Purpose - The study investigates the role of authenticity of B2B salespersons has on their consultative selling competence. The study also examines the mediating effect of customer orientation between the authenticity of B2B salespersons and their consultative selling competence, as well as the moderating role of trust in the buyer-seller exchange. Design/methodology/approach - This research utilized a covariance-based structural equation model technique. The study assessed the research model's moderation effects through a stepwise approach, which allowed for an examination of the moderating effect of trust in the buyer-seller relationship. Findings - As a result of structural equation analysis, this study found that the authenticity of B2B salespersons influences their consultative selling competence by mediating their customer orientation significantly. In addition, trust in the buyer-seller exchange plays a significant role as a moderating variable between customer orientation and competitive selling competence, but it is not significant as a moderating variable between the authenticity and customer orientation of B2B salespersons. Research implications or Originality - This research proposed the role of authenticity of the B2B salesperson as a key factor in the trust-based relationship and a key variable of consultative selling competence. The study has taken the research on the authenticity of the B2B salesperson one step further from the study of authenticity of the brand and the company's leadership.

Purpose - This study investigates the impact of equity financing on the valuation of R&D investments using a sample of firms from 33 countries from 1997 to 2018. Design/methodology/approach - I use a modified version of the valuation regression widely used in the literature. Findings - I find evidence that R&D investments are more highly valued when financed through equity. In contrast, debt financing does not affect the valuation of R&D investments. I also document that the impact of equity financing on R&D investment valuation weakens during the financial crisis. Research implications or Originality - In light of the distinctive characteristics of innovative investment, previous research investigates its relationship with financing. What remains unexamined, however, is how financing choices impact the way investors value innovative investments. This study seeks to bridge this gap in the existing body of research using a sample of firms from 33 countries from 1997 to 2018, for 22 years.

Purpose - This study aims to explore the influence of emotional discrepancies among investors on the cryptocurrency market. It focuses on how varying emotions affect market dynamics such as volatility and trading volume in the context of Bitcoin trading. Design/methodology/approach - This study involves analyzing data from Bitcointalk.org, consisting of 57,963 posts and 2,215,776 responses from November 22, 2009, to December 31, 2022. Tools used include the Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC) software for classifying emotional content and the Python Pattern library for sentiment analysis. Findings - The results show that heterogeneous emotional feedback, whether positive or negative, significantly influences Bitcoin's intraday volatility, skewness, and trading volume. These findings are more pronounced when the underlying emotion in the feedback is amplified. Research implications or Originality - This study underscores the significance of emotional factors in financial decision-making, especially within the realm of social media. It suggests that investors and market strategists should consider the emotional landscape of online forums when making investment choices or formulating market strategies. The research also paves the way for future studies regarding the behavioral impact of emotions on the cryptocurrency market.

