The subjects of study are female students of universities in Korea, China and Hong Kong. The data analysis was done with the statistical treatment in SPSS 14.0, and the results are as follows. Female students of universities in Korea, China and Hong Kong are distinguished from wearing color and preference color of innerwear. Korea and China female students prefer skin color to the other color but most of Hong Kong female students prefer black color. In case of red color, Korea female students don't select a red color as a preference color but even if some students select a red color, China and Hong Kong females prefer a red color. The traditional color opinions of Korea, China and Hong Kong are the same as a Yin-Yang School. But these days they have different color opinions because of cultural, political and ideological elements. Korea females like skin and white colors because these colors don't appear on the outwear surface. Korean have an inclination toward conservatism and use the color according to ideological and deceptive orders of the Confucianism. Hong Kong have a different color preference from China because they have chances of receiving the other cultures for example United Kingdom, Japan and so on.

  • This paper aims to identify the similarities and differences of color preference for mountain climbing wear according to gender, season and item. Total of 749 photos of mountain climbers were taken in 2009 during weekends in May and October at two mountains in Seoul. In order to analyze color by hue and tone, all the data were digitalized using Photoshop and converted to HV/C by using the Munsell Conversion software. For the purpose of data analysis, 13 colors of hue, including 10 base colors of the Munsel color system plus white, gray and black, and 12 tones of PCCS were grouped into 5 groups according to close distance. Jumper, t-shirts, vest and pants were selected as the 4 item categories. Results showed that there were clear differences in color preference based on gender. Women, with a preference for red, reddish purple, black, purple and blue, displayed wider range of choices in color as compared to men, who preferred black and blue color throughout all seasons. Yellow, green, and greenish blue were less preferred by both men and women. For pants, black represented over 90% as the main color for both genders. Overall, men preferred dark tones and women preferred vivid and bright tones. Moreover, there were less distinct differences in color preference according to season and item.

  • The experiment aimed at knowing the effect of physiology and psychology according to season on color preference. Two tests, one of the spring and the other of the autumn was conducted. Seventy subjects with normal color vision served as subjects. The subjects entered a bioclimatic chamber controlled at a temperature of $25\pm1^{\circ}C$, a relative humidity of $50\pm5\%$ and a light of 1000 1x. The subjects wearing white shirts and trousers sat quietly on a sofa for one our. Sensation from warm to cool colors might be possibly different individually Therefore, a subject asked to array 41 randomly placed cloth colors from very warm to very cool colors during rest quietly for one our. All subjects arrayed these cloth colors in the order from red through yellow and green to blue, which had the reproducibility. After rest, they were instructed to choose a single one out of 41 cloth colors, preferred by themselves, every 10min during one our 0-ring test were measured to red, yellow, white, blue, black, favorite color, and dislike color. Most subjects preferred warmer color in April than in December. Tympanic temperature was significantly lower in December than in April. Finger presser was significantly higher in like color than in dislike color but it was no significant differences between spring and autumn. The preferring the warm color in April toward summer when basal metabolic rate is decreased than in December toward winter when it is increased can explain that physiology reaction by load error between actual core temperature and set-point induces psychological reaction to pursue visual alliesthesia. Our present experiment revealed that the preferred color could be determined by the relationship between the internal temperature and its set point according to season. It should be emphasized that the alliesthesia was observed also in the realm of visual system.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of physical type and age on preference for color and fabric motifs in women's clothing design. Color preference measures consisted of fabric samples in solid colors and drawings of clothing styles painted in colors. Preference for fabric motifs was assessed by printed fabrics in various patterns and sizes. All of the preference measures were devised specifically for this study. Furthermore, items on height and weight for physical type as well as age of the subjects were included in the questionnaire. Data were obtained by means of structured interviews and self-administered questionnaires from 588 women ($20\~60$ years of age) in seoul. Analysis was by chi-square ($X^{2}$), frequency, percentage, and mean. On color preference, a small but significant body type, height, and age effect was found on some types of clothing. Preference for fabric motifs was affected by body type; height of subjects was related to preference for size of motifs, and age was related to choice, size, and width of striped motifs. It was concluded that body type, height, and age are 1e3st effective in predicting color preference. Fabric motif preference was influenced more by age than by body type or height. Generally, there was some similarities in preference for lines and fabric patterns among slim body types, tall figures, and younger age groups as well as heavy body types, short figures, and older age groups.
