Objectives : We compared the clinical presentations of manic and depressive episodes and the treatment response among children and adolescents with bipolar disorder (BD) types I and II and BD not otherwise specified (NOS). Methods : The sample consisted of 66 patients, aged between 6 and 18 years, who were admitted for BD to a 20-bed child and adolescent psychiatric ward in a university hospital located in Seoul, Korea. Results : Patients with BD type I were more likely to have lower intelligence quotients and exhibit violent behaviors during manic episodes than patients with BD type II or BD NOS and to show better treatment responses during manic episodes than patients with BD NOS. Patients with BD NOS were more likely to have an irritable mood rather than a euphoric mood during the manic phase than patients with BD type I or II and to exhibit violent behaviors during the depressive phase and chronic course than patients with BD type II. Conclusion : Pediatric BD patients are heterogeneous with respect to their clinical characteristics. Implications for the usefulness of the current diagnostic subtype categories should be investigated in future studies.

In this work, ruthenium substituted SBA-15's(Ru-SBA15's) of various Si/Ru ratios were prepared using a non-ionic triblock copolymer surfactant, $EO_{20}PO_{70}EO_{20}$, as template. We investigated the nitrogen or oxygen adsorption/desorption behaviors of the Ru-SBA-15's for their future applications as catalysts or selective adsorbents, etc. The pore size of the Ru-SBA-15's was determined by both the Barrett-Joyner-Halenda(BJH)($D_{BJH}$) and the Broekhoff-de Boer analysis with a Frenkel-Halsey-Hill isotherm(BdB-FFF) method($D_{BdB-FHH}$). The $D_{BJH}$ and $D_{BdB-FHH}$ of the Ru-SBA-15 having 50/1 ratio of Si/Ru were 3.9 nm and 4.7 nm, respectively. The transmission electron microscope(TEM) image of the Ru-SBA 15 of the Si/Ru mole ratio of 50 showed that the pore size is 4.7 nm, which is consistent with the $N_2$ adsorption results with the BdB-FHH method. The surface area of pores form oxygen adsorption/desorption isotherm was higher than that from the nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherm by the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET) method, which were respectively $612.7m^2/g$, and $573.3m^2/g$. X-ray diffraction(XRD) patterns and TEM analyses showed that the mesoporous materials possess well-ordered hexagonal arrays.

Background/Aims: The cumulative surgery rate and postoperative relapse of intestinal Behçet's disease (BD) have been reported to be high. This study aimed to establish a scoring system based on follow-up endoscopic findings that can predict intestinal BD recurrence after surgery. Methods: Fifty-four patients with intestinal BD who underwent surgery due to bowel complications and underwent follow-up colonoscopy were retrospectively investigated. Their clinical data, including colonoscopic findings, were retrieved. Classification and regression tree analysis was used to develop an appropriate endoscopic classification model that can explain the postsurgical recurrence of intestinal BD most accurately based on the following classification: e0, no lesions; e1, solitary ulcer <20 mm in size; e2, solitary ulcer ${\geq}20mm$ in size; and e3, multiple ulcers regardless of size. Results: Clinical relapse occurred in 37 patients (68.5%). Among 38 patients with colonoscopic recurrence, only 29 patients had clinically relapsed. Multivariate analysis identified higher disease activity index for intestinal BD at colonoscopy (hazard ratio [HR], 1.013; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.005 to 1.021; p=0.002) and colonoscopic recurrence (HR, 2.829; 95% CI, 1.223 to 6.545; p=0.015) as independent risk factors for clinical relapse of intestinal BD. Endoscopic findings were classified into four groups, and multivariate analysis showed that the endoscopic score was an independent risk factor of clinical relapse (p=0.012). The risk of clinical relapse was higher in the e3 group compared to the e0 group (HR, 6.284; 95% CI, 2.036 to 19.391; p=0.001). Conclusions: This new endoscopic scoring system could predict clinical relapse in patients after surgical resection of intestinal BD.

