Occupational self-efficacy is one of the factors necessary for successful occupational rehabilitation of persons with intellectual disabilities. In this research, we investigated to see whether participating in a game-based training for job affects occupational self-efficacy. We compared a group who played a job-training game during traditional training with a group who participated only in traditional training. The results indicate that overall occupational self-efficacy of the game-based training group was affected significantly compared to the control group. Among the four subcategories, problem solving self efficacy and stress management self-efficacy showed significant improvement.
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to find the ways to prevent the fatigue of the office of railroad employees. Method: The data were collected from the male employees of Korea Railroad Corporation. Results: The mean score of the degree of fatigue was 4.33. The factors that affected the level of fatigue were support from senior officials, exercise, age, work stress, number of work hours per week, alcohol intake and working area. To be more specific, the level of fatigue was lower when the support from senior officials was higher. The employees who did no exercise, who are in the age between 31 and 40, with high working stress, who worked 61 hours per week of higher, non-drinkers were found to have higher level of fatigue. The employees with the age of 51 years or older with unspecified work area had relatively lower level of fatigue. Conclusion: In conclusion, to decrease the level of fatigue of the office of railroad employees, the development of health improvement programs are required such as increase of the support from senior officials, change in exercise and drinking habit, decrease of the work stress and adjustment of the working hours.
Purpose: The study aimed to identify factors influencing work-life balance in female service workers. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with an online survey of 234 service workers using volunteer panels. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire from July 16 to 24, 2017. Major variables included work-life balance, resilience, emotional intelligence, job stress, and fatigue. Using the SPSS 24.0 program, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were conducted. Results: The mean score of the work-life balance level of female service workers was $2.9{\pm}0.85$ on a total score of 6. A multiple regression analysis revealed that smoking, resilience, job stress and fatigue were statistically significant factors in the model (p<.001), with an explanatory power of 50.3%. Emotional intelligence was not significantly associated with work-life balance. Conclusion: The level of work-life balance was considerably low in female service workers. This study suggests that nursing interventions to enhance work-life balance are required at both the individual and organizational levels.
Purpose: This study aims to investigate the degree of job demand, job resources, burnout, and the organizational commitment of administrative nurses based on the job demands-resources model. Further, it seeks to confirm the influencing factors affecting nurses' burnout and organizational commitment. Methods: The participants were 188 administrative nurses working at hospitals (one tertiary hospital and six general hospitals) located in D City. The collected data were analyzed with IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0 using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. Results: The influential factors of burnout were role conflict (β=.50), job demand (β=.18), job position (β=-.17, team leaders and above), and social support (β=-.15). The regression model had an explanatory power of 59%. The influential factors of organizational commitment were appropriate rewards (β=.59), job position (β=.15, team leader or above), working department (β=.14, referral center and health screening administration department), and social support (β=.18). The regression model had an explanatory power of 59.5%. Conclusion: The results support the job demands-resources model, and interventions should be developed to decrease job demand and provide sufficient job resources.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of nursing work environment and job stress on health problems of hospital nurses. Methods: The subjects were 200 nurses working in S general hospital in Gyeongnam, and the data were collected using organized questionnaire from Jan 10 to 25, 2015. The Korean version of the practice environment scale of nursing work index, the instrument for job stress, and the Korean version of Todie Health Index for health problem were used for measurement. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression. Results: The nursing work environment was found to be slightly negative, and the job stress was found to be high. There were significant correlation among nursing work environment, job stress, and health problems. In addition, it showed that the nursing work environment and job stress of nurses were factors affecting their health problems. Conclusion: The nursing work environment and job stress are influencing factors on the health problems of hospital nurses. Multi-faceted efforts to create a positive nursing work environment are required. Further researches related to association between the nursing work environment and health problem of nurses are needed.
