개에서 땀샘 선암종과 유선 복합형 선종의 동시 발생 (Concurrent occurrence of apocrine sweat gland adenocarcinoma and mammary gland complex adenoma in a dog)

  • A 7-year-old female Shih Tzu dog with lots of masses in the whole mammary gland was presented to the surgery department of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in the Cheju National University. After surgical excision, all mammary samples were referred to Pathology Department of Veterinary Medicine. Grossly, masses were measuring up to $6.5{\times}4{\times}1cm$ and on cut surface of masses in right 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and left 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th mammary masses were well delineated and firm, sulphur yellow, solid round to oval shape. Microscopically, most neoplastic sweat glands were severely proliferated in dermis and subcutis. Most tubules were lined by round to oval shaped epithelium with eosinophilic cytoplasm, hyperchromatic nuclei with high mitotic figures and severe central necrosis. The neoplastic epithelium also had PAS-positive diastase-resistant cytoplasmic granules, but negative with Perls iron stain. The left 2nd mass was well delineated, and had several dark brown areas and yellowish white glittered areas. Mass was well circumscribed with dense connective tissue. Neoplastic areas contained irregular sized mammary gland with papillary grown luminal epithelial cells in single or double cells layer with mitotic figures and small amounts of proliferated myoepithelial cells. Proliferated myoepithelial cells also produced slightly basophilic mucinous materials. Based on the gross, histopathologic and special staining characteristics, this dog was diagnosed as 90% of apocrine sweat gland aenocarcinoma and 10% mammary. complex adenomas in mammary masses. In our best knowledge, this is the first report for concurrent occurrence of apocrine sweat gland adenocarcinoma and mammary gland complex adenoma in mammary masses of the same dog.

2종 천남성(天南星)의 외부(外部) 및 내부형태(內部形態)에 대한 연구 (The external and internal morphological standard of original plants and herbal states in 2 kind of Arisaematis Rhizoma)

  • In the original plant of Arisaematis Rhizomas, the features of external and internal shape of Arisaema amurense var. serratum $N_{AKAI}$ and A. amurense $_{MAXIM}$. are as follows. 1. In the external shape of original plant, Arisaema amurense var. serratum $N_{AKAI}$ has high stem, an oval-elliptic leaflet and a serrate leaf margin. But A. amurense $M_{AXIM}$ has a relatively low stem, an upside oval leaflet and no serrate leaf margin. 2. On the herbs character of original plant, Ansaema amurense var. serratum $N_{AKAI}$ is small in height and diameter, but A. amurense $M_{AXIM}$ is relatively large in height and diameter. 3. On the gathered herbs character of original plant, the section of Arisaema amurense var. serratum $N_{AKAI}$ is brightly white, easily spilt and strong scent. But the section of A. amurense $M_{AXIM}$ is thin yellowish brown, not easily spilt and weak scent. Also the grade of gathered herbs, both can be classified by diameter and external scent. 4. In the current herbs character, Korean and Sichuan Province products are irregullar shape and have no scent, Jilin Province products are regular shape. Also, Guangxi Province products are small size and concave in one side, Hebei Province products are irregular size and shape. 5. In internal shape of original plant, epidermal cell of Arisaema amurense var. serratum is very tight. With the except of micro difference in parenchyma cell of cortex, on the whole there are nearly no differences with A. amurense $M_{AXIM}$. Also, samely in the internal shape, according to collecting sites, epidermis exhibits a lot layer in curving state and secreting duct is developed and vascular bundle and exists between parenchyma cell of cortex. In the future, additional study is needed to distinguish herb and effect between same genus-degree of relatedness.

