Background: Pilates exercises are used for body shape correction because they can achieve correct posture alignment through spinal stabilization. Objects: This study aimed to determine whether the use of reformers increases the effectiveness of Pilates core exercises on body alignment in standing. Methods: The study included 30 women without known diagnoses of musculoskeletal and neurological disorders or cancer. Those who had taken more than 10 Pilates lessons were excluded. The participants were randomly assigned to either the reformer exercise group or the mat exercise group, and interventional Pilates exercises were performed for 60 minutes a day, three times a week, for a total of 8 weeks. Ten movements of the reformer and mat Pilates core exercise programs were included. Exbody® 9100 MOMI musculoskeletal analysis equipment (Exbody Inc.) was used to assess the alignment of the standing posture in the frontal plane. Results: As a result of comparing the differences within and between the groups before and after the intervention using the two-way mixed analysis of variance test, height differences in the head, pelvis, left and right, shoulders, scapulas, knees, and ankles in the frontal plane after the intervention were found in both groups. For example, the left-right symmetry of the body alignment in the standing posture was significantly improved within each group (p < 0.05). However, no significant difference was found between the groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Both the reformer and mat Pilates core exercises were effective for standing posture alignment, which has clinical significance. If an exercise program is developed based on the analysis of movements necessary for posture improvement and the target muscles to be strengthened, the same effect can be achieved only with mat exercise without using the reformer equipment at the beginner stage.
This paper presents a new watermarking scheme that is robust against geometrical attacks such as translation and rotation. The proposed method is based on the conventional PSADT(Polar Coordinates Shape Adaptive Discrete Transform) method which is an robust watermarking scheme for an arbitrarily-shaped image such as character images. The PSADT method shows perfect robustness against geometrical attack if there is no change in the shape of the image object. However, it cannot be utilized to watermark general rectangular images because of the missing alignment between the watermarked signals in the embedding and extracting side. To overcome this problem we propose a new watermarking scheme that aligns the watermark signal using the image inherent feature, especially corner. Namely the proposed method decides a consistent target region whose shape and position isn't changed by any malicious attack and then embeds the watermark in it using the PSADT method. Experimental results show the robustness of the proposed method against geometrical attacks as well as image compression.

Purpose In the many face-related application such as head pose estimation, 3D face modeling, facial appearance manipulation, the robust and fast facial feature extraction is necessary. We present the facial feature extraction method based on shape regression and feature selection for real-time facial feature extraction. Materials and Methods The facial features are initialized by statistical shape model and then the shape of facial features are deformed iteratively according to the texture pattern which is selected on the feature pool. Results We obtain fast and robust facial feature extraction result with error less than 4% and processing time less than 12 ms. The alignment error is measured by average of ratio of pixel difference to inter-ocular distance. Conclusion The accuracy and processing time of the method is enough to apply facial feature based application and can be used on the face beautification or 3D face modeling.

In this paper, the 3D shape of a hydraulic actuator cover was 3D printed by applying two materials, namely PLA and ABS. Subsequently, the printed shape was scanned to analyze the material properties, dimensional change characteristics, dimensions, and scan shape as a real model. To compare and analyze material-specific 3D printing dimensions, a non-contact mobile laser scanner was used to scan a portion of the printed hydraulic actuator cover and the final alignment shape of the 3D printed part was studied on the basis of the design model.

