  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between the interest of apparel ad-vertising direct mail(DM) and the consumers' characteristics ; like their marital state, age, educational level, expenses on clothing purchase, and rigidity. Samples were 243 women(24∼35 years of age) in the Seoul, Korea. The data were analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, and discriminant analysis. The results of the study were the followings. 1. The department store sent out the most ap-parel advertising DM and the most common dis-tribution method was carrying the DM with the newspapers, 2/3 consumers paid attention to the contents of the apparel advertising DM with 'some interests'. 2. Jackets and pants were the most purchased items after seeing the apparel advertising DM. 3. The interest in the contents of the apparel advertising DM varied according to the consumers' marital state ad the expenses on cloth-ing purchase. 4. Rigidity, age, educational level, and the clothing purchase expenses contributed to discriminant the interesting or uninteresting group in DM. The accuracy rate of the predicting the groups by the 4 variables was 60.91%.

  • Until now, most studies of foot moving or driving posture have been performed under laboratory driving conditions. But there are many different things between actual driving conditions and laboratory driving conditions because, in laboratory conditions, it is hard to consider vehicle's noise, vibration and people's psychology state while driving. Thus this study is performed through actual driving conditions. And while driving test, we recorded driver's foots with 2 cameras to investigate foots(left and right) heel point and how human foots move to control the three pedals : accel, brake and footrest.. Through driving test, the results of this study show that the position of driver's heel point isn't related to stature and tends to be generalized.

  • This study deals with the TE(Transmission Error) of gear tooth profile by modifying a profile and lead of a surface of tooth. First, we experimentally confirmed that the TE is a synthesis of the sliding velocity between both gears. Since various types of TE appear in the experiments, we introduced definition of transmission error and the optimism design by modifying a surface parameters. The test stand's performance is then evaluated through a series of multiple torque transmission error tests. Comparisons are made between data recorded before and after the test stand's redesign, and subsequently repeatability studies are performed to verify the veracity of the measured data. Finally, the experimental results are compared to the analytical predictions of two different gear analysis programs.

  • The boiler feed pump located at a power plant has been experienced a severe vibration since the plant began to service in early 1980. The research is focused on the field measurement and implementation of simple signal processing techniques in order to provide realistic and effective solution which could be implemented into the plant. Based on the root cause analysis for the trouble-making pump system, the driving part gear in the fluid coupling system is identified as a potential source. The followed verification test confirms the analytical result. The test result shows that vibration reduction obtained after the gear replacement reaches up 15.8 dB, which is 1/6 times of the vibration level compared to that of the troble-making pump. The measured vibration level of the pump satisfies the manufacture criteria and guarantees the smoothed operation.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out not only customer demands and satisfaction with service quality in restaurants, but the difference between customer satisfaction and employee practice. This study also identifies the factors affecting customer satisfaction. For the purpose, 116 copies of a questionnaire for employees and 213 for customers were analyzed with frequency, percentile, mean, multiple regression analysis, T-test, one-way ANOVA, and Duncan's Multiple range test, using SPSS/WIN 10.0 program. The major findings obtained in this study are as follows: First, customer demands were affected mostly by educational level among socio-demographic variables. Second, customer demand for service quality was not fully being met, considering customer satisfaction level. Third, employee practice was generally above customer satisfaction. Fourth, One of the variables that chiefly affect customer satisfaction was demand for information and facilities.

  • The goal of this study is to analyze one-child households' financial structure. The data from 1022 more than two children households and 236 one-child households were taken from the Korean Labor and Income Panel Study(2004). This study compared demographic, socioeconomic and marital characteristics between one-child households and more than two children households. A chi-square test, t-test and multiple regression analysis were used. The major findings were as follows: One-child households were different from more than two children households in demographic socioeconomic characteristics and financial structure. In one-child households, the variable that significantly influenced on consumption expenditures was monthly income and the variables that significantly influenced on private education expenditures were householder's age, home-ownership, monthly income.

  • The purpose of this study is to assess students' attitude and satisfaction of university foodservices. We conducted a survey for this study using questionnaires with 400 university students. A total of 344 students answered with a usable response rate of 86.0%. We performed a statistical data analysis using SPSS program for $X^{2}-test$ and t-test. Students visited university foodservices more frequently for lunch than for breakfast or dinner. Students' food choice depended on taste of food. The main reasons for using university cafeteria included 'a low price' and 'economy of time'. The prior complaint factor on university foodservices was 'taste of food'. Students were more satisfied with a price than other factors. They marked 'a variety of menu' as the least satisfied. The matters, such as 'more delicious food' and 'more various menu' were pointed out for improvement. In conclusion, developing tastier food and diversifying a menu are required to enhance the quality of university foodservices.

  • The purpose of this study was to the real situation of the safety education in the kindergarten by investigating the actual condition of the safety education and kindergarten teachers' knowledge about it. Questionnaire was adopted to obtain data required for pertinent analysis. The subjects were 234 kindergarten teachers located in Choongnam and Daejeon province. SPSSWIN v10.0 was utilized to calculate percentage, mean and standard deviation and to conduct t-test, one-way ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test. The main results of this study were as follows. There was a significant difference between the actual condition of the safety education and kindergarten teachers' knowledge about it according to demographic variables. Especially, these differences were due to teachers' academic career, age, teaching experience, and the experience of bringing up children by themselves. The importance of the safety education must be emphasized. There were urgent needs to develop the way of teaching and the program about the safety education.

  • Purpose: The study was done to identify health behavior for cancer prevention in university students according to characteristics of the university students and other factors affecting health behavior for cancer prevention and to provide data to set up a strategy to reduce the cancer. Methods: Data were collected by questionnaires from 353 university students in G city. To analyze the sample survey data, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, and multiple regression analysis were performed with SPSS/WIN 15.0. Results: Significant factors that affect health behaviors for cancer prevention in university students were perception of health status, knowledge and attitudes about cancer, and smoking. These variables explained 21% of health behaviors for cancer prevention. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that in order to improve the health behavior for cancer prevention in university students it is important to development health education programs that focus on positive perception of health status. This development could be enhanced with structured and on-going education about cancer.

  • This study aimed to identify children's emotional variables (anxiety and emotional expressiveness) and parenting variables supporting emotional development (affection and concern for, respect, and trust of children) which influence somatic symptoms. Subjects were 311 6th grade children. Instruments were the Korean version of the State-Trait Anxiety for Children (Spielberger, 1973), Children's Somatization Inventory (Walker & Green, 1991), Emotional Expressiveness Questionnaire (King & Emmons, 1990), and the Parenting Behavior Test by the researcher. Analysis by t-test showed that children's anxiety influenced somatization. The children who perceived that both parents respect their thoughts, feelings and choices and that their fathers trust their behaviors and abilities showed low somatic symptoms. Supporting children's emotional development through good parenting practices was discussed.