Purpose - In the Korean and Chinese social landscape, it is vital to appreciate the significance of the Japanese history problem. The current study investigated whether the perception of the Japanese history problem affects decisions regarding technology adoption in organizations by comparing South Korea and China. Design/methodology/approach - The study involved 305 Korean and 379 Chinese participants who responded to scenarios and surveys regarding the adoption of workplace surveillance cameras supplied by a Japanese company. Findings - Using a moderated mediation model based on protection motivation theory (PMT), we found that past experiences of privacy invasion significantly reduced trust in the adoption of surveillance cameras at work. This relationship was mediated by respondents' perceptions of security vulnerability. The current study, however, did not confirm any significant moderating effect of the Japanese history problem priming on trust in the adoption of workplace surveillance cameras. Research implications - This suggests that the Japanese history problem may have a limited impact on organizational technology adoption decisions, different from the political consumerism behavior driven by public anti-Japanese affectivity. The current study reaffirms the validity and applicability of PMT and provides both theoretical insights and practical recommendations. -
Purpose - This study seeks to investigate the determinants of global sourcing intention in clothing sewing industry, in particular with its focus on women's knit wear production. Design/methodology/approach - This study collected a unique set of qualitative data through 31 in-depth interviews with fashion brands, promotion agencies, and sewing factories between July 2023 and October 2023. In addition, it analyzed the dataset using the MAXQDA to complement the research findings. Findings - We have two findings. First, the interviewees commonly mentioned the following factors as reasons for considering global sourcing: the human factors(aging of skilled technicians and labor shortages), the financial factors(gap in production unit prices at home and abroad), the relational factors(lack of novelty), and the physical factors(loss of production infrastructure and network), while the human factors(skilled workforce), the production factors(delivery date and product quality), and the relational factors(timely communication and mutual trust) as reasons for continuing domestic sourcing. Additional code analysis of interview also supports this finding. On the other hand, there was also a subtle difference between buyers(brands) and suppliers(promotion agencies and processing plants), and buyers consider the exact delivery date critical so that they could see trend-sensitive women's knit wear on time, and suppliers took production costs, labor costs, and labor shortages, which are financial factors, more seriously. Research implications or Originality - This study provides a richer and more balanced view of existing literature, which has generally tended to introduce global sourcing across the clothing industry despite the existence of various diversity within the industry. In addition, through qualitative research, we introduce that the sewing industry is carried out according to complex factors, and by revealing and categorizing the determinants of global sourcing, we supplement the existing research on the clothing sewing industry centered on survey. On a practical note, this study introduces that there is a difference in view of domestic sourcing and global sourcing between buyers(brands) and suppliers(promotion agencies and sewing factories), suggesting practical implications for revitalizing networks and deriving win-win cooperation network models among members in the future.

Purpose - Focusing on Haier, a successful corporate venture in China, we analyse the operating mechanism and success factors of corporate venture, and reveal the necessary factors for the successful implementation of corporate venture. Design/methodology/approach - This study is a single case study centred on Haier, a successful corporate venture in China. Findings - The operational process of Haier's corporate venture includes six key aspects: project selection, team building, resource allocation and support, project implementation, risk control measures, performance evaluation and rewards. In terms of success factors, the support of top management with leadership capability of value creation and sharing is very important for the success of corporate venture. Secondly, a multi reward mechanism can be introduced to motivate employees and improve performance. Thirdly, it is important to integrate corporate culture into the operating mechanism of an corporate venture. Fourthly, flexible operations that break down rigid organisational boundaries and transform the organisation into a more open platform for entrepreneurship can increase the likelihood of success. Finally, empowering employees with operational discretion can also have a positive impact on the success of an Corporate Venture. Research implications or Originality - This study contributes to theory and practice by analysing the success conditions of corporate venture, providing new understanding and drawing new perspectives, especially from the experience of Haier. The results suggest strategies and flexibility for successfully pursuing corporate venture, and provide important experience for international companies to help them gain competitive advantage in global competition. It also helps corporate leaders to promote new directions and innovations and improve their strategies to respond to dynamic environments.

Purpose - Due to the spread of COVID-19, non-face-to-face transactions are widely growing. In particular, the development of streaming and network technology has rapidly grown the one-person broadcasting market, an influencer market using YouTube and Instagram. However, prior research on the influencer in Mogolian market is very scarce. Therefore, this study aims to identify the factors influencing consumer purchasing behavior in Mongolian market. Design/methodology/approach - We tested a research model of our study through the analysis using survey data of experienced users in Mongolian influencer market. In this study, reliability test and factor analysis, multiple regression were conducted using SPSS. Findings - We found that the characteristics of an influencer and contents in Mogolian market are positively related with brand reliability and contents authenticity, respectively. In addition, the brand reliability and contents authenticity are positively associated with the customer's purchase intention. Research implications or Originality - Since it is the first study of the influencer market in Mongolia, it is expected that it will serve as a guide study for the follow-up studies in the future and serve as a reference for the strategic direction of related companies.

