The 10 Year Implementation Plan for a Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS), which was endorsed at the Third Earth Observation Summit in Brussels in February, 2005, emphasizes the importance of data management facilities for diverse and large-volume Earth Observation data from inhomogeneous information sources. A three year research plan for addressing this key target of GEOSS has just approved as the first step by the Japanese government. The goals of this research are, (1) to develop a data management core system consisting of data integration and information fusion functions and interoperability and information service functions; (2) to establish data and information flows between data providers and users; (3) to promote application studies of data integration and information fusion, especially in the fields of weather forecasting, flood forecasting, agricultural management, and climate variability and changes. The research group involves leading scientists on information science and technology, who have been developing giant data archive servers, storage area networks, metadata models, ontology for the earth observations. They are closely cooperating with scientists on earth sciences, water resources management, and agriculture, and establishing an effective collaborative research framework.

KORMARC used in library bibliographic information, had been pointed several weaknesses such as inflexibility lack of link information and compatibility. In addition, a sudden increase in digital information associated with development of internet is demanding an integration of web resources metadata as the resource of library information. This study mentioned XML/KORMARC system or adaption of XML standard format turned out to be the most efficient way to use KORMARC formats and to expand the range of those information service such as bibliographic information, factual information, referral information and full-text.

컴퓨터로 옮겨 놓은 생물학 실험실에서 생명과학을 연구하는 연구자가 생명정보를 확인하려면 1차적으로 생물다양성 관련 데이터베이스에서 생명체에 관한 종정보, 생태정보, 분포정보를 검색해야 한다. 그리고 그 생명체를 구성하는 유전자 서열정보와 단백질 구조정보를 Genbank, PDB 등의 유전자/단백질 데이터베이스에서 검색해야 한다. 또한 그 생명체에 관한 학술적 내용이 수록된 학술논문까지 별도로 검색해야만 그 생명체에 관한 포괄적이고도 정확한 정보를 획득하여 연구에 활용할 수 있다. 이런 일련의 과정은 연구자에게 불편함과 함께 많은 시간이 소요됨으로 인해 연구의 효율성을 저하시키는 요인이 되고 있다. 이런 불편함을 해결하기 위하여 통합검색하기 위한 여러 방법을 분석하고, 그중 스키마 통합을 선택하였다. 또한 스키마 통합을 위하여 각각의 데이터베이스의 스키마를 분석하고 메타데이터를 추출하여 Mediated 스키마를 설계하였다. 본 논문에서 설계한 생명정보 검색시스템(BIRS, Biological Information Retrieval System)과 인터페이스를 사용하여 생명과학을 연구하는 연구자들의 연구의 효율성을 향상시킬 수 있을 것이다.

It has lately been recognized that the sharing and exchanging of the research results information is the critical factor to improve the research productivity. So many institutions are planning or developing the information systems which provide the research information services for researcher. But it has very difficulty in integrating the research resources information due to the dispersion and heterogeneity in data sources, and semantic and structural difference in describing data. We propose the semantic web based methodology and conceptual framework for raising the interoperability of metadata about research results information, which will support the integration of the distributed research data for information services in the end. Finally we proposed the conceptual architecture of research information service system which shows the main components, the functional requirements, and the principal and design direction at implementing the system.

클라우드 환경에서 기업은 의사결정이나 기업의 정책을 결정하기 위해 데이터 통합 및 분석이 필요하다. 그러나 이 환경에서 새로운 시스템이 추가되면 데이터 통합 측면에서 기존 시스템이 가진 이질적인 특성 때문에 많은 비용과 시간이 필요로 하게 된다. 따라서 본 논문에서 멀티 데이터베이스 서비스를 위하여 DBaaS 허브 시스템을 제안한다. 이러한 DBaaS는 서로 다른 데이터베이스를 요구할 수도 있으며, 연관성이 있는 서비스를 위하여 데이터를 통합해야할 필요가 있다. DBaaS의 데이터 상호운용성 문제를 해결하기 위해 온톨로지를 이용한 메타 쿼리를 제안한다. 메타 쿼리는 실제 데이터에 접근하기 위한 쿼리가 아닌 상위의 쿼리이다. 이는 실제 데이터베이스에 접근할 때 온톨로지를 통하여 변환된 질의로 접근함으로써 데이터 통합을 기할 수 있다. 또한 메타 데이터를 이용하여 문서 지향 데이터베이스 시스템을 구축한다.

본 논문은 설계도 등 도로점용허가에서 발생하는 정보의 관리를 위한 웹기반의 도로점용시스템 개발에 대해 기술하였다. 도로점용시스템 개발은 도로점용허가 관련 국내외 정보시스템 사례조사, 도로점용허가 업무분석, 도로점용허가 관리대상 정보정의, 시스템 개발 및 적용의 순으로 진행하였다. 도로점용허가 업무분석은 도로법 등 법령조사와 도로관리청의 업무처리 사례를 조사하고, 사용자 요구사항파악을 위해 도로관리청 업무담당자 및 민원인을 대상으로 설문조사를 시행하였다. 도로점용허가 각 업무에서 발생하는 정보의 관리를 위해 정보의 특성을 나타낼 수 있는 정보분류코드를 개발하고, 각 정보간의 위계관계를 고려하여 메타정보를 정의하였다. 정보분류코드 및 메타정보를 기반으로 도로점용허가 업무흐름 및 사용자요구사항을 반영하여 도로점용시스템 개발을 진행하였다. 개발한 도로점용시스템은 일선 도로관리청에 적용하였으며, 종이문서로 관리하던 도로점용허가 정보를 전자문서로 관리하게 됨에 따라 도로관리청의 도로점용허가 도서 관리업무 개선과 대국민 민원행정서비스의 품질이 향상될 것으로 기대된다.

