  • This paper presents a stability analysis of network systems with time delay. Time delay problem frequently occurs in network systems. Since it makes network systems unstable and unpredictable, an optimal controller is necessary to network systems. We prove the asymptotical stability of time delayed network systems using LMI optimization method and appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals. Simulations show the effectiveness of the method.

  • A new discrete-time fuzzy output feedback control method for nonlinear systems with unknown time-delay is proposed. Ma et al. proposed an analysis and design method of fuzzy controller and observer and Cao et al. extend this result to be applicable fir the nonlinear systems with known time-delay. For the case of unknown time-delay, we derive the sufficient condition f3r the asymptotic stability of the equilibrium Point by applying Lyapunov-Krasovskii theorem and convert this condition into the LMI problem.

  • This paper deals with the consensus problem for multi-agent linear dynamic systems with communication delay. All the agents are identical high-order linear systems and their state information is exchanged through a communication network with constant communication delay. It is shown that a consensus is achieved if there exists a feasible solution to a set of linear matrix inequalities obtained for a simultaneous stabilization problem for multiple systems with delay. A numerical example is presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • An output time delay always exists in practical systems. Analysis of the delay phenomenon in a continuous-time domain is sophisticated. It is appropriate to obtain its corresponding discrete-time model for implementation via a digital computer. A new method for the discretization of nonlinear systems using Taylor series expansion and the zero-order hold assumption is proposed in this paper. This method is applied to the sampled-data representation of a nonlinear system with a constant output time-delay. In particular, the effect of the time-discretization method on key properties of nonlinear control systems, such as equilibrium properties and asymptotic stability, is examined. In addition, 'hybrid' discretization schemes resulting from a combination of the 'scaling and squaring' technique with the Taylor method are also proposed, especially under conditions of very low sampling rates. A performance of the proposed method is evaluated using two nonlinear systems with time-delay output.

  • This paper proposes a new method to obtain a maximum allowable delay bound for a scheduling of networked discrete control systems and event-based scheduling method. The proposed method is formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities and can give a much less conservative delay bound than the existing methods. A network scheduling method is presented based on the delay obtained through the proposed method, and it can adjust the sampling period to allocate same utilization to each control loop. The presented method can handle three types of data (sporadic, emergency data, periodic data and non real-time message) and guarantees real-time transmission of periodic and sporadic emergency data using modified EDF scheduling method.

  • This article surveys the control theoretic study on time delay systems. Since time delay systems are infinite dimensional, there are not analytic but numerical solutions on almost analysis and synthesis problems, which implies that there are a tremendous number of approximated solutions. To show how to find such solutions, several results are summarized in terms of two different axes: 1) theoretic tools like integral inequality associated with the derivative of delay terms, Jensen inequality, lower bound lemma for reciprocal convexity, and Wirtinger-based inequality and 2) various candidates for Laypunov-Krasovskii functionals.

  • This paper presents a delay-dependent approach to robust filtering for linear parameter-varying (LPV) systems with discrete and distributed time-invariant delays in the states and outputs. It is assumed that the state-space matrices affinely depend on parameters that are measurable in real-time. Some new parameter-dependent delay-dependent stability conditions are established in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) such that the filtering process remains asymptotically stable and satisfies a prescribed $H_{\infty}$ performance level. Using polynomially parameter-dependent quadratic (PPDQ) functions and some Lagrange multiplier matrices, we establish the parameter-independent delay-dependent conditions with high precision under which the desired robust $H_{\infty}$ filters exist and derive the explicit expression of these filters. A numerical example is provided to demonstrate the validity of the proposed design approach.

  • An improved linear matrix inequality (LMI) representation of delay-independent $H_2$ performance analysis is introduced for linear delay systems with delays of any size. Based on this representation we propose a new $H_2$ memoryless state feedback design. By introducing a new matrix variable, the new LMI formulation enables us to parameterize memoryles s controllers without involving the Lyapunov variables in the formulations. By using a parameter-dependent Lyapunov function, this new representation proposed here provides us the results with less conservatism.