Purpose - This study is based on the Theory of Planned Behavior and aims to explore the decision-making mechanisms of consumers participating in value co-creation activities within virtual brand communities. Methodology - The research involved a comprehensive survey of 405 participants from various virtual brand communities. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used for data analysis, applying SPSS and AMOS to test the hypotheses. The study focused on community rules and regulations, community experience and community trust. Results - The research found that community rules and regulations significantly impact subjective norms and perceived behavioral control, but not directly influence consumer attitudes. Community experience positively affected consumer attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control. Community trust was found to positively influence these aspects of consumer decision-making. However, a gap was identified in the direct influence of perceived behavioral control on actual consumer behavior. Implications - The findings of this study contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of factors affecting consumer behavior in virtual brand communities. It underscores the necessity for community managers to develop strategies that consider these internal decision-making mechanisms, facilitating more effective community engagement. The study also identifies a potential area for future research in the direct influence of perceived behavioral control on actual consumer behavior.

Purpose - In this study, we examine the factors related to the asset allocation decisions of individual investors who 1) directly invest in stocks or bonds, 2) indirectly invest in various fund products (excluding CMA and MMF), and 3) invest in both products. Design/methodology/approach - We collect a sample of 3,000 individual investors and investigate the factors influencing investment behavior, especially the diversification tendency in asset allocation, with the "Investor Behavior Survey" that is conducted jointly by the Korea Financial Investment Association and the Korea Gallup Research Institute in 2011 and 2012. Findings - Our regression analyses estimate the marginal effects of various factors such as the amount of total financial assets, monthly income, occupation, age, and gender. The results reveal that male investors with manual labor occupations were less inclined to diversify their investments compared to female investors in office jobs. Additionally, higher monthly income is associated with a greater inclination toward diversification. Therefore, if a positive relationship exists between income and educational level, we may suggest that higher educational levels lead to a greater tendency for diversification. Research implications or Originality - Interestingly, investors who engage in direct investments tend to exhibit a weaker diversification tendency as the amount of their direct investment increases. On the other hand, investors who engage in both direct and indirect investments show a weaker diversification tendency as the amount of total financial assets increases. This suggests that the investment style of investors is closely related to their diversification behavior.

Purpose - This study examines the effect of consumers' motivations on the perception and purchase intentions of electric cars. Specifically, it empirically analyzes how moral motivations based on personal environmental values and norms in car usage and purchasing influence the perceived usefulness and purchase intentions of electric cars. Furthermore, it investigates whether the influence of moral motivations on perceived usefulness and purchase intentions varies according to the user's driving characteristics. Design/methodology/approach - An online survey was conducted with 234 respondents, by setting criteria for participants as car owners or primary car users within their households, ensuring the sample composition was not biased in terms of the presence or absence of experience with eco-friendly cars. Findings - The research findings indicate that perceived usefulness mediates the effect of consumers' moral motivations on their intention to purchase electric cars. The results of the moderating effect of driving distance on perceived usefulness revealed a significant interaction effect; however, there was no significant interaction effect on purchase intentions. Specifically, for individuals with shorter driving distances, as consumers' moral motivations increase, their perception of the usefulness of electric cars also increases. In contrast, for those with longer driving distances, the increase in perceived usefulness due to moral motivations shows a decreasing trend. Research implications or Originality - This study considered individual driving characteristics that previous research on electric vehicle adoption overlooked, and suggested that setting specific communicating points for electric cars according to driving distance levels might be effective. Lastly, it proposes directions for future research that motivations influencing eco-friendly vehicle purchases may differ based on driving characteristics