XML은 데이터 관리와 표현의 유연성으로 인해 웹의 새로운 개발 도구로 자리를 잡아가고 있으며, 컴퓨터 교육에서는 학습객체라는 많은 웹 컨텐츠들을 통합하는 도구로도 사용되고 있다. 하지만 학습객체를 통합하고 관리하는 온라인 학습 시스템을 구현하기에 앞서, 구현 시스템에서 학습객체를 처리하기 위한 메타데이터를 어떻게 저장하고 추출 및 통합하느냐의 연구가 선행되어져야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 3-tier 방식의 온라인 학습 시스템과 메타데이터가 저장된 데이터베이스 서버를 구현할 때 필요한 메타데이터 추출방법의 하나로 DBMS의 웹서비스를 이용하는 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 제안된 방법의 효율성 측정을 위해 MS SQL Server 2000과 Oracle 9i를 대상으로 30여개의 샘플 메타데이터를 저장하고, 이를 추출하는 응답시간을 측정해 보았다. 이 방법을 사용하기 위해서는 추출된 메타데이터를 DOM/SAX 와 같은 XML 처리 파서가 필요하지만, 측정된 결과 비교적 빠른 응답시간을 보여 데이터베이스에 저장된 메타데이터를 추출하고 통합하는 한 방법으로 충분히 사용할 수 있다는 결과를 얻었다.

These days, companies have to process enormous information and knowledge to satisfy desire of customers. The mere storage of them is no longer a significant problem because of the immense progress information technology has made during the past years and decades. It is important to deliver the right piece of information to the right person at the right time. Consequently, Knowledge management which supports the exchange of relevant information within company organization structure is of special interest for current enterprises. To solve this problem, a concept of the Knowledge management system is introduced in this paper based on the ontology technology. An ontology can describe all relevant information about documents, products, organizational structures or the users, their interests and experiences and be understood by everybody.

In this study, a system to increase the expressiveness of existing standard terminology using three-dimensional (3D) data is designed. We analyze the existing medical terminology system by searching the reference literature and perform an expert group focus survey. A human body image is generated using a 3D modeling tool. Then, the anatomical position of the human body is mapped to the 3D coordinates' identification (ID) and metadata. We define the term to represent the 3D human body position in a total of 12 categories, including semantic terminology entity and semantic disorder. The Blender and 3ds Max programs are used to create the 3D model from medical imaging data. The generated 3D human body model is expressed by the ID of the coordinate type (x, y, and z axes) based on the anatomical position and mapped to the semantic entity including the meaning. We propose a system of standard terminology enabling integration and utilization of the 3D human body model, coordinates (ID), and metadata. In the future, through cooperation with the Electronic Health Record system, we will contribute to clinical research to generate higher-quality big data.

중개기 기반 정보 통합 시스템은 서로 다른 지역 정보 시스템의 유연한 통합을 지원하나, 질의 처리시 최적화 측면과 지역 스키마 정보에 관한 메타데이터 표준화 측면에는 그리 큰 비중을 두지 않았다. 이러한 점을 개선하기 위해 제안된 분산 정보 통합 시스템은 질의 처리시 최적화 측면을 위해 질의 캐싱을 사용하며, 지역 스키마 정보에 관한 메타데이터 표준화 측면을 위해 ISO/IEC 11179 기반의 메타데이터 레지스트리를 사용한다. 이 시스템은 분산된 이기종의 비즈니스 정보 시스템들을 논리적으로 통합하여 사용자가 필요로 하는 통합된 정보를 웹 기반으로 제공한다. 이러한 시스템을 시스템 재사용성의 향상과 유지보수의 용이함을 위해 계층적 패턴을 사용하여 3계층 표현 방식 아키텍처로 표현하였고, 3계층 아키텍처의 핵심 요소들의 기능성과 흐름을 효과적으로 표현하기 위하여 UML 방법론을 확장한 EPEM 방법론을 이용하여 설계하였다. 또한 제안한 시스템의 구체적인 한 예로서, 공급망 관리 도메인에 적용하여 웹 기반으로 구현하였다. 따라서 분산 정보 통합 시스템은 질의 처리 속도 향상을 위해 질의 함수 관리기와 질의 함수 저장소를 통하여 질의 캐싱 기능을 제공하였고, 의미 이질성 해결을 위해 ISO/IEC 11179 기반의 메타데이터 레지스트리와 스키마 레파지토리를 이용함으로써 스키마 이질성과 데이터 이질성을 해결하였다.
