This paper aims to advance our understanding of extensible beams with multiple cracks by presenting a crack energy and motion equation, and mathematically justifying the energy functions of axial and bending deformations caused by cracks. Utilizing an extended form of Hamilton's principle, we derive a normalized governing equation for the motion of the extensible beam, taking into account crack energy. To achieve a closed-form solution of the beam equation, we employ a simple approach that incorporates the crack's patching condition into the eigenvalue problem associated with the linear part of the governing equation. This methodology not only yields a valuable eigenmode function but also significantly enhances our understanding of the dynamics of cracked extensible beams. Furthermore, we derive a governing equation that is an ordinary differential equation concerning time, based on orthogonal eigenmodes. This research lays the foundation for further studies, including experimental validations, applications, and the study of damage estimation and detection in the presence of cracks.
In this paper, we investigate the free vibration of axially loaded non-uniform Rayleigh cantilever beams. The Rayleigh beams account for the rotary inertia effect which is ignored in Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. Using an inverse problem approach we show, that for certain polynomial variations of the mass per unit length and the flexural stiffness, there exists a fundamental closed form solution to the fourth order governing differential equation for Rayleigh beams. The derived property variation can serve as test functions for numerical methods. For the rotating beam case, the results have been compared with those derived using the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory.

In this paper, an effective method in analyzing a class of bilinear systems via Taylor polynomials is proposed. The result derived by Yang and Chen shows an implicit form for unknown state vector and requires to solve a linear algebraic equation with large dimension when the number of terms used increase. In comparison to the result of Yang and Chen, the method in this paper gives a closed form for unknown state vector and does not need to solve any linear algebraic equation.

In this work, a recently developed semi-analytic technique, so called the residual power series method, is generalized to process higher-dimensional linear and nonlinear partial differential equations. The solutions obtained takes a form of an infinite power series which can, in turn, be expressed in a closed exact form. The results reveal that the proposed generalization is very effective, convenient and simple. This is achieved by handling the (m+1)-dimensional Burgers equation.
We analyzed radiation characteristics of dipole antenna in a lossy 9round with conducting object located above ground. Electric field integral equation is used to solve the problem. In this integral equation, GPOF(Generalized Pencil of Function) method is applied to derive the closed form of the electric field due to a current source. Surface current on a conductor is expanded with a well-known vector triangle basis function. The singular integration of a triangle patch is transformed to the non-singular integration by Duffy's method. This transformed non-singular integration is easily calculated by using one-dimensional Gaussian quadrature rule, instead of usual closed form evaluation.
The lower flash points for the binary system, n-butanol+n-decane, were measured by Pensky-Martens closed cup tester. The experimental results showed the minimum in the flash point versus composition curve. The experimental data were compared with the values calculated by the reduced model under an ideal solution assumption and the flash point-prediction models based on the Van Laar and Wilson equations. The predictive curve based upon the reduced model deviated form the experimental data for this system. The experimental results were in good agreement with the predictive curves, which use the Van Laar and Wilson equations to estimate activity coefficients. However, the predictive curve of the flash point prediction model based on the Willson equation described the experimentally-derived data more effectively than that of the flash point prediction model based on the Van Laar equation.

An inverse kinemetics problem of a reclaimer which digs and transports ironstones or coals in the raw yard is investigated. Because of the special features of the reclaimer of which scooping buckets are attached around the rotating drum at the end of boom, kinematic redundancy occurs in determining the joint varialbes For a given reclaiming point in space the forward kinematics yields 3 equations, however the number of involved variables in the equations are four. A plane equation approximating the surface near a reclaiming point is obtained by considering 8 adjacent points surrounding the reclaiming point. One extra equation to overcome redunduncyis further obtained from the condition that the normal vector at a reclaiming point is perpendicular to the plane. An approximate solution for a simplified problem is first discussed, Numerical solution for the oritinal nonlinear porblem with a constraint equation is also investigated. Finally a closed form solution which is not exact but sufficiently close enough is proposed by exploiting geometric constraint.
This paper presents the analytical solution of the fractional Fokker-Planck equation by Adomian decomposition method. By using initial conditions, the explicit solution of the equation has been presented in the closed form and then the numerical solution has been represented graphically. Two different approaches have been presented in order to show the application of the present technique. The present method performs extremely well in terms of efficiency and simplicity.

Topological matrix which reflects characteristics of network connectivity has been widely used in efficient solving for complicated flow network. Using topological matrix, one can easily define continuity at each node of flow network and make algorithm to automatically generate continuity equation of matrix form. In order to analyze flow network completely it is required to satisfy energy conservation in closed loops of flow network. Fundamental cycle retrieving algorithm based on graph theory automatically constructs energy conservation equation in closed loops. However, it is often accompanied by NP-complete problem. In addition, it always needs fundamental cycle retrieving procedure for every structural change of flow network. This paper proposes alternative mathematical method to analyze flow network without fundamental cycle retrieving algorithm. Consequently, the new mathematical method is expected to reduce solving time and prevent error occurrence by means of simplifying flow network analysis procedure.
In this paper, we discuss H$_{\infty}$ robust performance problem for uncertain system described in a descriptor form. We show that the method based on Riccati equation can be extended to solve this problem. First, such a sufficient condition is given that the system described in a descriptor form is quadratic stable and H$_{\infty}$ norm of a specified transfer function is less than a given level. Using this result, a state feedback law which ensures H$_{\infty}$ robust performance of closed loop system is derived based on a positive definite solution of a Riccati equation. This result shows that a solution of the problem can be also obtained by solving H$_{\infty}$ standard problem for an extended plant. Finally, a design example and simulation results will be given.ven.