Purpose - The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between CEO name uncommonness and R&D intensity while focusing on CEO ownership and CEO tenure as moderators of the relationship. Design/methodology/approach - This study collected data from various American databases such as national data on given names from Social Security Administration, COMPUSTAT, and Execucomp. The sample of this study includes 2,494 (firm-year) observations from U.S. firms between 2005-2011. This study conducts Feasible Generalized Least Square (FGLS) regression analysis to test the hypotheses. Findings - First, we found CEO name uncommonness was positively related to R&D intensity. In other words, CEOs with unusual names prefer being distinctive by increasing R&D investments. Second, we examine the moderating roles of CEO characteristics (i.e., CEO ownership and tenure). The results show that CEO tenure strengthens the positive relationship between CEO name uncommonness and R&D intensity. Research implications or Originality - First, this study extends the CEO characteristics and R&D literature by investigating how CEO name uncommonness affects R&D intensity. In addition, our study also supports the intitutionalization of CEO power arguments by showing that CEOs with unusual names are more likely to pursue distinctive strategies when they have longer tenure. For practical implications, our results allow the investors to better predict corporate future R&D expenses. It suggests that ceteris paribus, CEOs with unusual names, vis-a-vis CEOs with common names, are more likely to increase R&D expenses.

Purpose - The purpose of this study was to analyse the relationship between R&D tax support policy and firm innovation activity using data on firms engaged in 12 national strategic technology sectors. Design/methodology/approach - This study collected survey data from 664 companies engaged in national strategic technologies. The data were then analysed using the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) analysis. Findings - First, corporate R&D tax support had a statistically significant positive (+) relationship with firm innovation performance. Second, there was a statistically significant positive (+) relationship with incremental innovation, but there was no statistical significance with radical innovation. Third, there was a statistically significant positive (+) relationship with the firm's first innovation, but there was no statistical significance with the world's first innovation. Fourth, there was a statistically significant positive (+) relationship with the number of R&D projects of a firm. Finally, there was a statistically significant positive (+) relationship with a firm's open innovation. Research implications or Originality - First, in terms of policy effectiveness, the government needs to consider promoting R&D tax support policies in areas where R&D competition is fierce. For private companies engaged in the 12 national strategic technology fields, the R&D tax support policy is working in the direction of promoting corporate innovation activities, and this positive policy effect is likely to be effective in areas where R&D competition is fierce. Second, if the government wants to improve the quality of corporate innovation activities through R&D tax support policies, it needs to provide incentives higher than the current level.

Purpose - The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of organizational citizenship behavior on unethical pro-organization behavior considering two sub-dimensions of organizational citizenship behavior such as citizenship behavior for individual and citizenship behavior for organization. In addition to this, this study was to identify of the moderating effect of machiavellism. Design/methodology/approach - This study collected 269 sample questionnaires from employees who are working for Korean companies. To examine the hypotheses, this study used hierarchical regression analysis. Findings - First, results showed that there is a significant positive effect of citizenship behavior for organization on unethical pro-organization behavior, but citizenship behavior for individual did not have any significant effect on unethical pro-organization behavior. Second, same with the previous results, machiavellism only had its significant moderating effect on the relationship between citizenship behavior for organization and unethical pro-organizational behavior, not on citizenship behavior for individual. The moderating effect strengthened the positive relationship. Research implications or Originality - Although organizational citizenship behavior and unethical pro-organization behavior are studied many times, but there is no research examining the relationship between these two concepts. these two concepts share the figure that these behaviors are pro-organizational. The only differences between the two is ethical or not. So, this study identified the relationship and moderating effect of machiavellism. In doing so, this study provided novel implications for the researchers of this filed.

Purpose - The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of workaholism according to personality on the job satisfaction of organizational members. Design/methodology/approach - Workaholism was defined as excessive working and compulsive work, suggesting a negative impact on job satisfaction, while predicting that conscientiousness would alleviate this effect and presented as a hypothesis. The unbalanced panel data constructed based on 19,283 samples of 6,863 people from the Korea Labor Institute's Korea Labor Panel Survey was used. Findings - Both excessive working and compulsive working were found to have a direct negative effect on job satisfaction. Additionally, as a result of verifying the interaction effect of conscientiousness, it was found that the negative impact of excessive work on job satisfaction was moderated and alleviated by conscientiousness. In other words, for employees with high conscientiousness, the negative impact of excessive work on job satisfaction is alleviated and the negative impact of overworking is offset, whereas for employees with low conscientiousness, the negative impact of overworking on job satisfaction is strengthened. Research implications or Originality - This study shows that the impact of workaholism on job satisfaction varies depending on personality. While existing research has treated personality only as a determinant of workaholism, this study contributes to previous research in that it expands the role of personality. In addition, in practical terms, it is suggested that differential treatment based on individual values or personality is necessary.

