This study examined the mediating effects of couple communication on self-differentiation and marital satisfaction among married women. The ANOVA, correlation and the multiple regression analysis were used to figure out the relationships and the mediating effects of those variables. The results revealed that self-differentiation was significantly related to marital satisfaction. Also, couple communication was revealed to be a partial and full mediator between self-differentiation and marital satisfaction. The results were as follows. First, there were differences in couple communication and marital satisfaction. Marital satisfaction showed differences according to socio-economic variables such as educational level, occupation, family income, and the years of married life. Educational level and family income made differences in couple's communication. However, socio-economic variables did not make any difference with regard to self-differentiation. Second, there was a significant correlation among all sub-factors for self-differentiation, whole self-differentiation, married couples' communication, and marital satisfaction. Third, the result shows that the mediating effect of couple communication between self-differentiation and marital satisfaction. Couple communication completely mediated the relationship between cognitive vs. emotional function, family projection, emotional cutoff, and marital satisfaction. It also partially mediated the relationship between family regression and marital satisfaction. In addition, there was a tendency to partially mediate the relationship between general self-differentiation and marital satisfaction. The results suggested that self-differentiation and couples communication should be considered together when explaining marital satisfaction among married women. Also, the results implied the importance of the increased self-differentiation and the better couple communication in women's marital satisfaction. Finally, this research suggested the necessity of counseling services to enhance the self-differentiation as well as couple communication programs for the marital satisfaction of women.
The study assessed the relationship between brand evidence (e.g., brand name, price/value for money, servicescape, core service, employee service and self-image congruence) and positive/negative emotion and brand satisfaction, and between positive/negative emotion and brand satisfaction in the family restaurant setting. Also, the relationship of positive/negative emotion and brand satisfaction with customer loyalty were assessed. Customers who used five brands of family restaurant in Daegu and Pusan during October of 2008 were surveyed by questionnaires. Brand evidence was positively related to positive emotion and brand satisfaction, and was negatively related to negative emotion. Positive emotion was positively related to brand satisfaction and negative emotion was negatively related to brand satisfaction. Brand satisfaction was positively relatively to customer loyalty. The results indicate that management of family restaurants should focus on brand evidence as a means of increasing profits and sales volume.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between 'family-work conflict/work-family conflict', job burnout, job satisfaction, and individual job performance in the employees at the restaurants in Daegu City. The sample of this study consisted of employees at the restaurants in Daegu City who visited the 2010 Daegu Food Tour Expo between October 7 and October 10. A total of 302 questionnaires were analyzed using statistical methods of factor analysis, reliability test, and covariance structural analysis. The research findings were as follows; firstly, work-family conflict was positively related to job burnout, secondly, job burnout was negatively related to job satisfaction and individual job performance and thirdly, job satisfaction was positively related to individual job performance. However, there was no relationship between family-work conflict and job burnout. The reason for rejection of the relationship between family-work conflict and job burnout was that family-related affairs were not important enough to affect job burnout among restaurant employees in Korea. This phenomenon happened differently in the US. Therefore, currently, restaurant managers in Daegu City should pay much attention to work-related affairs so as to mitigate job burnout as much as possible among their employees.
The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of self-esteem on the effect of family relationship satisfaction on depression among the elderly and to draw implications for the social welfare field. For this study, raw data from the 16th Korean Welfare Panel Survey were used for analysis, and a sample of 4,310 elderly people aged 65 years or older was selected as respondents. The collected data were subjected to frequency analysis and correlation analysis using IBM SPSS 24.0, and the Process Macro of SPSS proposed by Hayes (2018) was used to examine the mediating effect. The results of the significance test of family relationship satisfaction on depression showed that family relationship satisfaction was significant, i.e., the higher the level of family relationship satisfaction, the lower the depression. In addition, the results of the significance test of the effects of family relationship satisfaction and self-esteem on depression showed that family relationship satisfaction had a significant effect, and the mediating variable, self-esteem, had a significant effect on depression. Therefore, this study aims to identify the characteristics of family relationship satisfaction among the elderly and provide policy suggestions and social work practice directions to reduce the level of depression among the elderly.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between family violence exposure and school violence, to explore the mediating effects of family life satisfaction, school life satisfaction, and internalizing on those relationship and to suggest practical implications for social work services for those adolescents. 4,773 adolescents were selected for the questionnaire study in Gjwangju. Collected data were analysed by Structural Equation Modeling in AMOS 20.0 and SPSS 20.0. The findings of this study were as follows: First, there were significant correlations among family life satisfaction, school life satisfaction, internalizing and school violence offense with family violence exposure. Second, the structural model analysis revealed that family violence had no direct link with school violence. Third, Family violence had indirect effects on school violence, mediated by family life satisfaction, school life satisfaction and internalizing. Based on these findings, the research discussion reinforced the importance of family focused services to prevent the school violence and suggested effective intervention plan.

