Alcohol Volume Consumption and Drinking Frequency among High School Students According to Social Alcohol Drinking Supplier (사회적 음주제공자에 따른 고등학생의 음주량과 음주빈도)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the amount of alcohol and drinking frequency among high school students based on social alcohol drinking supply. The data was on 161 drinkers aged between 16 and 19 from 21 high schools across the country using a questionnaire of the International Alcohol Control(IAC) Study, which was developed in 2012. Results show that the higher the number of social suppliers offering alcoholic beverages to high school students, the greater the consumption of alcohol per episode(59.433 g for one person, 113.40 g for two, and 133.56 g for three or more people). On the other hand, alcohol consumption among 'Honsul' people, a group that drinks alone without a social drinking supplier, was 167.84 grams, higher than that of groups that receive social drinking services. As a social drinking supplier for teenagers, drinking was the highest by their father (29.3 %), while friends (25.0 %) and mothers (20.7 %) were the main drinking suppliers. In particular, the provision of drinking due to father(𝛽=-.32, t=3.55, p<.01) and mother(𝛽=.22, t=2.71, p<.01) showed statistical significance as a factor in increasing the frequency of providing social drinking in adolescents. On the other hand, partner/boy or girl friend (𝛽=-.23, t=-2.73, p<.01) was a factor in reducing the frequency of alcohol provision. Friends(𝛽=.24, t=3.02, p<.01) and senior-junior schoolmates(𝛽=.16, t=2.04, p<.05) were the factors that increase the total alcohol intake of adolescents. This is due to the increase in the frequency of alcohol provision. This suggests that alcohol harm education should be expanded from students to parents, considering the role of parents as a social drinking supplier and the link between high alcohol intake among teenagers due to senior-junior friends and schoolmates.

Perception of Science High School Teachers on Cyber Education (사이버 교육에 대한 과학고 교사의 인식 조사)

  • This study investigated operation plan for the Cyber Bridge Program based on the survey from teachers of science high schools. Teachers were found to be thinking it positive that cyber programs can be operated free from the time and spatial restrictions. They thought that teacher interactions are hard to occur and teachers' role in learning is limited as well. Also, the geographical, physical, and socio cultural minorities might have benefits from cyber programs either as regular programs or the before entrance programs. Therefore, the detailed plans are needed. Most of all, since the educational contents are the key for the programs, we suggested some contents categories and developmental criteria. As a result, the developments of high quality contents and financial supports for the successful Cyber Bridge Program are essential.

Research on Ways to Improve Science Teaching Methods to Develop Students' Key Competencies (학습자의 핵심역량 개발을 위한 과학과 수업방법 개선 방안)

  • The goal of this research is to investigate ways to improve science teaching methods to develop students' key competencies. Since the OECD DeSeCo (Definition and Selection of Key Competencies) project, key competencies are redefined as 'what people should know and be able to do in order to lead a successful life in a well-functioning society, which leads many countries to emphasize competency-based curriculum. In this research, we collected and analyzed foreign and domestic classroom cases that have implemented competency-based curriculum in science teaching. Through open-ended interviews with the teachers and principals, we explored ways to improve science teaching methods to develop students' key competencies. In foreign cases, science teachers emphasized students' knowing what KCs to accomplish, activities and student-centered learning, students' group activities and collaboration, and greater curriculum integration among subjects and contexts. Korean science teachers argued that the KCs should be realized through teaching methods and emphasized scientific inquiry learning whereby non-science track students could also benefit from science lessons. Korean science teachers also emphasized links to real-life situations, providing students with various learning experiences that supported students to develop the KCs, and the delivery of an integrated curriculum. In the conclusion section, the difficulties with the implementation of key competencies are discussed.

A case study on the gender equality experience of Chinese married immigrant women in Korea (중국결혼이주여성들의 한국에서 양성평등 경험에 대한 사례연구)

  • This study was carried out to investigate what kind of problems gender equality in Chinese married immigrant women have in marriage. We interviewed five Chinese marriage immigrant women married to Korean men for research. Using the case study method, which is a qualitative research method, five research participants analyzed gender equality awareness and gender equality conflict after migration. As a result, the marital conflicts, which are the difference of recognition of gender equality among married immigrant women, were different according to the family life culture of their home countries, the route of meeting with their husbands, and their understanding of Chinese culture. Nonetheless, most of the research participants showed that they accepted the Korean women's values in the form of conforming to the Korean patriarchal system while taking the inequality by attempting to assimilate positively in Korean society. And some of them resulted in the failure of the family because of the patriarchal values of the Korean husband. Based on the results of this study, we discussed the problems of gender equality in multicultural families in Korea and discussed ways to improve them.

