  • Golf has emerged as one of the key leisure activities in Korea. This study examines the characteristics of golf consumption typology. A total of 256 questionnaires were collected from membership and public golf courses in the Incheon and Gyeonggi district. This study explores user satisfaction with and service at the golf course. The results of this research show that there are primary factors in user satisfaction regarding course facility, scores and operational services. Detail responses regarding these golf courses prove that the whole of the golf course, satisfaction with the course layout, landscaping and user gratification with the golf facilities are influenced by contentment with the management of the golf course. Satisfaction with scores were correlated with user contentment with the golf course. Detailed factors regarding operational services cited such aspects as ease of reservations, staff and tee time, all factors related to the smooth arrangements and progress that are influenced by operational services. This research was more concerned with course design and facility operations than marketing operations, which can satisfy users through investment in variety and expansion of the course facilities. Satisfaction in these areas is correlated to revisits and recommendations to others. The types of membership and public golf courses face difficulty in development, operation, and facilities maintenance, among other features. This paper will help separate out each quality in order to formulate difference stratagems for marketing and operation tactics in the future.

  • In recent years, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has received particular attentions from both practitioners and scholars. This study focused on Korean national fashion businesses and identified various types of CSR practices in addition to social contributions. Besides, comparison in corporation by size of the number of full-time employees and sales volume were examined. A total of 1054 cases of 147 brands, 86 corporations between 2000 and 2012 were collected from internet articles and brand home pages. Findings were as follows. First, the types of CSR activities were categorized into the following six: economic responsibility, legal responsibility, consumer protection, protection of worker's right, protection of environment, and social contribution. Social contribution took largest portion of CSR activities (67.7%), followed by environmental protection (14%), and protection of worker's right (6.2%). The other three types presented limited cases but included negative aspects of CSR. Social contribution consisted of six sub categories (culture & art, sports, education, donation, voluntary service, and campaign), and donation took the largest part of social contribution area. Second, comparing 86 corporations by the size of the number of full-time employees, companies more than 300 employees (38.1%) were more likely to practice CSR activities. Similarly, companies with more than 500 billion won sales (13.1%) were more active in their CSR activities than their counterparts. Suggestions are given for improving CSR practices to fashion business.

  • Under the influence of growing popularity of "hallyu" (Korean wave), corporates that have copyrights such as music, movie, drama as their core competitiveness are showing continuing growth. In Addition, they built on contents are rapidly growing, interests in protection and management of intellectual property rights linked to contents are growing. Global contents development corporates are making great efforts to create profits out of copyrights. They could utilize original contents to strengthen brand value use it to produce additional contents in current market. Also they take advantage of existing storyline of the contents and strong brand to explore new markets. This paper looks into Value articulation model by Professor James Conley and analyzed the firms that utilized intellectual property rights to extend the period of protection, strengthen their competitiveness and succeeded in breaking into new market by using the rights they possess. Also, this paper examines the usage of intellectual property rights and business expansion strategy of of Iconix, the Korean entertainment company, which gained tremendous popularity in last ten years using this model. In Value articulation model, Conley classifies the process of exploiting the portfolio of the single product's(or service's) intellectual property right for a period of time into three stages ; value transference, value translation, value transportation. Pororo's strategy of utilizing intellectual property right is suggestive to domestic entertainment companies. Under the influence of hallyu" (Korean wave), domestic contents such as movies, dramas and music are enjoying the high level of popularity recently not to mention animations. In reality, Korean entertainment companies who have no background or experience of Intellectual property rights are not creating enough added values compared to fast growing market. It is believed Iconix's intellectual property rights management strategy will suggest positive aspects to domestic companies. Moreover, I hope various intellectual property rights management strategies including Conley's value articulation are studied and they can make contributions to managing domestic entertainment companies.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze how the vertical integration, which is the main characteristic of the domestic digital music market, appears in each period and how these phenomena affect the digital music market. As a result, we could find out that the domestic digital music market is a vertically integrated market centered on ISPs. There were a variety of subjects that led the digital music market from the early digital music in 2000s to the latest streaming market. However, ISP was the only subject that vertically integrated all aspects of content, distribution, and consumption through its subsidiaries and affiliated companies. A variety of combined services, supplementary services, and fare plans provided by using its platform and network have become mainstream services in the domestic digital market and have fixed the current transaction type in domestic market.

  • Korean satellite development projects were divided military objectives such as national security, and commercial communication satellites. The First geostationary Korean earth observation satellite, GeoKOMPSAT is a turning point to concern another way to utilizing satellite. In the past, the main concern was the sharp ground images, now days, it is more important to make high added value from satellite data. In particular, environmental payload, GEMS mounted on the satellite GeoKOMPSAT-2 will monitor air quality which is not observed by visual material, may be referred to as case by utilizing the satellite. Satellite data utilization is likely to receive a great influence on the appropriate public policy data. If the public is expected to be fully revealed that potential demand. It is time to change the management policy on the security aspects of weak satellite data. Depending on the expanding use of satellites, it is necessary to investigate the status of disclosing satellite data, and suggests policy options for the distribution of materials for the environment satellite characteristics.

