  • Objectives : This study is performed to develop the oriental medical rating scale of knee pain and to assess its validity. Methods : 250 knee pain patients completed the previously accepted rating scale of knee pain(VAS, WOMAC(pain, function, stiffness), 6 minute walk test(number of steps, distance)) and oriental medical rating scale of knee pain which was developed by Hwang et al at 2012, before and after the 6 weeks acupuncture treatment. Comparing these results, we assessed the validity of oriental medical rating scale. Results : Comparing oriental medical rating scale of knee pain before acupuncture treatment with VAS, WOMAC(pain, function, stiffness) and 6 minute walk test(number of steps, distance), oriental medical rating scale showed correlation with VAS, WOMAC(pain, function, stiffness) and showed the highest correlation with WOMAC(function). Comparing the change of oriental medical rating scale of knee pain after 6 weeks of acupuncture treatment with the change of VAS, WOMAC(pain, function, stiffness) and 6 minute walk test(number of steps, distance) after 6 weeks, change of oriental medical rating scale showed correlation with the change of VAS, WOMAC(pain, function, stiffness) and showed the highest correlation with the change of WOMAC(function). Through factor analysis of oriental medical rating scale items, 4 factors(pain, swelling, deformation of the knee, thermal sense of the knee), 17 items were extracted. Conclusions : Oriental medical rating scale of knee pain reflected the patient's pain, functional limitation and stiffness well. And oriental medical rating scale reflected the patient's functional improvement after the treatment well.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a behaviorally anchored rating scale for peer evaluation in group projects based on social interdependence theory. A mixed method involving a qualitative and quantitative approach was used in this study. In the qualitative study, both the individual and group interviews were conducted to college students regarding their cooperative learning experiences. Data from this qualitative research was analyzed based on 5 elements of cooperative learning and 'critical incidents' were extracted from students' own voices that would serve as specific rating criteria in the scale. Once the 'critical incidents' have been incorporated into the scale, validation from 3 independent experts was conducted. In the quantitative study, correlations with relevant variables were analyzed to examine the criteria-referenced validity. Findings suggest that the behaviorally anchored rating scale for peer evaluation in group projects can be used in various team-based learning contexts.

  • The purpose of this study were to develop a rating scale for screening preschoolers' creative characteristics and to examine the validity and reliability of this scale. The subjects were 85 4-5 year olds, their mothers, and teachers in Seoul. The preliminary scale of the Rating Scale for Creative Characteristics of Preschoolers(RSCCP)'was developed as a 47-item 5-point rating scale and consisted of 5 factors. 5 factors. 5 factors were 'uniqueness=-curiosity', 'openness-humor', 'sensitivity-many interest', 'imagination-playfulness', and 'independence-perseverance'. The inter-correlations among the 5 factors ranged from .31-.71. For the criterion validity, Wallach & Kogan's Creativity Test(Foster, 1971) and children's drawing were used, and for the convergence validity, the scores rated by mothers and the scores rated by leachers were compared. Test-retest reliability was .69 and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ ranged from .76-.90. There found no significant correlations between the RSCCP scale and the 2 criterion tests, and the paired t-test for the total scores of the scale rated by the mothers and the teachers showed no differences.

  • The purposes of this study are to present the criteria for a sensibility rating scale for measuring the general women's perception of museums' spatial environment, through an empirical analysis; and to clarify the characteristics of the presented rating scale in terms of each rating element and factor. For this study, a survey was conducted during August 19 - September 16, 2010, and a total of 342 museum visitors participated in the survey. A sensibility rating scale used for the survey consisted of a total of 32 adjectives selected from a literature review of previous studies. To specify the dimensions of semantic space using the semantic adjectives, words with opposite meanings were analyzed with the semantic differential technique developed by Osgood et al. Using SPSS, a reliability analysis, factor analysis were conducted on the data obtained from the survey. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: According to the women's perception of museums' spatial environment, six factors were found from the 25 semantic ratings of the Museum. The summarized criteria were: 'aesthetic', 'pleasant', 'valuable', 'function', 'affinity', and 'material.' The derived criteria were verified through an empirical test using emotional adjectives. In the coming years, the results of this study will serve as valuable data for constructing a sensibility rating scale for evaluating spatial environments of museums.

  • This study was aimed to validate the Infant/Toddler Environment Rating scale (ITERS). The rating scale was translated and adjusted appropriately by two researchers majoring child studies. An item-by-item comparison of the ITERS with criteria of NAEYC was conducted as the measure of content validity. 88% of the items of the ITERS was covered on the NAEYC criteria. Criterion validity was assessed by comparing ITERS scores and the Assessment Profile for early childhood Programs scores. The total correlation of two scores was .87. The sample for the inetrater reliability and internal consistency studies included 30 infant/toddler classes in 30 day care center in Inchon city. Two observers independently rated each class on the ITERS during a single visit. The Spearman's correlation coefficient for interater reliability on the overall scale was .74. For the measure of internal consistency, the Cronbach's Alpha score on the overall scale was .93. The rating results show that national/public child care centers have better quality in Adult Needs and Learning Activities subscales than private child care centers have.