A bacterium producing novel lipolytic enzyme was isolated from house sewage and identified as Acinetobacter sp. BD5 based on physiological characterization and 16S rDNA sequencing. The lipolytic activity of Acinetobacter sp. BD5 was tested using an EL agar medium and CE agar medium supplemented with 1% tributyrin and olive oil, respectively. The formation of a clear zone around the colony was detected by agar medium supplemented with 1% tributyrin and olive oil, respectively and Acinetobacter sp. BD5 formed powder-like zone around the colony on LB agar medium containing Tween 20. The quantitative lipolytic activity was determined by using p-NP butyrate as substrate. Acinetobacter sp. BD5 secreted the lipolytic enzyme during exponential growth phase, reaching a maximum amount after 6 hours of incubation. The lipolytic enzyme was found to be optimally active at $60^{\circ}C$ and retained more than 70% at $70-80^{\circ}C$. It displayed a high degree of activity in a pH of 7.0 to 10.6, with an optimal pH of 9.0.
Objective: Methionine (Met) is involved in methyl group transfer besides protein synthesis. As the availability is limited and cost is high for synthetic Met, reductions in its inclusion in broiler diet may be possible by supplementing the low Met diets with methyl donors (MD) like betaine (Bet), folic acid (FA), vitamin B12 (B12), and biotin (Bio). An experiment was conducted to study the effects of supplementing the MD on performance (average daily gain [ADG], daily feed intake, feed efficiency [FE]), anti-oxidant variables, immune responses and serum protein concentration in broilers fed sub-optimal concentrations of dietary Met. Methods: Maize-soybean meal diet was used as control (CD). Different MD like Bet (0.2%), B12 (0.1 mg), FA (4 mg), or Bio (1.5 mg/kg) were supplemented to basal diet (BD) having no supplemental Met. The BD without MD was kept for comparison. Each diet was fed ad libitum to 10 replicates of 25 chicks in each from 1 to 42 d of age. Results: At the end of experiment, the ADG in MD group was higher than BD and lower than CD. The FE improved with FA or Bet compared to the BD. Breast meat weight was higher in Bet compared to the BD, while it was intermediate between BD and CD in other groups. The lipid peroxidation reduced with Bio, B12, or Bet, while the glutathione peroxidase activity improved with Bio or B12 compared to the BD. Lymphocyte proliferation improved with Bet compared to the BD. The serum protein concentrations increased with FA, Bio, or Bet compared to those fed BD. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the ADG can be improved partially with supplementation of MD while the FE improved with FA or Bet. Some MD also reduced the stress indices and improved immune responses compared to the BD fed broilers.
This study assessed the quality of barley Dasik manufactured, according to traditional methods, with various levels of Maesil (Prunus mume) extracts at weight percentages of 0% (BD1), 10% (BD2), 20% (BD3), 30% (BD4), 40% (BD5). The Dasik were analysed with proximate analysis, a sugar content analysis, Hunter's color value test, mechanical characteristics test and a sensory evaluation. Increased ratios added Maesil extracts led to the moisture content, crude ash, and crude fat to significantly increase (p<.001). 10% (BD2) had significantly higher levels of crude protein (p<.01). Sugar contents was highest in 0% (BD1) and decreased as the amount of added Maesil extracts increased. This increase also led to higher L-values and b-values of chromaticity (p<.001) and the a-value of 0% (BD1) was significantly higher than the sample groups (p<.001). Changes in texture profile analysis, hardness and gumminess values were highest in the control group and the values of those in the sample group decreased with increasing amounts of Maesil extract (p<.001). It should be noted that, among the samples evaluated, barley Dasik that contained 10% Maesil extract (BD2) had the highest commercial value.