The purpose of this study is to propose measures for social work practice to enhance the happiness of middle-aged married men and women by identifying the effects of family stress and social support resources (formal and informal support resources) on marital satisfaction among mid-life married couples. Subjects were selected through purposive sampling among married men and women aged between 40 and 59 and living in Seoul City and Gyeonggi province. The study results are follows. First, the average score of family stress was 3.06 points (SD=.56), slightly higher than the median value of 3 points. Of all subscales of family stress, the subjects experienced the most stress from family relationships, followed by financial problems, health and loss of families, and work-family compatibility. In regard to social support resources, the mean value of all social support resources categories was greater than the median. Among the subscales, informal support (family support and support from other people) was found to be higher than formal support. The level of marital satisfaction was higher than the median, and the score was 3.21 points (SD=.78). Second, in order to explore differences in marital satisfaction according to family stress and social support, differences in marital satisfaction were analyzed by grouping subjects who scored high, middle, and low levels of marital satisfaction. According to the results, marital satisfaction was statistically significantly higher in the group that experienced less family stress (F=6.25, p<.01). With respect to social support, marital satisfaction was statistically significantly higher in the group that received high social support (F=29.68, p<.001). Third, according to the analysis of factors affecting marital satisfaction in middle-aged married men and women, subjective economic status, family relationship stress, economic stress, and family support showed statistical significance. The higher the subjective economic status and the lower the family relationship stress and economic stress levels, the higher the marital satisfaction among middle-aged married men and women. In addition, the greater the family support, the higher the marital satisfaction. The results of this study underscore the need to improve family relationships in middle-aged married couples and to distribute family life education programs that can strengthen family support resources. For example, family relationship enhancement programs are currently performed, including "Family School for Middle-Aged Baby Boomers" and others as part of the Healthy Family Support Work regarding the promotion of marital satisfaction of middle-aged couples. In addition, continuing effort is warranted to include content on strengthening family support resources, maximizing the effectiveness of programs, and promoting service accessibility.
Objective: The purpose of the present study was to examine how children's transition to adulthood might be related to their parents' marital satisfaction and relationship satisfaction with children. Specifically, we investigated if the numbers of children who (1) graduated from 4-year college, (2) were employed, (3) were married, (4) moved out of parental homes and lived independently, and (5) had at least one child might be associated with better marital satisfaction and higher relationship satisfaction with children among midlife and older parents. We also evaluated if the associations might differ by gender of the children (sons vs. daughters) as well as by their gender and birth order (first-born son, later-born son, first-born daughter, later-born daughter). Method: The analytic sample was drawn from the 2006 Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing. The sample consisted of 1,905 parents whose children were aged between 25 and 35. For analysis, regression models with robust standard errors were estimated using Stata. Results: Results suggest that sons' (especially first-born sons') transition to adulthood exerted more consistent impacts on parents. More specifically, first-born sons' completion of higher education, marriage, and independent living arrangement were associated with either higher levels of parental marital satisfaction or relationship satisfaction with children. With regard to later-born sons, their completion of college education was linked to higher levels of parental marital satisfaction and relationship satisfaction with children. Conclusion: Korean parents appear to place greater importance on first-born sons' successful transition to adulthood compared to those of other children. Overall, however, transition to adulthood may have limited influence on Korean parents.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of weekend forest healing programs using urban forest on family cohesion and family relationship improvement and parental satisfaction with programs. 21 families (65 people)participated in the weekend forest healing program in Incheon Grand Park from April to August 2018. The program using family forest experience activity and forest healing therapy was newly constructed and implemented with 4 times 8 hours for 2 hours each week. The results of this study is that weekend forest healing programs for family gave a positive effect on family cohesion and family relationship, and parents' satisfaction showed high satisfaction in most items. Therefore, we concluded that forest healing activities are suitable for effective healing activities in modern society where functions such as family cohesion and emotional bond are recognized as important by improving family cohesion and family relationship. Further research should be extended to different types of families, and the development of diverse and interesting family-experience forest healing programs that reflect family needs should continue.
