This paper reviewed present status of school health program in Korea to seek. The improvement of health of school children. The results are summarized from reviewing publications of school health and survey data from trainees for principals of primary and middle school at Korea National University of Education during Jun. 17 to Aug. 13, 1987. The major recommandations for the improvement of school health program in Korea of this study are as follow: 1. Reformation of School Health Organization It is hard to activate effective school health program without reformation of school health organization in the Ministry of Education. School health section in MOE should be reorganized for the planning, operation and evaluation of school health program. School health committee in MOE and Provincial Board of Education should be established by the health and education professions. 2. Appointment of school physician and recruitment of school nurse: School health center in Office of City/Gun Education should be established for increasing the utilization of school physician, and school nurse should be appointed for 3 - 4 schools in same area. 3. Improvement of school health education: 1) Curricula of physical education of teachers College/University should be rearrangement for school health education. 2) Role of school nurse as a health educator in school should be extented. 3) In-service training for health education should be done for teachers of physical education. 4) Professional health teacher should be trained independently from physical education in College of Education and Teachers College. 4. Revision of school health law and regulations: Present school health law and regulations should be revised by the recommendations of experts on school health.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the trend of academic journals of institutional foodservice published from 2005 to 2009. This study was conducted by content analysis. We collected 322 articles including the subject of institutional foodservice Industry published from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2009. Classification based on content analysis was conducted based on research method, statistical analysis, survey area, institution and location, sample type and research subject. First, in case of the research method, primary field survey/monitoring showed the highest rate. In addition, statistical analysis was as follows. Frequency/descriptive analysis were used as the highest rate. Survey area was a high percentage in case of Seoul/Incheon/Gyeong-gi province. In case of the institution and location, school/university showed the highest rate. In the sample type, foodservice employee/dietitian/nutrition teacher showed the highest rate. In this study, the most important research subjects were classified study subjects into seven by taking advantage of the previous studies. The greatest numerical study in seven study subjects was 'service quality and customers'(28.9%), and the following subjects were 'foodservice operation'(26.4%), 'hygiene, security and microbiology' (15.8%), 'organization and human resource' (15.5%). But it is noteworthy that 'marketing and strategic management'(9.6%) and 'education and training'(3.1%) of lower research results in this study are also important fields in institutional foodservice industry. Moreover, the study of such subjects is considered more necessary in the future.
This study searched the perception of observational evaluation system in visual art which elementary and middle school teachers have in mind. As results, observational evaluation system in visual art is widely accepted as important and efficient to diagnose the artistic giftedness. At the same time, subjectiveness of the system might be advantageous for student for whom teacher get favor and in-service program related to observational evaluation system is insufficient comparing to the demand from field. In spite of this, the scale for behavioral characteristics of the gifted in visual art and the test for artistic task performance are recognized as the most important and needed tools for evaluating artistic giftedness. Following the results, in order to raise up the validity and reliability of evaluation in visual art, the scales for behavioral characteristics of the gifted in visual art and the test for artistic task performance should be developed first and foremost.
Periodontal inflammation increases the risk of tooth loss, particularly in cases where there is an associated loss of alveolar bone and periodontal ligament (PDL). Histological and morphometric evaluation of periodontal inflammation is difficult. Especially, the lengths of the periodontal ligament and interdental alveolar bone space have not been quantified. A quantitative imaging procedure applicable to an animal model would be an important clinical study. The purpose of this study was to quantify the loss of alveolar bone and periodontal ligament by evaluation with micro-computed tomography (micro-CT). Another purpose was to investigate differences in infections with systemic E. coli LPS and TNF-${\alpha}$ on E. coli lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in loss of alveolar bone and periodontal ligament model on mice. This study showed that linear measurements of alveolar bone loss were represented with an increasing trend of the periodontal ligament length and interdental alveolar process space. The effects of systemic E. coli LPS and TNF-${\alpha}$ on an E. coli LPS-induced periodontitis mice model were investigated in this research. Loss of periodontal ligament and alveolar bone were evaluated by micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) and calculated by the two- and three dimensional microstructure morphometric parameters. Also, there was a significantly increasing trend of the interdental alveolar process space in E. coli LPS and TNF-${\alpha}$ on E. coli LPS compared to PBS. And E. coli LPS and TNF-${\alpha}$ on E. coli LPS had a slightly increasing trend of the periodontal ligament length. The increasing trend of TNF-${\alpha}$ on the LPS-induced mice model in this experiment supports the previous studies on the contribution of periodontal diseases in the pathogenesis of systemic diseases. Also, our findings offer a unique model for the study of the role of LPS-induced TNF-${\alpha}$ in systemic and chronic local inflammatory processes and inflammatory diseases. In this study, we performed rapidly quantification of the periodontal inflammatory processes and periodontal bone loss using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) in mice.
