A Study on the Line of Action Shown in Characters' Poses of a Game 'Over Watch' (게임 '오버워치' 캐릭터의 Pose에 나타난 Line of Action 연구)

  • In spite of lots of differences in the production process of film animation, the animating method through computer is not much different between game animation and film animation. It is because the principles of film animation are also emphasized for the production of game animation. This study aims to consider the line of action showing the direction of movement and flow of energy among many considerations for the character pose work in case when producing game animation. Starting from the basic theory of drawing, the line of action plays a role of bible in the pose work including cell animation and 3D animation. After examining the theoretical background through preceding researches in order to understand the application of the line of action to the pose work of game characters, the poses of hero characters of a 3D online game 'Over Watch' were collected and then lines were directly drawn to analyze them. And as a result, the pose of characters with simple and clear 'Line of action' was good. This study aimed to consider the expression techniques of character pose in the production of game animation, which is expected to be used as an important reference for game animators at work.

A Study on Scalability of Profiling Method Based on Hardware Performance Counter for Optimal Execution of Supercomputer (슈퍼컴퓨터 최적 실행 지원을 위한 하드웨어 성능 카운터 기반 프로파일링 기법의 확장성 연구)

  • Supercomputer that shares limited resources to multiple users needs a way to optimize the execution of application. For this, it is useful for system administrators to get prior information and hint about the applications to be executed. In most high-performance computing system operations, system administrators strive to increase system productivity by receiving information about execution duration and resource requirements from users when executing tasks. They are also using profiling techniques that generates the necessary information using statistics such as system usage to increase system utilization. In a previous study, we have proposed a scheduling optimization technique by developing a hardware performance counter-based profiling technique that enables characterization of applications without further understanding of the source code. In this paper, we constructed a profiling testbed cluster to support optimal execution of the supercomputer and experimented with the scalability of the profiling method to analyze application characteristics in the built cluster environment. Also, we experimented that the profiling method can be utilized in actual scheduling optimization with scalability even if the application class is reduced or the number of nodes for profiling is minimized. Even though the number of nodes used for profiling was reduced to 1/4, the execution time of the application increased by 1.08% compared to profiling using all nodes, and the scheduling optimization performance improved by up to 37% compared to sequential execution. In addition, profiling by reducing the size of the problem resulted in a quarter of the cost of collecting profiling data and a performance improvement of up to 35%.

Signal Analysis and Visualization Environment with Visual Programming Capability (시각 프로그래밍이 가능한 신호분석 환경)

  • In this paper, we present a signal analysis environment with visual programming capability, which is called Signal Analysis and Visualization Environment( SAVE). The system allows a user to perform visually programmed analysis of signals and visualize the results. The visualization facility enables the user to compare original signals with processed ones arid also to display signals overlaid synchronously with the events extracted from the signals. The SAVE system has an extensible architecture: each signal processing algorithm is implemented as a separate building block object module, which can be freely added or removed from the SAVE system without any code modification. We describe the overall structure of the SAVE system and the building block objects, which provide the extensibility in collaboration with together. We illustrate some test runs in order to five a taste of how to use and where to use the system.

Accelerometry of Upper Extremity During Activities of Daily Living in Healthy Adults (정상인에서 일상생활활동 수행시 상지의 가속도 분석)

  • Objective : The objectives of this study were to compare the variables from Fitmeter accelerometer with them from CMS-70P(Zebris Medizintechnik Gmbh, Germany) and to suggest the availability the accelerometer in the field of occupational therapy. Methods : Twenty participants performed calling, drinking water, washing face and spooning and we measured Sum of Single Vector Magnitude(SSVM) and range of motion(ROM) on the wrist and elbow joints. Results :With respect to the wrist and elbow joints, SSVM and ROM differed significantly according to the task(calling, drinking water, washing face and spooning)(p<.001; p<.001; p<.001; p<.001). As for the wrist joint, SSVM and ROM did not show the significant correlation(p>.05) but as for the elbow joint, SSVM and ROM did show the significant correlation according to the task(p<.01; p<.001; p<.01; p<.05). With regard to the SVM-difference of wrist and elbow joints, calling and washing showed the significant difference (p<.001; p<.05) but drinking and spooning did not show the significant difference(p>.05; p>.05). Conclusion : We suggest that Fitmeter accelerometer would be use to record the kinematic variables during performance of ADL and it can compensate the function of CMS-70P as for the elbow joint than the wrist joint.

