People are always pursuing the aesthetic feeling relentlessly. But some people have such problems with their hairs like alopecia, cancer chemotherapy, burns, and scalp injury. So the synthetic hair has played a very important role to make up for these deficiencies. But long term use can lead to adverse reactions or uncomfortable feeling. This is primarily caused by its properties differ with human hair. In particular, nanotribological characterizations (roughness, friction force and adhesive force) of synthetic hair surface are dissatisfy with the needs of normal hairs. This paper presents the experiments on nanotribological characterizations measurements of human hairs (coloring hair, permed hair and common hair) in shampooing condition or without shampooing condition. Using atomic force microscopy (AFM) to find out a range of synthetic hair nanotribological characterizations which can correspond with natural hair. The measurements of nanotribological characterizations focus on surface roughness, friction force and adhesive force, and a new design of AFM probe was used for measuring the nanotribological characterizations.

As NMP (N-Methyl-2pyrrolidone) is becoming important in many fields, the demand for it is also rising rapidly. With its chemical property of high boiling point, low vapor pressure and high water solubility, it is easy to recover it after processing. Therefore, it is increasingly needed to develop a system that effectively recovers NMP solvent. The study produced a system modeling using AMESim software before developing high purity solvent recovery (HPSR) system to recover NMP solvent. Then, it verified reliability by comparing the simulation model with the test result.

In this paper, the principle of devices which can magnify images without distorting the images is described. When the device is put on a smart phones, viewers can see the magnified images. Magnified images can be few 100 times bigger than the original images. Therefore, viewers can see movie theater size images with the device put on a smart phone. Two different schemes are explained in the paper and one realization of the device is presented. The device can be used in many different application areas.

This study was explained the correlation between the O 1s spectra and the crystallization of ITO thin films. The crystal structure of ITO thin films changed with various annealing temperatures and annealing methods such as atmosphere or vaccum conditions. The amorphous structure observed from XRD pattern showed the O 1s spectra with 531.2 eV, and the crystal structure of annealed ITO films analyzed by XRD pattern had the O 1s spectra of 529.8 eV as lower binding energy then the 531.2 eV. Oxygen in view of ITO films was related to the crystallization, and the ITO films annealed in an atmosphere pressure showed higher crystal structure than the ITO annealed in a vaccum. It was indicated that the amorphous structure had higher binding energy than the crystal structure analyzed by O 1s spectra of ITO films.

In this study, RF magnetron sputtering was used to investigate the relationship between oxygen vacancy and carrier concentration in a GZO film on an amorphous structure. RF power was fixed at 50W and Ar flow was changed on a glass plate to create a thin film at room temperature. The transmittance of Al-adopted amorphous GZO was measured at 85% or higher; therefore, the transmittance was shown to be outstanding in all films. The hall mobility was also shown to be higher at the film showing the high transmittance at a short-wavelength, whereas the optical energy gap was shown to be higher at the film with high oxygen vacancy. The oxygen vacancy at the amorphous oxide semi-conductor increased the optical energy gap while it was not directly involved in increasing the mobility. The oxygen vacancy increases the carrier concentration while lowering the quality of amorphous structure; such factor, therefore affected the mobility. The increase of amorphous property is a direct way to increase the mobility of amorphous oxide semi-conductor.

This research aims to develop Look Ahead position interpolation algorithm for small size CNC machine controlled by PC based controller. Look Ahead scheme can process a bundle of CNC's linear interpolation commands simultaneously, which reduces acceleration and deceleration time within single linear interpolation command. The algorithm is derived as simple analytical form which can be adapted to PC based CNC system by C language programming. The performance of the algorithm was verified by tail stock machining G codes experimentally. The average traverse speed of the CNC machine was increased by 27.5% and the total traverse time also reduced by 27.2% with the Look Ahead scheme.

In this paper, numerical simulations on conical fluidized bed combustors were carried out to estimate the effect of coefficients of restitution between particle and particle and particle to wall on hydrodynamics and heat transfer. The Eulerian-Eulerian two-fluid model was used to simulate the hydrodynamics and heat transfer in a conical fluidized bed combustor. The solid phase properties were calculated by applying the kinetic theory of granular flow. Simulations results show that increasing the restitution coefficient between the particle and particle results in increasing the bed pressure drop. On other hand, the increasing of particle to wall coefficient of restitution results in decreasing the bed pressure drop. It is found that the coefficient of restitution has little effect on heat transfer.

Using a combined CVD and ALD equipment system, multi-layer quantum well structures of $Al_2O_3/a-Si/Al_2O_3$ were fabricated on silicon Schottky junction devices and implemented to quantum well solar cells, in which the 1~1.5 nm thicknesses of the aluminum oxide films and the a-Si thin film layers were deposited at $300^{\circ}C$ and $450^{\circ}C$, respectively. Fabricated solar cell was operated by tunneling phenomena through the inserted quantum well structure being generated electrons on the silicon surface. Efficiency of the fabricated solar cell inserted with multi-quantum well of 41 layers has been increased by about 10 times that of the solar cell of pure Schottky junction solar cell.

