  • Timers are commonly used in hardware design for time delays that are to be much longer than the system clock period. In this paper, we present a method by which we can synthesie a hardware containing timers that implement long time delays described in VHDL. Because, in general, timers require high hardware cost, they must be utilized as efficiently as possible. To solve this problem we define a graph model and propose an algorithm that uses the graph model to minimize number of timers. A preliminary experimental result show that the algorithm implements all required time delays using minimum number of timers.

  • In the present paper, the problem of stability analysis for linear systems with interval time-varying delays is considered. By introducing a new Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, new stability criteria are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Two numerical examples are given to show the superiority of the proposed method.

  • In this paper cellular neutral networks with time-varying delays and continuously distributed delays are considered. Without assuming the global Lipschitz conditions of activation functions, some sufficient conditions for the existence and exponential stability of the almost periodic solutions are established by using the fixed point theorem and differential inequality techniques. The results of this paper are new and complement previously known results.

  • This paper is concerned with H$_{\infty}$ controller design methods for descriptor systems with and without time-varying delays in state and control input. The sufficient condition for the existence of an H$_{\infty}$ controller and the controller design method are presented by linear matrix inequality (LMI), singular value decomposition, Schur complements, and changes of variables. Since the obtained sufficient condition can be changed to an LMI form by proper manipulations, all solutions including controller gain can be obtained at the same time. Moreover, it is shown that robust H$_{\infty}$ controller design problem for parameter uncertain descriptor systems with time-varying delays in state and control input can be solvable using the proposed method.

  • This paper focuses on congestion control for ATM network with uncertain time-variant delays. The time-variant delays can be distinguished into two distinct components. The first one is represented by time-variant queueing delays in the intermediate switches that are occurred in the return paths of RM cells. The next one is a forward path delay. It is solved by the VBR model which quantifies the data propagation from the sources to the switch. Robust $H_8$ control is studied for solving congestion problem with norm-bounded time-varying uncertain parameters. The suitable robust $H_8$ controller is obtained from the solution of a convex optimization problem through LMI technique.

  • This paper proposes a isolated speech recognition method of Korean digits using a TDNN(Time Delay Neural Network) which is able to recognizc time-varying speech properties. We also make an investigation of effect on network parameter of TDNN ; hidden layers and time-delays. TDNNs in our experiments consist of 2 and 3 hidden layers and have several time-delays. From experiment result, TDNN structure which has 2 hidden-layers, gives a good result for speech recognition of Korean digits. Mis-recognition by time-delays can be improved by changing TDNN structures and mis-recognition separated from time-delays can be improved by changing input patterns.

  • This paper deals with the robust stability of discrete-time linear systems with time- varying delays and norm-bounded uncertainties. In this paper, the magnitude of time-varying delays is assumed to be upper-bounded. The sufficient condition is presented in terms of linear matrix inequality. It is also shown that the robust stability of uncertain discrete-time linear systems with time-varying delays is related with the quadratic stability of uncertain discrete-time linear systems with constant time delay.

  • With respect to stochastic delays at linked signals the solid quantitative information has not been available as yet. On the basis of field data the values of "I" (variance-mean ration of flow) were related with the rate of flow. The stochastic delays with specific "I" values were obtained from the distribution of overflow queue, which were calculated by the use of Markov chains. This examination of the results led to the derivation of a simple method for calculating stochastic dclays through the introduction of "I" into Miller's model. The good agreement was shown between the model and the field. The relationships between the cycle lengths and delays were examinated in a large number of conditions with regard to degree of saturation. signal split and link length. Within the practical range of cycle length uniform delays were dominant and no critical point was found in terms of minimum, delay. In highly saturated conditions however the weight of stochastic delay is noticeable.

  • In this paper, a class of bi-directional associative memory (BAM) fuzzy cellular neural networks with distributed delays and impulses is formulated and investigated. By employing an integro-differential inequality with impulsive initial conditions and the topological degree theory, some sufficient conditions ensuring the existence and global exponential stability of equilibrium point for impulsive BAM fuzzy cellular neural networks with distributed delays are obtained. In particular, the estimate of the exponential convergence rate is also provided, which depends on the delay kernel functions and system parameters. It is believed that these results are significant and useful for the design and applications of BAM fuzzy cellular neural networks. An example is given to show the effectiveness of the results obtained here.

  • Robust stability of discrete-time regulators which utilize state predictors to compensate computation delays is considered. Novel expressions for the return difference matrices and the complementary sensitivity matrices at the input and the output of the regulator are found to obtain simple bounds for unstructured perturbations. Robust stability for pertubations of the system matrix and /or the gain matrix is also considered. under certain restriction on the nominal system simple bounds for the pertubations are obtained directly from the characteristic equation. It is shown that as far as the effect of the computation delays concerns these bounds have explicit relation to those for the unstructured pertubations.
