It is important to predict and measure the combat effectiveness (CE) of weapons system in battlefield for acquiring efficient weapon system. Moreover, quantitative calculation of weapon effectiveness under complicated and uncertain battlefield environment is also difficult based on the future network centric warfare. Many papers used the term of combat effectiveness and tried to study a lot of related issues about it. However, there is no paper dealing with the classification of study issue about CE and what will happen in this study field. In this paper, we proposed how to classify the study issue about CE and forecast future direction of this study field. Conceptually, CE is nothing but the assessment results to measure the ability of a military weapon system to accomplish its objective. We believe that it is an appropriate time to review the literature extensively on CE analysis because the research interests and the papers of CE are rapidly growing in these days. This paper reviewed many CE analysis papers, classified them according to their research content and the research methodology applied. Additionally, a comprehensive list of future research areas is also given.

This paper proposes the 3D modeling and simulation technique for predicting the integrated performance of combat vehicle. To consider the practical driving and firing condition of a combat vehicle, the full vehicle model, which can define the six degrees-of-freedom of vehicle motion and various firing angles, is developed. The critical design parameters such as the stiffness and damping coefficient of suspension system are applied to construct the analysis model of vehicle. A simple ballistic model, which incorporates the empirical interior ballistic model and the point mass trajectory model, is built to estimate the firing range and the firing recoil force. To predict the integrated performance and analyze the effect of system parameters, MATLAB/SIM-ULINK model of a combat vehicle for performing the real time simulation is also developed. Several simulation tests incorporating the road bump and the firing recoil force are presented to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed vehicle model.

In the design of a combat vehicle, various performances such as firepower, mobility and survivability, etc., should be considered. Furthermore, since these performances relate to each other, design framework which can treat an integrated system should be employed to design the combat vehicle. In this paper, we use empirical interior ballistic and 3D combat vehicle analyses for predicting firepower and mobility performances which are developed in previous study (1) integrated performance modeling. In firepower performance, pitch and roll angle by sequential firing are considered. In mobility performance, vertical acceleration after passing through a bump is regarded. However, since there are many design variables such as mass of vehicle, mass of suspension, spring and damping coefficient of suspension and tire, geometric variables of vehicle, etc., for firepower and mobility performance, we utilize analysis of variance and quality function deployment to reduce the number of design variables. Finally, integrated design optimization is carried out for integrated performance such as firepower and mobility.

This paper presents on the development of wheel-terrain interaction device using low-priced sensors, which will be used to predict the drawbar pull and optimal slip of off-road vehicle in real time. The essential variables obtained in the device to predict the mobility of vehicles are determined based on semi-empirical model describing the wheel-terrain interaction. Using the developed device, the experiments about the wheel-terrain interaction were performed on the soil of the Jumunjin standard sand, which yielded dynamic weight, motor driving torque, drawbar pull, and sinkage with respect to wheel slip ratio. Finally, the repeatability of the measured data are verified through repeating the experiments three times on the same condition.

There are many factors that contribute to hit probability of the gun shot of ground combat vehicles. Aiming accuracy is mainly affected by the dynamic state of the vehicle. The stabilization error of the turret under system vibration is one of the major factors that affect the aiming accuracy. The vibration of the vehicle is affected by both the state of the road and the speed of the vehicle. This paper analyzes the aiming accuracy of the gun equipped on the GCV when the vehicle drives on the different roads and at different speed. The vertical displacement and the pitch angle of the gun are calculated and the impact points of the target are calculated. Distribution of the impact points on the target is greatly influenced by the pitch rotation rather than vertical displacement. And this aiming errors result in the errors of point of impacts on the target after the bullet flies through the air under trajectory equations. The GCV is modeled using a half-car model with 6 D.O.F. and the specifications of the M2 machine gun are used in trajectory calculation simulation and the target is located in 1000 m away from the gun.

IFC converters and viewers, applicable in the construction field, are being actively developed while, in the civil engineering field, IFC schemata are being developed. To prove the IFC schema grammatically, the existing ISO 10303 30s' pre-processors and post-processors may be used. However, to visually prove the IFC model, the existing commercial 3D modeling software should be converted into the IFC schema of civil engineering field, and a viewer is needed to view it. Thus, this study developed a IFC converter and viewer prototype system to apply BIM in the road field. To express the road line, LandXML was analyzed, and IFC suitable for expressing shapes in the road field was designed. Also, an IFC suitable for bridges with focus on representative bridge structures such as abuts, piers and decks was designed. Further, a converter was developed using AutoCAD's Civil3D and Revit's 3rdp party tools, and software was also developed designed to combine each converted IFC model into one IFC. In addition, a viewer designed to view IFC in the road field was developed to prove the converted IFC. Eight major verification and examination items were selected and used in testing the converted model, and it was confirmed that the viewer normally viewed the IFC schema in the road field. The proposed IFC converter is expected to be used as a visual IFC verification tool in the road field.