Purpose: This study was conducted to understand the subjective symptom rate of musculoskeletal disease of male taxi drivers and comprehend general features, health behavior features, and factors related to the subjective symptoms of musculoskeletal system depending on the level of job stress. Methods: The participants were 206 male taxi drivers from 4 transportation companies in the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas. The investigation was conducted from July 20th 2012 to August 20th 2012 through a self-administered questionnaire survey. Results: The participants who exercised less than three times per week complained about the subjective symptoms of the musculoskeletal system (p=.016) 13.770 times as more as than those of the participants who exercised more than three times per week the participants who had a higher level of job stress complained about the subjective symptoms of the muscular skeletal (p=.011) 1.051times as more as than those who had a relatively lower level of job stress. Conclusion: This study recommends that it is necessary to provide exercise programs and arrange various plans reducing job stress to prevent muscular skeletal disease and minimize the disease susceptibility of taxi drivers.
Purpose: This study was to identify the factors determining the turnover intention of nurses in Emergency Department (ED). Methods: The subjects were 123 ED nurses working at 10 general hospitals in Busan, Korea. The data were collected from August 15th to September 22nd, 2013. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS program through descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression. Results: There were positive correlations between traumatic events experience and post-traumatic stress (r=.416, p<.001), between depression and traumatic events experience (r=.212, p=.001), between traumatic events experience and turnover intention (r=.289, p=.001), between post-traumatic stress and depression (r=.251, p=.005), and also between depression and turnover intention (r=.315, p<.001). Factors influencing turnover intention were depression and traumatic events experience with $R^2$ value 16.7%. Conclusion: Considering these results, it seems that the important factors determining the turnover intention of nurses in ED are depression and traumatic events experienced by nurses. Therefore, an active plan is needed to develop strategies for reducing nurses' depression and traumatic events experienced by nurses.
Purpose: This study aimed to examine the factors associated with behavior that reduces exposure to environmental hormones among nursing students. Methods: Data were collected from 160 nursing students in D and B cities, using self-report questionnaires. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0, and the analyses included descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient test, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: Behavior that reduces exposure to environmental hormones differed significantly in terms of the participants' knowledge about environmental hormones. Behavior that reduces exposure to environmental hormones was negatively correlated with knowledge of environmental hormones, attitude towards pro-environmental behavior, and environmental self-efficacy; these factors were significant predictors of behavior that reduces exposure to environmental hormones, and accounted for 27.0% of the variance. Conclusion: Environmental self-efficacy was identified as the most significant factor affecting behavior that reduces exposure to environmental hormones in nursing students. Therefore, it is necessary to develop programs to improve pro-environmental behavior and environmental self-efficacy in nursing students.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate variables affecting health-related quality of life of manufacturing industry workers. The data were analyzed using t-test, one-way analysis of variance, and $Scheff{\acute{e}}^{\prime}s$ test to identify differences among variables. Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression were used to identify variables that affected health-related quality of life. Results: The findings revealed that occupational stress and quality of sleep were statistically significant variables of the physical component score with an explanatory power of 42.2%. Occupational stress, depression, and religion were statistically significant variables of the mental component score with an explanatory power of 43.3%. Conclusion: Continuous monitoring and appropriate intervention for occupational stress, quality of sleep, and depression are needed to improve manufacturing workers' health-related quality of life.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the influence of care stress for older patients, self-perceptions of aging, and anxiety about aging on preparation for retirement in clinical nurses. Methods: This was a cross-sectional descriptive study in which participants were 222 nurses who had at least six months of work experience and were involved in caring for older patients in the last six months at the work site. Data were collected from August to September, 2020 using an online survey questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. Results: The mean level of preparation for retirement in the participants was moderate (3.21 out of 5 points). Among the sub-domains of preparation for retirement, financial preparation had the lowest score. Self-perceptions of aging and aging anxiety were significant predictors for retirement preparation in nurses, accounting for 16% of the variable's total variance. Conclusion: A greater level of preparation for retirement was associated with a positive perception of aging and a decreased level of aging anxiety in the clinical nurses. Further research should focus on exploration of specific determinants of financial preparation for retirement and development of intervention strategies for improving preparation for retirement in the nursing workforce.