This paper proposes a new histogram partition stretching and shrinking method for infrared image enhancement. The proposed method divides the histogram of an input image into three partitions according to its mean value and standard deviation. The method stretches both the dark partition and the bright partition of the histogram, while it shrinks the medium partition. As the result, both the dark part and the bright part of the image have more brightness levels. The proposed method is implemented using C language in an embedded Linux system for a high-speed real-time image processing. Experiments were conducted by using various infrared images. The results show that the proposed algorithm is successful for the infrared image enhancement.

Mobile devices like smartphones and tablets are becoming increasingly capable in terms of processing power. Although they are already used in computer vision, no comparable measurement experiments of the popular feature extraction algorithm have been made yet. That is, local feature descriptors are widely used in many computer vision applications, and recently various methods have been proposed. While there are many evaluations have focused on various aspects of local features, matching accuracy, however there are no comparisons considering on speed trade-offs of recent descriptors such as ORB, FAST and BRISK. In this paper, we try to provide a performance evaluation of feature descriptors, and compare their matching precision and speed in KD-Tree setup with efficient computation of Hamming distance. The experimental results show that the recently proposed real valued descriptors such as ORB and FAST outperform state-of-the-art descriptors such SIFT and SURF in both, speed-up efficiency and precision/recall.

With the start of digital broadcasting, TV screen, there is provided a new broadcast service is called EPG (Electronic Program Guide) that can be retrieved directly to a channel or program. However, a study considering the EPG of the user interface on the viewer position is so far insufficient. TV is because everyone watching the media, rather than a specific layer is necessary in order to find easy, intuitive user interface for the program to the viewer. That is, it is possible to quickly find the program to select the attributes that the TV viewer can be easily understood by using the EPG. To this end, this paper first genres which are representative of the properties that distinguish a TV program, time, rating, etc. were systematically classified. So viewers the values of the properties but to specify organized by the EPG, the order of attributes that specify the value we design a user interface that can be selected as having easy. And compare the superiority of the function evaluation of the two through the EPG in the EPG Usability Test proposed by the EPG with the existing commercial paper.

Three-level diode clamped multilevel inverter, generally known as neutral point clamped (NPC) inverter, has an inherent problem causing neutral point (NP) potential variation. Until now, the NP potential problem of variation has been investigated and lots of solutions have also been proposed. This paper presents a neutral point voltage control technology using the anti-windup PI controller and offset technology of PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) to control the variation of NPC 3-phase three-level inverter neutral point voltage. And the proposed algorithm is tested and verified using a PLL (Phase Locked Loop) in order to synchronize the phase voltage from the line voltage of grid. It significantly improves the voltage balancing under a solar fluctuation conditions of the inverter. Experimental results show the good performance and effectiveness of the proposed method.

The method of electrical discharge machining (EDM), one of the processing methods based on non-traditional manufacturing procedures, is gaining increased popularity, since it does not require cutting tools and allows machining involving hard, brittle, thin and complex geometry. Modern ED machinery is capable of machining geometrically complex or hard material components, that are precise and difficult-to-machine such as heat treated tool steels, composites, super alloys, ceramics, etc. This paper reports the results of an experimental investigation by Taguchi method carried out to study the effects of machining parameters on material surface roughness in electric discharge machining of SM45C. The work material was ED machined with graphite and copper electrodes by varying the pulsed current, voltage and pulse time. Investigations indicate that the surface roughness is strongly depend on pulsed current.

We have designed and fabricated two different RF-DC Converters called doubler for 5.8GHz Microwave Wireless Power Transmission. The doubler as RF-DC Converter makes the rectified voltage be doubled. We measured and compared voltages of the doublers with those of the previous full-wave rectifying RF-DC Converter. The doublers show rectified double voltages. However, the full-wave rectifying converter has a high efficiency due to the suppression of reflecting harmonics. The other fabricated doublers causes so many harmonics that they can't convert the low-power RF to the full DC. In this paper, we show that the different doublers doesn't double the rectifying voltages compared with those of the full-wave rectifying converter and give a reason about that.

In this paper, we have designed and fabricated a BPF (Band Pass Filter) for 5.8GHz Microwave Wireless Power Transmission. We $used{\lambda}g/2$ open-circuited stubs in addition to T-shaped transmission lines for the BPF. This BPF removes harmonics caused by diodes of RF-DC converter, and thus the RF-DC converter converts more RF power to the DC. The performance of the BPF was measured and shown through direct comparison of voltages converted by the doubler as a RF-DC Converter with and without the BPF.

The purpose of this work is to support a solution of optimizing TMO (tone mapping operator). JPEG XT Profile A and C utilize Erik Reinhard TMO that works well in most cases, however, detailed information of a scene is lost in some cases. Reinhard TMO only calculates its coefficient to have tone-mapping curve from log-average luminance, and this lead to lose details of bright and dark area of scenes in turn. Thus, this paper proposes an enhancement of the default TMO for JPEG XT Profile C to optimize tone-mapping curve. Main idea is that we divide tone mapping curve into several ranges, and set reasonable parameters for each range. By the experimental results, the proposed scheme shows and obtains better performance within a dark scene, compared to the default Reinhard TMO.
