  • Crack sealing has been widely used in the pavement maintenance due to its advantage of repairing the cracks at the preliminary stages. However, it has been analyzed that the crack sealing work process is dangerous and labor intensive. Moreover, quality and productivity of crack sealing work are highly depended on labor experience and skills. Therefore, various crack sealing machines have been researched but revealed many limitations in practical application. This research analyses conventional crack sealing work process and previously developed crack sealing machines in order to develop an automated pavement crack sealing machine which can be practically and widely applied in the construction fields. This paper develops the previously proposed conceptual design by drawing detailed designs and fabricating the hardware(manipulator and end-effector) of the automated pavement crack sealing machine. The crack sealing machine suggested in this paper overcomes limitations of existing crack sealing machines and designed to meet the domestic road conditions and regulations. It is expected that automating the conventional crack sealing method contributes to the improvement of quality, economy and reduce accidents.

  • Since logical ground and method to deduct location to install Integrated Standard Controller under development to combine physically and functionally multiple enclosures of controllers for various ITS equipments on streets into one enclosure, there are much difficulty to apply it to site. Particularly we need to establish standardized methodology to deduct optimal location to integrate individual controllers installed dispersedly on streets such as node part and line part. Accordingly this study has the purpose of suggesting more reasonable and efficient methodology to determine location for Integrated Standard Controller to be developed newly. For this, new solution has been searched by using centroid which is utilized to decide facility location in urban planning. As the result of analysis, central point among centroid, in which equal connection to each equipment is possible is proved to be the most reasonable and correct coordinate and zone is proposed as installation location through designating coordinate system. The methodology suggested by this study seems to have high degree of utilization in site according to expansion of integrated standard controller market.

  • The equipment composed of many complicated electronic stuffs undergoes diverse stresses caused by mechanical vibrations during its service. Thus, to ensure its proper operation in the field a simulated vibration test has to be carried out in the laboratory with the Vibration Qualification Level, the test specification, which can include the real environment. In this paper we intent to deal with method and procedure for determining the Vibration Qualification Level so as to estimate the vibration-endurance for the equipment precisely.

  • Consumers require various quality characteristics including safety. The reduction of risk concerned on product safety becomes an urgent issue in leading companies. The strategy for customer satisfaction by choosing attractive quality characteristic is not enough for risk reduction in view of producer. This paper presents a method for choosing quality characteristics and risk characteristics by integrating QFD based on quality requirements and AHP based on safety requirements, also shows its application for complex equipment.

  • The surveillance imaging equipments are functioning to observe the shape of the target in real time or to measure its location precisely. The roles of such equipments are becoming more important in today's weapon systems. The aforementioned imaging equipments can be classified based on the modes of operations such as fixed, installed on cars, or composite of those. Also, according to different concepts of sensor operation, a separate type uses independent housing for each sensor whereas in a composite type a set of multiple sensors are housed into a unit altogether. The sensors in general have magnetism, thereby introducing the possible negative effects, particularly in the composite types, in locating the reference position, which is carried out by the digital compass. The use of shielding material/housing could be an option but results in increased weight and reduced portability, restricting its use in composite type equipments. As such, the objective of this paper is to study on how to reduce such magnetic effects on the position location. To do so, in the absence of magnetic shielding, a variety of sensor positions were first modeled. By combing the result with the fact that the functions of PAN & Tilt are used in the equipments, a new position location algorithm is proposed. The use of the new algorithm can automate the position location process as compared to the manual process of the existing approach. In the algorithm developed, twelve locations are measured in connection with both the azimuth and elevation angles in comparison to the six locations alone around the azimuth angle. As a result, it turns out that the measurement range has been widened but the measurement time reduced. Also, note that the effect of errors the operators may make during measurement could be reduced.

  • Power cables installed in domestic factories or underground can cause accidents depending on the manufacturing process, installation, and environmental conditions during use. When an accident occurs in a power cable, it can cause enormous economic loss and social confusion. Hence, the importance of preventive management of the cable through diagnosis is increasing to prevent it. Therefore, in this paper, a diagnostic sample cable was produced by simulating a part that could be a problem due to the installation, manufacturing defects, or deterioration of cables that can occur in the field. Dielectric loss Tangent (tan 𝛿; TD), and Partial Discharge(PD) tests were performed. Partial discharge and AC (60Hz) withstand voltage equipment using High-Frequency Current Transformer (HFCT) were applied After applying a VLF (Very Low Frequency) power supply with a frequency of 0.1Hz was applied. As a result, B and C phase defect samples at a 2.0U0 voltage through the VLF could measure the internal partial discharge in the A-phase normal sample cable from the noise at a 0.5U0 to 2.0U0 voltage. In addition, the 1.5U0 voltage was measured through the AC (60Hz) withstand voltage equipment of the commercial frequency to verify its effectiveness. Partial discharge in the run-off state was measured at a voltage of 1.0U0, and there was a risk when installing the equipment. AC power equipment showed a difficulty of movement by volume or weight. The diagnostic method, through the VLF of the quadrant state, revealed its safety and effectiveness.

  • The number of traffic control equipment installed to prevent traffic accidents increases every year due to continuous installation by the National Police Agency and local governments. However, it is installed based on qualitative judgment rather than engineering analysis results. The purpose of this study was to present additional installations in the future by presenting the installation criteria considering the severity of accidents for each road type and calculating the appropriate number of installations. ARI indicators that can indicate the severity of traffic accidents were developed, and road types were classified through analysis of variance and cluster analysis, and accident information by road type was analyzed to derive ARI of clusters with high traffic accident severity. The ARI values required to determine the installation of equipment for each road type were presented, and 5,244 additional installation points were analyzed.

  • We frequently confront with cars interfering into our lane on the ramp. We suffered from serious traffic congestion due to the interfering cars. But the police enforcement has not done actively because it's hard to enforce. In this study, we have evaluated the systems to enforce cutting-in cars through the field test. Generally, the image processing method depends on the weather. To overcome this limitation we proposed a new algorithm combined with section detection method. In the filed test we concluded the results as follows. Whereas the violation detection rate of the general image processing was 58.2%, a new algorithm proposed by this study was 74.5%. And, an error rate enforcing vehicles that do not violate was 0.0%. Also, we can use the existing facilities, such as street light because of compact and lightweight systems which are integrated camera with controller. Therefore, we concluded that it is possible to enforce the interfering Cars using vehicle enforcement systems.
