created reference template until top 3 and compared to recognition result. When we create 3 reference templates recognition rate is 91.6% for minimax and recognition rate is 95.8% for MMS.

In this paper, A model of 4-legged walking robot is presented by investigating the gait of animals, which can walk with maintaining static stability on irregular terrain. Kinematices of the model robot was analyzed by geometric approach, and a gait control algorithm is proposed for the effective walking on irregular terrain. Terrains are classified into 4 types in order to study the terrain adaptability of the proposed algorithm and it is simulated for each type of terrain.

In this paper, it is tried to improve efficiency of the D-algorithm by assigning the logic values effectively on the nodes related to the critical path for back tracing to reduce the number of search nodes when acyclic combinational logic circuits are composed of NAND gates only. For that purpose, LASAR algorithm which is suitable for determining a critical path for back tracing is applied to the D-algorithm and it is implemented by IBM-PC with APL language. The test results on a number of NAND circuits which have multi-fanout, reconvergent and symetric characteristics show that the modified D-algorihtm reduces the number of search nodes in forward and backward tracing and decreases the run time of CPU about 10 percents.

This paper proposes a code scheduling algorithm which gives a software solution to the pipeline interlock. This algorithm provides a heuristic solution by recordering the instructions, instead of using hardware interlock mechanism when pipeline interlock prevents the execution of a machine instruction in a pipelined architecture. Program code size and overall execution time can be reduced due to the increased flexibility in the selection of instructions, which is possible from the alleviated ordering restriction on the use of conflict resources.

the effect of heat treatment in oxygen ambient on the nucleation and growth of oxidation induced stacking faults(OSF) in n-type(100)silicon wafer has been investigated. The growth of OSF is determind as a function of oxygen concentration in silicon wafer, heat treatment time and temperature, and the activation energy for the growth of OSF can be obtained from the growth kinetics. The activation energies are respectively 2.66 eV for dry oxidation and 2.37 eV for wet oxidation. In this paper, we have also studied the structural feature of OSF with the comparison of optical microscopic morphology and crystalline structure.

We have proposed a new simple and easy method for the observation of OSF growth and shrinkage. This method is to observe the behavior of OSF in thedamaged region during oxidation as well as annealing process after introducing mechanical damage on the silicon surface by pressure-controllable indentor. The effect of SiO2 layer on the shrinkage of pregrown OSF generated by the proposed method has been investigated using the samples with or without SiO2 layer. From the experimental data, we suggest a model for the shrinkage of OSF, which is based on the recombinaiton mechanism between silicon interstitial and vacancy at the Si-SiO2 interface.

The homo and hetero-junction diodes were fabricated using BP-Si structure. After removal of Si substrates, schottky diodes were fabricated on the BP bulk. The electrical properties of the diode were examined through current-voltage characteristics curve. The schottky diode with Sb electrode has a cut-in voltage of 0.33V. This value is almost equal to that of the typical schottky diodes. The breakdown voltage of the schottky diode is 30V. When BP was used for photo cell as a window, the conversion efficiency improved from 6.5% to 8.3%, and optical transmissivity of BP invreased in short wavelength region.

We have studied the hot-carrier-induced degradation caused by the high channel electric field due to the decrease of the gate length of MOSFET used in VLSI. Under DC stress, the condition in which maximum substrate current occures gave the worst degradation. Under AC dynamic stress, other conditions, the pulse shape and the falling rate, gave enormous effects on the degradation phenomena, especially at 77K. Threshold voltage, transconductance, channel conductance and gate current were measured and compared under various stress conditions. The threshold voltage was almost completely recovered by hot-injection stress as a reverse-stress. But, the transconductance was rapidly degraded under hot-hole injection and recovered by sequential hot-electron stress. The Si-SiO2 interface state density was analyzed by a charge pumping technique and the charge pumping current showed the same trend as the threshold voltage shift in degradation process.

