In mathematics education we have focused on how to improve the problem-solving ability, which makes its way to the new direction with the introduction of meta-cognition. As meta-cognition is based on cognitive activity of learners and concerned about internal properties, we may find a more effective way to generate learners problem-solving power. Its means that learners can regulate cognitive process according to their gorls of learning by themselves. Moreover, they are expected to make active participation through this process. If specific meta problems designed to develop meta-cognition are offered, learners are able to work alone by means of their own cognition and regulation while solving problems. They can transfer meta-cognition to the other subjects as well as mathematics. The studies on meta-cognition conducted so far may be divided into these three types. First in Flavell([3]) meta-cognition is defined as the matter of being conscious of one's own cognition, that is, recognizing cognition. He conducted an experiment with presschoolers and children who just entered primary school and concluded that their cognition may be described as general stage that can not link to specific situation in line with Piaget. Second, Brown([1], [2]) and others argued that meta-cognition means control and regulation of one's own cognition and tried to apply such concept to classrooms. He tried to fined out the strategies used by intelligent students and teach such types of activity to other students. Third, Merleary-Ponty (1962) claimed that meta-cognition is children's way of understanding phenomena or objects. They worked on what would come out in children's cognition responding to their surrounding world. In this paper following the model of meta-cognition produced by Lester ([7]) based on such ideas, we develop types of meta-cognition. In the process of meta-cognition, the meta-cognition working for it is to be intentionally developed and to help unskilled students conduct meta-cognition. When meta-cognition is disciplined through meta problems, their problem-solving power will provide more refined methods for the given problems through autonomous meta-cognitive activity without any further meta problems.

Recently, there is a discussion about culture theory in the area of traffic safety regulation. It has the view that the subject of criticism, etc. by drivers' regulation interpretation, awareness about the danger of regulation violation and nonacceptance of regulation can be changed according to the way drivers' cultural bias was formed. According to the culture theory, fundamental views of the world in particular social relations surrounding individuals, world view or cosmology, are formed and the world view makes an effect on individual behavior and attitude. In this context, cultural cognition and cultural learning theory which are suggested in Christoph Wulf's study on historical-cultural anthropology provide new approach toward this phenomenon. According to his insistence, core mechanisms which can explain cultural cognition and cultural learning are systematized by five things; physical characteristic, mimesis, performance theory, rite and image. The purpose of this research is to investigate the changes by the way Korean people cognize traffic regulations culturally and experiences of traffic regulation violation through the analytic frame of Christoph Wulf's five core mechanisms. To achieve it, cognition of traffic culture was analyzed by analytical phenomenology for drivers who had been educated due to their violation of traffic regulations. Value, lifestyle and practicing methods which are pursued by people work in sociocultural context rather than are influenced by cognitive structure of individuals.

The purpose of this study was to analyze that mother's daily hassles, children's cognitive regulation and children's emotive regulation are prospectively related on children's school readiness and to investigated the mediating role of children's cognitive regulation and children's emotive regulation between mother's daily hassles and children's school readiness. Also in particular children's sex. This study used data from 273 preschooler and their mothers from kindergartens and child care centers located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The data was processed by SPSS 24.0 and Mplus 6.0. Pearson's correlation, confirmatory factor analysis(CFA), structural equation modeling(SEM), multi group analysis were used to find out the relationships and mediating effect. The results of this study were as follows: First, mother's hassles had a direct effect on children's cognitive regulation and children's emotive regulation. However, mother's hassles didn't have a direct effect on physical health and motor development, cognition development and general knowledge, social-emotional development, and life habit and attitude. Second, children's cognitive regulation had a direct effect on physical health and motor development, cognition development and general knowledge. And children's emotive regulation had a direct effect on social-emotional development. Third, children's cognitive regulation fully mediated the relation between mother's hassles and physical health and motor development, cognition development and general knowledge of school readiness. Also, children's emotive regulation fully mediated the relation between mother's hassles and social-emotional development of school readiness. Forth, mother's hassles had a little effect on boy's cognitive regulation, but boy's cognitive regulation had effect on physical health and motor development of school readiness stronger than girls.

The purpose of this review is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the intricate relationships between cognitive control, depression, and emotion regulation. Cognitive control, encompassing processes such as attentional control, inhibitory control, and cognitive flexibility, plays a central role in regulating thoughts, behaviors, and emotions in alignment with internal goals and external demands. Depression, characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and cognitive impairments, is associated with deficits in cognitive control processes. Emotion regulation strategies, such as cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression, enable individuals to modulate emotional experiences and responses. The bidirectional relationships between cognitive control, depression, and emotion regulation underscore the complexity of cognitive and emotional processes in depression. Understanding these relationships is crucial for developing targeted interventions aimed at promoting cognitive and emotional well-being and preventing depression onset and recurrence. Moreover, recognizing the roles of cognitive control and emotion regulation in depression holds promise for informing clinical practice and enhancing therapeutic interventions. This review highlights the importance of considering cognitive control and emotion regulation in the assessment and treatment of depression and provides insights for future research and clinical practice.

