A Study on the Emotional Space Design Study According to Ceiling Height - Focusing on the Body Movement - (천장높이에 따른 감성공간디자인 연구 - 몸의 움직임을 중심으로 -)

  • These days, Emotional Design is on the sustainable development through activity study thogh, until now, the study proceed too far with Sensibility Ergonomics applied to SD. However, on this paper, the study would be make progress through GSD that it applied to Verb. For this reason, applied to Emotional Design consideration of theory through JOAN MEYERS-LEVY's papaer titled "The Influence of Ceiling Height", Laban Movement Analysis and Aspect of Semiotics and then judgement of GSD would be make progress through experiment to collection of Emotional Vocabularies and evaluation of body movement. There is a method of analysis by using statistical program such as SPSS 18.0 and it would have validity of analysis. Here is a result of this study. According to heights of ceiling types(2.4M, 3.0M) there are differences between behavior of Figure Attachment, Emotional Vocabularies of the event and Body Movement. While the Figure Attachment has a tendency to restricted scope, CH has a tendency to make attachment within the scope. You could see the Negative Adjective for Emotional Vocabularies at CL and the Positive Adjective ranges at the CH. Basic body movement for passive, 'moving' and 'stretching' as shown at CL more than the CH. For active movement which has purpose, 'moving the weight' and 'stretching' as shown at CH more than at CL.

Characteristics of Autonomic Nervous System Responses Induced by Anger in Individuals with High Trait Anxiety (분노유발에 따른 특성불안자의 자율신경계 반응 특성)

  • Individuals with high trait anxiety try to suppress their anger expression, thus there are limits in measuring their anger using subjective behavioral evaluation. In order to overcome this limitation, this study attempted to identify the difference in the autonomic nervous system responses induced by anger in individuals with high trait anxiety. Participants were divided into two groups, anxiety and control groups. Electrocardiogram (ECG), respiration (RESP), electrodermal activity (EDA), and skin temperature (SKT) were measured while participants were presented with an anger-inducing stimulus. Heart rate (HR), standard deviation of NN interval (SDNN), root mean square of successive difference (RMSSD), low frequency (LF), high frequency (HF), LF/HF ratio, respiration rate (RR), skin conductance level (SCL), and maximum skin temperature (maxSKT) were calculated before and after presenting the stimulus. Anxiety group reported greater anger by the anger-inducing stimulus compared to the control group. Anxiety group also showed significant increase in SDNN and LF, and decrease in HF, LF/HF ratio, and RR. These results suggest that the autonomic nervous system responses may be used as objective indicators of anger experiences in individuals with high trait anxiety.

Frontal Theta/Beta Ratio Predicts Attentional Bias to Threat In Individuals with High Social Anxiety (고 사회 불안 성인의 위협 자극에 대한 주의 편향 및 전두 영역 Theta-Beta Ratio (TBR) 패턴)

  • Individuals with high social anxiety (HSA) exhibit an excessive bias toward socially threatening stimuli. The purpose of this study is to identify attentional bias patterns toward threat stimuli in people with HSA (but not those with social anxiety disorder, SAD). Furthermore, our goal was to investigate neural biomarkers that can predict these attentional bias patterns in people with HSA. We collected and analyzed behavioral data on attentional bias patterns, anxiety levels, social anxiety levels, and the frontal region theta/beta ratio using an electroencephalogram (EEG) from 33 neurotypical female adults. For analysis, we divide participants into two categories: (1) HSA and (2) low social anxiety (LSA). The results showed that both the HSA and LSA groups had an initial attentional bias toward emotional faces, but only the HSA group had a prolonged attentional bias toward angry faces. Furthermore, a significant positive correlation was found between the attentional bias score and the social anxiety score. Additionally, a decreased theta/beta ratio significantly explained the degree of attention bias in the HSA group and was a significant predictor of attentional bias in this group. Overall, this study finds that individuals with HSA exhibit similar patterns of attentional bias to those found in patients with SAD, as identified in previous research. Moreover, the findings suggest that a decreased frontal theta/beta ratio is associated with excessive attentional biases in HSA individuals. These findings contribute to our understanding of the behavioral and neurological pathophysiology associated with high levels of social anxiety, potentially assisting in the development of appropriate evaluation methods and the determination of the effect of the treatment intervention.

  • To find out characteristics of TV home shopping's virtual space deepness styling, this study had analysis characteristics of space deepness which is showed on flat TV screen with actually aired 6 dinnerware sales case, at $C^*$ home shopping, March.2005~November.2010, and survey consumer's emotional verbal image according to space styling character to get space deepness, which were shown on flat TV screen with camera angle, and research mutual relation with consumer preference. Also consumer's typical emotional verbal images for each space styling images for brand dinner ware sales had been extracted with reliability analysis, factor analysis, and multi dimensional scaling MDS using SPSS. Styling characteristics of space deepness were contrast of size, layering, vertical arrangement, and perspective arrangement, and used camera angles were bird's eye view, hi angle, and eye level. Result from the research is, highly marked consumer preferred styling material had a deep corelation to material's main factor and perceived emotional verbal images. Therefore this research could bring forward to new consumer preferred styling characteristics according to camera angle. Furthermore, it will be possible to make a study of preferred styling material through evaluation of quantitative spectators of in this area.

