In this study, we aim to develop a carbon-reducing concrete technology by incorporating biochar. Performance evaluation experiments were conducted on concrete mixtures containing biochar with insulating and carbon-capturing properties, which are essential for key infrastructure sectors such as construction and tunnels. Concrete mixtures were designed with different biochar incorporation rates of 0 %, 5 %, 10 %, 15 %, and 20 %, as w ell as w ater-to-binder ratios of 0.25, 0.30, 0.35, and 0.40. To assess the physical properties of each mixture, unit weight, total porosity, and permeability were measured, while mechanical properties were determined through the measurement of concrete compressive and flexural strengths. Key factors for enhancing the insulating effect of carbon-reducing concrete containing biochar were identified through regression analysis, indicating a close correlation among biochar incorporation rate, unit weight, concrete strength, and thermal conductivity. It is anticipated that it can be utilized as an insulating material to enhance thermal performance in northern regions with severe winter climates.

This study was carried to establish a new landscape-oriented gardening model based on climate, vegetation, and forest landscape characteristics. In addition, innovative forest garden models were suggested through an integrated approach to the ecological characteristics of forest vegetation communities and existing garden planting types. For the study, the key landscape elements that make up the main forest vegetation community were identified. And the vertical layers and horizontal distribution patterns of the community structure were typified by diagnostic species and their growth forms & habits such as dominant species, character species, and differential species, and degree of dominance-sociability. Based on this, a standardized vegetation structure and formation was developed by stratifying the landscape into main features, minor features, and detailed features according to visual dominant elements. Also, the applicability of the forest garden model was examined by applying the concept of borrowing landscape to representative deciduous broadleaf forests in the temperate northern region of Korea. Additionally, an integrated forest garden models based on the conceptual definition and typology of forest gardens, and a strategic approach to forest vegetation were proposed
Six field surveys were conducted at 29 locations from April 2020 to April 2022 to identify the freshwater flora of the Taean Peninsula. Based on the collected specimens, the vascular plants of the Taean Peninsula were summarized as 391 taxa: 94 families, 248 genera, 362 species, 5 subspecies, and 24 varieties. Freshwater plants in the Taean Peninsula consisted of 104 taxa, 45 taxa for aquatic plants, and 59 taxa for wetland plants. When classified by life history, annuals accounted for 33 taxa, winter annuals 5 taxa, biennial 6 taxa, and perennials accounted for most of the 60 taxa. Among the 391 identified taxa, 2 taxa of Endangered plants, 3 taxa of Korean endemic plants, 5 taxa of IUCN red list plants, 49 taxa of Korean floristic target plants, 38 taxa of biological resources subject to the approval of outbound transfer, 55 taxa alien plants and 7 taxa of ecosystem disturbing plant. The results of this study are intended to be used as basic data on the freshwater environment and distribution of aquatic plants in the Taean Peninsula.
This study was conducted to understand the characteristics of the plant society in Cheongwansan Provincial Park, which lacks research on plants, and to establish basic data necessary for sustainable vegetation management and provincial park research. This study set up 126 quadrats were installed in Cheongwansan Provincial Park to investigate the species that emerged, and interspecies association analysis was conducted focusing on species excluding rare species. The results were written in a sociogram using the Gephi 0.10 program, modular analysis was conducted to distribute groups between adjacent nodes, and network centrality and structure analysis were conducted. As a result of the analysis, the Smilax china showed the highest frequency of appearance in the survey area. Next, it was found to be high in the order of Quercus serrata, Eurya japonica, Styrax japonicus, and Sasa borealis. Interspecies association analysis was conducted on 69 species excluding rare species, and plant social networks were visualized based on benign binding. The Plant Social Network consists of 69 nodes and 396 connecting lines, and one species formed interspecies bonds with an average of about 17.9 species, connecting each other in 2.3 steps. 69 species were divided into three groups through modular analysis, and the first group consisted mainly of evergreen broad-leaved and trees that appeared in warm-temperate region, and the second group consisted mainly of deciduous broad-leaved. The three groups were mainly divided into trees that grow well in sunny and dry sunlight.

Drug shortage is a persistent phenomenon that poses a public health risk worldwide and occurs due to a range of causes. The purpose of this study is to review key policies to prepare for and respond to drug shortages in selected countries, such as the United States, Canada, and some European countries in order to draw implications. This study reviewed the reports and articles derived from search engines and Google Scholar by using keywords such as drug shortage and stock-out. Over the last decade or so, the United States have strengthened requirements on advance notification for disruption and interruption of drug manufacturing, established the Inter-agency Drug Shortages Task Force to promote the communication and coordination of responses, and expedited drug regulatory processes. Similarly, Canada established the Multi-Stakeholder Steering Committee on drug shortages by involving representatives from central and local governments and private sectors. Canada also adopted a tiered approach to the communication of drug shortages based on the assessment of the severity of the shortage problem and released a detailed information guide on communication. In 2019, the joint task force between the European Medicines Agency and the Heads of Medicines Agencies issued guidelines on drug shortage communication in the European Economic Area. The countries reviewed in this paper focus on communication across different stakeholders for the monitoring of and timely response to drug shortages. The efforts to protect public health from the negative impact of the drug shortage crisis would require multi-sectorial and multi-governmental coordination and development of guidelines.

This study collected 245 questionnaires from college students in Gyeonggi-do and analyzed them using SPSS statistical packages, with the aim of identifying the status of hair loss perception due to the relationship between stress and hair loss received by college students and analyzing the correlation between stress and hair loss perception by type. As a result of the study, it was analyzed that the biggest problem caused by hair loss was 'loss of confidence', and in particular, people who were stressed about career/employment and studies were analyzed to consider the problem of 'loss of confidence' the most serious. As a result of cross-analysis of the general characteristics of awareness and the 'most recent stress' item, and as a result of correlation analysis between stress by type and hair loss status that constitutes hair loss awareness, it was analyzed that all types of stress affect hair loss in college students. Among them, career/employment stress and academic stress were found to be the most influential stress, and in the event of hair loss, it was analyzed that they were more willing to engage in hair loss treatment for career/employment, study, and appearance before interpersonal relationships or economic problems. Therefore, this study is of great significance in that it classified stress by type and analyzed the correlation through empirical research methods by specifying the contents of hair loss recognition into three categories: hair loss status, hair loss management, and hair loss treatment.

This study develops an informal science education program based on a creative design for the promotion of participation and action and explores the validity and effectiveness of the program. The program consists of three mini-projects, namely, The Martian: Surviving from the Mars, So Good to Have Seonjeongneung, and Designing a Sunshine Restaurant, with distinct topics focusing on the localization and contextualization of the region in which the program was implemented to encourage students' participation and action. The researchers selected three topics for each mini-project through discussions and revisions. The program is designed for 42 lessons across the three mini-projects and offers a presentation session in which students present their learnings from the program, constructed to facilitate personal contextualization. Participants included 15 elementary school students from Grades 5 and 6 who took surveys before and after the program. The pre-post surveys comprised two dimensions, 'Participation and Action' and 'Positive Experience about Science,' to examine the effectiveness of the program. At the end of the survey, we added a self-descriptive question that allows students to freely write down their feelings and thoughts. We checked the students' thoughts. The effectiveness of the program was illustrated by the largest increase in the "safe society" category, whereas there was little increase in other categories under the 'participation and Action' dimension in the Korean Science Education Standards. 'Science-related Self-concept' exhibited the largest increase, whereas the other categories displayed little increase from the 'Positive Experience about Science' dimension category.