Our objective is to investigate the various variables that influence the purchase intention of small enterprise products and to interpret the impact of these variables in terms of individual differences. Need for cognition, need for uniqueness, and self-regulation are selected to explain the choice or purchase intention. The major reasons that consumers are reluctant to purchase small enterprise products are mainly due to problems in quality and distribution channel. When these problems are resolved, it is interesting to see how the individual differences affect purchase intention for small enterprise products and how the impacts will be changed. Previous studies assumed uni-dimensionality of need for cognition and need for uniqueness. We relaxed the assumption, incorporated the nature of multi-dimensionalities for these variables and showed that sub-dimensions of these variables have different effects on the purchase intention. After improving the conditions of quality or distribution channel, promotion focus and prevention focus for sub-dimensions of self-regulation have positive impacts on the purchase intention and sub-dimensions of need for cognition and need for uniqueness have enhancing or reducing effects on purchase intention. These results can be interpreted that consumers expect some levels of quality or distribution channel to reach consumer choice. Results for cluster analysis showed that how sub-dimensionalities of individual difference variables are combined to form groups and how these groups are related to purchase intention. Emphasis of quality over price has a negative correlation with purchase intention of small enterprise products.
In this research, we explore whether mere exposure to external cues with vertical progress (e.g., moving upward or moving downward) can influence individuals' persistence to complete focal tasks. Drawing on the theory of embodied cognition, we propose that, a moving-upward (vs. downward) cue activates the abstract concept of difficulty, which is associated with the physical experience of climbing uphill (vs. downhill). Due to this association between moving uphill and difficulty, merely exposing individuals to the moving-upward cue can induce greater feeling of difficulty and this greater difficulty, in turn, reduce individuals' persistence, compared to exposing individuals to the moving-downward cue. Across three studies, we find supporting evidence for the effect of the external cues with vertical progress on individuals' performance both in physical tasks and in a cognitive task.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of mother's acceptance parenting attitude and optimism on children's self-regulation including cognitive, emotional, and behavioral regulation. Methods: The subjects were 361 3, 4, 5 - year - old children and their mothers who attended to the early childhood education institutions. One-way ANOVA was conducted to find out age differences in self-regulation. The regression analysis were conducted to find out whether the mother's optimism could predict their children's self-regulation. The stepwise regression analysis were conducted to find out whether the mother's acceptance parenting attitude could predict their children's self-regulation. Results: As for the self-regulation, there were significant age differences in the cognitve regulation and the behavioral regulation, but not in the emotional regulation. It implies that the abilities of cognitive and behavioral regulation increase as the age level goes up. As for the relations between mother's optimism and their children's self-regulation, only the permanence factor of the mother's optimism predicted children's cognitive, emotional, and behavioral regulation. As for the relations between mother's acceptance parenting attitude and their children's self-regulation, two components of mother's acceptance parenting attitude (unconditionally love & right) could predict children's cognitive, emotional, and behavioral regulation. The component of unique could predict the cognitive and emotional regulation. Conclusion/Implications: These results suggest that mother's optimism and acceptance parenting attitude positively affect on the development of self-regulation ability in children.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the path model about the emotional intelligence of multicultural preschoolers'. Multicultural mothers(N = 89) were administered questionnaires on social support, marital satisfaction, depression and mother-child relationship. Teachers(N = 89) were administered a questionnaire on preschoolers' emotional intelligence. The results indicates three things. First, social support effects marital satisfaction directly and mothers' depression indirectly. Second, mothers' depression effects preschoolers' self regulation and other regulation directly. And third, social support, marital satisfaction, mothers' depression effects preschoolers' self cognition indirectly through parent-child relationship.
The purpose of the study was to investigate which psychological factors influence on the gifted students' achievement. As a psychological factor, self-determination, learning goal-orientation, self-efficacy, belief of intelligence, and self-regulated learning strategy were examined. The difference in psychological factors between the gifted with high achievement and the gifted with low achievement was to explored. For the study 128 gifted students' data from second-year data of Korean Education Longitudinal Study (KELS) were selected and analyzed. The findings indicate that the predictors of gifted students' achievement are extrinsic regulation, identified regulation, mastery-approach goal, self-efficacy, elaboration, and meta-cognition factor. Especially, the factor of elaboration and identified regulation are the strongest predictors. The findings from t-test analysis indicate that the gifted with low achievement show the low level in self-determination, mastery-approach, self-efficacy, elaboration, meta-cognition, place management and seeking social assistance from teacher. Therefore the developing elaboration, one of regulation learning strategy, is essential to improve the achievement of the gifted students with low scores.
