  • In the advanced information age, learning is an activity in which learners access information resources through computers and Internet to acquire and evaluate information on their own. The emergence of an online learning platform based on the fourth industrial revolution technology is developing into an environment in which elementary and secondary learners learn and study based on constructivism learning theory. In the online learning environment, the researches on the information retrieval ability of the elementary and secondary learners and the self-directed learning ability were found to be highly related. However, it is necessary to analyze the relation between information retrieval ability and self-directed learning ability through a cross-sectional study that is limited to specific curriculum and contents and expands the longitudinal research. In this study, the panel data of the Seoul Education Longitudinal Study collected over 8 years are used to find the difference in self-directed learning ability according to the longitudinal pattern of information retrieval ability and frequency.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine how flipped learning strategy affects learners' self-regulating ability in both general English and Spanish, based on the study hypothesis that self-regulating learning ability of general English learners will make a meaningful difference in comparison to that of traditional learning. The study was also focused on how flipped learning was related to learners' self-regulating ability. From September 10, 2018 to December 10, 2018, a total of 81 students in general English and Spanish were surveyed in which three sub areas of self-regulating learning (cognitive, motivational, and behavioral control) were considered, and which were divided into six sub-domains, a total of 65 items were composed. Although not very significant results were shown in the case of motivational control, both English and Spanish classes have statistically significant differences in cognitive and behavioral self-regulating learning abilities.

  • The aim of this study is to analyze the effects of the creative writing program that is one of the practical strategy of information literacy on self-directed learning abilities of elementary school students. According to the results, this program raise the average score of 33.69 points from 130.14 to 163.83 significantly in their self-directed learning abilities. Among the specific abilities of them, this program affects learning planning and evaluation capability meaningfully. But the long term continuous of learning executive is not changed significantly by this program. As the results of after interview with the students who take part in this program, the most of them respond that they could reduce their fear of writing and apply the reading and writing strategies to other subjects. So, if we teach this program with subjects consistently and use the learning strategies of information literacy, we could improve the long term continuous of learning executive.

  • Many learners on E-learning databank based selection system making self-directed progress with learning by diagnosis oneself based on automatically selection questions using degrees of difficulty. This methods is most important to choose a questions using right a way for effective self-directed learning progress of learners. This paper present new question selection algorithms consider for degree of difficulty, scope of learning and keyword of questions according to examination type. This algorithm providers more effective learning diagnosis methods as compared with previous algorithm consider for only degrees of difficulty.

  • The study aims to investigate self-regulated learning ability (SRLA) of students and analyze its relationship to their science inquiry skill and affective domain of science in middle schools in Korea. For this end, the research questions include the followings: First, what level is SRLA of middle school students? Second, how does the relationship between SRLA and science inquiry skill look like? Third, how does the relationship between SRLA and affective domain of science look like? A research method employed in the study is the survey utilizing three questionnaires: a) a questionnaire of SRLA (Jung et al., 2004); b) a questionnaire of problem finding ability of the science inquiry skill (Jung et al., 2004); and c) a questionnaire of science affective domain (Seo et al., 2008, adopted from 2006 PISA Student Questionnaire). Responses to three questionnaires by 704 students from seven middle schools in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam in Korea were analyzed. The research findings were as follows: First, mean average scores of SRLA is 3.02 (${\pm}0.63$) in 5 Likert scale (1 = strongly disagree; 5 = strongly agree). Second, students with higher scores in science inquiry skill showed significantly (p<.05) higher scores in SRLA than others. Third, boys scored higher on self-efficacy scale than girls. As students advance their grade level, their affective domain levels of science significantly (p=.048) decreases, in particular, their self-efficacy level most significantly (p=.002) decreases. Fourth, SRLA was significantly (p=.000) correlated with science inquiry skill and affective domain of science. In conclusions, it appeared that the higher SRLA level of students in middle schools is, the higher level of science inquiry skill and affective domain of science is.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate a structural relationship among elementary students' self-determinant learning motivation, teaching-presence and learning outcomes (learning satisfaction, persistence) in blended learning environment. Participants were 5th and 6th grade students who enrolled in a mathematics learning service. The results showed that self-determinant learning motivation had direct effect on teaching presence, learning satisfaction and learning persistence. Teaching Presence had an direct effect on learning satisfaction and learning satisfaction had an direct effect on learning persistence. Based on the results, proper strategies were recommended to facilitate self-determinant learning motivation and teaching presence before and during learning since they play critical roles for the success of elementary students learning outcomes in a blended learning environment.

  • The purpose of the present study is to examine the causal relationship among self-regulated learning, social presence, learning flow and satisfaction in cyber education utilizing electronic media. For this study, 304 students at W cyber university in Korea completed surveys in the fall semester of 2010. The result of this study indicated that there was a meaningful effect of self-regulated learning on learning flow and satisfaction. In addition, we founded learning flow has an intermediating effect between self-regulated learning and satisfaction. Based on these results, this study propose strategies to raise satisfaction by improving students' leading role in their learning.

  • The purpose of this study based on descriptive research is to examine the influences on the self-regulated learning ability due to nursing students' achievement-goal and to make sure mediating effect of autonomous support of professor. A convenience sample of 294 nursing students were recruited from a college in C province from April to May, 2018. Data are analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. As a result, it is turned out that there are positive correlation between mastery goal, performance approach goal, self-regulated learning ability and autonomous support of professor. In the Sobel test results, autonomous support of professor had a partial mediating effect between mastery goal and self-regulated learning ability(Z=3.922, p<.001). So, a new teaching method should be developed through the convergence of related factors of self - regulated learning ability.

  • The present study conducted in two parts toward employees in government office and state-owned companies, and financial companies. First, main impacts were demonstrated in the links between superior communication ability (SCA) and outcome variables (self-efficacy, and learning goal orientation). Second, mediating effects of self-efficacy and LGO were investigated in the relation SCA-Innovative behavior. The data which applied in analysis was collected from 318 employees who work at government office and state-owned companies, and financial companies in Jeju island. The results were as follows. First, SCA were positively associated with self-efficacy and LGO. Second, self-efficacy and LGO were fully mediated both relationships between SCA and innovative behavior. Findings were as follows. SCA is an important factor on self-efficacy and LGO. Such the results have meaningful implications in the research area of communication. The importance of self-efficacy and LGO were demonstrated when considering the both variable in the relations SCA-innovative behavior.

  • This study was performed by targeting nurses majoring in nursing science of Korea National Open University in order to examine the level of their class satisfaction, academic self-efficacy and self-directed learning ability and to identify their effects on self-directed learning ability. Data was collected by targeting 231 nurses majoring in nursing science of Korea National Open University and for data analysis, technical statistics, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed through statistical analysis program. This study revealed that there was significant correlation among the levels of participants' class satisfaction, self-directed learning ability and academic self-efficacy and it was identified that class satisfaction and self-directed learning ability affected academic self-efficacy. The findings of this study could be utilized as base data when developing a program to enhance nursing student's self-directed learning ability and it is suggested that an interventional research of analyzing validity and effectiveness of developed education program would be also required.
