The subjects of the study were data collected from 108 nursing students in 3rd and 4th grade and analyzed. The factors affecting career preparation behavior of nursing college students were career decision self-efficacy (β= .54, p<.001) and career decision level (β =.23, p=.009). Career decision-making levels were found to play a partial mediating role in the relationship between efficacy and career readiness behavior (Z=2.49, p=.006). The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to improve the career decision-making self-efficacy and the level of career decision-making for effective career preparation behavior, and it is necessary to develop strategic career guidance and program that reflects this.

  • Background: This study aimed to investigate the effects of department satisfaction and career maturity on the perceived health status, relationship, and self-efficacy of dental hygiene college students based on Alderfer's existence-relationship-growth theory. Methods: We obtained convenience samples of dental hygiene students in Daejeon and Chungnam areas; 241 questionnaires were collected from 250 persons considering the dropout rate and used for the final analysis except for 9 careless responses. The differences in perceived health status, relationship, self-efficacy, department satisfaction, and career maturity according to general characteristics were analyzed using a t-test, one-way analysis of variance and Pearson's correlation coefficients. Moreover, structural equation modeling was performed to confirm the variables. GFI, AGFI,CFI, RMR, RMSEA, TLI, and NFI indices were calculated to verify the fitness of the path model. Results: There were significant differences in self-efficacy, department satisfaction, career maturity according to grade, and significant differences in academic performance for all variables except relationship. The school system also had a significant effect on department satisfaction. Perceived health status, relationship, self-efficacy, department satisfaction, and career maturity demonstrated statistically significant positive correlations (p<0.05). The factors affecting department satisfaction were relationship and self-efficacy. The indirect and total effects of perceived health status and relationship on career maturity were not statistically significant; however, the indirect and total effects of self-efficacy on career maturity were statistically significant. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop teaching methods according to student management plans for dental hygiene by comprehensively perceived health status, relationship, and self-efficacy affecting department satisfaction and career maturity.

Second, the career decision-making self-efficacy had complete mediating effects on the relation between social support and career preparation behavior. Third, it was found that social support indirectly had a positive effect on career preparation behavior through career decision-making self-efficacy. The results of this study show that perceived social support of Korean Polytechnics students affects career decision-making self-efficacy and increases the level of career preparation behavior. This suggests that through active social support around Korean Polytechnics students, it is necessary to provide environmental factors that can promote career preparation behavior by enhancing the self-efficacy of career decision-making, which is a low-level factor for students.

  • The purpose of this study was to analysis the causal model between self-directedness, learning flow, career decision and self-efficacy, and career exploration behavior of undergraduate students. A survey was conducted on 604 undergraduate students, and Structural Equation Modeling was used to analyze. The major findings were as follows: First, learning flow and career decision self-efficacy were found to have positive impacts on career exploration behavior. However, self-directedness was found to have no significant direct impacts on career exploration behavior. Second, self-directedness was found to have positive impacts on learning flow and career decision self-efficacy. Finally, learning flow and career decision self-efficacy were found to have perfect mediating effects on the relationships between self-directedness and career exploration behavior. Considering the size of the specific indirect effect, the mediating effects of learning flow was relatively larger than those of career decision self-efficacy. Based on the results, discussions to increase career exploration behavior were made as well as suggestions for future research.