A Evaluation Method for the Effectiveness of Anti-snore Pillow (코골이 방지 베개의 효율성 검증을 위한 방법)

  • In this study, the parameters of Polysomnography (PSG) test, such as total sleep time, snoring time, had been analyzed to evaluate the effectiveness of a developed anti-snore pillow. The developed anti-snore pillow is made up of two polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) vibration sensors, pumps, valves, and air bladders. The two PVDF sensors inside the pillow can acquire the sound signals and the algorithm was perfectly designed to extract snoring by removing unwanted noise accurately and automatically. Once the pillow recognizes snore, a pump inside the hardware activates, and a bladder under the neck area inside the pillow will be inflated. The PSG test was used and two volunteers were participated for the study. The parameters of the PSG results were analyzed to evaluate the effectiveness of the anti-snore pillow. The total sleep time of each volunteer was similar on each phase of test, but the snoring time and the longest snoring episode were significantly decreased with the use of anti-snore pillow. The overall results showed excellent possibilities for reducing snoring for the person who snores during sleep by using the anti-snore pillow. The effectiveness of the anti-snore pillow can be evaluated by the PSG test. Moreover, the relationship between each parameter of PSG test and the quality of sleep will be used for further researches.

  • This study aims to understand causal relationship among preference factors - preferred design, design image, and design elements-to create interaction between artists and spectators, concerning eating and drinking table decoration which is produced with subjective representation chiefly by virtue of the authors' conceptualization and planning. As an experimental research , face-to-face personal interviews have been made in off-line setting through questionnaires. Acquired information from it has been analyzed, which results are as follows. As harmonious, warm, womanish design image, combination of pink-tone similar colors were preferred. As image adjectives highly related with design preference were 'harmonious and inharmonious' A design factor of 'harmonious' was combination of similar colors, while that of 'inharmonious' was association of mixed colors. It has been found that 'colors' have been an important factor among preference design factors. As above, a new concept for design can be established by using data-based information, along with suggesting a direction for preferred design in the field of eating and drinking table decoration. Furthermore, it will be possible to make a study of new preferred design through evaluation of quantitative spectators in this area. It is expected that such researches could give an opportunity to get satisfactory results from newly experimented designs using quantitative data even in a creative design area, as well as table decoration.

Carbon-nanotube-based Spacer Fabric Pressure Sensors for Biological Signal Monitoring and the Evaluation of Sensing Capabilities (생체신호 모니터링을 위한 CNT 기반 스페이서 직물 압력센서 구현 및 센싱 능력 평가)

  • With recent innovations in the ICT industry, the demand for wearable sensing devices to recognize and respond to biological signals has increased. In this study, a three-dimensional (3D) spacer fabric was embedded in a single-wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) dispersive solution through a simple penetration process to develop a monolayer piezoresistive pressure sensor. To induce electrical conductivity in the 3D spacer fabric, samples were immersed in the SWCNT dispersive solution and dried. To determine the electrical properties of the impregnated specimen, a universal testing machine and multimeter were used to measure the resistance of the pressure change. Moreover, to examine the changes in the electrical properties of the sensor, its performance was evaluated by varying the concentration, number of penetrations, and thickness of the specimen. Samples that penetrated twice in the SWCNT distributed solution of 0.1 wt% showed the best performance as sensors. The 7-mm thick sensors showed the highest GF, and the 13-mm thick sensors showed the widest operating range. This study confirms the effectiveness of the simple process of fabricating smart textile sensors comprising 3D spacer fabrics and the excellent performance of the sensors.

  • The purpose of this study is to assess the ability of balance control in moving surround using head mount device and force platform and to examine the clinical usefulness of COP parameters. Fifteen patients with stroke and healthy persons were participated. COP parameters were obtained as total path distance, frequency of anterior-posterior and medial-lateral component by FFT analysis, weight-spectrum analysis in the two different conditions; (1) in comfortable standing with opened or closed eyes, (2) in virtual moving surround delivered using HMD to four different moving pattern. In virtual moving surround setting, moving pattern was composed of close-far, superior-inferior tilting(pitch), right-left tilting(roll) and horizontal rotation(yaw) movement. In all parameters, the reliebility of COP analysis system was significantly high.   • Product design is being recognized as an important source of sustainable competitive advantage. This research explores the effects of design evaluative elements on brand loyalty through design values. The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, most design evaluative elements have positive effects on design values. Aesthetic, unique, feminine, noble, and utilitarian elements of design evaluation influence three types of design values: rational, kinesthetic, and emotional. While unique design evaluative element does not have significant effects on rational and kinesthetic design values, it has significant affect on the emotional design value positively. Secondly, three types of design values have positive effects on attitudinal brand loyalty. In addition, emotional and kinesthetic design values have positive influences on behavioral brand loyalty. However, the emotional design value has an indirect effect on behavioral brand loyalty through attitudinal brand loyalty. Lastly, attitudinal brand loyalty has a significant influence on behavioral brand loyalty positively.

The effects of learning method, learning schedule, and task difficulty on the learning of computer software (학습방법, 학습계획, 과제 난이도가 소프트웨어 학습에 미치는 영향)

  • Quick and accurate learning of diverse electronic products has become an important daily task. In particular, software occupies core status in the control and operation of the products. This research tested the effects of learning method, schedule, and task difficulty in the learning of software. Using 2 (learning method: experiential vs. verbal) ${\times}$ 2 (learning schedule: spaced vs. massed) ${\times}$ 2 (difficulty: easy vs. difficult) between-subjects design, Experiment 1 tested participants' learning of file control using Windows Movie Maker. There was no effect of learning schedule on task completion time, but participants in experiential learning were faster in the completion of evaluation task compared with those in verbal learning condition. Importantly, as task difficulty increases participants in verbal condition showed markedly lower performance than those in experiential condition, which suggests that experiential learning is more effective with more difficult learning task. That is, in case of learning simple operation of software verbal learning using linguistic manual or instruction could be sufficient; on the other hand in case of learning complex operation learning from experience or tutorial mode would be more effective. Additional studies which manipulated task difficulty (Expt. 2) and inter-trial learning interval (Expt. 3) did not produce meaningful results.
