Crystal Structure of Rattus norvegicus Visfatin/PBEF/Nampt in Complex with an FK866-Based Inhibitor

  • Visfatin (Nampt/PBEF) plays a pivotal role in the salvage pathway for $NAD^+$ biosynthesis. Its potent inhibitor, FK866, causes cellular $NAD^+$ levels to decline, thereby inducing apoptosis in tumor cells. In an effort to improve the solubility and binding interactions of FK866, we designed and synthesized IS001, in which a ribose group is attached to the FK866 pyridyl ring. Here, we report the crystal structure of rat visfatin in complex with IS001. Like FK866, IS001 is positioned at the dimer interface, and all of the residues that interact with IS001 are involved in hydrophobic or ${\pi}-{\pi}$-stacking interactions. However, we were unable to detect any strong interactions between the added ribose ring of IS001 and visfatin, which implies that a bulkier modifying group is necessary for a tight interaction. This study provides additional structure-based information needed to optimize the design of visfatin inhibitors.

  • 본 연구에서는 이들 문제점을 극복하기 위해 수도권을 대상으로 하여 용수를 사용하는 소비자의 BOD 개선정도별 지불의사(WTP)를 설문을 조사하고, 설문결과를 통계분석하여 수질개선(BOD)-지불의사(WTP) 관계식을 도출하였다. 이때 설문응답자가 최대한 설문대상재화를 객관적이고, 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 설문지를 작성하였다. 사례연구로서 낙동강수계의 내성천 지방2급하천 구간에 계획한 송리원다목적댐을 대상으로 상수도 원수수질개선에 대한 편익을 산정하였다. 사례연구로서 낙동강수계의 내성천 지방2급하천 구간에 계획한 송리원다목적댐을 대상으로 적용하였다. 방류시나리오별 연평균편익산정 결과, 연평균계획방류량$(4.79\;m^3/s)$ 방류시 5,980 백만원, 풍수기(7$\sim$10월)를 제외한 기간의 계획방류량$(7.22\;m^3/s)$ 방류시 8,663 백만원, 수질악화기 계획방류량$(10.72\;m^3/s)$ 방류시 11,905 백만원, 최대계획방류량$(13.54\;m^3/s)$ 방류시 14,502 백만원으로 산정되었다. 본 연구에서 개발된 가구소득별 수질개선(BOD)-지불의사(WTP) 관계식을 이용함으로써 수질개선사업에 대한 원수수질편익을 산정할 때 사업전 후의 수질분석만 이루어진다면 실무에서 활용 가능한 편익산정방법이 될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

폴리머시멘트고화체에서의 폴라머첨가가 압축강도에 미치는 영향

  • 방사성농축폐액처리를 위한 Polymer-Modified-portlandcement 고화체는 Polymer 및 시멘트, 물을 혼합매질로 제조되며 농축폐액처리를 위해 Emulsion Polymer를 사용하였으며 PMC 고화체의 물성을 평가하기위한 고화체의 제조에서 이들 매질의 최적혼합비를 찾기 위해 Polymer 및 물, 시멘트의 혼합비를 1/1/2,1/2/4,1/3/9 등 혼합비에 따른 시편 및 Polymer 첨가량의 증가에 따라 함유비를 달리하는 시편을 제조하여 경화시간별 압축강도를 측정하였으며 매질의 최적혼합비 및 폴리머의 투입비를 구하고자하였다. 특성평가시험을 위한 시편으로는 직경 50, 높이 100mm(L/D=2) 인시편을 제조하여 압축강도를 측정하였으며 폴리머와 시멘트의 결합상태를 확인하기위해 SEM사진을 통한 미세구조를 관찰하였으며 시험결과 P/W/C의비가 1/3/9인 혼합비시편의 압축강도가 $343.36Kg_f/cm^2$로 가장 높았으며 폴리머의 함유량을 달리한 시험에서는 7%폴리머 함유시편은 $397.24Kg_f/cm^2$, 20% 폴리머함유시편은 $175.36Kg_f/cm^2$으로 폴리머의 함유량이 7~15% 이내의 폴리머함유고화체가 적합한 것으로 판단되었으며 폴리머의 투입양이 증가할수록 압축강도가 감소하였으며 경화시간도 최소4주이상 되어야하는 것으로 판단되었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 RT(Real Time)기반의 IPMSM(Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) 설계 및 해석, 평가 플랫폼을 개발하고자한다. GUI(Graphical User Interface)로 제작 된 플랫폼 실행창에서 설계변수의 수치적 입력을 통해 설계 자동화를 구현하며, 수치해석프로그램 FEMM과 연동함으로써 전동의 전자계 해석 및 제어정수의 추출을 수행한다. 아울러 추출된 제어정수를 이용, Simulink의 실시간 시뮬레이션을 통해 IPMSM의 제어를 수행하여 통합적 설계 해석 평가를 도출한다.

