Although elbows are commonly used in practice, many questions regarding the optimum arrangement still remain unanswered. The effect due to an elbow lasts for a considerable distance downstream of the elbow and is severe when two elbows are in the system. The goal of this study is to provide an effective guide for the optimum arrangement of elbows and the optimum design of the approach piping system.

The purpose of this study is to elucidate heat characteristics according to inclination angle of the hot flat plate at the spray cooling. As results of this experiment, the heat flux, the heat transfer coefficient and the cooling speed are increased as the liquid volume flux and subcooled temperature go up. And as the inclination angle of the heat transfer surface is increased, the cooling speed on the inclined flat plate becomes faster. It means that the cooling ability is increased because droplets were excluded by gravity.

This study investigated the condensation heat transfer coefficients of R-22, R-290 and R-600a inside horizontal tube. Heat transfer measurements were peformed for smooth tube with outside diameter of 12.7 mm Condensation temperatures and mass velocity were ranged from 308 K to 323 K and
$51kg/\textrm{m}^2s$ s to$250kg/\textrm{m}^2s$ , respectively. The test results showed that the local condensation heat transfer coefficients increased as the mass flux increased, and also the effects of mass velocity on heat transfer coefficients of R-290 and R-600a were less than R-22. Average condensation heat transfer coefficients of natural refrigerants were superior to that of R-22. The present results had a good agreement with Haraguchi's correlation. -
Springs are widely utilized in machine element. To find out stiffness of frustum-shaped coil spring, the space beam theory using the finite element method is adopted in this paper In three dimensional space, a space frame element is a straight bar of uniform cross section which is capable of resisting axial forces, bending moments about two principal axes in the plane of its cross section and twisting moment about its centroidal axis. The corresponding displacement degrees of freedom are twelve. To find out load vector of coil spring subjected to distributed compression, principle of virtual work is adapted The displacements of nodal points due to small increment of force are calculated by the finite element method and the calculated nodal displacements are added to coordinates of nodal points. The new stiffness matrix of the system using the new coordinates of nodal points is adopted to calculate the another increments of nodal displacements, that is, the step by step method is used in this paper. The results of the finite element method are fairly well agreed with those of various experiments. Using MATLAB program developed in this paper, spring constants and stresses can be predicted by input of few factors.

The heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of R718 flowing in smooth horizontal copper tubes with inner diameter of 3.36 mm, 5.35 mm, 6.54 mm and 8.12 mm were investigated. The test section is a counterflow heat exchanger with refrigerant flowing in the inner tube and water flowing in the annulus. Experiments were peformed for the flowing range of variables : Reynolds number (1000 to 20000), mass flow rate of brine (450 kg/h) and refrigerant temperature (5
$0^{\circ}C$ ). The main results were summarized as follows : (1) The heat transfer coefficient of 3.36 mm ID was about 10% to 30% higher than that of 5.35 mm, 6.54 mm and 8.12 mm ID, and the heat transfer coefficients for small diameter. tubes are about 20% to 27% higher than these predicted by Gnielinski. The new correlation is proposed to predict the experimental data. (2) As a result of comparison with correlation prosed by Blasius. the deviation of the experimental data slightly increased as the tube diameter decreased. (3) The ratio of heat transfer to friction factor (j/f) correlated by all experimental data increased as the tube diameter decreased. -
The effects of various tripping structures on turbulent boundary layer subjected to adverse pressure gradient were examined. The profiles are compared to zero pressure gradient and adverse pressure gradient. The increases of tripping structures of height, k are affects almost flow parameter included velocity fluctuation, skin friction coefficient and turbulent boundary thickness.