Purpose - This study aims to verify whether the effect of tax avoidance on corporate value is non-linear in the Korean financial markets. Design/methodology/approach - This study believes that the cause of the inconsistent empirical analysis results of previous studies that verified the relationship between tax avoidance and firm value may be an error in assuming linearity, and verifies whether a nonlinear relationship exists. The sample company in this study is a December settlement corporation listed on the Korean stock market, and the analysis period is from 2000 to 2021. In the empirical analysis model, Tobin's Q is used as a proxy for corporate value, tax avoidance is used as the main independent variable, and a regression model is designed with corporate size, growth rate, and debt ratio set as control variables. Findings - As a result of the empirical analysis, it can be confirmed that there is an inverted U-shaped nonlinear relationship between tax avoidance and corporate value. In the additional analysis using Ohlson (1995) firm valuation model for the robustness of the results of the empirical analysis, the same nonlinear value relationship between tax avoidance can be confirmed. Research implications or Originality - This study is considered to be meaningful in that it verifies the non-linear relationship of tax avoidance, which has not been attempted in previous studies. The meaning of the inverted U-shaped nonlinear relationship presented in this study is that corporate tax avoidance acts as a factor that increases corporate value up to a certain level, but rather becomes a factor that decreases corporate value when it exceeds a critical point. These results are expected to provide new perspectives and perspectives on tax avoidance to companies belonging to the Korean capital market.

Purpose - This study examines whether internal control has an effect on stock price informativeness about future earnings. High quality internal control provides continuous assurance for the quality of financial reports, and these future earnings-related information is accurately reflected in the current stock price. Design/methodology/approach - This study collected 12,862 data from 2006 to 2021 in China to make an empirical analysis using the future earnings response coefficient (FERC) and the multiple regression analysis were hired in order to analyze the data. Findings - We find that internal control strengthens the association between current returns and future earnings, indicating that more information about future earnings is reflected in current stock prices. This positive effect exists in both the main board market and the growth enterprise market of China's stock market, especially in the main board market after the implementation of the internal control policy. In addition, we find that the positive effect is weaker for firms that report internal control deficiencies or receives non unqualified internal control audit opinions. The results using earnings persistence yield similar findings, further supporting the results based on the FERC model. Research Implications or Originality - Our tests provide strong evidence that the quality of internal control affects FERC in China stock market.

Purpose - The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the issuance amount of subordinated bonds and firm value, aiming to determine how subordinated bonds are evaluated in the capital market. Design/methodology/approach - To achieve the research objective, this study empirically analyzes all samples of domestic listed insurers that have issued subordinated bonds. Through such empirical analysis, the study aims to confirm the value relevance of the recognized debt and examine how subordinated bonds are reflected in the firm valuation of insurers. Findings - The research finding indicates that subordinated bonds issued by insurers, despite being recognized as debt, did not show a significant relation with firm value. This result suggests a divergence from the typical characteristics of debt, reflecting the distinct evaluation of debt recognized through the issuance of subordinated bonds(subordinated debt) and general debt in the capital market. In this regard, additional investigation into the value relevance by categorizing debt into general debt and subordinated debt revealed a significant difference in the value relevance of the two types of debt. Research implications or Originality - These research findings indicate that the market evaluation of subordinated debt takes into consideration the economic attributes of the subordinated debt. Furthermore, this evaluation is interpreted to account for the regulatory consideration that recognizes subordinated debt as available capital for supervisory purpose.

