  • This study starts from the perspective that preparing students for employment is the most important role of undergraduate degree programs. Therefore, we examine the determinants of undergraduate employment, especially highlighting the differences by disciplines. We classify 28 factors into five categories such as personal attributes, entrance attributes, students’ employment-related activities, regular curriculum and employability programs provided by universities. This study is based on data from 7,616 students from a Korean university over four and half years. Findings reveal that university efforts are crucial in engineering. Only exchange programs and employment programs have an impact on science. There are no specific factors in humanities and social science. Grade point average and students’ efforts are important in business. Face-to-face coaching in employability support programs is effective for securing employment except in science disciplines. The study results do not point to the absence of a role of university even in the low employment disciplines. Rather, the issue is that of an over-supply of graduates exceeding job offers that results from the worldwide expansion of higher education services.

Undergraduate students are grouped into senior year (3rd and 4th grades) and junior year(1st and 2nd year) by the year in the university, As a result of analyzing 454 undergraduate students (105 in the junior group and 349 in the senior group), it was found that graduation attitude had a negative (-) effect on the dropout intention in both junior and senior group. The effect of employment prospects, and major aptitude and career firt on graduation attitude was not found in the junior group. However, in senior group, the effect of employment prospects, and major aptitude and career firt on graduation attitude was found to have a positive (+) effect, indicating that moderating effect of academic year does exist.

  • There is a growing interest on entrepreneurship for undergraduate students to enhance their employment ratio because they have big difficulty in getting a job in Korea as well as Vietnam. Currently, on-line business is booming because customers feel convenience in approaching on-line store. Therefore, this study has explored identifying the factors to affect entrepreneurial intention of being e-commerce trader for the undergraduates in Korean universities as well as Vietnam universities. In addition to this, the study has also investigated the difference of the results between Korea and Vietnam. The results of the study are as follows ; First, entrepreneurial knowledge affects positively on entrepreneurial intention for being e-commerce trader. Second, employment barrier also affects positively on entrepreneurial intention for being e-commerce trader. Third, social perception on entrepreneurship mediates the relationship between employment barrier and entrepreneurial intention for being e-commerce trader. Lastly, the level of entrepreneurial intention for vietnam undergraduate students shows higher than that of Korean undergraduate students. Since there was lack of recognition as to the importance for entrepreneurial intention of being e-commerce trader in Korea, Korean government can refer to the results of this survey and implement the related policies to enhance related entrepreneurial intention. This indicates that when it comes to the establishment of new ventures in Korea, entrepreneurial education has been the focus of interest such as making business plan, setting up strategy, marketing the products etc. In this regard, this research is expected to be used for the development for the future policies to boost youth entrepreneurship in Korea.

  • This paper focuses on a differentiation strategy to improve educational competitiveness of education department. The reason is that education department stand now on the brink of a precipice because of low employment rate. For this, I researched on 'employment rate' and 'curriculum nature' of educational technology department of YW university and A university, lifelong education department of S university and D university, educational psychology department of SW university which are all related to pedagogy relation department recording relatively high-employment rate. Through the date, I'd like to emphasize that competitiveness of education department depends on a differentiation strategy and that strategy must be based on the influence of education with the consideration of obligation and characterization. And we find that a influence of education can be demonstrated in two aspects : a rational scheme's side and lively culture's side. In the rational scheme aspects, diversification and specialization of curriculum content considering department characteristics and curriculum management including mentoring and sense of realism are emphasized. On the side of culture scheme, positive involvement of members, outlook on the world defined by the concepts like challenge and passion to the future, a sense of community. These discussions will be a guide role on the future researches which focuses on improving competitiveness of education department.

Second, finding out a job in export-oriented SMEs is needed to equip with problem-solving capabilities. To do it, students should learn various subjects related to trade theory. Additionally, having some certificates like 'international trade master' can be better. Third, communication capabilities including foreign language and international business skills will be also required for students who are preparing for joining export-oriented SMEs. However, capabilities related to information technology and basic statistic skills does not have statistically significant correlation to recruitment intention. As a result, students who have such above-mentioned four aptitudes may have better position to find out jobs in export-oriented SMEs.

  • Recently, the interest in Accreditation of Engineering Education, which aims at facilitating the development of engineering education and producing the high calibre of graduates in engineering schools, is increasing. The accreditation requires the students to prepare a portfolio which shows the educational achievements from all courses at the university. In the portfolio, educational activities and outputs of the student are included as a part of the achievements. Particularly, in the portfolio of design-related courses, outputs of the design the student has made until the graduation are accumulated. The outputs enable others to measure the design capability of the student and can be used as important reference materials when applying for employment or graduate school. In this paper, I propose a format of the portfolio for practical exercise courses, engineering design, and undergraduate design and explain the ways of the utilization of the portfolio.