The Characteristics and Implications of the Socially-Oriented Innovation Policy (사회적 목표 지향적 혁신정책의 특성과 함의)

  • This study investigates the characteristics and implications of the newly emerging socially-oriented innovation policy. The socially-oriented innovation policy has systemic views on the evolution of socio-technical system and innovation policy. It's ultimate goal is the transition toward sustainable socio-technical system and it takes "strategic niche management" approach for the transition policy. The governance structure of the policy is more open to the public actors, such as social service organizations and public institutes. As a case study, "the Technology-based Policy for the Enhancement of Quality of Life", which is the first comprehensive socially-oriented policy of Korea, is examined and it is suggested that the policy has some limitations because of the path dependency of targeting-oriented and catching-up style innovation policy of Korea.

A Study on Labor Market Precariousness of the Working High School Graduate Youths (고졸 청년 노동자의 노동시장 불안정 연구)

  • This study aims to explore life experiences associated with poverty and discrimination in processes of growth, career exploration, entry into the labor market, and career accumulation of the working high school graduate youths. With this exploration, we also intent to grasp their difficulties and needs, thus look for policy tasks for them. The analysis is based on qualitative case study. The results are following. Typical working high school graduate youths choose not to go on to university under the influence of unfavorable economic situation of the original families. They enter the labor market without enough career exploration and try to continue working mainly in low-income and unskilled jobs. They usually work long hours to increase incomes, thus, do not have enough time to invest on their own human resources. They locate in a vicious circle of income poverty, time poverty, and skill poverty, but rarely protected by existing employment and income support programs. It is necessary to improve or introduces policy packages including labor market transition support for the high school graduate, education, training, and career exploration support, income support for the working poor, social network support, and support for reducing the dead zone of social insurances.

  • As a result of the study, it was found that social support affects career maturity. It was confirmed that in order to increase the career maturity of junior college students, it is necessary to understand the interpersonal relationship including information and evaluation of the student environment, effective support, and emotional interest, and it is necessary to find a way to perceive high social support. In the effect of social support on career maturity, career decision self-efficacy was found to have a partial mediating effect. Instructors should support students who have anxiety about their uncertain future so that they can increase their self-esteem and self-efficacy so that they can enhance their career maturity.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of organizational support level on job satisfaction and stress for local female civil servants. In the reality that women's social life is subject to various restrictions, social support for women is insufficient. Organizational support can be said to be social support that can increase work efficiency and productivity for workers. The study of improving the social status of female workers by understanding the level of social support and enhancing their work ability and performance is considered to be meaningful. Therefore, in this study, the effect of women's organizational support in the workplace on job satisfaction and job stress is verified empirically, and it is intended to be used as basic data to maintain stable job activities of female workers in the future.

  • This study analyzed the policy decision process of the International Science Business Belt (ISBB) applying multiple stream model combining Kingdon (2013) and Howlett et al. (2014) models. We looked at what socio-political factors influenced the process and sought to find ways to promote the project of ISBB and the policy of basic science in the future. As a concrete analysis, the policy decision process was divided into policy, policy formation, and implementation policy, and the streams of problem, process, policy and politics, policy window, and policy participant were used as variables. As a result of the analysis, the stream of politics and the role of the policy-entrepreneur played an important role in the policy decision process. Politicians and government officials were more involved than the scientists.

  • 사회가 다원화되고 발달하면서 생활환경과 행동양식에 따라 홍수 등의 수난(水難) 으로 인한 피해 정도와 양상은 크게 달라질 수 있으나, 수난으로 인한 체감 가능한 피해의 정도와 규모는 예측이 어려운 현실이다. 그리고, 최근 인터넷과 소셜 네트워크 서비스(SNS)의 급진적 발달은 재난 관리에 대중적 지식을 수집하여 활용하도록 촉진하고 있고, 이로 인해 재난 상황에서 '대중적인 정보가 기술자에 의해 어떻게 얼마나 신중하게 고려되어야 하는지와 어떻게 과학적으로 해석해야하는지'가 핵심 쟁점으로 부상하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 최근 널리 사용되는 인공지능 및 딥러닝 기법을 조사 분석하였다. 분석을 통해 수문 예측 분야에서 이러한 기술이 적용된 사례와 신기술을 조망해 보고 기존 기술이 인공지능 및 딥러닝 기법의 적용으로 대체 가능한 정도를 가늠해 보았다.
