  • Powerline communication is the data signal which is modulated by carrier frequency through the installed powerline at in-home or office is transmitted and received signals are separated into data signal with using band-pass filter which cent-frequency is carrier frequency. The home gateway, an equipment which works as an gateway for ubiquitous home network, relays all functions of a home network. The home gateway must always be connected in order to provide seamless services. However it gives unfavorable power consumption. Therefore the needs for working in maximum power saving mode while there is no data traffic and for invoking to the normal function when it is necessary. So, in this paper we survey the development of low power PLC modem monitoring of power consumption and breaking abnormal power in the home Network.

  • Peroxiredoxins are ubiquitous thiol proteins that catalyse the breakdown of peroxides and regulate redox activity in the cell. Kinetic analysis of their reactions is required in order to identify substrate preferences, to understand how molecular structure affects activity and to establish their physiological functions. Various approaches can be taken, including the measurement of rates of individual steps in the reaction pathway by stopped flow or competitive kinetics, classical enzymatic analysis and measurement of peroxidase activity. Each methodology has its strengths and they can often give complementary information. However, it is important to understand the experimental conditions of the assay so as to interpret correctly what parameter is being measured. This brief review discusses different kinetic approaches and the information that can be obtained from them.

  • Lectins or carbohydrate-binding proteins are proteins of non-immune origin, which is able to agglutinate cells, and precipitate polysaccharides and glycoconjugates (Goldstein et al., 1980). Lectins with diverse physiological roles are widely distributed to the various plant, microorganisms, invertebrates and vertebrates. The ubiquitous occurrence of lectins in nature and their ability to recognize complementary sugars provided a stimulus for the continuous research for their biochemical properties and physiological functions (Raz and Lotan, 1987). • In this paper, we describes a Compact Distributed Object Group Framework(CDOGF) for mobile collaboration service in ubiquitous computing. CDOGF support network connections of sensors and devices, management of mobile computing devices, and grouping of objects for mobile collaboration service according to the logical area. For this, we defined methods for detail functions and interface. And, we classified into four interactions of that sensors and a application, the CDOGF and a application, between the components of the CDOGF, the CDOGF on a mobile device and the DOGF on a server. We also defined mobile collaboration environment by analyzing existing technologies. In this environment we used the TMO scheme for interaction and the TMOSM for distributed middleware. Finally, we implemented u-hospital application that applied this environment. This application collects environment and health information by PDAs in wards. Also, It provides the information service for patient management task.

  • In the process of cooperation which can be the best proposals for resolving complex problems in computing domain, the way of team organizing is one of the most important aspects for succeeding the goal. Especially in ubiquitous computing environment, where the participants of a team are selected from the heterogeneous computing objects which are deployed by other providers for their own goals, finding the relevant teammate can be regarded as the most important factor for determining the success or failure of the given problem. In this paper, we propose a method of finding teammate and assigning a role, which is a sub task of cooperation, by comparing the attributes of the computing object and the requirement of the role such as capability of functions, loyalty for the given team, and harmony with other teammates. By considering the situationally changing weights of each attributes, this method can be suited for dynamic computing environment where the cooperation should be executed with dynamically in/out computing objects and satisfy the dynamically chaining constraints.

  • As a study on the advancement planning for the telecommunications infrastructure of the educational facilities for the purpose of the proliferation of e-learning, this study was conducted with the intents of preparing for the design guidelines to be considered in the initial stage of an architectural design for applying WLANs(wireless LANs), which play a role as the international standard for next generation of telecommunications, to the educational facilities and of making a proposal for changes of the existing computer rooms according to the appearance of new teaching and learning tools, for example, digital textbooks, and the proliferation of personal information devices. In this study, the design guidelines were made by analyzing the elements to be applied to architecture designs as well as understanding the trend of the cabling, pathways and spaces requirements in the area of telecommunications after examining the relevant international standards, such as ANSI and TIA, etc., in order for applying WLANs to the educational facilities. In addition, a field survey was conducted targeting on the elementary schools in 'C' city in order to suggest a proposal for the improvements of operations and maintenance of the existing computer labs and computers. As the results of analyzing the data from the field study, it was surveyed that the following matters should be urgently improved in order for the schools to be developed as Ubiquitous schools in the future: First, the biggest hold-up is how to maintain the desktop computers well. Second, there are some limitations far the students to use the computers enough due to the lack of the number of computers. Third, the computer education for the students is limited to instructing the students in training themselves only for the functions of each kind of application software.

  • In the sensor network, a lot of sensor nodes are scattered sparsely and organizes a united communication network between each node. After that, environmental information around each sensor node are gathered and analyzed. Because each node operates under resource constraint, the efficiency and hardware specification of a node should be maximized. There exist technical constraints until now but recent technical progress in IC fabrication and wireless network enables to construct a tiny embedded system, which has the properties of low cost, low power consumption, multi functions. Wireless sensor network becomes a modern research field with technical improvements, is studied in numerous laboratories, and is called as diverse different project names - Wireless Integrated Network Sensors (WINS), Mobile Ad hoc NETwork (MANET), Ubiquitous Sensor Network (USN). TinyOS is one of leading project and is widely used. In this paper, we suggest a sensor network, which uses TinyOS platforms and aims for context awareness in a home environment.

  • The purpose of this research is to suggest a competitive design by producing functions and elements needed to users based on a research about device use and needs according to user behavior. We proceeded to the research aiming a design smart document-editing device design which can be used for business regardless of place (at office or home), targeting reasonable and individualistic users from twenties to thirties. By some ways for that, first, we selected target users and based on user interviews to get enough understanding for them. Second, we produced user needs by some troubles after establishing persona and deciding target users on the basis of the research. Third, we designed form-factor visualizing work, organized design spec by the produced concept, and we developed interaction design on the basis of this scenario. Fourth, we made paper prototype and conducted user test. As a result, our final design emphasizes mobile ability and simplicity to be suitable for reasonable individualism and is able to efficiently work input, editing, and output without complicated procedure. We could also prove the validity of the design through usability test.

  • The spectrum sensing is one of the fundamental functions to realize the cognitive radios. One of problems in the spectrum sensing is that the performance of spectrum sensing can be degraded due to fading and shadowing. In order to overcome the problem, cooperative spectrum sensing method is proposed, which uses a distributed detection model and can increase sensing performance. However, the performance of cooperative spectrum sensing can be still affected by the interference factors such as obstacle and malicious user. Especially, most of cooperative spectrum sensing methods only considered the stationary primary user. In the ubiquitous environment, however the mobile primary users should be considered. In order to overcome the aforementioned problem, in this paper we propose a robust spectrum detection method based on localization where we estimate the location of the mobile primary user, and then based on the location and transmission range of primary user we detect interference users if there are, and then the local sensing reporting from detected interference users are excluded in the decision fusion process. Through simulation, it is shown that the sensing performance of the proposed scheme is more accurate than that of conventional other schemes