  • Tunnel sections on the expressway are different from rest of sections on the expressway in terms of velocity, the number of passing cars, and vehicle density which, in particular, affect drivers' behavior before and after drivers pass through the tunnel. However, literature review reveals that former studies are too focused on quantitative indicator to consider qualitative aspects. Thus, this study tried to find out qualitative factors affecting speed reduction in tunnel sections based on questionnaire surveys and its analysis in tunnel sections selected by taking consideration of diverse conditions. Analysis showed that factors concerning tunnel configuration (lane width, shoulder width, and tunnel length) related to very long tunnels increasingly popular recently had some effects on reduced speed inside of tunnels. It appeared that visual environment such as visibility of tunnel entrance had an impact in speed reduction and vehicle speed tended to change according to lighting illumination level inside of tunnels. It is expected that continual investment would be made in technological development related to expressway tunnel design and service improvement based on this study.

  • The aim of this study was to identify the impact of community factors on the community-level Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQOL) in Korea. This was a cross-sectional study conducted in 2012 using secondary data(n=209) of the Korean Statistical Information Service. The framework was based on community factors provided by the International Council of Science (ICSU) and community factors were categorized based on six aspects. Multiple regression was applied to community factors depending on the community EQ-5D index. Smoking rate, "Good" self-rated health rate, water and wastewater coverage rate, and financial independency rate were significantly and positively associated with the EQ-5D score. Net migration rate(more move out than move in), obesity rate, unmet needed health care rate, and community type(rural than urban) were significantly and negatively associated with the EQ-5D score. This study identifies association for the impact of community factors on the community-level HRQOL and can provide useful evidence for development of community health promotion policies.

  • Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in females in Sri Lanka and early detection can lead to reduction in morbidity and mortality. Aim: To evaluate selected aspects of breast cancer early detection services implemented through well woman clinics (WWCs) in the Gampaha District. Methods: The study consisted of two components. A retrospective descriptive arm assessed clinical breast examination (CBE) coverage of target age group women (TGW) of 35-59 years in all the WWCs in Gampaha district over 2003-2007. A cross sectional descriptive study additionally assessed quality of breast cancer early detection services. The Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS) technique was used to decide on the lot size and threshold values, which were computed as twenty and six clinics. Checklists were employed in assessing coverage, physical facilities and clinic activities. Client satisfaction on WWC services was assessed among 200 TGW attending 20 WWCs using an interviewer-administered questionnaire. Results: CBE coverage in the Gampaha district increased only from 1.1-2.2% over 2003-2007. With regard to physical facilities, the number of clinics that were rated substandard varied between 7-18 (35-90%). The items that were lacking included dust bins, notice boards, stationary, furniture and linen, and cleanliness of outside premises and toilets. With regard to clinic activities, punctuality of staff, late commencement of clinics, provision of health education, supervision, CBE and breast self-examination (BSE) were substandard in 7-20 clinics (35-100%). Client satisfaction for WWC services was 45.2% (IQR: 38.7-54.8%) and only 11% had a score of ${\geq}70%$, the cut off set for satisfaction. Conclusions: Breast cancer early detection service coverage in the Gampaha district remained low (2.2%) in 2007, 11 years after commencing WWCs. All 20 clinics were substandard for overall CBE and BSE.

  • TV has a very strong influence on various aspects of children's life and development. In view of this influence, various problems related to the content and production of TV programs for early - childhood deserve a careful study. Recognizant of this significance, this study aims to suggest the direction in which the production of TV programs for early childhood in Korea will steer by defining the concept of TV programs for early childhood and by analyzing the current status and trends of producting TV program for early childhood at abroad. In this study, attempts were made to suggest some strategies for the production of TV programs for early childhood based on an expansive literature review. 1. The running time of TV programs for early-childhood ages of 4-5 year old is suggested to be 15 minutes. 2. In the process of producing the programs, a group of professionals including in-service teachers, researchers specializing in child development, psychology and sociology, idea-creators, script writers, media experts, producers, and monitors should provide concerted efforts throughout the process. 3. The running time of TV programs for early-childhood should be less than 20 minutes and therefore should have simple learning objectives. 4. The contents of programs should be organized in such a way as to enable children to view themselves as well as the environment in more positive ways and to fester desirable values and beliefs in them based on various constructive activities and plays. 5. The programs should adopt various techniques including repetition, to ensure the maximum learning effect in full consideration of children's interest. 6. The programs should be continuously revised and supplemented based on the evaluation of the programs, children's responses and monitor's feedbacks.
