  • The purpose of this study is to test the mediating effect of coping plan and action plan in the relation between leisure-time physical activity(LTPA) intention and exercise behavior and to extend the literature in theory of planned behavior. We examined the mediating role of implementation plan-namely coping plan and action plan in the effect of intention to physical activity on exercise behavior. To attain the goal of study, we asked collegiate students (n=253; male=118, female=105) report their intention toward LTPA, coping plan, action plan, and self-reported exercise behavior. Collected data was analyzed using statistical program software (i.e., SPSS, AMOS) for SEM and mediation analyses. The results revealed that intention toward LTPA was positively related to implementation plan (coping plan and action plan) and exercise behavior. Collegiate students' intention toward LTPA positively predicted their exercise behavior mediated by implementation plans. Specifically, LTPA intention among collegiate students predicted their exercise behavior via coping plan and action plan. The findings showed that coping plan and action plan partially mediated in the relation between LTPA intention and exercise behavior. In conclusion, students' intention to be getting physical active in leisure-time physical activity explains lifetime physical activity or the level of recent exercise behavior possibly via coping plan (e.g., how to overcome barriers to exercise) and action plan (e.g., when and where I exercise and get physically active). The conceptualization of coping plan and action plan in implementation plans and test of its model better to explain the intention-behavior gap would help exercise instructors or practitioners effectively develop their plans and strategies toward targeted exercise behavior.

  • The purposes of this study was to investigate the effects of materialism value on the clothing shopping orientation and impulse buying behaviors of Chinese female consumers. The subjects were 417 female millennials in Gillim-province, China. The research method was a survey, and the questionnaire consisted of questions to ascertain materialism value, clothing shopping orientation, impulse buying behaviors, and the subjects' demographic characteristics. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, Cronbach's α, factor analysis, and regression analysis were performed. The results of this study were as follows: First, materialism value was derived with 3 factors (happiness pursuit, possession-oriented, and success judgement). Second, the clothing shopping orientation was derived with 5 factors (trend pursuit, pleasure pursuit, brand pursuit, economic pursuit, and convenience pursuit). Third, the impulse buying behavior was derived with 4 factors (pure, planned, reminder, and implicit impulse buying). Forth, materialism value had significant effects on clothing shopping orientation. The higher the value of materialism, the more the brand pursuit, pleasure pursuit, and trend pursuit shopping orientation increased, while the economic pursuit and convenience pursuit shopping orientation decreased. Fifth, materialism value had significant effect on pure and planned impulse buying behaviors. As the value of materialism increased, pure and planned impulsive buying behaviors increased. This study suggested that materialism value is an effective variable to understand the clothing shopping orientation and clothing impulse buying behavior.

  • This study was conducted to analyze the factors influencing participation intention in urban agriculture. The theoretical foundations of the study were Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Pine and Gilmore's Experiencel Economy. The type of household composition was set as the moderating variable between these independent and dependent variables. In order to test the research model, hierarchical regression analysis was conducted on 439 effective respondents. The empirical analysis results are as follows. Educational experience factors, escapist experience factors, attitudes, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control, which were set as independent variables to positive (+) influence participation intention in urban agriculture. In addition, the impact of their influence relationship was as follows : perceived behavioral control > attitudes > escapist experience factor > subjective norm > educational experience factor. On the other hand, as a result of analyzing the moderating effect according to the household composition, there was a significant difference in the effect of educational experiences, escapist experiences, and subjective norm on participation intention in urban agriculture. Significant results were not tested on the moderating effects between attitudes, perceived behavioral control, and participation intention in urban agriculture. Based on the results of this empirical analysis, academic and practical implications were presented.

  • Purpose: This study aims to identify the effect of university students' intention to donate hematopoietic stem cells based on the theory of planned behavior. Methods: The subjects include university students who visited the campaign for the registration of hematopoietic stem cell donation held at H university on September 28, 2019 and October 2, 2019. Results: The intention to register for hematopoietic stem cell donation and empirical attitude (r=.72, p<.001), instrumental attitude (r=.64, p<.001), directive norm (r=.53, p<.001), technical norms (r=.55, p<.001) and self-efficacy (r=.86, p<.001) showed a significant positive correlation. The multiple regression analysis revealed that self-efficacy (β=.66) and empirical attitude (β=.23) were the most influential factors. Conclusion: Educational and promotional programs to increase the intention to register for hematopoietic stem cell donation need to be developed to help increase students' self-efficacy and help them develop a positive experiential attitude. In addition, further research is needed to determine whether the intention to register in hematopoietic stem cell donation among university students can lead to actual registration and donation after registration.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine handwashing-related factors in nurses. Specific purposes of this study were to examine 1) the applicability of the hypothetical model constructed for this study, on the basis of Theory of Planned Behavior(TPB), and 2) relationships between handwashing practice and other variables such as age, career, level of education, and level of recognition about handwashing. Method: Data were collected from 187 nurses in one university hospital in Kyung-Ki province. Result: The hypothetical model based on TPB was revealed applicable, but the degree of the variance explaining handwashing practice was small(26%). Perceived behavioral control(PBC) was the most strong variable explaining handwashing practice, and intention didn't have a significant effect on handwashing practice. Norm and PBC had significant effects on intention, but attitude was not a significant factor of intention. Age, career, and the level of awareness of handwashing practice were significantly related to handwashing practice. Conclusion: The result of this study suggests that we should focus on perceived behavioral control, awareness of handwashing practice and subjective norm about handwashing practice to increase the level of nurses' handwashing practice.

  • Public accountant profile dominated by over-50-year-old people appears to be alarming. The intention towards this profession had better be fostered immediately; therefore, the predictors to boost the intention need to be known. The study examines the influence of accounting knowledge toward the intention to work as public accountant using the Theory of Planned Behavior approach. A survey of 146 students revealed that there was a significantly positive influence of accounting knowledge toward the intention of becoming public accountant, both directly and indirectly, through the mediation of attitudes and perceived behavioral control. Subjective norms did not function as an appropriate mediation. The findings are expected to contribute to universities and professional accounting bodies. The study urges the accounting educators to redesign and reorganize the curriculum, including a more interesting teaching and learning methods. The professional accounting bodies are expected to cooperate with accounting educators in enhancing the internship program and providing real-case study to instill a positive attitude and assurance toward the students' competence, which, in the end, might spark the intention to work as public accountant. That accounting knowledge positively influences the intention toward public accounting profession through the mediation of perceived behavioral control was statistically supported.

  • Based on literature relating to the theory of planned behavior(TPB) and the TAM, this study extends the applicability of the TAM in a mobile banking context, by adding one trust-based construct('perceived credibility') and two resource-based constructs('perceived efficacy' and 'perceived cost') and technical suitability constructs to the model, while paying careful attention to the placing of these constructs in the TAM's existing nomological structure. Data collected from 182 users in Korea were tested against the extended TAM, using the structural equation modeling approach. The results strongly support the extended TAM in predicting users intentions to adopt mobile banking. Several implications for IT/IS acceptance research and mobile banking management practices are discussed.