담도폐쇄증 환아의 내인성 착색치아에 대한 증례보고 (CASE REPORT OF THE INTRINSIC STAINED TEETH OF PATIENTS WITH BILIARY ATRESIA)

  • 담도폐쇄증은 간장외 담관의 부분적이거나 완전한 파괴 또는 부재로 인한 담즙흐름의 완전한 폐쇄로 정의된다. 이 질환은 대략 10,000명당 1명 정도 비율로 발생하며 여성에서 약간높은 빈도를 보인다. 원인인자는 명확히 밝혀지지 않았으며 증상은 과빌리루빈혈증과 함께 황달, 점토색변, 지방설사, 어두운 갈색뇨, 간비대 등을 보인다. 최근의 담도폐쇄증의 치료는 간문장문합술 단독 혹은 간이식술을 병행하는 경향이다. 본 증례의 환자에서는 다양한 정도의 치아변색을 보였으며 색상은 노란색에서부터 짙은 초록색까지 다양했다. 법랑질의 저형성증이 모든 치아에 나타났고 구강위생이 좋지 않았으며 다발성 우식증을 가지고 있었다.

생화학적 유전표지인자에 의한 한국재래닭의 유전특성 분석 (Analysis of Genetic Characteristics by Biochemical Genetic Markers in Korean Native Chicken)

  • This study was carried out to clarify the genetic constitution of biochemical polymorphic loci controlling blood protein and enzymes as genetic rnarkers in Korean native chicken(KNG) population Blood samples were collected from 230 KNG representing three colored-lines(reddish-, yellowish- and blackish- brown) raised in Daejeon branch of National Livestock Research Institute. Eight blood marker loci, transferrin(Tf), post-albumin(Pas), albumin(Alb), amylase-1(Arny-1), es-terase-1(Es-1), alkaline phosphatase(Akp), catalase(Cat) and hemoglobin(Hh) were analyzed by using starch, agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Based on the gene frequencies of polymorphic marker loci, the genetic characteristics of KNF population was analyzed, and the genetic ariability within population was quantified. The genetic relationships between KNC and other native fowls or improved breeds were also estimated. The gene frequencies of Tf, Pas and AIb loci were similar to those of improved breeds among the seven biochemical polymorphic loci, while gene frequencies of Cat and Es-i loci were remarkably different between KNC and improved breeds. Gene frequencies of amy-i and Akp loci were similar to those of New Hampshire and Rhode Island Red and White Leghorn, respectively. However in comparison with other improved breeds, great differences were observed in gene frequencies of these loci The average heterozygosity, effective number of alleles and homogeneity index for the seven loci combined were estimated to be .334, 1.639 and .373, respectively. Based on the dendrogram and genetic distances, the KNC was genetically closer to New Hampshire, Plymouth Rock and Rhode Island Red breeds than to the White Leghorn breed.

방풍 신품종 "식방풍 1호" 의 생육특성 및 수량성 (Agronomic Characteristics of "Sikbangpoong 1" a New High Variety of Peucedanum japonicum Thunberg)

  • 식방풍 1호는 1990년에서 1995년까지 6개년간 전국에서 수집한 11개 식방풍재래종 중 영덕종 등 4계통을 순계분리한 후 생산력 검정시험에 공시한 다음 그 중 생육특성이 우수한 영덕종과 봉화종에 대해 지역적응시험 및 농가실증시험을 실시한 결과 영덕종이 다수성 순계임이 확인되어 1995년도에 농촌진흥청 우량종자선정 심의회에서 우량품종으로 결정되어 식방풍 1호로 명명되었기에 육성 과정에서 나타난 주유특성과 수량성을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 식방풍 1호는 봉화식방풍과 초장은 비슷하고 주근장은 짧았으나 엽수가 많고 경자과 근두직경은 굵었고 종실량도 증수되었다. 2. 식방풍 1호는 근피색이 황갈색이고 근 형태는 식립원추형으로서 양질의 생약 재 생산에 유리한 품종이었다. 3. 식방풍 1호는 근중 엑스함량과 회분 및 산불용성 회분 함량으로 보아 대한 약전 규격집에 규정된 함량치에 적합하여 생약으로 이용시 유효성을 갖추었다. 4. 식방풍 1호는 토양선층에 비교적 강한 편이었고 내병성, 내습성, 내서성 및 내도복성도 강한 특성을 나타내었다. 5. 식방풍 1호의 건근수량은 생산력 검정시험, 지역적응시험 및 농가실증시험 결과 모두 봉화 식방풍보다 ha당 $10\sim28%$ 증수되었다.