A robotic sapatial augmented reality (RSAR) system, which combines robotic components with projector-based AR technique, is unique in its ability to expand the user interaction area by dynamically changing the position and orientation of a projector-camera unit (PCU). For a moving PCU mounted on a conventional robotic device, we can compute its extrinsic parameters using a robot kinematics method assuming a link and joint geometry is available. In a RSAR system based on user-created robot (UCR), however, it is difficult to calibrate or measure the geometric configuration, which limits to apply a conventional kinematics method. In this paper, we propose a data-driven kinematics control method for a UCR-based RSAR system. The proposed method utilized a pre-sampled data set of camera calibration acquired at sufficient instances of kinematics configurations in fixed joint domains. Then, the sampled set is compactly represented as a set of B-spline surfaces. The proposed method have merits in two folds. First, it does not require any kinematics model such as a link length or joint orientation. Secondly, the computation is simple since it just evaluates a several polynomials rather than relying on Jacobian computation. We describe the proposed method and demonstrates the results for an experimental RSAR system with a PCU on a simple pan-tilt arm.

There are many agendas and discussion subjects for BIM-based Criteria Design phase. At that time, some problems are occurred by software compatibility, simple repetitive tasks, rework caused by missing information etc. In this study, we focus on solving that problems by applying API(Application Programming Interface) method. For effective study, we construct Criteria Design process by using DSM (Dependency Structure Matrix) and study applicability of API. It will be effective for time-consuming task and simply labor-intensive tasks by applying API. we expect improving BIM-based Design Process and Data quality, work productivity without missing information and shapes for using API.

ISO 15926 is an international standard for integration of lifecycle data for process plants including oil and gas facilities. From the viewpoint of information modeling, ISO 15926 Parts 2 provides the general data model that is designed to be used in conjunction with reference data. Reference data are standard instances that represent classes, objects, properties, and templates common to a number of users, process plants, or both. ISO 15926 Parts 4 and 7 provide the initial set of classes, objects, properties and the initial set of templates, respectively. User-defined reference data specific to companies or organizations are defined by inheriting from the initial reference data and the initial set of templates. In order to support the extension of reference data and templates, an editor that provides creation, deletion and modification functions of user-defined reference data is needed. In this study, an editor for reference data based on ISO 15926 was developed. Sample reference data were encoded in OWL (web ontology language) according to the specification of ISO 15926 Part 8. iRINGTools and dot15926Editor were benchmarked for the design of GUI (graphical user interface). Reference data search, creation, modification, and deletion functions were implemented with XML (extensible markup language) DOM (document object model), and SPARQL (SPARQL protocol and RDF query language).

Presented in this paper is a scheduling method for semiconductor backend process considering the backward pegging. It is known that the pegging for frontend is a process of labeling WIP lots for target order which is specified by due date, quantity, and product specifications including customer information. As a result, it gives the release plan to meet the out target considering current WIP. However, the semiconductor backend process includes the multichip package and test operation for the product bin portion. Therefore, backward pegging method for frontend can't give the release plan for backend process in semiconductor. In this paper, we suggest backward pegging method considering the characteristics of multichip package and test operation in backend process. And we describe the backward pegging problem using the examples.

Unlike other weapon systems, a naval vessel has unique characteristics in that the vessel itself is a naval unit. In limited space, compartments with various objectives and characteristics need to be arranged, so that vessel performance is maximized. This paper studied a compartment arrangement algorithm that considers activity relationships among compartments and survivability of a vessel. Based on the study, a compartment arrangement application is developed that can generate various layout alternatives swiftly. The application developed in this study aims at automating a two dimensional compartment layout problem. A combinatorial optimization is performed with the differential evolution algorithm to achieve the optimized layout.

For the proper decision making and responsibility enhancement for an unexpected accident in large-scale facilities, it is important to train operators or first responders to minimize potential human errors and consequences resulted from them. Simulation technologies, including human-computer interaction and virtual reality, enables personnel to participate in simulated hazardous situations with a safe, interactive, repetitive way to perform these training activities. For the development of accident response training simulator, it is necessary to define components comprising the simulator and to integrate them for the given training purpose. In this paper, we analyze requirements of the training simulator, derive key components, and design the training simulator. Based on the design, we developed a prototype training simulator and verified the simulator through experiments.

Most manufacturing enterprises create CAD data as a result of the product/part design process; however, the CAD data is being utilized only for production activities. Besides the processes directly related to manufacturing such as design and production, the CAD data is an important resource that can be used in variety of services (e.g., catalog production and production manuals) for manufacturing enterprises. This study proposes a software platform that can support a wide range of services for manufacturing companies in an efficient and productive way. The software platform was designed based on the functions identified by requirement analysis. The platform consists of four layers: data model layer to manage relevant data; library layer and common function layer to configure services; and application layer to install and run the software. Finally, this study evaluates the validity of the proposed platform architecture by applying it to the digital catalog system.

In this paper, an intuitive emotional expression of the 3D avatar is presented. Using the motion selection control of 3D avatar, an easy-to-use communication which is more intuitive than emoticon is possible. 12 pieces different emotions of avatar are classified as positive emotions such as cheers, impressive, joy, welcoming, fun, pleasure and negative emotions of anger, jealousy, wrath, frustration, sadness, loneliness. The combination of lower body motion is used to represent additional emotions of amusing, joyous, surprise, enthusiasm, glad, excite, sulk, discomfort, irritation, embarrassment, anxiety, sorrow. In order to get the realistic human posture, BVH format of motion capture data are used and the synthesis of BVH file data are implemented by applying the proposed emotional expression rules of the 3D avatar.