To maintain the freshness of produce, because of stand away between produced and consumer, we need refrigeration system that can supply to consumer at cold chain as soon as gathering. General refrigeration system consist of refrigeration chamber or low temperature store. But the vacuum technology can rapidly refrigeration without refrigerator. This precool system possible to get low precooled temperature, suitable for the fishes, the meat, the vegetables, the fruit etc. Especially get advantage that quality maintain through rapid refrigeration of ferment directly generate heat. Vacuum precool system's principle is that water saturated temperature reduce according to pressure is get to vacuum area, so product temperature reduce as water evaporation at product. In vacuum suction, unit, on early experiment period run the rotary type vacuum pump at purpose pressure, then maintain pressure by water-diven ejector. As the results, cabbage took about 60 minutes to reach from
$23.2^{\circ}C$ to$4.5^{\circ}C$ at 5mgHg abs. -
A study on the exhaust emissions of diesel engine with various fuel injection timing is peformed experimentally. In this paper, fuel injection timing is changed from BTDC
$14^{\circ}$ to$20^{\circ}$ by$2^{\circ}$ intervals, the experiments are performed at engine speed 1800rpm and from load 25% to 100% by 25% intervals, and main measured parameters are fuel consumption rate, Soot, NOx. HC and CO emissions etc. The obtained conclusions are as follows (1) Specific fuel consumption is indicated the least value at BTDC$18^{\circ}$ of fuel injection timing and it is increased in case of leading the injection timing. (2) Soot emission is decreased in case of leading fuel injection timing and it is increased in the form of convex downwards with increasing the load. (3)$NO_x$ emission is increased in case of leading fuel injection timing and it is increased in the form of straight line nearly with increasing the load. (4) HC and CO emissions are decreased in case of leading fuel injection timing and they are changed in the form of convex downwards with increasing the load. -
In a main propulsion system of naval ship, DRME(Double Resilient Mounted Engine) is mostly adopted to ensure vibration isolation and shock resistance against underwater explosion weapon attack. In this paper, an analysis program for vibration and shock evaluation of DRME is presented. DRME is modelled as multi-rigid bodies with nonlinear mounts, and direct time integration method is introduced for shock analysis. The computed results are compared with those of foreign ones. Navy's proposed specifications are well satisfied with this program. This analysis program serves for the development of domestic DRME technology of naval ship.

In this study, CT specimens were prepared from spring steel(SUP9) processed shot peening which was room temperature, low temperature and high temperature experiment. And we got the following characteristics from fatigue crack growth test carried out in the environment of room, low temperature and high temperature at
$25^{\circ}C$ , -3$0^{\circ}C$ , -5$0^{\circ}C$ , -7$0^{\circ}C$ , -10$0^{\circ}C$ and 5$0^{\circ}C$ , 10$0^{\circ}C$ , 15$0^{\circ}C$ , 18$0^{\circ}C$ and in the range of stress ratio of 0.05 by means of opening mode displacement. The threshold stress intensity factor range$\DeltaK_{th}$ in the early stage of fatigue crack growth (Region I ) and stress intensity factor range ΔK in the stable of fatigue crack growth (Region II) was decreased in proportion to descend temperature. It assumed that the fatigue resistance characteristics and fracture strength at low temperature and high temperature is considerable higher than that of room temperature in the early stage and stable of fatigue crack growth region. -
Recently the steel parts used at automobiles are required to be used under high stress more than ever before in need of the weight down. To achieve this requirement of a high strength steel, it must be necessary to decrease inclusion content and surface defect as like decarburization, surface roughness etc.. In this study, the surface conditions are measured to know the influence on fatigue properties by two cases of shot peening of two-stage shot peening and single-stage shot peening. And for this study, three kinds of spring steel(JISG4081-SUP ,SAE 9254, DIN 50CrV4, ) are made. This study shows the outstanding improvement of fatigue properties at the case of two-stage shot peening in the rotary bending fatigue test and this is assumed to be from (1) Decreasing the surface roughness (2) Unchanging the surface hardness (3) Increasing the compressive residual stress But, results also show fatigue failures originated at inclusion near surface, and this inclusion type is turned out to be a alumina of high hardness.

The fatigue crack growth behavior of the SA516/60 steel which is used for pressure vessels was examined experimentally at room temperature
$25^{\circ}C, -30^{\circ}C, -60^{\circ}C, -80^{\circ}C, -100^{\circ}C$ and -l2$0^{\circ}C$ with stress ratio of R=0.05, 0.1 and 0.3. Fatigue crack propagation rate da/dN related with stress intensity factor range ΔK was influenced by stress ratio in stable of fatigue crack growth (Region II) with an increase in ΔK. The resistance of fatigue crack growth at low temperature is higher compared with that at room temperature, which is attributed to the extent of plasticity-induced by compressive residual stress according to the cyclic loads. Fractographic examinations reveal that the differences of the fatigue crack growth characteristics between room and low temperatures are mainly explained by the crack closure and the strengthening due to the plasticity induced and roughness induced. -
New type of vehicles made from thin aluminum alloy are under rapid development and some product are already on the market, but when welding sheet metal joint of aluminum alloy, the main problem are burn-through by the high heat input. The purpose of this study, it is to prevent the burn-through and to shallow penetration that AC pulse welding has diminish the penetration and to lower the droplet temperature at Al sheet metal welding. In this study, we observed the bead appearance and whether it was appeared burn through or not , as the variation of the root gap in the lap and butt-joint welding process.