Halo Blight of Kudzu Vine Caused by Pseudomonas syringae pv. phaseolicola in Korea

  • Kudzu vine(Pueraria montana var. lobata) is an invasive climbing woody vine that envelops trees and shrubs, pressing physically and shutting out sunlight, which needs to be controlled. Kudzu vine pathogens were surveyed as a way to seek its biocontrol agents in 2002. Occurrence of a bacterial halo blight disease of kudzu vine was observed at several localities in Korea including Euiwang and Suwon in Gyeonggi Province, Daejon, and Gochang and Buan in Jeonbuk Province. Symptoms of brown to black spots with a surrounding yellowish halo appeared from June and lasted till the rainy season without much expansion, but accompanying often leaf blight and defoliation. Isolated bacteria were identified as Pseudomonas syringae pv. phaseolicola based on physiological and cultural characteristics, Biolog, fatty acid and 16S rDNA sequencing analyses. In artificial inoculation test, these bacteria produced the same halo spot symptoms on kudzu vine and bean plants. They also induced hypersensitive responses (HR) on tobacco, tomato, and chili pepper leaves. This is the first report of a bacterial disease of kudzu vine in Korea, and the bacterial pathogen can be used as a biocontrol agent against the pest plant.

화성 발안리 유적출토 원삼국 및 백제 토기의 정량분석과 고고과학적 해석 (Archaeometric Interpretation and Quantitative Analysis of Pottery from Proto-Three Kingdom to Baekje Kingdom Period of the Balanri Site in Hwaseong, Korea)

  • 이 연구에서는 화성 발안리 유적에서 출토된 원삼국과 백제 토기의 용도와 제작기법에 대하여 고찰하였다. 각 주거지에서 수습한 토기시료는 중도식 무문토기와 타날문 토기 및 백제토기로서 정련상태와 비짐물질의 첨가 등 광물학적 특성에 따라 형태가 구분되며 사용용도가 달라진다. 중도식 무문토기와 장란형토기는 대부분 황갈색을 띠며 취사용기로 사용되었고, 타날문 토기는 회청색을 띠며 저장용기로 사용되었던 것으로 보인다. 중도식 무문토기와 백제토기는 $900{\sim}940^{\circ}C$의 소성을 거쳤고 타날문 토기는 $900{\sim}1,100^{\circ}C$ 정도의 소성을 거쳤을 것으로 판단된다. 따라서 토기의 소성조건은 용도에 따라 조절하여 사용하였을 것으로 해석된다. 한편 모든 토기들은 유사한 지구화학적 거동특성을 갖는 것으로 보아 모두 같은 기원의 태토를 사용하였을 것으로 추정된다.

송아지의 수양성 설사증에 대한 침술효과 (Acupuncture Therapeutics for the Treatment of the Watery Diarrhea in Calves)

  • A consecutive Jiao Chio acupuncture therapy was performed for 3 days in the 45-90 days old 11 calves of which have been shown severe watery diarrhea. The discharge of the infected calves was yellowish brown in color. Two calves of these patients were infected wi pulmonary disease as well as diarrhea. Thus, Su Qi and Fei Yu acupuncture therapy was carried out additionally after dosing with antibiotics twice for The two infected calves. Blood chemical values and serum neutralizing antibody titers were checked, and total blood cell count was also carried out to know the therapeutic effect before and after(21 days) acupuncture therapeutics. The results are as follows ; 1, The diarrhea has ceased one day after begining of the acupuncture therapy in 5 calves, and the cessation of the diarrhea in remaining calves occurred in 1 calf each on 3rd and 4th day, and 2 calves on 6th day, respectively. Two calves infected with pulmonary disease as well diarrhea were cured 8 days after the begining of the therapcutics. 2. Rotaviruses wire detected in the feces of 2 calves, and bovine diarrhea viruses were detected in the 8 calves by the test for serum neutralizing antibody titers, and bovine coronaviruses were also detected in 5 calves. Four calves of the 5 bovine coronavirus infected calves were also infected with bovine diarrhea viruses. 3. Total leucocyte number, total amount of serum protein, and amount of fibringen were slightly increased, while total erythrocyte number, and erythrocyte packed cell volume were slightly decreased. These valucs were statistically not significant. Electrolytes of Na/sup +/, K/sup +/ and Cl/sup -/ were slightly decreased but these values also were not significant. These results indicate that the acupuncture therapeutics arc significantly effective to remove the viral diarrhea in the young calves.