Background and Purpose : Emergencies in the school setting occurs frequently. Therefore, the role of first responders is important. General teachers in elementary schools are expected by first responders in school emergencies. This study attempted to assess needs and demands assessment on the first aid education of general teachers in elementary schools. Method : The subjects of this study were 71 general teachers from 8 elementary schools. Data were collected by the questionnaire during the period from March 19 to April 13, 2007. The data were analyzed through frequency, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, Independent Two samples t-test, paired T-test, One Way ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation by SPSS win 12.0. Result : 1. It showed that 47.9%(34 persons) of general teachers answerd that they experienced emergencies in elementary school setting. Experienced emergencies were wounds(cut, laceration, abrasion etc.) 79.4%(27 persons), bleeding(including epistaxis) 64.7%(22 person), fracture(including dislocation, sprain) 44.1%(15 person), sting or bite 29.4%(10 persons). 2. It showed that 95.8%(68 persons) of subjects answerd that first aid education are necessary. Also 91.5%(65 persons) of subjects answerd that will be educated first aid if opportunities is given. 3. The total mean showed $2.39{\pm}.40$ in necessities of first aid education and $2.17{\pm}.36$ in needs of first aid education by 3 points Likert scale. Ranking 1 in necessities and needs of first aid education was bleeding control. 4. The total mean in necessities and needs of first aid education showed statistically significant differences(t = 3.453, p = .002). 5. The necessities of first aid education showed significant positive correlations with necessities and needs of first aid education(r = .521, p = .002). Conclusion : These results suggest that education program of first aid on elementary general teachers must be developed through necessities and needs assessment of first aid education and instructors must searched methods to increase needs of first aid.
This study investigated the learning process of Chines international student within a technology environment, who was studying in Korea to be well equipped as a math teacher in future. Her activities were observed and guided in a class for pre-service teachers in one university, Kyunggido, in the second semester of 2014. She experienced obstacles such as the lacks of comprehending Korean sentences, Korean math terminologies, mathematical concepts, and fidelities of technology in her learning. She was recovered by bilingual effect, visualization activities, repetition activities, and group activities. There was a learning helper who made her learning possible in a bilingual way. Thus, the bilingual education is crucial for students with multi-cultural background.
The purpose of the study was to investigate the status of the nutritional education program on educational perception, facilities, contents and systems, which were focused on the school obesity education in the elementary school. A five point Likert scale was used to evaluate the importance and performance of each item in four sections of the survey and Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA; gap between importance and performance) matrix analysis was applied to determine improvement priority. The findings from IPA matrix analysis are in the following. The items of the sections to be improved intensively are recognition of parents and in-charge teacher, availability of the education place, preparation of consulting room, preparation of various teaching media, interest of an education program, meal adjustment of overweight children, combination with education and exercise, education for psychological factors, development of scientific and systematic education program and reduction of meal service duty for education. Accordingly, the IPA matrix analysis suggested that an intensive improvement area should be excessively concentrated on for better performance. The regional gap between importance and performance showed significant difference for textbook and diet of overweight children in Kyunggi-Do. There were significant differences for the government perception, dietary habits and food-life education, fast-food education, education for breakfast importance, and education of school meal indication system and method to read food nutrition indication in Chollabuk-Do. As for the age gap between importance and performance, the twenties showed significantly bigger gaps in perception of school dietitians and linking between school meals and diet education. Therefore, more proactive efforts for the education for obesity prevention are necessary to prevent childhood obesity in elementary school and to help children to possess better health throughout their entire lives.
This study examined what meaning East Asian women showed in their costume history through a discourse of hair adornments such as wigs and that Gache was not just a luxury decoration. In addition, we examined Gache hair trends with Eonjeun-meori (braid wraps around the entire head) in the Joseon dynasty (Korea), Gigye(旗?) hair in the Quing dynasty (China) and Mage(?) hair in the Edo period (Japan) during the $18^{th}$ and $19^{th}$ centuries. The significance of the phenomenon of East Asian Gache culture in the $18^{th}$ and $19^{th}$ centuries was analyzed from the internal desires of women. The details are as follows. First, the magnification by the hair decoration was identified with self-authority and used as a sign to express self-respect or a desire for self-esteem. The extended Gache was an external body extension to raise self-authority and increase activeness. Second, self-satisfaction through showing off was associated with a women's search for identity. There was excessive consumption to boast status, wealth and femininity, but the mania continued because women obtained psychological satisfaction by feeling that their sacrifices for the Confucian order were compensated. Third, the frenzy of Gache was accepted as a way for women to resist social regulations and find themselves as main participants in social activities. Showing their appearance in East Asian Gache culture was a way of inner self-searching and a process for women to find themselves as a social entity.
The purpose of this study was to investigate relationships between teachers' sense of self-efficacy and their job satisfaction to improve the quality of child care centers. It is crucial for teachers to have self-efficacy to reveal their potential for change and have opportunities to work better. In addition to teachers' self-efficacy, teachers' job satisfaction should be added to offer better child care service for parents as well as children. In this study, teachers' personalities and self-efficacy were compared between public and private child care centers to have further discussion making a progress of their job satisfaction. The results of this study are as follows : (a)The location of child care centers have meaningful effects on teachers' job satisfaction both in public and private child care centers equally. (b)Teachers in public child care centers have stronger influences on self-efficacy in home-related education and positive learning environment than teachers in private child care centers. (c)Teachers' participation in decision making is a significant factor that has affects on teachers' job satisfaction both in public and private child care centers.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between high school teachers' grit and stress coping strategies and to understand differences in stress coping strategies by cluster types of grit. 226 in-service teachers participated in the survey who took the professional development program in the national educational training institute. Results are as follows. First, perseverance of effort in grit was the positively independent variable toward task-oriented and emotion-oriented strategies. The avoidance-oriented strategy was negatively influenced by consistency of interest in grit. Also, the clusters of high grit and high perseverance of effort in grit showed higher means in task-oriented and emotion-oriented strategies than the cluster of low grit. Finally, researchers discussed the importance of strengthening high school teachers' grit for them to cope with job stress effectively.
