  • This paper is a natural continuation of [2], [3], [4] and [5]. Localization techniques for modular lattices are developed. These techniques are applied to study liftings of linear order types from quotient lattices and to find Г-dense sets in certain lattices without Г-deviation in the sense of [4], where Г is a set of indecomposable linear order types.

  • We describe a construction which takes as an input a left order of the fundamental group of a manifold, and outputs a (singular) foliation of this manifold which is analogous to a taut foliation. We investigate this construction in detail in dimension 2, and exhibit connections to various problems in dimension 3.

  • The surface morphology of oil-lubricated surface for hydraulic piston motor is believed to be extremely effective in contact mechanics. adhesion. friction and wear. In order to describe morphology of various rubbed surface on driving condition, the wear test was carried out under different experimental conditions in oil-lubricated system. And fractal descriptors was applied to rubbed surface of hydraulic members with image processing system. These descriptors to analyze surface structure are fractal dimension. Surface fractal dimension can be determined by sum of intensity difference of surface pixel. Morphology of rubbed surface can be effectively obtained by fractal dimension.

  • In order to facilitate the process of designing a fusion curriculum, this study used the learning outcomes presented in KEC2015 to design a fusion goal dimension. The three dimensions of fusion education in the fusion curriculum framework are fusion goals, fusion approach and fusion context. As a result of examining the curriculum learning activities in order to confirm that the developed curriculum meets these three dimensions, it can be confirmed that it contributes relatively evenly to the fusion goal, fusion approach and fusion context dimension. In addition, it provides a procedure to develop the fusion curriculum through the concrete procedures and examples from the design to implementation of the developed fusion curriculum, and to confirm the result of the fusion dimension.

  • The dimension problem has been one of central themes in the theory of ordered sets. In this paper we focus on amalgamated ordered sets. Although some results can be obviously applied to infinite cases, we assume throughout that all ordered set are finite. If A and B are ordered sets whose orders agree on A.cap.B, then the amalgam of A and B is defined to the the set A.cup.B in which the order is the transitive closure of the union of the two orders, i.e., the smallest order containing the two orders, and is denoted by A .or. B .leq. dim A + dim B for any ordered sets A and B. But it is quite surprising that the dimension of the amalgam of certain 2-dimensional ordered sets can be arbitrarily large.

  • In order to effectively relieve the traffic pressure of the city, ensure the smooth flow of freight and promote the development of the logistics industry, the selection of appropriate port logistics location is the basis of giving full play to the port logistics function. In order to better realize the selection of port logistics, this paper adopts the entropy weight method to set up a multi-dimensional evaluation index, and constructs the evaluation model of port logistics location. Then through the actual case, from the environmental dimension and economic competition dimension to make choices and analysis. The results show that port d has the largest logistics competitiveness and the highest relative proximity among the three indicators of hinterland city economic activity, hinterland economic structure, and port operation capacity of different port logistics locations, which has absolute advantages. It is hoped that the research results can provide a reference for the multi-dimensional selection of port logistics site selections.

  • Gate poly-silicon critical dimension is a prime characteristic of a metal-oxide-semiconductor field effect transistor. It is important to achieve the uniformity of gate poly-silicon critical dimension in order that a semiconductor device has acceptable electrical test characteristics as well as a semiconductor wafer fabrication process has a competitive net-die-per-wafer yield. However, on gate poly-silicon critical dimension, the complexity associated with a semiconductor wafer fabrication process entails hierarchical variance components according to run-to-run, wafer-to-wafer and even die-to-die production unit changes. Specifically, estimates of the hierarchical variance components are required not only for disclosing dominant sources of the variation but also for testing the wafer-level uniformity. In this paper, two experimental designs, a two-stage nested design and a randomized complete block design are considered in order to estimate the hierarchical variance components. Since gate poly-silicon critical dimensions are collected from fixed die positions within wafers, a factor representing die positions can be regarded as fixed in linear statistical models for the designs. In this context, the two-stage nested design also checks the wafer-level uniformity taking all sampled runs into account. In more detail, using variance estimates derived from randomized complete block designs, Duncan's multiple range test examines the wafer-level uniformity for each run. Consequently, a framework presented in this study could provide guidelines to practitioners on estimating the hierarchical variance components and testing the wafer-level uniformity in parallel for any characteristics concerned in semiconductor wafer fabrication processes. Statistical analysis is illustrated for an experimental dataset from a real pilot semiconductor wafer fabrication process.

  • In this paper, we performed a class of experiments on segmenting consonant and vowel from Korean consonant-vowel (CV) monosyllable data, using the fractal dimension of the speech signals. We chose the Minkowski-Bouligand dimension as the fractal dimension, and computed it using the morphological covering method. In order to examine the usefulness of the fractal dimension in speech segmentation we carried out speech segmentation experiments using the fractal dimension alone, using the short-time energy alone, and using both the fractal dimension and the short-time energy, and compared the results. From the experiments, segmentation accuracy of $96.1\%$ was achieved for the case with using the multiplication of the slope of the fractal dimension and that of the energy, while the segmentation accuracies for the cases with using the slope of either the fractal dimension or energy alone were slightly lower $(93.6\%)$ or much lower $(88.0\%)$ than the above case, respectively. These results indicate that the fractal dimension can be used as a good parameter for speech segmentation.

  • Pavement management systems require systematic monitoring of pavement surfaces to determine preventive and corrective maintenance. The process involves the accumulation of large amounts of visual data, typically obtained from site visitation. The pavement surface condition is then correlated to a pavement distress index that is based on a scoring system previously established by state or federal agencies. The scoring system determines if the pavement section requires maintenance, overlay or reconstruction. One of the surface distresses forming part of the overall pavement distress index is the Alligator Crack Index (AC Index). The AC Index involves the visual evaluation of the crack severity of a section of a pavement as being low, medium, or high. This evaluation is then integrated into a formula in order to obtain the AC Index. In this study a quantification of the visual evaluation of the severity of alligator cracking is carried out using photographs and the fractal dimension concept from fractal theory. Pavements with low levels of cracking were found to have a fractal dimension equal to 1.051. Pavements with moderate levels of cracking had a fractal dimension equal to 1.1754. Pavements with high degrees of cracking had a fractal dimension that varied between 1.5037 (high) and 1.7111 (very high). Pavements with a level of cracking equal to 1.8976 represented pavements that disintegrated and developed potholes. Thus, the visual evaluation of the state of cracking of a pavement (the AC Index) could be enhanced with the use of the fractal dimension concept from fractal theory.