Purpose - The purpose of this study is to investigate the types and forms of various marketing activities actually used in pharmaceutical companies and to empirically analyze the impact of these marketing activities on sales. Design/methodology/approach - This study categorize five years' worth of marketing activity data from a foreign pharmaceutical company 'A' which operates in South Korea into five categories. Multiple regression analysis and interaction effects are employed for data analysis. Findings - First, CRM calls, Detail calls, GP, and Web events have a positive impact on sales, but SoV does not show significant differences. Second, in the comparison between HQ1 and HQ2 based on patent ownership, Detail calls and Web events had a stronger impact on sales in HQ2, where the patent period is still in effect, compared to HQ1. However, SoV showed no difference between HQ1 and HQ2. Research implications or Originality - First, Detail Calls are more effective for drugs with active patents, while CRM Calls work better for drugs with expired patents. This emphasizes the need to customize call strategies based on patent status. Second, the significant impact of Web Events on sales in HQ2 compared to HQ1 suggests that online information access is crucial, indicating that customer receptivity varies based on product nature. Third, these insights, derived from data analysis, call for a shift in pharmaceutical marketing analysis methods away from traditional approaches. Finally, this study holds significance as one of the first empirical analyses using actual marketing data from pharmaceutical companies in South Korea.

Purpose - This study analyzed the decoupling phenomenon between energy consumption and economic growth in Korea from 1990 to 2021. The main purpose of this study is to suggest policy implications for achieving a low-carbon society and decoupling that Korea must move forward in the face of the climate change crisis. Design/methodology/approach - This study investigated the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth by energy source and sector using the energy-EKC (EEKC) hypothesis which included the energy consumption on the traditional Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC), and the impulse response function (IRF) model based on Bayesian vector auto-regression (BVAR). Findings - During the analysis period, the trend of decoupling of energy consumption and economic growth in Korea is confirmed starting from 1996. However, the decoupling tendency appeared differently depending on the differences in energy consumption by sources and fields. The results of the IRF model using data on energy consumption by source showed that the impact of GDP and renewable energy consumption resulted in an increase in energy consumption of bio and waste, but a decrease in energy consumption by sources, and the impact of trade dependence was found to increase the consumption of petroleum products. Research implications or Originality - According to the main results, efficient distribution by existing energy source is required through expansion of development of not only renewable energy but also alternative energy. Additionally, in order to increase the effectiveness of existing energy policies to achieve carbon neutrality, more detailed strategies by source and sector of energy consumption are needed.

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to examine the connectedness between categorical economic policy uncertainty (monetary, fiscal, trade and foreign exchange policy uncertainty) indexes and option-implied volatility index in Korea, Japan and the US. Design/methodology/approach - This paper employs the Diebold-Ylmaz (2012) model based on a VAR and generalized forecast error variance decomposition. This paper also conducts regression analyses to investigate whether the volatility indexes are explained by categorical policy uncertainty indexes. Findings - First, we find the total connectedness is stronger in Korea and Japan relative to the US. Second, monetary, fiscal, and foreign exchange policy uncertainty indexes are connected to each other but trade policy uncertainty index is not. Third, the volatility index in Japan and the US is mainly associated with monetary policy uncertainty while the volatility index in Korea is explained by fiscal policy uncertainty index. Research implications or Originality - To our knowledge, this is the first study to investigate the connectedness among categorical policy uncertainty indexes and the volatility index in Korea, Japan, and the US. The empirical results on the connectedness suggest that transparent policy and communication with the market in one type of policy would reduce the uncertainty in other policies.

