Despite the fact that the phenomenal success of the classical model in phonology in terms of a small set of binary atomic primitives has encouraged the use of criterical features in the characterization of syntactic and semantic categories, cognitive linguists have recently found many evidences against it and proposed a valid alternative like prototype approach to classical model of linguistic categorization. In this paper the examples with prototype effects are shown in phonology, morphology, and syntax. In phonology there is no clear-cut borderline in initial sounds such as / r, m, n, v, ${\eth}$, z, w. j, b. d, g / and between vowels and consonants. In morphology family resemblance is shown between strong verbs and past tenses. In syntax there is no borderline among various kinds of sentences such as declarative, command, WH-question, yes-no question, etc.

This paper deals with the design of a recursively-indexed binary code for facsimile soruces and its performance. Sources used here are run-lengths of white pixels form higher-resolution facsimile. The modified huffman code used for G.3 facsimile is chosen for the performance comparison. Experiments confirm the fact that recursive indexing preserves the entropy of a memoryless geometric source: the entropy of recursively-indexed physical surce iwth roughly geometric distributin remains within 2% of the empirical source entropy. The designed recursively-indexed binary codes consist of a code applied to text-type documents and to graphics - type documents is compared iwth that of the modified huffman code. Numerical resutls show that the modified huffman code performs well for text-type documents and not equally well for graphics-tyep documents. On the other hand, recursively-indexed binary codes have shown a better performance for graphics-type documents whose distribution are similar to a geometric distribution. Specifically, the code rates of recursively-indexed binary codes with 60 codewords are from 8% to 20% of the empirical source entropy smaller than that of th emodified huffman code with 91 codewords.

This work presents a new strategy to model stress dependent relaxation process in large deformation. The strategy is relied on the fact that in some particular soft materials undergoing large deformation, e.g., elastomers, rubbers and soft tissues, the relaxation time depends strongly on stress levels. To simplify the viscoelastic model, we consider that the relaxation time is the function of previous elastic deviatoric stress state experienced by materials during loading. Using the General Maxwell Model (GMM), we simulate numerically conditions with the constant and the stress dependent relaxation time for uniaxial tension and compression loading. Hence, it can be shown that the proposed model herein not only can represent different relaxation time for different stress level but also maintain the capability of the GMM to model hysteresis phenomena.

A method of the colorimetric determination of titanium has been developed, based on the fact (IV) forms a stable blue complex with methylthymolblue(MTB) which is suitable for spectrophotometric determination of titanium in the concentration range of 0.2 to 22 $\mu$g per ml as $TiO_2$. The determination was carried out in the solution of pH range of 2.6 to 3.6, and the absorbancy of complex was at 600m$\mu$ with Coleman spectrophotometer. Titanium forms a 1:1 complex with MTB, which has a molar absorptivity, $1.1{\times}10^4$ at 600m\mu$. The effects of hydrogen ion concentration, reagent concentration, stability of complex, and hydrolysis were studied. Most of cations do not interfere seriously; however, many of anions such as oxalate, citrate, phosphate, chloride interfere in this determination.

This paper proposes a spherical probe allowing acoustic intensity measurements in three dimensions to be made, which creates a diffracted field that is well-defined, thanks to analytic solution of diffraction phenomena. Six microphones are distributed on the surface of the sphere along three rectangular axes. Its measurement technique is not based on finite difference approximation, as is the case for the ID probe but on the analytic solution of diffraction phenomena. In fact, the success of sound source identification depends on the inverse models used to estimate inverse diffraction phenomena, which has non-linear properties. In this paper, we introduce the concept of nonlinear inverse diffraction modeling using a neural network and the idea of 3 dimensional sound source identification with several tests.

The stability and performance (peel strength) of the acrylic copolymer and various modified rosin systems were investigated. The peel strength was measured over a wide range of scaling rates, and the influence of the viscoelasticity of the PSA(pressure sensitive adhesive) was considered. In the case of miscible systems, the peak of peel strength (PSA performance) over wide peel rates was changed and modified systematically with increasing glass transition temperature of the blends. The peak of the peel strength for blended systems shifts toward the lower rate side as glass transition temperature ($T_g$) of the blend increased. The influence of esterification of the rosin on performance and stability against deterioration was greatly modified by blending with rosin of glycerol ester and rosin pentaerythritol ester. The failure mode of the blend varies with the combination with acrylic copolymer and modified rosin, and cohesive failure was found at a lower peel rate while interfacial failure was found at a high peel rate. A few systems where a single Tg could be measured, despite the fact that two phases were observed microscopically, were detected.

Linzhi Native Pig is a unique local breed recently discovered in the hinterland of Tibet. Its geological distribution, natural environment and ecological conditions have been explored. Using random sampling in typical colony of classification and standard animal-scientific and biogenetic techniques, we examined its contour features, size and weight, reproductive performances, carcass characters, meat quality, fresh-keeping features and the frequency distribution in the 19 structural gene loci encoding enzymes and proteins; according to folklores and Tibetan, Chinese and English history books, the materials and literature of Tibetan Studies, we have analyzed its origin and affirmed the fact that its products have been consumed as Tibetan medicine resources. Our findings make certain that Linzhi Native Pig holds great potential value in economy and culture.

A finite group G is called (l, m, n)-generated, if it is a quotient group of the triangle group T(l, m, n) = 〈$\chi$, y, z│$\chi$$\^$l/ = y$\^$m/ = z$^n$ = $\chi$yz = 1〉. In [19], the question of finding all triples (l, m, n) such that non-abelian finite simple group are (l, m, n)-generated was posed. In this paper we partially answer this question for the sporadic group Ru. In fact, we prove that if p, q and r are prime divisors of │Ru│, where p < q < r and$.$(p, q) $\neq$ (2, 3), then Ru is (p, q, r)-generated.

Two measurement techniques of droplet sizing, an imaging technique(PMAS) and a phase-Doppler measurement technique (PDPA), have been compared using a water spray from a pressurized-type swirl nozzle. The result showed that SMD measured by PDPA was larger than that measured by PMAS by about 40 %. Such discrepancy of SMD could be explained by the fact that the light signal intensity used by PDPA can be biased towards larger particles. On the other hand there could be lower opportunity to capture the images of the large particles with PMAS, since the large particles could be out of sight due to their high speed.