광절열두조충 인체 감염 7례 (Seven cases of Diphullobothrium latum infection)

  • 1986년 10월부터 1987년 7월까지 서울대학교 의과대학 기생충학교실 및 풍토병연구소로 충체 동정 및 진단을 의뢰해 온 광절열두조충의 충란 또는 편절 양성자 중 치료 후 충체가 확인된 7례의 인체 감염을 보고하고자 한다. 환자들은 모두 20대와 40대 사이의 남자들이며, 서울(5명) 또 는 울릉도(2명)에 거주하고 있었다. 그들은 모두 외국에 나간 적이 없었고, 공통적으로 종류 미상의 바다 생선을 생식한 경험이 있었다. 프라지콴텔과 하제를 투여한 후 충체를 수집하였던 바, 총 12마리(1∼3마리1환자)의 충체가 획득되었다. 충체의 길이는 83 cm에서 423 cm의 범위에 있었고, 수태 편절에서 특징적인 rosette형의 자궁이 관찰되었다. 충란은 각 증례별로 평균 61.0∼65.3×41.7∼46.1㎛ 범위의 크기이었고 황갈색이며 난원형이었다. 이 보고로 7례가 추가됨으로써 우리 나라의 광절열두조충 인체 감염 보고례는 총 28례가 된다.

충남대학교 대덕캠퍼스내 상수도 물의 수리지구화학적 특성 (Hydrogeochemistry of Supply Water in the Daedeok Campus of Chungnam National University, Korea)

  • This study was undertaken to evaluate the drinking water quality based on physicochemical properties and chemical compositions of the supply water in the Daedeok Campus, and to verify the analytical reliabilities of ICP-MS and IC equipped in the Central Research Facilities at Chungnam National University , Korea. The supply water belongs to $Ca^{2+}-({HCO_3}^-+{SO_4}^{2-})$type, whereas the original water from the Daecheong lake belongs to $(Ca^{2+}-(Mg^{2+})-{HCO_3}^-$ type. Generally, temperature (14.1$^{\circ}C$), pH (6.95), Eh (0 mV), electrical conductivity (117${\mu}$S/cm) and TDS (86.975mg/l) of supply water were higher than those of original lake water . Results using WATEQ4F revealed that potentially toxic ions of the supply water might exist mainly as free metals ($M^{2+}$) and a small amount as ${CO_3}^{2-}$ and $OH^-$ complexes. Also, the water composition belongs to the kaolinite field. Calculated average enrichment indies of the supply water normalized to lake water for anions, mamor cations, toxic cations and total ions are 1.05 , 1.56, 13.05 and 1.17 , respectively. Those values of the ground water in the Daedeok Campus showed 1.71, 4.78, 5.71 and 2.49 , respectively. However , contents of all constituents of these water are within the drinking water standard. All samples were filtered before the chemical analysis. Pale yellow or yellowish brown colored materials of colloidal particles coated the filter paper to thickness of 0.02 to 0.2mm. these are mainly Fe-Cy-Zn compounds with traces of Ni and Pb, the net weights of which compounds range from 0.01to 3.20mg/l. Most elements did not show any conceivable filtering effect of Cu, Fe and Zn. Especially, mean concentration of total Fe decreased considerably from 168.52${\mu}g$/lto 42.58${\mu}g$/l by filtering .