  • 오늘날 분산 컴퓨팅 환경에서 운용되는 시스템이 증가됨에 따라 시스템의 관리작업은 고수준의 자동화를 요구하고 있다. 이에 따라 시스템 관리방식은 전통적인 관리자 중심에서 시스템 스스로가 자신의 문제를 인식하고 상황을 분석하여 해결하는 자율 컴퓨팅 방식으로 변화하고 있으며, 현재 이에 대한 연구가 많은 연구기관에서 다양한 방법으로 이루어 지고 있다. 그러나 이러한 대부분의 연구에서 자율 컴퓨팅의 한 요소인 자가 치유는 문제가 발생한 이후의 치유에 주로 초점이 맞추어져 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 시스템 스스로가 동작환경을 인식하고 에러의 발생을 예측하기 위한 예측 모델을 필요로 하게 된다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 자율 컴퓨팅환경에서 자가 치유를 지원하는 4 가지 예측 모델 설계 방법을 제안하며, 본 예측 모델을 ID3 알고리즘, 퍼지추론, 퍼지뉴럴네트워크 그리고 베이지안 네트워크가 각 시스템 상황에 맞추어 적절하게 사용되는 하이브리드 방식이며, 이를 통해 보다 정확하고, 신속한 에러 예측이 가능해진다. 우리는 제안 모델을 평가하기 위해 본 예측 모델을 자가 치유 시스템에 적용하여 기존 연구와 예측 효율을 비교하였으며, 그 결과를 통해 제안 모델의 유효성을 증명하였다.

Real-Time Implementation of the AMR-WB Speech Codec Using TMS320VC5510 DSP (TMS320VC5510을 이용한 AMR-WB 음성부호화기의 실시간 구현)

  • 본 연구에서는 ETSI 및 3GPP에 의해 개발된 광대역 음성부호화의 표준안인 AMR-WB 알고리즘을 분석하고, TMS320VC5510 DSK를 이용한 실시간 구현 결과를 제시하였다. AMR-WB 음성부호화기의 실시간 구현을 위해 프로그램 최적화 작업을 수행하였고, 구현된 음성 부호화기의 성능을 평가하기 위해서 프로그램 메모리와 데이터 메모리의 크기, 그리고 한 프레임당 수행 시간을 측정하였다. 구현된 시스템의 프로그램 메모리는 약65.6 kbytes, 데이터 메모리는 약 73.8kbytes 정도의 크기를 나타내었으며, 한 프레임인 20 msec를 처리하는데 소요되는 cycle 수가 평균 1,247,115 정도로 약 6.24 msec 내에 처리 할 수 있음을 보였다. 마지막으로 DSP로 구현한 AMR-WB 음성부호화기의 결과가 PC에서 시뮬레이션 한 결과와 일치함을 검증하였고 실시간으로 동작됨을 확인하였다.

  • As time spent in front of the computer screens increases, an increasing number of people are using natural landscapes or virtual aquariums as their desktop and screen saver that can provide them with mental comfort. A virtual aquarium is constructed by an animation work that creates a variety of fish that freely move in a random virtual underwater environment to analyze their movement. This paper suggests a method that constructs an immersive virtual aquarium, using fluid animation method that expresses changes of shape of fluid in real time and the Smart Fish technology which is capable of an interaction according to the diverse characteristics of virtual fish. The suggested method can be used in a virtual aquarium, aquarium screen saver, virtual fish-raising game, etc., which express diverse undersea environment.

  • As for information system in hospital which digital hospital aims at, there are LIS(Laboratory Information System) and so on. Interface program gather the results from the clinic laboratory equipment and manage the results efficiently as well. To implement interface program, multi tasking and multi thread method is used. In this paper, we proposed the stable method after comparing and analyzing these two methods we present above through the simulation. Also we designed and implemented Interface program which satisfy the users' requirements applying the proposed method. The result of using the built interface program in the hospital field confirms that the program operates safely.

  • In a multi-hop wireless sensor network, broadcasting is an elementary operation to support command message sending, route discovery and other application tasks. Broadcasting by flooding may cause serious redundancy, contention, and collision in the network, which is referred to as the broadcast storm problem. Many broadcasting schemes have been proposed to give better performance than simple flooding in wireless sensor network. How to decide whether re-broadcast or not also poses a dilemma between reach ability and efficiency under different host densities. In this paper, we present popular broadcasting schemes, which can reduce re-broadcast packets and improve SRB(Saved ReBroadcast). Simulation results show different levels of improvement over the simple flooding scheme.
