The KOREASAT satellite, the first Korean commercial communication and broadcasting satellite, has been launched in August 1995, and has started to provide the communication and preliminary broadcasting services, respectively, in March and July 1996. In this paper the network configurations and characteristics of the services which the KOREASAT satellite provides are described. The services, which are provided by the KOREASAT satellite with its twelve communication and four broadcasting transponders, are the direct broadcasting service, the video relay service including the TVRO, SNG and TV/CATV program distribution, the company-wide communication service including VSAT and TSAT, and the other services with the digital line, trunk relay, telephone line, mobile data, music broadcasting services, etc. A communication transponder has the 36MHz bandwidth and 14W output power, and a broadcasting transponder has the 27MHz bandwidth and 12OW output power.

In this paper, a home network gateway has been developed, which supports the ZigBee and power line communication methods at the same time. A conversion protocol for smooth information exchange between ZigBee module and power line communication module have been implemented on the gateway, and the performance and reliability of the gateway have been evaluated as good through field tests. The gateway can support various home networks.

Power-line communication (PLC) has influenced smart grid development. In addition, PLC has also been instrumental in current research on internet-of-things (IoT). Due to the implementation of PLC in smart grid and IoT environments, strides have been made in PLC and its combination with the wireless system to form a hybrid communication system. Also, PLC has evolved from a single-input-single-output (SISO) configuration to multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) configuration system, and from a point-to-point communication system to cooperative communication systems. In this work, we extend a MIMO wireless two-way amplify-and-forward (AF) cooperative communication system to a hybrid PLC and wireless (PLC/W) system configuration. We then maximize the weighted sum-rate for the hybrid PLC/W by optimizing the precoders at each node within the hybrid PLC/W system. The sum-rate problem was found to be non-convex, therefore, an iterative algorithm is used to find the optimal precoders that locally maximize the system sum-rate. For our simulation results, we compare our proposed hybrid PLC/W configuration to a PLC only and wireless only configuration at each node. Due to an improvement in system diversity, the hybrid PLC/W configuration outperformed the PLC only and wireless only system configurations in all simulation results presented in this paper.
Power line communications is a topic which has been studied for many years, However. the technology has not been widely adopted for data networking in homes and small businesses due to low speed. low functionality. and other barriers. Recently. with a proper technology. it is shown that the power line infrastructure can also be served as a high-speed communications medium. This paper describes a transmission scheme for power lines that is based on orthogonal frequency division multiplex(OFDM) technique. This technique can be used for high-speed data communication over the power line. This paper also presents an adaptive tracking algorithm which allocate bits and power adaptively according to the channel characteristics. The performance of the proposed scheme has been demonstrated by some simulations with taking modeled channel conditions into account.

In this paper a low signal reduction communication system that does not use the communication line but power line is presented It will be very useful for an information-oriented society with tele-metering and home automation. The conventional system has a difficulty in transmitting information due to decreasing communication voltage. The proposed system employs a special type switching amplifier system which has a low inner resistance and uses high efficient ferrite core in coupling circuit. This new system is proposed to reduce the loss of conductor load and coupling circuit in a PLC system.
In this paper, we newly developed a byte-inverted transmission method for flicker-free visible light communication (VLC). The VLC transmitter sends original data in the former half period of the clock, and inverted data and in the latter half period of the clock. The VLC receiver receives the original data in the in the former half period of the clock. In this system, we used 480Hz clock that was generated from the 60Hz power line. The average optical power of the LED array in the transmitter is constant, thus flicker-free, in the observation time longer than the period of the clock that is about 2ms. This period is shorter than the maximum flickering time period (MFTP) of 5ms that is generally considered to be safe. This configuration is very useful in constructing indoor wireless sensor networks using LED light because it is flicker-free and does not require additional transmission channel for clock transmission.
In this paper, we introduce a new method for controlling the illumination of LEDs in visible light communication (VLC) by changing the duty cycle of Manchester code. When VLC data were transmitted in Manchester code, the average optical power of the LEDs was proportional to the duty cycle. In experiments, we controlled the illumination of a $3{\times}3$ LED array from 10% to 90% of its peak value by changing the duty cycle of the Manchester code. The synchronizing clocks required for encoding and decoding the Manchester code were supplied by pulse generators that were connected to a 220 V power line. All pulse generators made the same pulses with a repetition frequency of 120 Hz, and they were synchronized with the full-wave rectified voltage of the power line. This scheme is a very simple and useful method for constructing indoor wireless sensor networks using LED light.
A pre-fire awareness and automatic notification system are required because it is possible to minimize the damage if the fire situation is precisely detected after a fire occurs in a place where people are unusual or in a mountainous area. In this study, we developed a RaspberryPi-based fire recognition system using Faster-recurrent convolutional neural network (F-RCNN) and single shot multibox detector (SSD) and demonstrated a fire alarm system that works with power line communication. Image recognition was performed with a pie camera of RaspberryPi, and the detected fire image was transmitted to a monitoring PC through an inductive power line communication network. The frame rate per second (fps) for each learning model was 0.05 fps for Faster-RCNN and 1.4 fps for SSD. SSD was 28 times faster than F-RCNN.

PLC(Power Line Communication) is being used in various ways in smart grid system because of the advantages of low cost and high data throughput. However, power line channel has many problems due to impulse noise and various studies have been conducted to solve the problem. Recently, ACDL(Adaptive Cannonical Differential Limiter) which is based on an adaptive clipping with analog nonlinear filter, has been proposed and performs better than the others. In this paper, we show that ACDL is similar to the detection of slew rate with oversampled digital signal by simplification and analysis. Through the simulation under the PRIME standard it is shown that the proposed performs equal to or better than that of ACDL, but significantly reduce the complexity to implement. The BER performance is equal but the complexity is reduced to less than 10%.

Power line communication: PLC which easy to install at anywhere near outlet for electric machine. PLC uses transmission line for voltage of which is 60 Hz. Signals don't affect to electric machine in PLC because they are very small voltage. One of the important thing is the processes of adding signal to power line and extracting the signal from power line, the other is to choose the strong modulation method which sends signals long distance without loosing in PLC channel. but PLC channel have very high and variable noise and attenuation and then it is very hard to transmit optimally between the transmitter and the receiver. After all, impedance and noise problems of PLC channel must be overcame. Noises of 2 kinds which are AWGN abd impulse noise and attenuation are orated. To overcome the noise. Recently, Multi-carrier Modulation: MCM methods like as OFDM and DMT which are divide the channel into many sub-channel have been studied. those are powerful communication methods in PLC. In this paper, PLC channels made up of 3 numbers of noise and attenuation are simulated for getting BER by Matlab simulink.