This paper was studied on the effect of temperature on corrosion of absorption refrigeration systems using LiBr-
$H_2O$ working fluids. In the fresh water and 62 %lithium bromide solution at$70^{\circ}C$ , polarization test of SS 400, Cu(Cl220T-OL) and Ni-Al bronze was carried out. And Polarization behavior, polarization resistance characteristics, corrosion rate(mmpy) and corrosion sensitivity of materials forming absorption refrigeration systems was considered. The main results are as following: As the experimental temperature increase, the change of corrosion rate of Ni-Al bronze become duller than SS 400 and Cu in 62 % lithium bromide solution. Open circuit potential of SS 400 is less noble than that of Cu and Ni-Al bronze in fresh water, but that becomes noble than Cu and Ni-Al bronze in 62 % lithium bromide solution. The corrosion sensitivity of Ni-Al bronze was controlled than that of Cu and SS 400 in 62% LiBr solution. -
Recently, the researches on the prevention of marine oil pollution being strengthened. Sludge oils were unavoidably produced in ship's operations, therefore it is necessary to manage the sludge oils inside the ship itself with the view to prevent marine oil pollution from ship. The present study deals with the ultrasonic breaking systems that recycle the sludge oil from ships into usable oil to be burnt. At the first instanceexperimental studies were carried out to investigate the homogenizing effect of the marine oils and the erosion aspect of horn disc by repeated vibration of ultrasonic transducer. The erosion damages for horn disc SS41 steel with weight loss rate and the irradiation time to max. erosion rate were examined according to the variation of the transducer amplitude, the oil temperature and the immersing depth of horn disc. As the result of it, the erosion aspects of horn disk were varied with oil environments and testing time.

In this analysis, condition for DCVM operation and conversion ratio for rectified sinusoidal input are made clear. Parameter tuning methods by Ziegler-Nickels for control systems are generally classified into Z-N(1) and Z-N(2). The purpose of this paper is to describe what relations exist between methods of Z-N(1) and Z-N(2), or how Z-N(1) method can be originated from Z-N(2) method by analyzing one loop control system of P or PI controller and time delay process. The formulas of Z-N(1) consist of process parameters, L(time delay),
$K_m$ (gain) and$T_m$ (time constant), but Z-N(2) method is based only on the ultimate gain$K_u$ and the ultimate period$T_u$ acquired normally by practical trial without any parameters of Z-N(1). In this paper, for the first step to seek mutual relations, the simple formulas of Z-N(2) are transformed into the formulas composed of the same parameters as Z-N(1) which is derived from the analysis of frequency characteristics. Then, the approximation of the actual ultimate frequency is proposed as important premise in the translation between Z-N(1) and (2). Such equalization and approximation brings a simple approximated formula which can explain how Z-N(1) is originated from the Z-N(2) in the form of formula. And a model system is adopted to compare the approximated formula to Z-N(1) and Z-N(2) methods, the results of which show the effectiveness of the proposals. -
A new technique for improving the efficiency of single-phase high-frequency boost converter is proposed. This converter includes an additional low-frequency boost converter which is connected to the main high-frequency switching device in parallel. The additional converter is controlled at lower frequency. Most of the current flows in the low-frequency switch and so, high-frequency switching loss is greatly reduced accordingly Both switching device are controlled by a simple method; each controller consists of a one-shot multivibrator, a comparator and an AND gate. The converter works cooperatively in high efficiency and acts as if it were a conventional high-frequency boost converter with one switching device. The proposed method is verified by simulation. This paper describes the converter configuration and design, and discusses the steady-state performance concerning the switching loss reduction and efficiency improvement.

A Software development of space launch vehicle danamics and control simulation is presented in this study. The Dynamics for a two body problem including pertubations for various effect show on this paper. Mission analysis for space launch vehicle is included rendezvous mission. The software develpoment is intended to maintain generality to the extent possible through objected approach for future modification and expansion. This result shows various pertubation effect is also important.

In the re-entry control system, errors apt to induce because the time derivative of drag acceleration is analytically estimated. Still more, the difficulty of estimation of the exact drag coefficient in hypersonic velocity and the nun-reality of the scale height cause a steady-state drag error. This paper proposes the additional method of the disturbance observer. This reduces the steady-state drag error according to the following series. First, this method estimates a error in drag acceleration time derivative by the analytic calculation and then creates the new drag acceleration time derivative using the estimated error. The performance of the re-entry control system is verified about 32 reference trajectories.
