In this paper, we present a indirect adaptive control method using a wavelet neural network (WNN) for the control of chaotic nonlinear systems without precise mathematical models. The proposed indirect adaptive control method includes the off-line identification and on-line control procedure for chaotic nonlinear systems. In the off-line identification procedure, the WNN based identification model identifies the chaotic nonlinear system by using the serial-parallel identification structure and is trained by the gradient-descent method. And, in the on-line control procedure, a WNN controller is designed by using the off-line identification model and is trained by the error back-propagation algorithm. Finally, the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed control method is demonstrated with applications to the chaotic nonlinear systems.

In this paper, in order to control uncertain chaotic system, an adaptive fuzzy control(AFC) scheme is developed for the multi-input/multi-output plants represented by the Takagi-Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy models. The proposed AFC scheme provides robust tracking of a desired signal for the T-S fuzzy systems with uncertain parameters. The developed control law and adaptive law guarantee the boundedness of all signals in the closed-loop system. In addition, the chaotic state tracks the state of the stable reference model(SRM) asymptotically with time for any bounded reference input signal. The suggested AFC design technique is applied for the control of an uncertain Lorenz system based on T-S fuzzy model such as stabilization, synchronization and chaotic model following control(CMFC).
In this paper, we presented a predictive control technique, which is based on wavelet neural network (WNN), for the control of chaotic systems whose precise mathematical models are not available. The WNN is motivated by both the multilayer feedforward neural network definition and wavelet decomposition. The wavelet theory improves the convergence of neural network. In order to design predictive controller effectively, the WNN is used as the predictor whose parameters are tuned by error between the output of actual plant and the output of WNN. Also the training method for the finding a good WNN model is the Extended Kalman algorithm which updates network parameters to converge to the reference signal during a few iterations. The benefit of EKF training method is that the WNN model can have better accuracy for the unknown plant. Finally, through computer simulations, we confirmed the performance of the proposed control method.

In this paper, a predictive control method using self-recurrent wavelet neural network (SRWNN) is proposed for chaotic systems. Since the SRWNN has a self-recurrent mother wavelet layer, it can well attract the complex nonlinear system though the SRWNN has less mother wavelet nodes than the wavelet neural network (WNN). Thus, the SRWNN is used as a model predictor for predicting the dynamic property of chaotic systems. The gradient descent method with the adaptive learning rates is applied to train the parameters of the SRWNN based predictor and controller. The adaptive learning rates are derived from the discrete Lyapunov stability theorem, which are used to guarantee the convergence of the predictive controller. Finally, the chaotic systems are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
This paper presents a generalized predictive control method based on a fuzzy neural network(FNN) model, which uses the on-line multi-step prediction, fur the intelligent control of chaotic nonlinear systems whose mathematical models are unknown. In our design method, the parameters of both predictor and controller are tuned by a simple gradient descent scheme, and the weight parameters of FNN are determined adaptively during the operation of the system. In order to design a generalized predictive controller effectively, this paper describes computing procedure for each of the two important parameters. Also, we introduce a projection matrix to determine the control input, which deceases the control performance function very rapidly. Finally, in order to evaluate the performance of our controller, the proposed method is applied to the Doffing and Henon systems, which are two representative continuous-time and discrete-time chaotic nonlinear systems, res reactively.
The paper treats the nonlinear robust control of Chua's circuit having Chuar's diode as an element based on the internal model principle. The Chua's diode has unknown nonlinear parameters and the circuits parameters are alos assumend unknown. Nonlinear regulator equations are established to obtain 3-fold equilibrium equations on which the output error is zero. Also an internal model of the 3-fold exosystem is constructed for obtaining the control law. Pole Placement method is used for obtaining the feeback control law. Simulation results are presented for tracking the sinusoidal and constant reference input signal. Asymptotic trajectory control and the suppression of chaotic motion in spite of uncertainties in the system are accomplished.
In this paper, the Generalized Predictive Control(GPC) method based on Fuzzy Neural Networks(FNNs) is presented for the control of chaotic nonlinear systems without precise mathematical models. In our method, FNNs is used as the predictor whose parameters are tuned by the error between the actual output of nonlinear chaotic system and that of FNNs model. The parameters of GPC controller are adjusted via the gradient descent method where the difference between the actual output and the reference signal is used as a control error. Finally, computer simulation on the representative continuous-time chaotic system(Duffing system) is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of our chaos control method.
We propose two control methods of the Lyapunov exponents for Jordan-type recurrent neural networks. Both the two methods are formulated by a gradient-based learning method. The first method is derived strictly from the definition of the Lyapunov exponents that are represented by the state transition of the recurrent networks. The first method can control the complete set of the exponents, called the Lyapunov spectrum, however, it is computationally expensive because of its inherent recursive way to calculate the changes of the network parameters. Also this recursive calculation causes an unstable control when, at least, one of the exponents is positive, such as the largest Lyapunov exponent in the recurrent networks with chaotic dynamics. To improve stability in the chaotic situation, we propose a non recursive formulation by approximating ...
This research deals with the influence of nonlinearities associated with impact and sliding upon the rocking behavior of a rigid block, which is subjected to two-dimensional horizontal and vertical excitation. Nonlinearities in the vibration were found to depend strongly on the effect of the impact between the block and the base, which involves an abrupt reduction in the system's kinetic energy. In particular, when sliding occurs, the rocking behavior is substantially changed. Response analysis using a non-dimensional rocking equation was carried out for a variety of excitation levels and excitation frequencies. The chaos responses were observed over a wide response region, particularly, in the cases of high vertical displacement and violent sliding motion, and the chaos characteristics appear in the time histories, Poincare maps, power spectra and Lyapunov exponents of the rocking responses. The complex behavior of chaotic response, in phase space, is illustrated by the Poincare map. The distribution of the rocking response is described by bifurcation diagrams and the effects of sliding motion are examined through the several rocking response examples.
