  • This paper contains a review of methods to analise static and dynamic properties of trap states in TFTs. The Gap Density of States is extracted from C-V and I-V characteristics. Switch on transients and small signal ac measurements are used in conjunction with simulation and an analytic model to extract traps dynamic parameters.

  • The modified method which determines the extrinsic parameters at the small signal equivalent model for GaAs MESFET is presented. It is important that extrinsic parameters are completely eliminated, in order to calculate exact intrinsic parameters. Extrinsic circuit is established by transmission lines, parasitic inductors and capacitors. After these are extracted by S-parameters, intrinsic parameters are calculated. Especially, frequency dependence of parastic inductance and capacitance is considerally constant.

  • The Markowitz portfolio selection model uses estimators to deduce input parameters. However, the estimation errors of input parameters negatively influence the performance of portfolios. Therefore, this model cannot be reliably applied to real-world investments. To overcome this problem, we suggest an algorithm that can exclude stocks with large estimation error from the portfolio by applying a tracking signal to the Markowitz portfolio selection model. By calculating the tracking signal of each stock, we can monitor whether unexpected departures occur on the outcomes of the forecasts on rate of returns. Thereafter, unreliable stocks are removed. By using this approach, portfolios can comprise relatively reliable stocks that have comparatively small estimation errors. To evaluate the performance of the proposed approach, a 10-year investment experiment was conducted using historical stock returns data from 6 different stock markets around the world. Performance was assessed and compared by the Markowitz portfolio selection model with additional constraints and other benchmarks such as minimum variance portfolio and the index of each stock market. Results showed that a portfolio using the proposed approach exhibited a better Sharpe ratio and rate of return than other benchmarks.

  • In this paper, noise parameters for high frequency modeling of dual-gate FET are extracted and analyzed. To extract thermal noise parameter of dual gate, noise characteristics are measured by changing input impedance of noise source using Tuner, and the influence of pad parasitic elements are subtracted using open and short dummy structure. Measured results indicated that the dual-gate FET is improved the noise figure by 0.2dB compared with conventional cascode structure FET at 5GHz, and it confirmed that the noise figure has dropped due to reduction of capacitances between the drain and source, gate and drain by simulation and analysis of small-signal parameters.

  • A CDTA (current differencing transconductance amplifier) is an active building block for current mode analog signal processing with the advantages of high linearity and a wide frequency bandwidth. In addition, it can generate a stable voltage because all the differencing input current flows to the grounded devices. In this paper, a new small signal equivalent circuit is proposed to analyze a CDTA. The proposed small signal equivalent circuit provides greater precision in analyzing the magnitude and frequency response than its previous counterparts because it considers the parasitic components of the input, internal and output terminal. In addition, observations of the changes made in various devices, such as the resistor (Rz) confirmed that those devices heavily influence the characteristics of CDTA. The designed parameters of the proposed small signal equivalent circuit of the CDTA provides convenience and accuracy in the further design of analog integrated circuits. For verification purposes, a 2.5 MHz low pass filter was designed on the HSPICE simulation program using the proposed small signal equivalent circuit of CDTA.

  • Direct extraction of FET's small signal model parameters needs predetermined parasitic elements usually obtained under forward cold FET conditionl This paper derives analytic intrinsic model for cold FET's and shows that normal cold FET condition can replace forward cold FET condition for extracting parasitic elements. Then, we track the error of hot FET's small signal model bounded by the cold FET condition and examine the validness of cold parasitic resistances by checking the existence of the error minimum.

  • This paper presents a novel approach based on eigenvalue perturbation of augmented matrix(AMEP) to estimate the eigenvalue for variation of controller parameter. AMEP is a useful tool in the analysis and design of large scale power systems containing many different types of exciters, governors and stabilizers. Also, it can be used to find possible sources of instability and to determine the most sensitivity parameters for low frequency oscillation modes. This paper describes the application results of AMEP algorithm with respect to all controller parameter of KEPCO systems. Simulation results for interarea and local mode show that the proposed AMEP algorithm can be used for turning controller parameter, and verifying system data and linear model.

  • This paper presents the design of a Unified Power Flow Controller(UPFC) for enhancing the small signal voltage stability in the multi-machine power systems. Recently a lot of attention has been paid to the subject of dynamic stability. The paper deals with analysis of eigenvalue sensitivities with respect to parameters of UPFC Controller. The series branch of the UPFC is designed to damp the power oscillation during transients, while the shunt branch aims at maintaining the bus voltage. Comprehensive time-domain simulation studies using Pss/E show that the proposed robost UPFC controller can enhance the small signal stability efficiently in spite of the variations of power system operating conditions.

  • In this paper, eigenvalue perturbation theory and its applications for the augmented system matrix are described. This theory is quite useful in the cases where any change in a system parameter results in signifiant changes to most of the elements of the augmented matrix or where the forming of sensitivity matrix so complicate. And AMEP(augmented matrix eigenvalue perturbation) for the excitation system parameters are computed for analysis of small signal stability of KEPCO 215-machine 791-bus system.

  • This paper presents a distributed maximum power point tracking (DMPPT) algorithm based on the reference voltage perturbation (RVP) method for the PV modules of a series PV string. The proposed RVP-DMPPT algorithm is developed to accurately track the maximum power point (MPP) for each PV module operating under all atmospheric conditions with a reduced hardware overhead. To study the influence of parameters such as the controller reference voltage ($V_{ref}$) and PV current ($I_{pv}$) on the PV string voltage, a small signal model of a unidirectional differential power processing (DPP) based PV-Bus architecture is developed. The steady state and dynamic performances of the proposed RVP DMPPT algorithm and small signal model of the unidirectional DPP based PV-Bus architecture are demonstrated with simulations and experimental results. The accuracy of the RVP DMPPT algorithm is demonstrated by obtaining a tracking efficiency of 99.4% from the experiment.
