After the unanticipated financial crisis of Korea in 1997, lots of debates have been held on how to manage the crisis. However, few studies attempt to analyze policy makers' map that shaped and guided various measures for overcoming the crisis. This paper explores cognitive maps and systems thinking of the President of Korea who successfully managed the financial crisis. Futhermore, his cognitive map is compared to that of Prime Minister of Malaysia who overcome financial crisis successfully but in different ways. In this paper the causal map analysis of policy makers is proposed as a promising approach for in-depth investigation of systems thinking of policy makers.

During the past few years, cyberspace and electronic commerce has been expanding throughout the world rapidly. The purpose of this paper is to find out policy leverages for boosting up cyberspace and electronic commerce using system dynamics simulation modeling approach. The system dynamics simulation model developed in this paper allows analysis of both the effect of factors on dynamic growth pattern of cyberspace as well as the effect of time delay in information processing, money transfer and delivery on model behavior. Finding of this study is that capacity of information infrastructure and size of cyberspace population are key factors of cyberspace growth. Also, reducing time delay in information flow, money flow, and delivery flow is an important policy leverages for growth of electronic commerce.

Most model constructs in organization studies are descriptive in nature, and the conclusions relating to the model behavior over time are speculative. The usefulness of System Dynamics as a methodology for modeling and testing dynamic behavioral hypotheses in organizational behavioral studies is presented, and how to construct a System Dynamics model using simulation software(VENSIM) is shown, The well-know March and Simon motivation model is used to demonstrate the step by step application of System Dynamics to model of this type. The dynamic behavior of the model, both transient and steady state, is obtained, Even though the paper has focused on one model in the area of individual behavior, the approach is general and can be applied to other areas of organizational behavior as will. The usefulness of System Dynamics as a methodology for theory building is identified as well.

After the crisis of foreign troubles, various researchers are analyzing the causes of IMF stand-by arrangement in their own ways. But, most research have been lacking in covering the overall aspects of the causes which IMF stand-by arrangement results from. This paper extracts the reasons of IMF stand-by arrangement using Mind Mapping methods and intends to draw up cause ＆ effect map.

If a system such as a port has a large boundary and complexity, and the system's substance is considered as a black box, forecast accuracy will be very low. Futhermore various components in a port exert significant influence on each other. To copy with these problem the form of structure models were introduced by using SD method. The Competitive Ports Model had several sub-systems consisting of each Unit Port models, and each Unit Port model was made by quantitative, qualitative factors and their feedback loops. The fact that all components of one port have influence on the components of the other ports should be taken into account to construct Competitive Port Models. However, with the current approach that is impossible, and in this paper therefore, models were simplified by HFP adapted to integrate level variables of unit port models. Although many studies on modelling of port competitive situation have been conducted, both theoretical frame and methodology are still very weak. In this study, a new algorithm called ESD(Extensional System Dynamics) for the evaluation of port competition was presented, and applied to simulate port systems in northeast asia.

This paper deals with the social system from the point of system thinking consisting the fundamental construct of system dynamics. The Bertalanffy's general system theory, having been criticized because of its ambiguity, and the complex science theory, emerging system theory, are integrated by using the system thinking which is characterized with three concepts, 'feedback thinking', 'dynamic thinking', 'operational thinking'. In the integration, system thinking suggests the dynamic pattern of the social system have not only an equilibrium status but also complex status. The science of complexity gives an implication to system dynamics the important of the uncertainty and complexity if we interpret the social system as an open system. To show more concrete description, I simulate the cooperation model based on the iterated prisoner dilemma. The simulation results show the diverse patterns of cooperation and betrayal. Especially the sensitivity of initial payoff will cause the chaotic strategic landscapes as the game gose on. These results mean that we should not give the hasty prescription to control social system artificially. Because social system retains the self-organizing force in itself.

How to protect the environment without sacrificing the human environment and economy at the level of region is on of the most difficult issues of recent times. The dynamic Interactions between economic activities and environmental pollution control activities determine whether social welfare is increased of decreased by such activities and provides a basis for saying whether they help or hurt the economy. Bureaucratic Approach of Local government has failed, and an Impetus has arisen to develop new tools of analysis, useful for finding policy leverages focused on sustainability. This paper focus on understanding dynamic relationships between regional economic system and environmental system, and presenting possible framework for finding policy leverages in dynamic interaction behaviors. The case, selected in this study, is Nacdong river regions case, which is related many meaningful issues about sustainable development： two big metropolitan government and dwellers have different opinion with regard to construction of large scale Industrial pack, drinking water supply, and environment model consisting of three sectors： regional economy sector, river pollution and drinking water sector, environmental protection and investment policy sector Finally, this paper deal with how to link policy leverage to causal loop structure for the sustainable development of two regions.