Purpose: Performances of a tractor diesel engine fueled by three different animal fats biodiesels were evaluated comparing with light oil tractor in terms of power, fuel consumption rate, exhaust gases, particulate matter amount and field work capacity. Methods: Animal fats based on pig biodiesel were manufactured manually and tested for its engine performance in the tractor diesel engine and fuel adoptability in the field works. Four different fuels, three different content of biodiesel (BD20, BD50, BD100) and light oil, were prepared and tested in the four strokes diesel engine. Power output, fuel consumption rate and exhaust gases of the four fuels in the diesel engine were compared and discussed. Results: Power output of light oil engine was the greatest showing 5.3% difference between light oil and BD100, but 0.37% better power than BD20 engine power. Less exhaust gases of $CO_2$, CO, $NO_X$ and THC were produced from animal fats biodiesel than light oil, which confirmed that biodiesel is environmental friendly fuel. For fuel adoptability in the tractor, biodiesel engine tractor showed its fuel competitiveness comparing with light oil for tractor works in the faddy field. Conclusions: With four different fuel types of animal-fats biodiesel, performances of a four cylinder diesel engine for tractor were evaluated in terms of power, exhaust gases, particulate matters (PM) and field work capacity. No significant differences observed in the engine performances including power output and exhaust gases emission rate. No significant power difference observed between the various fuels including light oil on the engine running, however, amounts of noxious exhaust gases including $CO_2$ and $NO_X$ decreased as biodiesel content increased in the fuels. Field performances of animal-fats biodiesel tractor were investigated by conducting plowing and rotary operation in the field. Tilling and rotary performance of light oil tractor and BD20 tractor in the field were compared, in which about 10% travelling speed difference on both operations were monitored that showed light oil tractor was superior to BD20 tractor by 10%. Animal-fats can be an alternative fuel source replacing light oil for agricultural machinery and an environmental friendly fuel to nature.
In this study, the exhaust characteristics of the diesel engine for the change of the mixing ratio of biodiesel fuel were quantitatively analyzed by using the numerical analysis method. As the fuel used in the experiment, the diesel and biodiesel(waste oil, soybean oil), the mixed fuel BD2(Diesel only), BD3, BD5, BD20, BD50 and BD100 were used. The injection pressure($p_{inj}$) was set to 400bar, 600bar, 800bar, 1000bar and 1200bar as the experimental variable. Also the concept of the standard deviation, Pearson's correlation coefficient and Spearman rank-order correlation coefficient based on the statistics was introduced in order to analyze the exhaust characteristics of the quantitative NOx and Soot according to the injection pressure and the mixing ratio variation of biodiesel blending fuel. It is considered that as a result of studies, for the waste oil, NOx and Soot can be simultaneously reduced through control of the mixing ratio at the regions of $p_{inj}=400bar$ and $p_{inj}=600bar$, and the Soot can be reduced without affecting on the emission of NOx at more than $p_{inj}=800bar$. For the soybean oil, NOx and Soot can be simultaneously reduced at $p_{inj}=400bar$ and the Soot can be reduced without affecting on the emission of NOx at $p_{inj}=600bar$.
Diesel engine is most suitable one for biodiesel fuel because the compression-ignition diesel engine has desirable fuel consumption due to higher thermal efficiency and in addition, the improvement of the fuel consumption also leads to a reduction of $CO_2$ emission and then it does not need to have spark-ignition system, which means that there is less charge on the technic and complexity. In this study, the spray behavior characteristics of the vegetable palm oil were analyzed by using a common-rail injection system of commercial diesel engine and the results were compared with those obtained for the diesel fuel. The injection pressures and blend ratios of palm oil and diesel(BD3, BD5, BD20, BD30, BD50, and BD100) were the main parameters. The experiments were conducted for different injection pressures: 500bar, 1000bar, 1500bar, and 1600bar by setting injection duration to $500{\mu}s$. Consequently, it was found that there is no significant difference in the macro characteristics of the spray behavior(spray penetration and spray angle) in response to change in the blend ratio of palm oil and diesel at a fixed injection pressure. In particular, all experiments showed the spray angle about $12^{\circ}{\sim}13^{\circ}$.
With the proliferation of intelligent transportation system (ITS) with dedicated short-range communication (DSRC) deployment, there are various applications requiring different throughput and reliability performance. To meet the enhanced throughput requirements in newly generated applications, IEEE 802.11bd is proposed to standardize for support of enhanced throughput and latency, preserving the fairness with previously deployed WLAN V2X devices. One of the main features of IEEE 802.11 bd is 20 MHz transmission to support the high data rate. In this paper, the primary channel selection method is proposed to guarantee the fairness with frame transmissions with 10 MHz bandwith including communications in WLAN V2X devices deployed with IEEE 802.11p. Simulation shows that the proposed channel access method for 20 MHz transmission with primary selection preserves the fairness without the change of channel access method in wide-band transmission.