Films of Cr, Cu, and Al were deposited by the evaporation technique at the high vacuum level-high evaporation rate and the low vacuum level-low evaporation rate. We measured sheet resistance and light transmittance, and observed microstructure and diffraction pattern by TEM, and investigated oxygen content in thin film by AES. We discussed the relations among microstructure, sheet resistance, and light transmittance with AES data. We found that the films deposited at the high vacuum level-high evaporation rate have small oxygen content in thin film comparing to the films deposited at the low vacuum level-low vacuum level-low evaporation rate, and that the films having crystalline structure and larger grain size were formed in the case of the high vacuum level-high evaporation rate and they showed lower sheet resistance and lower light transmittance.

This paper deals with the teletext systems with processing the Hangul which is compatible with the NABTS. The Hangul set was included in the graphic-set repertory of the 7bit in-use table and the synthesis method was used to process the Hangul codes. The Hangul in the Teletext systems by the NABTS is possible to use DRCS method, but the transmission delay problem has occurred in that case. As a result, all the programs within the NABTS format are possible to use without any modifications in this systems.

This paper proposes new algorithms for the estimation of displacement vector and moving object extraction using difference picture. First, the relations between the boundary of moving objects in two consecutive image and the boundary of difference picture regions are analyzed, then displacement vector estimation algorithm is proposed. Using the estimated displacement vector, moving objects are directly extracted from difference picture. Since the proposed algorithms do not process gray-valued image, they have a short processing time and are suitable to real time processing. From the experimental results, we observed that, if difference picture is wel extracted, the proposecd algorithms work well even in the circumstances of complex background, fast or slow motion, rotation etc., including occlusion where is not moving area.

An 1-bit DPCM image coding method is presented. Our method is specially designed to reduce the slope overload which seems to be the major performance degradation factor in 1-bit DPCM. In the present algorithm, based on the classification of neighborhoods by its flatness, slope strength and direction, predictor and quantizer operate adaptively through switching action. Compared with some other methods by computer simulation, proposed method shows improved performance in image quality as well as in signal to noise ratio. This gain mainly comes from the reduced slope overload and seems large to compensate the increased complexity in prediction. As a post processing, Lee filter is used to reduce the granular noise subjectively annoying in flat region.

In this paper, we analyze the generation of an image pyramid as a 2-dimensional decimation-interpolation process, and suggest a performance index of FIR filter for decimation and interpolation filter. Until now, most deciamtion and interpolation filters are designed via the approximation of the impulse response of an ideal filter. In this paper, however, we propose a new performance index that minimizes the maximum frequency-weighted mean square error between the desired and the generated interpolated signal, and propose an optimal half-band filter based on the proposed performance index as an example. Some simulation results with real images show that the proposed optimal half-band filter yields a higher PSNR as well as the more preferable image quality, in comparison with other currently used filters with the same computational complexity.

For the efficient recognition of Korean alphabets, a new procedure which is applicable for the generation of phase filters with reduced resolution requirements and capable of implementing distortion tolerant pattern recognition is proposd. The performance of these filters and their advantages for Korean alphabets recognition is demonstrated.

In this paper, the implementation of optical parallel boolean logic gates using two Liquid Crystal TVs is described. Based on theory of polarization modulation, two Liquid Crystal TVs are arranged in tandem and parallel to perform optical logic operations. Experimental results of binary image using two Liquid Crystal TVs are presented.

In this paper, we propose two different VLSI architectures for the parallel computation of DCT (discrete cosine transform) algorithm. First, it is shown that the DCT algorithm can be implemented on the existing systolic architecture for the DFT(discrete fourier transform) by introducing some modification. Secondly, a new prime factor DCT algorithm based on the prime factor DFT algorithm is proposed. And it is shown that the proposed algorihtm can be implemented in parallel on the systolic architecture for the prime factor DFT. However, proposed algorithm is only applicable to the data length which can be decomposed into relatively prime and odd numbers. It is also found that the proposed systolic architecture requires less multipliers than the structures implementing FDCT(fast DCT) algorithms directly.
