  • Digital documents takes place of paper (off-line) documents, because of the advantages of digital (on-line) documents: supply of information using dynamic contents and good to communize. However, users prefer paper documents to digital documents with the advantages of paper documents: inexpensive, handy to carry, and good to read. Therefore, for providing advantages of digital documents to users who prefer paper documents, many laboratories study about methods which augment digital documents to paper documents. In this paper, we propose the Hybrid Documents Authoring Tool (HDAT), which can insert, delete, and modify on-line information to the off-line. The proposed system is a unified authoring tool for reading and writing of on-line information. And we provide the most natural environment to users using computer vision technology without additional devices such as markers or patterns to retrieve documents. As shown by experimental results, we make sure that our proposed system has high usability and good efficiency on various environments through we measure the low-level of system requirement.

  • According as Internet based EC(Electronic Commerce) has been activated, More requirements for exchanging digital documents are being proposed in B2B(Business to Business) and B2G(Business to Government) environments. However, the documents can not be processed automatically, because the structures of documents in each site(companies, central/local governments) do not match. Therefore, W3C(World Wide Web Consortium) has proposed XML(eXtensible Markup Language) DTD(Document Type Declaration) technology to support structuring documents. The XML DTD technology can support interoperability between EC sites. And, XML DTD based documents can be processed automatically in every sites. They will improve efficiency of services in B2B and B2G environments. In this paper, we propose interoperable DTD architecture and IDEP(Interoperable DTD Exchange Protocol) protocol which supports searching DTDs and exchanging DTDs. This technology can popularize DTDs and digital documents.

  • Electronic documents have characteristics that detecting whether an electronic document is modified or not is not an easy process. Thus verifying integrity of documents is very important for using electronic documents. To facilitate this process, various electronic document software provide digital signature capabilities on themselves. However, there were not much research on the security of digital signature function of software. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the security of Adobe PDF, MS Word, Hancom Hangul, digital notary service and digital year-end-settlement service, and propose recommendations for implementation of digital signature funcion.

  • Digital documents have become the mainstay of the paperless office. This is due to the increased usage of computer networks and the widespread digital culture. Along with the increased usage of digital documents comes the problem of securing them. The documents nay have very important information such as confidential business policies and intellectual Property statements. Generally, most of users protect them by using a password or secured flash memory or security software, but it has several weaknesses. Accordingly, we propose a new architecture for securing digital documents. The proposed architecture bases on RFID and several encrypting techniques. It makes up for the weakness of traditional securing architectures, and supports various Policies for digital documents of users.

  • Due to the recent advances of IT industry, many companies and institutions have been used electronic documents rather than original paper copies. However, the characteristic of electronic document allows it to be readily damaged from proscribed copying, counterfeit, and falsification. These can cause the serious security problems for electronic documents. Conventional security methods for digital documents involve adding a separated image or marker, but these methods can reduce the readability of document. Therefore, we proposed a digital Jikin (Korean traditional stamp) which is normally used to identify the source or author of a document in asia. The proposed digital Jikin can preserve the readability of electronic document while protecting the document from proscribed copying, counterfeit, or falsification using image processing approach. In this paper, a digital Jikin application is designed and implemented under android platform and it converts the critical information of document onto the digital Jikin. The proposed digital Jikin contains important information in the boundary of Jikin not only about the author of documents or source, but also keywords, number of images, and many more. Therefore, the authenticity of document or whether the document has been altered or not by other person can be evaluated by the server. The proposed digital Jikin can be sent to a server through the wireless networks and can be stored using PHP and MySQL. We believe that the proposed method can offer the better and simple solution for strengthening the security of electronic document.

  • Circulation of documents and data has two serious problems in this web-based system. The first of the problems is standardization problem which the flowing documents and data are not always standardized. the other is security problem which secret data can be hacked or cracked, and non-authenticated Person can access and change the contents with malicious intent. Therefore two issues come out on the web-based system, the first is how we can standardize the documents and data and the second is how we can assure safe flowing of them. One way of the standardizing methods is Mark-UP language which uses XML which is extended from SGML to redefine and use documents. And to ensure security of flowing documents we adopt digital signature system using public key and private key The focus of this study is to specify procedures for digital signature on the XML base. and to design XML components for the digital signature to assure information security in circulation of documents and data.

  • One of the most important functions digital libraries need to offer is to help users find necessary information in a distributed environment in the most efficient and effective manner. In order to meet the goal, it is desirable to link scattered pieces of information and present them as a logically coherent whole when the user wants it, so that he or she doesn't need to know their physical location. The virtual document is an integrated document that the total or part of the physical documents stored in a specific repository are linked dynamically. Our MIRAGE-III digital library system provides a content-based retrieval of physical documents and the virtual documents in XML. This system provides a retrieval of partial documents, attributes and hierarchical structures and linked-documents based in structured documents like XML or SGML. In this paper we describe a methodology of design and implementation of the query processor and retrieval server in the MIRAGE-III digital library system.

  • As a rapid development of electronic commerce transactions in these days, the security and private protection problems became more important matters under the electronic transaction base. Because electronic transaction using electronic documents be carried without direct person to person meeting, there can be the possibility to use other's identity illegally without notice, and very hard to verify authenticity of transaction as well. In addition, it is very hard to find out that the electronic documents on the process of submitting is forged documents or not, and also have much difficulty in maintaining transmitting secret. Therefore, to solve such problems on electronic commerce transactions and electronic documents, the digital signature and certification system with cryptography skill is inevitably necessary. As the wide use of digital signature together with beginning of digital government and financial transaction, not only the issuance of electronic certification, but certification market came to gradually expand. In Korea, after enacting digital signature act in 1999, the act contents were expanded to the wide range of contents complying with global standards from the end of 2001 to April, 2002, including the new clause of certification problems. And the act was put into operation now. Therefore, in this paper, we'd like to suggest development scheme through the investigation on electronic certification related problems, such as, concepts, procedures, service conditions here and abroad.