Purpose - This study aims to develop a valid and appropriate method for measuring the economic value of intangible cultural resources. Design/methodology/approach - Building upon the concepts explored in many studies on the total value regulation of public goods or environmental goods, which are non-market value commodities, with a focus on the intangible cultural property Arirang, this study aims to formulate a new economic value concept for cultural resources that contributes to the overall economic total value, including non-use value. Based on this foundation, the study aim to identify and apply the most efficient model(CVM) among economic value measurement methods, as suggested by Tietenberg (2003). Findings - This involves estimating economic value through consumer behavior, encompassing the use or experience of cultural resources, as well as utilizing statements to estimate economic methods through consumer surveys. Only by presenting individual resource economic values of cultural resources in objective figures can a foundation be established for creating budgets and organizational structures to promote projects and policies. Research implications or Originality - Appropriate decisions can then be made by comparing these values with the expected costs in the management and planning process.

Purpose - This study attempted to predict short-term transportation demand using trains and getting off at Gangchon Station. Through this, we present numerical data necessary for future tourist inflow policies in the Gangchon area of Chuncheon and present related implications. Design/methodology/approach - This study collected and analyzed transportation demand data from Gangchon Station using the Gyeongchun Line and ITX-Cheongchun Train from January 2014 to August 2023. Winters exponential smoothing model and ARIMA model were used to reflect the trend and seasonality of the raw data. Findings - First, transportation demand using trains to get off at Gangchon Station in Chuncheon City is expected to show a continuous increase from 2020 until the forecast period is 2024. Second, the number of passengers getting off at Gangchon Station was found to be highest in May and October. Research implications or Originality - As transportation networks are improving nationwide and people's leisure culture is changing, the number of tourists visiting the Gangchon area in Chuncheon City is continuously decreasing. Therefore, in this study, a time series model was used to predict short-term transportation demand alighting at Gangchon Station. In order to calculate more accurate forecasts, we compared models to find an appropriate model and presented forecasts.

Purpose - This study examined the influence relationships between the impacts of tourism development, local attachment, and resident involvement and local residents' support and pro-environmental behavior intentions in Jeju Island. Design/methodology/approach - A questionnaire was distributed to the Jeju Island residents and 373 samples were used for the analysis. Findings - The results showed that the perceived positive impact of tourism development has a positive effect on local residents' support, while the negative impact has a negative effect. Local attachment has no significant effect on local residents' support, while local involvement positively affects local residents' support. The positive impact of tourism development has a negative effect on pro-environmental behavior intention, while the perceived negative impact has a positive effect. Finally, when analyzing the relationship between local attachment, local involvement, and local support for eco-friendly behavior intention, it was found that they all have a positive effect. Research implications or Originality - Theoretical and managerial implications and suggestions for future research are discussed. -
Purpose - The purpose of this study is to analyze Korea's trade relations centered on the MERCOSUR, a major economic integration in Latin America, and identify its problems and suggest measures that can be taken by the government and corporations to reinforce economic cooperation. Design/methodology/approach - To improve the level of contribution of the study, an empirical analysis is necessary. However, due to limited data access, the study will approach the topic of trade relations between Korea and the MERCOSUR with various statistics and literature. Findings - First, there is an urgent need for changes in import-export goods between Korea and the MERCOSUR, as trade is focused on specific items. Second, although foreign direct investment from Korea to the MERCOSUR is centered in manufacturing and mining industries, there should be different investment strategies by countries and industries. Third, it is necessary to reinforce commercial cooperation. Korea currently has Free Trade Agreements with Chile, Peru, and Columbia, but not with MERCOSUR. Therefore, Korea must take active measures to sign an TA with MERCOSUR, which has been put on hold. Research implications or Originality - Latin America has the most thriving market when it comes to Free Trade Agreements worldwide. MERCOSUR is a South American Trade Bloc established by the Treaty of Asunción in 1991 and Protocol of Ouro Preto in 1994. Its full members are Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. However, there is still a lack of research on the MERCOSUR, and corporations that aim to enter the Latin American market face difficulties due to lack of information. By investigating MERCOSUR and its prospects and analyzing the trade relations with Korea, this study will provide strategic measures for corporations that wish to enter the Latin American market.