MS64: A Fast Stream Cipher for Mobile Devices (모바일 단말에 적합한 고속 스트림 암호 MS64)

  • In this paper, we proposed fast stream cipher MS64 for use mobile that it is secure, fast, and easy to implement software. The proposed algorithm use the fast operating 213-bit arithmetic shift register(ASR) to generate a binary sequence and produce 64-bit stream cipher by using simple logical operation in non linear transform. MS64 supports 128-bit key in encryption algorithm and satisfy with the safety requirement in modern encryption algorithm. In simulation result shows that MS64 is faster than a 32-bit stream cipher SSC2 in the speed of operation with small usage of memory thus MS64 can be used for mobile devices with fast ciphering.

  • Objectives: We have accomplished a clinical research about counteracting the pesticides intoxication using oriental medical method and treatment. And we observed the preventive effect of Gamdu-tang(甘豆湯) to intoxication of Organophosphorus Insecticides. Material and Methods: The subjects were 8 volunteers who were healthy and not taking medications. we observed change of cholinesterase(ChE) activity in serum of them after exposed to pesticides Results and Conclusions : In this study of the preventive effects of Gamdu-tang(甘豆湯) on the intoxication of Organophosphate Insecticides, we evaluated that the decreasing value of ChE activity after spraying insecticides of Gamdu-tang medication group was smaller than non-medication group, but it was less significant(P>0.05 P<0.1). We had a difficult to gather participant in this study, so it's necessary for us to get together more larger group in the next study.

  • Recently, the significance of Green-Energy led by low-carbon Green-Development is increasing as well in Korea. Among them, the most practical solution is the cogeneration which performs the best energy efficiency. This paper addresses the two of RCS(Regional Cogeneration System) connecting heat each other. It is conducted to quantitatively evaluate algorithm that optimally operate the heat transaction considering various operating modes. The proposed method is tested using the real system. Through the case studies, it is verified that the proposed algorithm of heat transaction can evaluate availability.

  • Traditional Korean paper called Hanji using bast fibers from mulberry tree is made through complicated handmade works. This made Hanji very strong and exceedingly durable. Therefore it is said to last a thousand years. Such incomparable features of Hanji come from the unique sheet forming method called ouibalttugi using a bamboo screen. Excellent physical properties of Hanji reflect the wide variety of use, all central to everyday life. Despite its Excellency, the papermaking practice of traditional handmade paper, Hanji, from Korea is little known outside its country. This might be due to public apathy on Hanji in modern times. Without future apprentices dedicated to the craft, the Korean tradition able to make its soul is in danger of extinction in its homeland. Therefore more concern and more affection on Hanji is required immediately. It must be kept in mind that Hanji is our cultural heritage in pride over time.

A Study on Sterilization Characteristics of Elliptical Reactor by Using Xenon Flashlamp and Photocatalyst (Xenon flashlamp와 광촉매를 이용한 타원형 반응기의 살균 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we invented a new and unique technique for the sterilization of Escherichia coli(E. coli) in polluted water. We applied a rich ultra-violet(UV) light from pulsed xenon flashlamp and photocatalyst(TiO2) to sterilize E. coli in polluted water. This method based on the use of UV light and photocatalyst is eco-friendly and does not cause secondary pollution. The proposed elliptical reactor is able to concentrate on quartz sleeve coated TiO2 or general quartz sleeve. The primary objective of our research was to determine the important parameters such as pulse repetition rate and input voltage and to know on the sterilizing efficiency of quartz sleeve coated TiO2 and general quartz sleeve. We obtained to achieve 99.999% sterilization in as little as 6 pulses at 800V in case of quartz sleeve coated Ti02, and 10 pulses at 800V in case of general quartz sleeve for 5 minutes. Although transmitted light of quartz sleeve coated TiO2 is deceased, the sterilizing efficiency is increased by 40% than general quartz sleeve. The reason of high sterilizing efficiency is that generated hydroxyl radical(OH) by photocatalyst and is able to concentrate light at a focus by using elliptical reactor.

  • It is necessary to charge electric vehicles in order to drive them. Thus, it is essential to have electric vehicle charging facilities in place. In the case of a household battery charger, the power similar to that consumed by a household with a basic contract power of 3kW is consumed. In addition, many consumers who own an electric vehicle will charge their vehicles at the same time. The simultaneous charging of electric vehicles will cause the load to increase, which then will lead to the imbalance of supply and demand in the distribution system. Thus, a smart charging scheme for electric vehicles is an essential element. In this paper, simulated conditions were set up using real data relating to Korea in order to design a smart charging technique suitable for the actual situation. The simulated conditions were used to present a smart charging technique for electric vehicles that disperses electric vehicles being charged simultaneously. The EVs and Smart Charging Technique are modeled using the Electro Magnetic Transients Program (EMTP).