Process variation effect on arch-structured gate stacked array (GSTAR) 3-D NAND flash is investigated. In case of arch-structured GSTAR, a shape of the arch channel is depending on an alignment of photo-lithography. Channel width fluctuates according to the channel hole alignment. When a shape of channel exceeds semicircle, channel width becomes longer, increasing drain current. However, electric field concentration on tunnel oxide decreases because less electric flux converges into a larger surface of tunnel oxide. Therefore, program efficiency is dependent on the process variation. Meanwhile, a radius of channel holes near the bottom side become smaller due to an etch slope. It also affects program efficiency as well as channel width. Larger hole radius has an advantage of higher drain current, but causes degradation of program speed.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was carried out to review the correlation between foot shape(supination foot, pronation foot) and low back pain, hip abduction muscle and ankle lateral sprain. Methods : By using internet, we research the PubMed, Science Direct, KISS, DBpia We selected the article between 1990 and 2007. Key words were supination foot, pronation foot, balance. Results : Normal control balance of human body needs a optimal anatomical alignment and function of musculoskeletal and central nerve system that control continuously to integrate. Especially ankle and foot complex play an important role in postural control because it is located distal part in human body. Supination foot brings to chronic ankle sprain or chronic ankle instability and range of motion limitation due to the weakness of lateral ankle muscle. Pronation foot brings to knee injury because of lower leg internal rotation force. Conclusion : Excessive supination and pronation foot happen to muscle imbalance. Especially weakness of hip abduction or injury of ankle lateral muscle or low back pain are due to abnormal balance and anatomical alignment.

When a vehicle is running, wheel is generating vertical and lateral force on the rail, in addition to load of vehicle, through a complicated set of motions. The derailment coefficient refers to the ratio of lateral force to vertical force(wheel load), and if the value exceeds a certain level, a wheel climbs or jumps over the rail. That's why the value is used as a criterion for running safety. Derailment coefficient of rolling stocks alters according to shape of rail track. I measured three-dimensional angular velocity and acceleration to use 3D Motion Tracker. Test result, derailment coefficient of rolling stocks and shape of rail track examined closely that have fixed relation. Specially, was proved that roll motion has the close coupling relation.

The biomechanical interaction between the stump and the prosthetic socket is critically important to achieve close-to-normal ambulation. Many investigators suggested that the pressure changes during gait of transfemoral amputees are closely related to the prosthetic alignment, the socket shape, the stump size, and the residual muscle activity. The effects of the prosthetic alignment, the socket shape, and the stump size on the interface pressure were investigated previously. However, there is no report how the residual muscle activities in the transfemoral stump affect the socket interface pressure characteristics during gait. Since designs of socket fur lower limb amputees need to consider the socket interface pressure characteristics, the interface pressure patterns by the residual muscle activities during gait should be investigated. In this study, myoelectric signals (MES) and socket interface pressure in residual limb of transfemoral amputees were measured during the stance and swing phases of gait. For the purpose, specially designed quadrilateral sockets that MES electrodes could be instrumented were fabricated. A total of two transfemoral amputees were participated in the experiments. The measured temporal MES amplitude and interface pressure in knee flexor (biceps femoris) and extensor (rectus femoris) had significant correlations (P < 0.05). Based on the test results, It was suggested that the residual muscle activity of transfemoral amputees stump is an important factor affecting socket pressure changes during walk.

A polymer-stabilized vertical alignment (PS-VA) mode with fishbone-shaped pixel electrode structure is mainly used in large-sized liquid crystal displays (LCDs) owing to its advantages such as wide viewing angle, good transmittance and fast response time. One drawback of this mode is a main bone electrode, which crosses in the center of a pixel. It causes the transmittance to decrease badly because LCs cannot be reoriented in this region, and thus, it is particularly unfavorable in an ultra-high-definition LCD. Here, we propose an innovative structure with the main bone electrode relocated to the edge area in a pixel, and investigate how this reverse directed fishbone-shaped pixel electrode structure affects electro-optic characteristics. The proposed structure shows enhanced electro-optic performance, such as the higher transmittance and the faster response time than the conventional VA mode with fishbone-shaped pixel electrode structure.

The extraction of horizontal alignment and cross-section of roads is very important task in road safety diagnosis. Existing road safety diagnosis methods by investigators need much time and expense but don't provide various data. Therefor, we need road shape classification automatically and extraction method of horizontal alignment and cross-section of roads through digital photogrammetry system using GPS-VAN with laser scanner. In this paper, we propose a method of mobile laser scanning data acquisition, processing and developing extraction methods of horizontal alignment and cross-section of roads using mobile laser scanning data by GPS-VAN.