Purpose - The purpose of this study is to review the export support projects in Jeollabuk-do and to provide implications to the policy makers and to the local exporters. Based on this review, the study proposes future measures to enhance the efficiency of the current Jeollabuk-do export support project. Design/methodology/approach - This study reviews export support projects in Jeollabuk-do, d examines program types and utilization status, and subsequently summarizes the key aspects of Jeollabuk-do SMEs' export support projects. Findings - This study suggests that Jeollabuk-do's export support project can become more effective through active development of overseas markets and professional integration of marketing activities, particularly focusing on regionally specialized export products. Additionally, given the crucial roles played by the government, related agencies, and local offices in improving the export capabilities of SMEs in Jeollabuk-do, there is an emphasis on the need for continuous and systematic follow-up management and the establishment of export support projects and services. Research implications or Originality - While small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Korea account for a significant portion of export activities, their actual export performance and contribution are low. The export competitiveness of SMEs, particularly those located in regions other than Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, is not improving despite various export support projects being promoted. Under the circumstances, this study provide meaningful implications to the policy makers and to the local exporters.

Purpose - The purpose of this study is to analyze cases and suggest implications regarding the exclusion of the agreement tax rate according to the processing process standards of the FTA rules of origin. Design/methodology/approach - In this study, cases in which export and import companies were excluded from applying the agreed tax rate due to the application of processing operation standards after the application of the FTA were analyzed, focusing on the Tax Tribunal precedents, and a literature study was conducted. Findings - The results of this study analyzed through cases of appeal and verification of exclusion from application of the agreement are as follows. Research implications or Originality - Research on FTA cases is active, but this study is differentiated in that it focuses on analyzing cases of exclusion from application of negotiated tax rates based on meeting the processing process standards applied to fields such as textiles and chemicals in FTA.

Purpose - The purpose of this study is to investigate the determinants of consumers' inflation expectations using consumers' inflation perceptions and the sub-components of consumer price index (CPI) basket in South Korea based on a consumer survey conducted by the Bank of Korea (BOK). Design/methodology/approach - Using Carroll's (2003) epidemiological model, we analyzed data from January 2013 to January 2023, resulting in a data set of 121 observations for both inflation perceptions and inflation expectations. This study focuses only on aggregate inflation expectations and perceptions because of data availability from the BOK. Findings - Professionals' forecasts play a major role in forming consumers' inflation expectations, whereas the actual headline CPI and consumers' inflation perceptions do not. These results remain robust when including the sub-components of the CPI basket in the analysis. Research implications or Originality - It would be the most efficient way to suppress professionals' expected inflation in fighting against a substantial spike in consumers' inflation expectations. To guide consumers' inflation expectations based on BOK's inflation targeting, the bank needs to consider professionals' forecasts in devising monetary policies.

Purpose - This study applies the traditional Structure-Conduct-Performance (SCP) model from industrial organization theory to investigate the relationship between market structure and performance in China's banking industry. Design/methodology/approach - For analysis, financial data from the People's Bank of China's "China Financial Stability Report" and financial reports of 6 state-owned banks and 11 joint-stock banks for the period 2010 to 2021 were collected to create a balanced panel dataset. The study employs panel fixed-effects regression analysis to assess the impact of changes in market structure and ownership structure on performance variables including return on asset, profitability, costs, and non-performing loan ratios. Findings - Empirical findings highlight significant differences in the effects of market structure between state-owned and joint-stock banks. Notably, increased market competition positively correlates with higher profits for state-owned banks and with lower costs for joint-stock banks. Research implications or Originality - State-owned banks demonstrate larger scale and stability, yet they struggle to respond effectively to market shifts. Conversely, joint-stock banks face challenges in raising profitability against competitive pressures. Additionally, the study emphasizes the importance for Chinese banks to strengthen risk management due to the increase of non-performing loans with competition. The results provide insights into reform policies for Chinese banks regarding the involvement of private sector in the context of market liberalization process in China.
