Our interest is to access in some way teh relative odds or probability that a multivariate observation Z belongs to one of k multivariate normal populations with unequal covariance matrices. We derived the empirical Bayes posterior odds ratio for the classification rule when population parameters are unknown. It is a generalization of the posterior odds ratio suggested by Gelsser (1964). The classification rule does not have complicated distribution theory which a large variety of techniques from the sampling viewpoint have. The proposed posterior odds ratio is compared to the Gelsser's posterior odds ratio through a Monte Carlo study. The results show that the empiricla Bayes posterior odds ratio, in general, performs better than the Gelsser's. Especially, for large dimension of Z and small training sample, the performance is prominent.

A class of functions involving divided differences of the psi and tri-gamma functions and originating from Kershaw's double inequality are proved to be completely monotonic. As applications of these results, the monotonicity and convexity of a function involving the ratio of two gamma functions and originating from the establishment of the best upper and lower bounds in Kershaw's double inequality are derived, two sharp double inequalities involving ratios of double factorials are recovered, the probability integral or error function is estimated, a double inequality for ratio of the volumes of the unit balls in $\mathbb{R}^{n-1}$ and $\mathbb{R}^n$ respectively is deduced, and a symmetrical upper and lower bounds for the gamma function in terms of the psi function is generalized.

This paper is motivated by the results in [2], [10], [13] and [19]. We study some properties of generalizations of commutative rings and relations between them. We also show that for a right quasi-duo right weakly ${\pi}-regular$ ring R, R is an (S,2)-ring if and only if every idempotent in R is a sum of two units in R, which gives a generalization of [2, Theorem 4] on right quasi-duo rings. Moreover we find a condition which is equivalent to the strongly ${\pi}-regularity$ of an abelian right quasi-duo ring.

Conventional battery state-of-charge (SoC) estimation methods either involve sophisticated models or consume considerable computational resource. This study constructs an enhanced coulomb counting method (Ah method) for the SoC estimation of lithium-ion batteries (LiBs) by expanding the Peukert equation for the discharging process and incorporating the Coulombic efficiency for the charging process. Both the rate- and temperature-dependence of battery capacity are encompassed. An SoC mapping approach is also devised for initial SoC determination and Ah method correction. The charge counting performance at different sampling frequencies is analyzed experimentally and theoretically. To achieve a favorable compromise between sampling frequency and accumulation accuracy, a frequency-adjustable current sampling solution is developed. Experiments under the augmented urban dynamometer driving schedule cycles at different temperatures are conducted on two LiBs of different chemistries. Results verify the effectiveness and generalization ability of the proposed SoC estimation method.

Park and Kim [4], Grabiec [1] studied a fixed point theorem in fuzzy metric space, and Vasuki [8] proved a common fixed point theorem in a fuzzy metric space. Park, Park and Kwun [6] defined the intuitionistic fuzzy metric space in which it is a little revised in Park's definition. Using this definition, Park, Kwun and Park [5] and Park, Park and Kwun [7] proved a fixed point theorem in intuitionistic fuzzy metric space. In this paper, we will prove a common fixed point theorem for a sequence of mappings in a intuitionistic fuzzy metric space. Our result offers a generalization of Vasuki's results [8].

Despite of the rich literature in discriminant analysis, this complicated subject remains much to be explored. In this article, we study the theoretical foundation that supports Fisher's linear discriminant analysis (LDA) by setting up the classification problem under the dimension reduction framework as in Li(1991) for introducing sliced inverse regression(SIR). Through the connection between SIR and LDA, our theory helps identify sources of strength and weakness in using CRIMCOORDS(Gnanadesikan 1977) as a graphical tool for displaying group separation patterns. This connection also leads to several ways of generalizing LDA for better exploration and exploitation of nonlinear data patterns.

Let R be a ring and M a right R-module, S = $End_R$(M). The module M is called almost principally small injective (or APS-injective for short) if, for any a ${\in}$ J(R), there exists an S-submodule $X_a$ of M such that $l_Mr_R$(a) = Ma $Ma{\bigoplus}X_a$ as left S-modules. If $R_R$ is a APS-injective module, then we call R a right APS-injective ring. We develop, in this paper, APS-injective rings as a generalization of PS-injective rings and AP-injective rings. Many examples of APS-injective rings are listed. We also extend some results on PS-injective rings and AP-injective rings to APS-injective rings.

데자르그 정리와 무한원점이라는 사영기하학의 내용에 대하여, 반례의 수학사적 역할에 대한 Lakatos의 관점을 반영한 중등 영재학생용 교수단원을 개발하였다. 본 교수단원에서는 먼저 데자르그 정리의 반례를 인식하고, 이러한 반례를 제거하기 위해 무한원점을 도입하여 정리를 일반화한다. 그리고 다시 변환을 도입하여 반례가 사실 일반적인 경우와 대등한 것임을 재인식하도록 전개하였다. 이 교수단원에서 영재학생들은, 반례로 인하여 데자르그 정리라는 수학적 지식이 어떻게 변화하고 성장할 수 있는가를 경험할 수 있었다.

The object of this paper is to introduce the notion of semi-compatible maps in fuzzy metric spaces, fuzzy 2-metric spaces and fuzzy 3-metric spaces and to establish three common fixed point theorems for these spaces for four self-maps. These results improve, extend and generalize the results of [16]. As an application, these results have been used to obtain translation and generalization of Grabeic's contraction principle in the new settings. All the result presented in this paper are new.

본 논문의 목적은 IEEE 802.11g에서 제안하는 OFDM 소음과 동조화 에러, 256-State 2/3 2진법 Convoulutional 8-PSK Modulations, FEC 코딩, PBCC를 이용하여 5GHz Band FHSS 방식의 범주에 속하는 12Mbps의 속도를 2.4GHz ISM Band 대역에서 DSSS 방식으로 동일한 속도로 작동하는 전송장치 모델을 구현하여 현재 IEEE에서 표준안 제정중인 20Mbps DSSS의 일반화에 응용될 수 있도록 하였다.
